1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 November 22, 12:02:11
I completely reinstalled.

Everything worked tickety boo so I added in floorthickness, nointro and nomosaic mods....still fine
ditto with some CC sofas (Karlstad)

added in Aikeas default skins and Morgades nipples ...OK

added in more CC mainly paintings...still OK

Loading times so far reasonably quick and game runs quite smoothly with all graphic options high and on, except for distance and neighbouring lots.
I only can have 2G RAM and have an ATI X1300 card, so not superspecs

added in some CC from Stylist...loading time to Lot absolute pants, therefore removed which improved that

yeah, it's trial and error, and we might have to be very choosy about our CC.
Over at MTS there is a thread in Sims discussion which is suggesting CC of .package variety is causing a lot of people's problems, whereas EA content is fine. I have Store stuff by the ton (thanks to sharing by others here) and loath as I am to say this, it seems not to negatively impact on my game.

I don't have WA yet, have patched to 1.7 and I have just got this same same problem with the blue lots.

I had just reinstalled Lemon Candy's stuff and then took it out again as my game ran almost at standstill....go back in and WTF.

Possily it is a patch related issue not directly a WA one. But I am by no means an expert so it is only a guess.

As it is something I am not too bothered by because I was just tinkering with the game to make sure it would run OK with WA when I get it next week,
I'll just reinstall the thing for now.

i've thought about this a bit more and reflected on Lucy Burb some more....i have nothing better to do with my Xmas Day

I have no hacks which relate to Wants and/or Fears myself
Every time i have ever played Lucy Burb in college, she has never been too keen on that book learning malarkey, seems to be part of her
character and whatever Aspiration she is given
before Pets she always wanted dates, babies etc (i never played uni with OFB as my laptop struggled...i have a new PC now)
Pets just seems to have replaced all those wants
Maybe with Seasons she'll be hankering after being struck by lightning....
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Numenor's Scriptorium on: 2006 December 25, 14:43:23
it's just a Shortcut way to add the relevant scripts to items such as stairs, walls foundations and the like.
it prevents user error when manually editing scripts
I've been using it without any problems (well not that i've noticed anyway)
i am not certain of its perceived awesomeness however
and i think it works without necessarily having any EPs...you'd need to check the blurb from Numenor
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet relationship weirdness (feature?) on: 2006 December 25, 02:31:03
Sarah Crittur still seemed to like the owner i moved her in with even after i had to get rid of her to the adoption agency shortly after her pups were born
Danny Crittur suddenly hated her though.....maybe this is because the pups aren't his....
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OMGPETZ so cute...pass the shotgun on: 2006 December 25, 02:27:51
yes it does seem to be a problem with YAs at Uni who have pets back in the family home.
i've got Lucy Burb with nothing but wants to do something with her dog
i usually cheat her aspiration to max every so often with the DMA burglar alarm thingummy
or merolas painting
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OMGPETZ so cute...pass the shotgun on: 2006 December 25, 00:53:37
I get stuck like this with certain sims.  They can be any aspiration, and roll up endless strings of "get a puppy" AND "get a kitten" AND "get a puppy/kitten" AND "play with some stupid stray I've only seen once" etcetera, etcetera...

all those PLUS fearing that the said virtually unknown stray gets sprayed by a skunk.....
perhaps that would be a blessing....any sensible sim wouldn't have any wants to pet the damn thing afterwards...
would they?Huh
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sounds like the kind of bonus I get at work! on: 2006 October 24, 10:38:28
My cat got a $10,000 bonus. Actually, the pets are pretty good earners, and they don't cost that much too keep. Starting a Legacy with a pet or two would definitely make that first week a lot easier.

i have to send the pets out to work and keep the sim unemployed just so he/she can keep up with the pet maintenance and training  Undecided

then 2 cats in one household got fired on the first day of their jobs due to me clicking at random on the chance cards they got ( i never read the scenarios to these things i just click whichever option my cursor gets to first) only they weren't actually fired......their jobs remained viable and off they went the next day as if nothing had happened
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets won't eat on: 2006 October 23, 11:43:10
yeah i boolpropped so that these stupid dogs would eat
in the first version i was getting the sim to cook for them....ffs i wouldn't be doing that irl...but got pissed off with all that malarkey
so the dog warden sim took all the animals away due to those 2 fools
so i exited without saving, boolpropped and all is hunky dory with them now
well apart from the pissing on the carpets and the wrecking of the furniture and the flinging around of a visiting cat during a fight..hehe that was funny and i'm a cat lover
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Less than a day, already a hack is desperately needed! on: 2006 October 19, 11:25:34
Yeah, that's why I'm saying my cat is unusual. He doesn't bring gifts. He murders in secret and makes sure the bodies are never found. Somehow I knew this cat was the one for me when he ripped off my face as a kitten.

