Title: AL Paving Problems
Post by: katysails on 2008 November 25, 18:29:20
:o Up until now, I have had no problems changing the lot terrain of streets nd sidewalks by suing moveobjects on. My neighborhood is medieval, so I use the lush dirt road tile called Near Dirt that matches the neighborhood road retain. This still works for residential lots and community lots, and is working in University and on vacation lots but for some reason, after I save, switch the lot zoning to apartment base, save again and leave, once I put a resident in an apartment I get back modern paved roads...very strange looking to say the least. Is there some new special thing one must do in AL to get the road terrain to match with the neighborhood road terrain?

suing moveobjects on.

Can I sue moveobjects on too? I think I have a strong case.

As far as your problem, have you tried editing the road after making the lot an apartment? Change it to apartment, save and exit, then go in and change the road. The game has to change the trashcan and mailbox when you change lot zoning, so that might be what's causing the reverting of the road, too.

Yes. Still doesn't work.

When you move someone into an apartment building, the game clones the lot and makes some changes to it.  Obviously, those changes include restoring the road to the original pattern.  You will probably have to use the apartment build cheats to fix the road for each occupied apartment:
boolProp aptBaseLotSpecificToolsDisabled false
boolProp aptSubLotSpecificToolsDisabled false

Be sure to look over the following thread to ensure that you understand these cheats and problems that you may encounter:

Or if you would prefer not to do that every time, kick everyone out first.

From what was said in the original quote:

after I save, switch the lot zoning to apartment base, save again and leave, once I put a resident in an apartment I get back modern paved roads...very strange looking to say the least. it sounds like kicking everyone out first won't help.  I haven't tested this, but it really sounds like katysails is not having problems with the apartment base (unoccupied building), but with the occupied apartment sublot.  If I am reading this correctly, then the only possible solution would be to modify the apartment sublot after it is cloned.
