1  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Yup, I broke it - families, CAS won't load - FIXED on: 2009 December 16, 14:02:38
Aha that does help. Thanks for the tip.  I don't like to randomly delete things that I have no idea about though I was pretty sure the files without names that are just numbers were junk but clearing that up eases my mind about purging the stupid things.

Budgie - where are those programs from? I think my biggest problem is useless hair going back to the days when there wasn't a great variety of odd colored hair or decent male styles and I had to take what I could get. Most of them look like utter crap now. Just killed everything I could find from Genesims.
2  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Yup, I broke it - families, CAS won't load on: 2009 December 14, 12:59:42
Corrupted install is a possibility or the files themselves could have gotten corrupted - that tends to happen more than I'd like to admit with this game. No SecuROM so I know that isn't it.. I'll try to cut down the CC folder, give it another spin and if it's a no-go, I'll just deal with a clean uninstall/re-install because I seriously cannot figure why the crap it's reacting this way.

EDIT - Cleaned out some items in my objects catalog, I had duplicates. Obviously they had different names/numbers etc. Killed an entire section of hair I've been wanting to for months and got rid of some genetics I didn't need too. I read some other threads here and went to delete all the cache files (pesky things, this didn't work before but nothing wrong with a second go) and cleared my thumbnails. Boom, game loaded like a charm. No idea which did it but at least it's fixed for now.

I'd still appreciate any suggestions to help cut down my CC - what do files with only numbers and no names mean? Is there a viewer I can use to just see what's what and help purge the non-awesome from my folder?

Sorry about that Pes, won't do it again. Anything I should attach instead? I have no idea why it's doing this except the CC issue brought up earlier.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Yup, I broke it - families, CAS won't load on: 2009 December 14, 11:18:26
Yeah, I have a LOT of hair I want to trash but can't seem to find an easy way to do so that doesn't involve hours of sorting via Body Shop. Skins and hacks are sorted.

Suggestions?

This seems to be the log I'm getting on crash..
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Yup, I broke it - families, CAS won't load on: 2009 December 14, 04:48:28
Aw crap? Really? My CC folder is insane at this point, I believe 8GB.
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Yup, I broke it - families, CAS won't load - FIXED on: 2009 December 14, 04:16:47
This has happened a good three times now and I've tried everything my non-awesome brain can to fix it. I start a new hood out just fine - add sims and then after about a day or two, the game will no longer load any families or CAS. It just either hangs into eternity or I get the "The application has crashed" notice. The only hacks I have are awesome approved, no SimPE hacking, nothing. I'm not sure what sort of log to attach if one even exists but this is getting annoying. I just restarted Veronaville from scratch (as in got a clean copy from disk and restarted), had a few days of awesome gaming and suddenly it's crash city again for no reason I can see.

I've got all the packs up to Mansion and Garden stuff (no Ikea), running an Nvidia card.

I'm half asleep and frustrated, just let me know any additional info you need. I see no solution other than running a clean hood and only two families at this point.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wants to see the ghost of penguin?! on: 2008 April 06, 07:59:52
I don't know if that's a glitch or just plain awesome.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: WOW EA admits to a cock up on: 2008 April 06, 07:58:46
So we have to reinstall?

We can't just delete skins.package and replace it with a clean one someone might like to upload?

Re-installation is what they were recommending the BBSers to do, since EA probably doesn't thing that they're intelligent enough to grab said files from their installation discs.

Maybe EA has finally figured some of us don't HAVE installation discs  Tongue
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FreeTime Patch Released on: 2008 April 06, 07:56:48
Ahahaha, this makes me so glad I stopped giving EA my money. I did go ahead and install the patch but I took precautions. About 6 hours of play and I'm not noticing any cock-ups.
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Error:Trying to route while out of world pops up at Dance Contest on Hobby Lot on: 2008 March 10, 22:14:00
Yup, getting this too. Mine was with a townie named "Gavin".
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Entire Sims and lots missing after crash on: 2008 March 10, 21:57:40
I think I finally blew up my game. I had moved several lots into the bin as my Pleasentview was getting too populated for my graphics card to properly handle. I relocated some in the Downtown area - they're fine. The rest I decided to plop down in Bluewater. Aside from taking forever, the transplant went well and was finished when I decided to move an empty business lot from the bin into the neighborhood. Immediately, a massive lag occured followed by the BSoD and several errors about so and so not being a valid Windows image. I shut the game and computer down.

Today, coming back to Bluewater, I find all the lots I placed are gone. Not only that but they aren't in the lot bin, they aren't anywhere that I can find them. I also suddenly have six suburb files but only one suburb available ("Bluewater"). I haven't checked to see if the Sims lost are call/invitable. They still exist on family trees. I'm guessing their data must be somewhere.

I have all expansions - Free Time bug?
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 08, 14:24:50
Have your sims got a dog? They might be peeing on the plants/shrubs and thus spawning weeds.
It helps to have Yellow Pee. Yellow Pee does not spawn weeds.

