Seen no pigs, flying or otherwise and OFB is dull... Maybe I'm doing something wrong? My sims are impossible, moody little gits who refuse to do anything - yes, I have autonomy on - but still... grrrr As for Maxis? Same old...

Well I couldn't resist trying the game out.
Best use of Servo.
Buy Servo the gym in the new area.
Take servo there and lower the price to the lowest possible.
Turn speed to max, go make dinner.
When you get back you will have a company with a huge rating and at least once servo will have jumped in the hot-tub or pool so will be running around shocking sims like crazy.
It just proves consumers are stupid. For a good deal they will put up with potentially lethal shocks, several times per trip.
'oh, only 10 bucks an hour? But a robot uses a tazer on me while I am here? SIGN ME UP!!!"
Heh, heh, heh... there is a God after all. If only for this I'm going to enjoy playing so much.

Well, it's good that there sems to be a debate as to whether the BBC have some other agenda regarding this programme, but from what I understand the scientist who developed it spent some time (years) making certain it only did what it was supposed to. And that is try to build an accurate forecast model that they can use reliably for weather. I've had a look at the site and most people seem to be happy enough, and there is no lag on my pc so I'm not certain why there is on other folks. Sorry. As for global warming, even if you take into account all of the factors that LauraW put forward, there has been such a rapid increase in mean temperature levels they are unable to account for it. Having done some research and watched one or two documentaries (I know I'm a biased greenie) it would seem that there is a correlation between the start of the industrial revolution (hey, knew us Brits were good for something!) and said rise in global temperature. Good old green house gases. Did any of you know that the glaciers in Antartica have decreased to such an extent that they can now get ruddy great ships into places where it was just ice plate? Fifty kilometres in as many years, I believe... I'm sorry, that's too scary for my feeble little self.

Interesting. However, whilst it may be true that scaremongery is rife (I take much that is put out in the media with a very large pinch of salt), there is no doubt that there is a bloody great hole in the ozone layer down in Antartica or that the polar ice caps are decreasing at a phenomenal rate. There are other issues closer to home that require examination too, such as the UK barely has a recognisable winter and this has happened in my lifetime - Methusalah I'm not as 47 ain't that old (I hope ). I just wish, Laeshanin, that I could get the programme to load on my PC, but it seems to just freeze with the CPU at max. I tried twice, but the same thing happened both times, so in the end I had to uninstall it.
That's a real shame, Z.Z. It's fascinating and, one hopes, useful. And my CPU reports it's running at max too but I've noticed no lag at all even when running a number of open windows and a game. (The machine I use is good enough but not-shit-off-a-shovel variety.) I also agree with J.M. about all the nonsense re. terrorism. The "information" so carefully rendered for the hoi-polloi manages to spread panic in the herd thus causing paranoia (which is sometimes good) but in this case is merely counter-productive. Recently in the UK the Government had a small pamphlet sent out to every household concerning the possibility of terrorist attack and what to do should something like this happen. Now, the UK has always been subject to terrorist attacks and I have always been aware of the issue at a certain level, but this little document managed to give me heartburn...I don't go for this stuff generally, but it really gave me pause. It was as if they were expecting a warhead to drop at any minute! Not good.

This is the link for this very cool site... bbc.cpdn.org I wasn't certain where I could put this so decided on a new topic, but also felt that there's one or two folk on MATY would be interested in trying this for themselves. Hope that hasn't raised too many issues however!

The singing horses are excellent and I just spent waaay too long playing with them. Hmmm, slightly worried about that. The eco site is just disturbing, but it was good to see that I try to live in a sustainable manner. Still, 1.7 planets is a worry. Thanks, Witch.

Wow. Amazing hack and totally awesome as is only befitting a true genius (overegging much but hey... ). As to how I use it, ah, that will be as the maestro intended it. However, as it's now the "season to be jolly" may I wish all those who believe in it A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS and those who don't: Blessed Be and may your Yule be splendiferous! Happy holidays everyone...

Bloody hell...! There's been a bit of drama then, guys? Sorry to hear Motoki has decided to take his leave of us for a while, but sometimes the outside world has a way of kicking in. What has startled me is that there are bona fide bigots on this site. Dearie me, don't idiots get about? That kind of vomit needs to remain securely kept from the rest of reasonable people, because you can live a looooooonnng time without hearing it. Hey ho...

The more I read about that add-on here and elsewhere, the happier I am that I don't have it.
Ditto on this. It seems like this little mini-pack comes with nearly as many bugs as a full-blown expansion. In fact they should use that in an advertising campaign. Quite a bargain. More bugs for your buck. Hehehehe... true, true, true.

Just to answer a quick question, Motoki, you can't drop other professions to acting so scriptwriters, janitors and others seem to stick at their original jobs. You can make janitors and builders into actors and stuff. But there must be an actual unemployed actor hanging around the Stage School. I see. I hadn't got any unemployed bods lurking so I guess that's why it didn't work for me. One thing that is frustrating is the lack of directors... my actors get pissy when I put them in that role.

I picked my copy up for £19.99 which works out at about $30, I think. So quite a bargain. Gonna go and play with it just now, but feel like torturing a few sims first.

Just to answer a quick question, Motoki, you can't drop other professions to acting so scriptwriters, janitors and others seem to stick at their original jobs. I tried on several occasions, just to be certain, and you aren't able to place them in the relevant areas at all. Like you, my building placement left a fair bit to be desired so I've decided to start over and see if I can do it a wee bit better this time. It is a good game and I really enjoyed playing it last night, even if, as others have pointed out, there's a lot of micromanagement. It's cool.

Happens to me all the time, and it is really annoying. I did find that having only one cot on the site helps (I used to have two because all that taking them upstairs or leaving the infant on the floor pissed me off even more) so this behaviour is a little better. Stupid simmies...

*shudders* I didn't get close enough to check for an icepick, and did the thoroughly cowardly thing i.e. hid in the dining room till the coast was relatively clear. Heh... the two people I was working with were too scared to go for a fag, so 'yay' weirdo!

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request: STOP SWOONING OVER ROMANCE SIMS!!!
|
on: 2005 November 22, 23:17:10

If you can "fix" the swooning to be smarter, by all means go for it! Once J.M. has updated the Romance mod, I'll probably find it quite amusing if my Romance sims in open relationships go around swooning at other Romance sims in similarly-open relationships. (Hey, it could be a good way to find willing victims for the Woohoo with 20 People LTW!). It's not even too bad if unattached non-Romance sims are doing it. But it bothers me to have sims in monogamous couples supposedly eyeing up other people . If 3 out of their 6 Wants are "Flirt with Partner", "Kiss Partner" & "Woohoo with Partner", why would they even want to look at anyone else? Once again, our beloved third party modders come to the rescue & fix Maxian stupid logic . I've come to the conclusion that EA want us to play 'em like tarts. That's what they are with all that nonsense about giving another sim the eye! AndI've decided that Family sims are just a royal pain in the arse so most of mine are Knowledge.
