Title: How do I break up an engagement without making them hate each other?
Post by: FourCats on 2007 December 21, 01:22:47
I don't want Cassandra and don engaged, but I want don to still be in love with her.

I don't think you can get rid of the engagement through the game without breaking the love.  But you can do it with simpe although right now i don't think its proper functional with bv.

I do have all the expansion packs.  What about a hack that is BV compatible?

There's a thread in this very forum with links to the new SimPE. It's not fully final as there are some kinks that need to be ironed out, but it's handling sim editing just fine.

okay, I got the new simPe up and running.
How do I edit relationships?

Dare I say it?  There's also the InSimenator.  *shrugs*

What about Squinge's EasyBreakup (to be found in the Sims2Graveyard (http://www.sims2graveyard.com/))? Afaik, it still works with BV.

I just tried out Squinge's easybreakup, in light of this thread, and I couldn't get it to work with BV.  I can't remember how low the relationships needed to be, but I had testingcheats on, and slid them down pretty far with no luck.  Far enough, in fact, that the game default break up was there, and I just used that.  The game default break up DOES make them hate each other though, very much.

The best current option I know of is inteen, but had to ditch that due to conflicts.  So I'm also still looking for a good mod to accomplish this.  The couple I used were dating in high school, and wanted them to part ways mutually in college without too much animosity.  Now they hate each other.  Oh well.

I've broken up engaged couples and then had them rebuild their relationships.  It can be done -- apologize a lot.  If you have Seasons, one of the juices -- I forget which, at the moment -- will erase the furious state -- that makes things go even faster.

In SimPE, open your neighbourhood and then open Cassandra.  Under the relations tab, you will see who she has relationships with.  Scroll down the list and click on Don.  At the far right you will see details of her relationship with Don and Don's relationship with her.  Uncheck the "engaged" check box.  Click the commit button and save and exit SimPE.

I have an idea!  What if I use sim age cheat to age one down to a teen or younger then back up again?

Edit: that didn't work.  I aged him down to a teen, but he was still engaged.  Then I aged him to a child; he was still engaged, the the social worker took him away :P

I exited without saving and now I'm trying sim PE

[6.13] Strawberry Juice

Ingredients = 3 Strawberries

This drink will clear your Sim's furious meters a bit. When you are furious
with a Sim, this drink will remove some of the time on the counter a bit.
Nice if your Sim wants to kiss and make up. Shove 3 Strawberries into the
blender, blend and drink.

I have a new problem with don now.  I aged him to a teen trying to end the engagement, but that didn't work.

So I used sim PE, via your kind directions, and successfully ended his engagement.

I went back to the game to play him.   I aged him back to an adult, and now his face is bright blue, and not attached, there is just empty space where his face should be and a blue face shape blob near him.

I age him to elder or teen and his face is back.

What gives?  the only thing I changed in simPE is the engagement. (oh and I bumped the relationship up to 100/100 just for kicks)

That happened to me once.

I used one of the options under Fix in the debugger and it went away.

Can't remember which one it was but clicking all of them can't hurt.

FFS Lot Debugger (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,72.0.html)

Fix -> Flashing Blue -> SimName would be the first thing to try.

Alternately, GET THEE TO A MIRROR!

I've had this and generally, it involved aging them with InSim. Next time, use "Grow Up" not Set Age.. Adult. And take the sim to a mirror, slap a full face mask on him, click the check mark. Take him to the mirror again, remove mask, click check mark. He should be fine and nonblue.

Or... ACCEPT HIM AS HE IS! (sob sob)

Actually, I think "frobnication" will kill you. You and your family. And your neighbor's dog.

I've always wondered about the frobnication thing...  what the hell is frobnication any way?

I never even noticed it, and I thought I had clicked on everything the lot debugger had to offer.  Must look again.

And here I thought I had RTFMed properly.  I've never shift-clicked on the debugger.  I can sense a whole new world opening up.  (Now watch.  It'll be completely anticlimactic).

The mirror thing worked thanks,

And I've seen that blue man video yesterday.  That was weird, and why would someone drink silver?

If you have Insim, you can use the Relations Adjuster (not the Quick Relations, though they're both hearts) to get tid of the "Engaged" flags. :D Just another option!

Have fun, jolrei - but be careful.  The nuke pregnancy token thing just doesn't seem to work, though.  And I *still* haven't found out what this frobnication thing is!

Could be tested on a junk hood.  And no, I don't think I'll be just insanely clicking on obscure debugger buttons just for the hell of it.  :)

Looks like frobnicate is just a fancy name for tweeking.  I haven't had the guts to find out what you can frob using it.

Maybe its just there to frob our curiosity.

Yes but is this the PESCADO definition?

Title: Re: How do I break up an engagement without making them hate each other?
Post by: J. M. Pescado on 2007 December 24, 01:16:54
Yes, yes it is. And you shouldn't mess with the Frobnicate option because it exists to let you directly and crudely manually edit individual datafields in-game. However, because EAxis did not include any kind of interface for DISPLAYING the datafields of an object, it basically a dangerous and unstable option you shouldn't use unless you know exactly why and how you should be doing it, which will be obvious if you know why you are doing it.

He had his own home remedy for psoriasis. It had a little side effect. He is now emulating his hero, PaPa Smurf. Some people are very attached to their home remedies. I have a grandmother that swears by potatoes to rid you of warts. I know it's mind over body, but if it works for her I'm not going to screw over her mindset by dissecting it too much.

I like home remedies. But at least mine aren't bunkus and produce immediate physically observable results, mostly because I favor the direct, physical solution.