Seriously? That makes Yellow Pee even more awesome than it was before.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 07, 22:49:33
This is what I get for not paying attention to what site uses what terms for it.  Tongue
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 07, 22:11:04
Roll Eyes All "boolprop" does is report the errors. The errors haven't stopped, you just have stopped being told about them.

I don't think we'll ever convince the Sheeple of this.

You assume they're even bothering to listen or understand what boolprop actually is.

First time I played, I had one household that suffered from the "too many iterations" error in a constant stream, mainly with the pets. A sweep of downloads to remove the un-awesome didn't fix it but oddly enough, typing in maxmotives did. Boolprop hasn't popped up an error since.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FT no CD-Crack on: 2008 March 01, 08:10:26
Works for me. Maybe I'll get a used copy of Free Time then and just No-CD crack it.

Well, now THAT would *technically* be illegal, if  the previous owner still plays the game. (If not, I think it's legit.) Of course, many of the users on this site pirate the games, so using someone else's disk to install the game is hardly as bad. I personally refuse to buy any more Sims 2 games after having plagued myself with SecuRom. I myself am debating pirating the game, but I won't get the game at all until most of the borkenness and irritations have been fixed.

Well I was considering pirating for the sole reason that EA owes me $100+ for computer repairs thanks to their shitty copy protection but I have no idea how to install or use a pirated copy. Google is not my friend in this, I need plain and simple instructions.

Otherwise, I'll grab a used copy off Ebay once it's patched/no CD cracks are patched.

Now what about Teen Style Stuff? Does that require a no-cd crack if you're running all expansions up to BV?

17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FT no CD-Crack on: 2008 March 01, 01:33:10
Hmn.. interesting. So I can install BV but SecuRom never runs or installs unless I play directly from the BV CD? This the case with others like Free Time? I'm assuming I can score a No-CD crack from the same site that was linked earlier.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FT no CD-Crack on: 2008 March 01, 01:02:11
Okay here's a stupid question and feel free to answer it via PM. Since I got screwed by EA over the whole BV/SecuRom thing, I won't buy any of their games now. How do I play my legal version of BV (aside from putting it in the disc tray, I am scared to death to) and stuff like Free Time? Yes I know the obvious answer "you don't" but I'm sure there are "other means".
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Blue Screen of Doom on: 2007 October 02, 07:58:43
There is a known crasher bug with (pre-8) Nvidia cards and TS2.

Put the following in your userstartup.cheat file:
Code:
boolprop useshaders false
The downside of this is, you will lose the fish in the aquaria and pools.

Another way to prevent the crashes is to play in windowed mode, but keep in mind this is more heavy on the system. Your specs show your system should be able to handle it, though.

I must now join your cult. After four days of nVidia and EA giving me crap, installing, uninstalling, reinstalling, running data tests, blaming me, checking my CPU, my memory, my drivers... this has stabilized the game enough to run one hour and counting with no crash.

Why didn't ANYONE but MATY have this info?
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Blue Screen of Doom on: 2007 September 30, 17:18:01
Sign me up for the nVidia nightmare of non-awesomeness. My 5600FX ran the game fine but I upgraded to a 7600GT and now I am in black/blue screen Hell. The latest drivers did squat, I'm trying an older one that was suggested and playing in windowed mode which I both hate and love. I don't use a start up cheat, do I just enter that shading thing via the cheat window?
21  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti-Redundancy *CRITICAL FOR BVp0* on: 2007 September 16, 13:26:57
Hack is working wonderfully, I'm showing only one tour guide in my character section but 3 of the pickpockets and 3 ninjas. I'm assuming this is normal since I've been on two vacations with no problems or mass spawns clogging up my hood.
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game Not Loading on: 2007 May 12, 02:12:20
Yeah just attempted that. Hoods aren't the issue, neither are D/Ls so I won't lose anything from a reinstall except time. Something must have gotten reset/rewritten in the basic game files
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game Not Loading on: 2007 May 12, 00:19:06
Aww bloody Hell...

Is it safe to save the neighborhoods and port them over at least?
24  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Game Not Loading on: 2007 May 11, 17:04:43
Well I upgraded to the new SimPE, it said it had to "reset" a file and now neither Body Shop nor my game will load. They both crash close to the end, for my game it's right after the "reticulating splines" message. Any ideas? I tried deleting the usual suspects - groups.cache and them. No luck. It's not regenerating them either. I've got a fully loaded game, all expansions, all stuff packs.

And it's doing this VANILLA with NO downloads or hacks as well.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets patch released on: 2007 February 04, 16:54:32
I removed my entire downloads folder before patch install and backed up my neighborhoods. The maids have turned blonde, as in most other games, but the one child I had transition had the correct hair color upon toddlerizing. No strays downtown for me plus my game is loading faster, both of those are bonuses. My game isn't jumping back to the desktop during title screen loading and pausing either.
