Ok, but if I put a rug under it, and a chair next to it, and a window behind it with some curtains on it, and sit granny in the chair to read her favorite romance novel, she should be okay right?

Definitly don't place them on either side of a bed in a room full of tacky 70s looking crap, curtains, and flashing lights and turn them on at the start of your attempt to make a comedy 70s disco film love scene.

The result is funny, but not really what I was aiming for.

Where is JM, anyway? The news box has been the same for a couple of days, and he's been rather quiet. Perhaps he's gotten the game and is modding like a madman?

perhaps this JM character just happened on an objects.package...

Title: Re: Hey Pescado!

I can imagine when he does get the game, he'll be going nuts with all the things that need changing! I know the first time I played, I must have said at least 20 times "Oh, this has got to be fixed!"  I can just picture it...

I don't know where the thread is that JM was asking about a NL Objects.package, but Quaxi posted a file with all the BHAVs from the objects file at his forum.  I don't know if it will help JM, but Inge was talking about using it since she doesn't have NL yet either.

So we have to put up with RING RING RING RING RING RING RING 'Hey friend, I haven't heard from you from a while, did you get eaten by a pack of llamas?' CLICK, repeat, repeat, repeat for another 6-8 weeks? Wonderful.  :P

Montana sucks!

If the extra costs are the problem with overnighting into the middle of nowhere, put up a paypal link. I bet you can get the cash you need to get a copy by monday morning.  I would toss a few bucks your way just to not hear the GOD DAMNED PHONE RING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER!!!!!

yep. I dont have much, and what I dont have, I would happily donate to get some quick solutions on the table. And I think its easier to bribe Pescado into doing those, than EA... No offence HatedMaxoid, your doing a great job, I just know the speed of big business, and its slower than a slug crawling over broken glass and acid....

Make that dang phone stop ringing, and bring back my call friends option. Pretty pretty please, with sugar on top :D If getting you the game faster helps to achieve that, count me in :D

Macrotastics doesn't work in NL? It has a lot of functions, which ones don't work? Or have you not tried?

And life is like a sandwich. Some days you eat the sandwich, other days the sandwich eats you.

SimPE doesn't even work with Nightlife yet. And it takes that long to ship because first, it has to arrive at an agent. Then it must be passed by blind drop to another agent, and then it has to be possibly loaded onto a ship. Finally, it must undergo another series of blind drops until it finds its way onto my next supply convoy. Which is in 6-8 weeks.

The only part of Macrotastics that isn't working for me is the College Rampage. Nothing at all happens when it's selected - no icon in the queue, no error message, nada.

TwoJeffs is already updating his hacks for Nightlife.  I don't know how he's doing it, but he already has his NPC zapper updated to zap Mrs. Crumplebottom on downtown lots!  And his college adjuster now will turn your sim into a vampire or cure him of vapirism.

This makes no sense.  It all sounds rather, er, "fishy" to me. :)  How are we going to wait two months for our hacks to be fixed?  Two months of phones ringing endlessly and sims falling in love and getting slapped left and right, to mention a few things.

I haven't gotten Nightlife yet.  I can't decide whether I want to see all the new stuff or wait until I know all JMs hacks are going to work properly so I don't tear my hair out in frustration.

Do you all have absolutely no memories of the updating spree that went on when Uni came out?  The same "Oh no!  My precious hacks!  Not having the phone hack is driving me insane!"  The same six-to-eight week wait for J.M. to get the game.  The same "Get J.M. the game faster!" offers of money, and the same explanations from J.M. as to why this is totally useless.

Seriously, did you not expect this to happen again?  We cross our fingers and hope he'll work from code diffs.

hmmm...If I were a modder with a large audience I would claim 6-8 weeks also. I would use this time to play the game a bit, figure out first and foremost what I wanted to mod, then update any mods that actually needed it, have my personal confidants test them out before unleashing them on the public giving me plenty of time to work in peace without a barrage of can you fix this first, oh and can you fix this unrelated issue and this and this and this and this...yeppers, about 6-8 weeks cushion, and perhaps I might be done a little sooner but this would make people happy rather than annoyed. If it were me that is...but it isn't, so what do I know.

Yeah, I rather suspect he's full of shit, but it's his schtick and keeps up his rather odd loner people hating, paranoid persona.

Annoying as hell for us that have to put up with the damned phone ringing and temper tantrums and what's this etc etc though. Makes one wonder, did the people at Maxis PLAY this game? Because there's a lot of feature that universally irritate the hell out of people. I've yet to hear of one person who likes how the phone works or that the sims all run to say what's this when you buy a friggin lightbulb. At least they finally got a clue and got rid of that obnoxious child A+ cheering.

Oh it ain't just the phone, though the phone is probably the biggest pain in the ass. We also have the pleasure of them all stopping everything they are doing and going up or down 2 stories to check out a god damned lightbulb that you just added to say "What's this?"  ::) they do it on community lots now too. And worse yet, because the community lots never save, they'll do it ever time they enter that lot. :p For some reason the tables with tablecloths on some lots make them all go "What's this?"

