Yes, when you get into a car or a cab a menu comes up and you can select your destination in the main neighborhood or downtown.

One time I had this hampster... no wait, it was a rat. And it wasn't mine, it was my roomates. And she fed him beer out of a bottlecap. And it fell down drunk.
328  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Married+kids in NL on: 2005 September 18, 23:56:13
When I took out a married couple, I had them get in the car, go downtown, and then ask for a date. It went very well, and she gave him (he asked her) flowers. I imagine that if you didn't want to hire a nanny, you could have the whole family go downtown, and once there have the kids go do their own thing and have the couple go on a date. I guess if you have a toddler or infant you would need a nanny.

I've had blank want icons too, but only with college graduates. In fact, out of six graduates, only one still has his six want slots and two locks. They are all permanent platinum, so I don't mind the loss of the slots all that much. Four of the six got icons back after a couple of days of gameplay and haven't had a problem since (it could have been the same want that eventually expired) and two of them I haven't really played much but they seem to be the worst about it, only showing the want that I locked and never rolling up new wants that display.
I wanted to do the fix where you extract an object file from your disk, but for that fix you used the University disk, and I can't find the same file on the Nightlife one. I'm worried about using the University one, so I think that family will sit it out for the patch.

Inge, thank you for actually taking them time to check into the code of your hacks and for doing it so quickly. I know a lot of people are saying this or that hack works just fine, but as you noted, we're all knew to Nightlife and they may be missing out on some options or interactions that they aren't aware of. I'd rather wait for the creators to give the green light themselves.
I second that. Good modder! Good modder!
331  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 18, 20:51:17
Yes, but I mean, can I delete char files #237-450? I had 237 files before I got the bug, no children were born, and then after I got the bug I ended up with close to 450. Is it safe to assume they are gardeners, and no one has a memory of meeting them, so I can delete them?

It *should* be okay if no one was born.  Can you use the latest SimPe (QA version) and make sure all those new characters are from NPCs?  I don't want you to lose any data, so you may want to backup that neighborhood just to be sure.
Worked great, thank you Smiley.

Edit to add ~ Oh yeah, just remembered. Well another thread reminded me. What about the blank icons? I know after installing University a lot of people had a corrupted objects package and had to copy it from their University disk to their computer manually. Something wrong with the installer. Anyway, I've got that again, but only with six sims that are all permanent platinum college graduates. I have no other permanent platinum non graduates or college graduates who arent pp to compare and say it seems to be one of those states causing the issue. I tried to find an objects file on the Nightlife disk to use the University fix, but there is not the same kind of file that I can find. I don't know if I should use the University one, something tells me that would be a very bad idea.
So. Are blank icons fixed in the Nightlife patch?

I had gravestones vanish. I had Tybalt select "Move all gravestones to..." while on the lot, then took him to Gothier Greens using a taxi, place all the gravestones in his inventory, move one gravestone out of the way from where his family plot would be, place that stone somewhere else, place all the gravestones in order of relation to each other (I liked the system at this point. Having Tybalt there ment I could check his family tree), then leave the lot by taxi.
I reentered the lot in neighborhood build mode, and all the gravestones were gone. They didn't save. I know they wern't simply invisible because the one I moved that was already there was back in it's original location. I double checked by having Tybalt go back to the lot, they wern't there in live mode either.
333  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone had a house party yet? on: 2005 September 18, 20:39:16
I put intProp maxNumOfVisitingSims 8 in my startup cheat file and it works for parties, groups, and it seems to help on community lots too. I don't think the game really reads the requirements right, because when I looked in the graphics rules file, my computer met all the highest setting options.
334  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where's the blur gone? :P on: 2005 September 18, 20:34:41
MY GOD! MY PRISTINE EYES ARE TAINTED AND RUINED BY YOUR BLATANT POSTING OF SEXUALLY SUGESTIVE BARBIE DOLLS!!!

Sorry. Temporarily possesed by Jack Thompson. Was she interruped by a birthday while taking a free will bath, and is she outgoing? I had that happen once before. Supposed to be an actual feature. Though I think the blur might be supposed to be there, hard to tell since back then my startup cheat worked just fine for nekid sims.

Were you using JM's hack at the time?  The reason I ask is because I've been using it, and have just assumed that it works because no one has said anything about it in the thread about hacks that do or don't work.  And I've been to more than a few lots with coffee bars on them--I hope I'm not screwed.
I'm not using any hacks until Mr. JMP opens up his nightlife code and looks at his hack code and declares it okay. I'll use juice bars until then.

*gasp* You're here on SATURDAY Mr. Maxoid? Wow, I love your dedication! Can you... pretty please, take a look at this thread? http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=611.0

I am using the 71.89 drivers, you can find them here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html
There are newer drivers here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_78.01.html
but I never download the newest drivers unless I have to or if I hear it fixes a bug I have. I've had problems in the past of updating drivers causing new problems that never get fixed, like bad artifacting and crashing in Sim City. I have to roll my stupid drivers back every time I play that game. Anyway, mine work with TS2 just fine. Oh, and I am on XP home edition.
339  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 17, 17:39:25
Oh Crap Sad  I was thinking about putting crammyboys preventative back in a few minutes ago, looks like I'll have to now.  Let us know if the portal replacement still works with Nightlife please!
Well, I would, but before I got that link, I was already in the process of bulldozing and replacing their house. So I can't test it yet, but will if/when I get the bug again.
340  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 17, 17:18:16
No no no! Most Brits throw a fit if you use the word soccer.
yeah Cheesy.
If it was the 'missing entrance portal' slowdown bug, it'll keep recurring until the portal is replaced.  I don't know if the usual portal replacement kit works with NL, but I don't see anything in the thread saying that it doesn't...