The temper tantrums are back without lesswhiny and annoying as hell. I'm always screaming STFU!! at them. Buying clothes takes forever again because they have to browse for an hour first. Running anywhere is fairly useless now since you can't queue it up without manual navigation. I keep forgetting that and it is a constant source of irritation for me. :p If I really want them to run, I have to sit there and wait for them to get there before I can queue up their next action. :p

I've made a thing to stop them yelling and waving their arms when they've got low motives.  It does it a different way from the LessWhiny, but it seems fairly effective.  You have to take over responsibility for noticing when they are starving and stuff though.

Find it on my patches page.  I couldn't stand any longer without the lesswhiny either :(

Well the way he described the delivery process, it kind of screams "Us armed forces in the mid east" to me.

So if he is a tech/support stationed in Afghan/Turkey/Iraq etc, he may need to wait 2 months.

Actually, that's 6-8 weeks until I get the game. It will probably take longer before everything is updated, although the really "can't live without" stuff, well, if you think you can't live without it, let's just say we don't make this shit just for your sake.

Yeah, I rather suspect he's full of shit, but it's his schtick and keeps up his rather odd loner people hating, paranoid persona.

Given that my procurement contacts are overseas, yes, that is sort of how it works. In fact, it will take slightly longer because of security procedures.

However, there is good news. Boris has the game now, and I'll have the package shortly. Unfortunately, SimPE still doesn't actually work with Nightlife yet at last check.

Lol!

I'm not complaining. Actually, since the A+ cheer is fixed and cell phones are turned off when sims are asleep, I'm finding that the return to the game in it's original form is kind of refreshing. I think I'm only going to get bug fix hacks from now on, and the clothing tool so I can use the toddler hats. With the phone hack I'm going to make them stop talking once their social is full and be really upset that I'm missing out on the keep in touch calls. They are a penalty for letting the lifetime relationship drop below 50, and the game without penalties isn't a game. I've never had the less whiney stuff or similar hacks for the same reason.

Actually there is a NL compatiable version up now. It works for me to fixing the bug with teens I moved in with boolprop not aging properly (their "days remaining" gets set to 100 for some odd reason, I don't have any problems with kids I moved in with boolprop or adults just teens for some odd reason can't figure THAT one out).

Or I'll just invite people I want to be friends with to an outing. A good one energizes my sim and I come back at the same time at home. In a better mood to skill and with a friend to boot.

While I do see your point, I still think certain aspects of the game could be handled better. I don't mind the message that pops up saying you lost a friend, but I absolutely cannot abide by those damned sims calling you up every two seconds and dragging some random sim away from one part of the house to the phone just to tell them I haven't been calling their asses and then to add insult to injury, hanging up without any relationship gain.

There's lots of other 'features' that need fixing too. I had a neat vampire sim haul her ass up 3 stories during daylight while rapidly decreasing motives to make a bed and I couldn't cancel it because I don't have the hack anymore. :p

Well, sure, I could just drive 50 miles to the nearest store that might probably sell them. Which would run me for about 80 gallons of fuel, which is more than the game is worth and violate all security protocols, since then the EA tracking number would be directly linked to my point of purchase. Or I can wait patiently for it to arrive with the next supply convoy. Which sounds smarter to you?

I have every reason to believe that hack would work unmodified. Boris is compiling a list right now, since he has the game. I'll have an objects.package to look at in about 189 Microsoft hours now.

Regarding NL: I don't plan on getting it soon anyway. I'm still pretty hooked to University, which, if I know myself, I'll keep abusing for another month or so, then I'll find meself another game to get addicted to, and when that addiction wears of it'll be close to November. My guess is JM will be over and done with checking out his hacks and making new ones to remedy the stuff that's fucked up in NL (and from what I've read, it's not a short list!). Plus, by that time the price will have dropped to reasonable, EU standards (yes, I'm in Greece, but unfortunately my homeland doesn't always comply to EU standards...sigh!).

Microsoft Time(tm) is similar to Real Time, but without any mandatory rules of correspondence or the requirement that time elapses linearly. Since Microsoft Time(tm) is nonlinear and has no real relationship to Real Time, something can take 10 Microsoft Minutes(tm), and 10 minutes later, it will still take 10 Microsoft MInutes(tm), or perhaps it will now take 20 Microsoft Minutes(tm). On rare occasions, it might actually have already finished. On even more rare occasions, it will just be finished.

At present time, the download will complete in 217 Microsoft Hours(tm).

It also sounds a lot like band or scout minutes.

As my son just entered high school this year and joined marching band, this really caused me to laugh. I think part of being a band instructor is to have no sense of real world time.

There's lots of other 'features' that need fixing too. I had a neat vampire sim haul her ass up 3 stories during daylight while rapidly decreasing motives to make a bed and I couldn't cancel it because I don't have the hack anymore. :p
There are loopholes in my method of play. Like in my mind, that "feature" is a bug. I see no reason why one should be penalized for trying to make a bed, or any reason why a sim has to make a bed. First of all that's what maids are for, and second of all I don't make my bed, why should my sims?

Worst part is, it wasn't even her bed. :p One good thing about a coffin is, you never have to make it. ;)

I'm sure you'll like the new proposed Authorized Personnel Only with Anti-Vampire-Daylight-Lock, then. Then the security system will physically prevent vampires from attempting to leave the house during daylight hours. :P