DC

Cool, ty. Never heard of this fix, other stuck people I got were on foot, so clearing visitors kept it gone.
341  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 17, 16:43:48
I'm off-topic *hides inside a stuck kicky bag*
Hell this is the longest thread I've ever seen here that stayed on topic for so long. I think everyone is behaving for the Maxoid's sake. Otherwise it would be about goats, the Carribean, and football. Oh yeah, and what the British slang for football is. I beleive it is soccer by the way.
This is by no means an encouragement to stray. Definately keep on topic so the Maxoid doens't leave for fear of a breakdown.
342  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A huge problem on: 2005 September 17, 16:40:04
my maid leaves very early too recently, like in the noon, when there are still toilets and dishes to clean. i don't have nightlife. i'm wondering if this is relevant...
Do you have any doors on diagonal walls? I bet you do. I bet sometimes you can only get options to serve "instant meal" and nothing else on the fridge. Only when you get in the kitchen, you get more options.
That actually seems to be fixed in Night Life.
343  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / A question about the slowdown bug and deleting char files in Night Life on: 2005 September 17, 16:24:22
Ok, I have a lot that is very bugged. Every sim hour on the hour, my portals get jammed. I used the debugger to clear offworld visitors. The first time I had 30, the second time I had 40 something, the third time I had 55. So I paused, alt tabbed, checked my characters folder. So happens yesterday I wrote down the number of characters I had so I could go to a lot with a barista and see if the game generated a new character file. It did, so that bug isn't fixed yet. Anyway, I've had no children born since then, and my file number shot up from 237 to 433. Looks like my slowdown bug has been going on for a while, maybe in more than one lot.
This is my question. SimPE is not working with Night Life. I am assuming that all of the files are going to be created in numerical order. Can I select files 238 to 433 and simply delete them? These characters have never met anyone, I'm assuming they are gardeners since it seems to start happening at 9am, and it's on a Saturday in my simland so it's not the bus. I think that comes at 8 anyway. I guess I could try it and back everything up.
Off to bulldoze the lot. Man it's nice to have inventory, don't loose a thing, and I don't even loose the house I love since I made my lot catalog read only Smiley.

Edit to add ~ Okay, so I thought that if I sorted by last date modified, the gardeners would be at the end (except for my current family) because they were the last created. But that did't work. Is it really safe to assume that character files #237-4## are gardeners? I had already visited downtown once before I wrote down 237, so all townies should have been generated.
344  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 17, 16:12:36
Ok, for people suddenly only being able to invite two people (I have no idea why I got this, in my Graphics Rules.sgr file my computer met the highest specs), use intProp maxNumOfVisitingSims 8 in your startup file. That doesn't get written over.
345  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 17, 16:06:12
Ruann, I ment was it fixed in the patch that is upcoming.
Man I just got the slowdown bug for the first time. I was able to use the lot debugger to clear visitors, but every sim hour the problem reoccured. The first time the debugger cleared 30 visitors, the second time 45 and this last time it was 55. I just alt tabbed and checked my charecter files for the neighborhood. It shot up from 237 to 433!!! And simpe isn't working with Nightlife for me to clear the new charecters.
346  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Major Tech Issue: Comp reboots when I scroll in NH view on: 2005 September 17, 16:01:53
I had that before and I have the same vid card you do, the exact same. I updated my drivers and it went away.
347  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Almost Starving to Death ... Should Have Ordered Grilled Cheese on: 2005 September 17, 09:09:54
There is an aspiration reward that lets you change aspirations. Seeing as how aspiration rewards must have humerous side effects if only green or below in aspiration, this one has a chance of the green cheese aspiration for its faliure state.
348  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 17, 06:14:27
Has the problem with the Maxis Floor Lamp - The Tulip Lamp - been fixed?
Yeah, I'd like to know that too. In case you aren't familiar with it, some people do not get all the options for redecorating the lamp, it looks like something uncolorable when you purchase it and you can't use the decorating tool on it. I have the same problem with the most expensive non four poster bed. I didn't even know I had a problem until someone made a fix for it.
Stuck invisible Kicky-Bags still happen with Nightlife (blocked a sink in the kitchen, first lot that was played, during the first ever kicky-bag interaction after installing the EP  Roll Eyes I Hope the Nuke kicky-bag option on the lot debugger still works)
Let us know if it does, to tide us over until we get the patch.

Also, are bonfires fixed? People were saying that when the bonfire is "out" the fire keeps burning, and even if you delete the bonfire, the graphics for the fire are still there, permanently. I've never even bought the bonfire because I didn't want to experience this.

By the way, the spawining of baristas appears to not be fixed.  I wrote down the number of char files in my neighborhood, went to a lot with a coffee bar (and I had been to a lot with one before, so any preliminary servers could be spawned if they wern't with instalation), and had no babies in my hood. When I was done with gameplay, I found one more char file in that folder than was there previously.
Looks like I'm back to juice bars on those lots.
349  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Almost Starving to Death ... Should Have Ordered Grilled Cheese on: 2005 September 17, 00:25:35
I'm keeping Titania a grilled cheese aspiration. She goes into platinum every dinner time simply by serving grilled cheese. When that want is fufilled, she keeps rolling "serve someone grilled cheese" and gets 2,500 points each time a family member grabs a plate. Sometimes she only rolls it once or twice, but that's still enough to get her into plat usually.
Only now I'm not letting her eat grilled cheese. I want to see what her faliure state looks like Smiley.
350  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife bugs on: 2005 September 17, 00:18:07
You can't be in the neighborhood you want to delete when you try to delete it. I knew that, but forgot it a couple of times.