you were a kitten once?? Undecided
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Buying a laptop, advice needed on: 2006 April 29, 08:11:51
i didn't have to hack my graphics rules to play
mine's a toshiba satellite with an integrated unsupported ATI radeon 7000, omega drivers and set so the graphics card uses 128mb
i have all the expansion packs and each seem sto make my game play better. don't quite know how that works but it does

i'd definitely go with a cooler pad for it to sit on whatever you get. mine used to crash frequently because of overheating but never does now i have a cooler pad
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ATI video card tweaks on: 2006 April 19, 23:22:25
i've been using my radeon 7000 with omega drivers for ages on my laptop. the only disappointement was the last update which turned my graphics to mush, but it's the first time out of many updates to do this. usually there is an improvement.
omega drivers are very good, i think, for laptop users but you can't tweak too much when the card is integrated

in my job i have to support and encourage new mums in breastfeeding. i too, understand that breast is best and all that. i understand the physiology and psychology behind breastfeeding. but at the end of the day women have to do what is comfortable for them. babies thrive either way

True, that's all well and good. However, its the attitudes, like some expressed in this thread, that KEEP moms from being able to do what is best for the babies, and best for them. It isn't realistic to stay home for a year + while breastfeeding. Lives go on. It isn't realistic to expect every mom to own a good pump and/or be able to get milk expressed well that way so they can feed a bottle in public. I breastfeed, in part, because I don't want to deal with bottles. Mann women choose breastfeeding to save money. A good pump is $150-250.

We're talking about feeding babies here folks. Not giving public blowjobs.

No one has a right to not be offended. Just.. look.. away. I have to do that lots. Like when I see a mom in walmart with her tiny little baby in the cart, crying his little heart out, and she just ignores him. I want to go pick him up. But I can't. I have to just look away. The neglect we inflict upon the tiniest members of our society ought to be what offends people, not seeing a mom caring for her child in such a loving way and feeding it at the same time.

whoa!! just accidentally pressed the thanks button instead of the quote one....LOL wasn't epecting the result
0po-
anyhoo.....i am not arguing with this. that wasn't supposed to be how it  comes across
i do take issue slightly with pumps though. some women do see them as an easy option and want to use them from day one before breastfeeding is established. nothing gets the milk going and established well like a baby.
it would be good if more shops and particularly restaurants/cafes could have a quiet room where mums can breastfeed in privacy if thats what they wish. and yeah, would be good too if attitudes changed so that mums could stay where they were and feed. but i can't see that happening anytiime soon while breasts remain sexual
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's Up With The Fish? on: 2006 April 14, 02:56:21

I belive it's a cultural thing.  I'm sure that many of our friends "across the pond" are wondering why the hell this is such a fiery debate

Quote
Well, they are a lot more open about these things in Europe, but if you ask me it doesn't make them hate their bodies any less.

As a Brit, and also a mother, I'm gonna say things. Cos I can. Seeing people breastfeed in public makes me uncomfortable. I like breasts, they look pretty, they're nice to touch. I entirely support brestfeeding, it's excellent for the baby, of course, and all this, hooray for breastfeeding, I am in no way putting it down. But nonetheless, seeing people breastfeeding in public makes me uncomfortable.

I was never brestfed as a child, my mother was on medication that would have made it very much not good for me, and I'll admit now, I tried breastfeeding my daughter for only a few weeks, she was a mean little sod, who chewed with her little baby gums and made my nipples bleed, and I only ever did it at home, even if friends were round but never in public, so I'm not really a leading expert on it. Fact is though, because of the culture, mostly brought about in the 50's and 60's (my mother and her sisters were never breastfed either, simply cos my grandma didn't think it was 'nice', whihc I understand was a fairly common thing at the time) of breasts being a sexual thing, I just don't know where to look when a woman whips out her tit and latches a baby onto it.
Because boobies *giggles scandallously* are normally something hidden away, your eye is natrally drawn to one if it's exposed. Also, I dunno if it's just me, but I get that thing guys at urinals do or don't have, where I want to compare, but like I said, maybe that's just me. Problem is, of course, feeding babies is what they're there for, it's the best way to feed babies, all of the above pro-breastfeeding things. Which makes it entirely inappropriate to want to look. And that is why I find it uncomfortable to see women breastfeeding in public. Not cos of any 'EEek, shock, howrude, boobs!!!' issue, or cos I think formula is better, or ANYTHING like that, just...cos of society, here in Britain almost as much as over there, it's got a stigma aattatched.

It's a shame, but Ima have to sit on the side of 'Yes, it's lovely and natural, but I don't want to have to see it'.

O, and the fact that this mod exists makes me happy...>.> Hehe...

a thoughtful and honest post Nivaya
i understand the sentiments
it is a bit of a stgma here to have your tits out for breastfeeding, but apparently ok on page 3 of a  national daily tabloid for titillation (excuse the pun).
i breastfed each of mine for 8 weeks each, that was their lot as i hated it, hated the feeling, hated the (probably imagined) smell of stale milk about my person, the leakage and all. i did breastfeed in public under a shawl, which most women tend to do. we don't want our boobs on display any more than anyone wants to look at them .....if said boobs are breastfeeding. get them out on a saturday night in town when pissed...thats ok

it's all somewhat about double standards imo....eeeeuwww breastfeeding/phwoar tits

in my job i have to support and encourage new mums in breastfeeding. i too, understand that breast is best and all that. i understand the physiology and psychology behind breastfeeding. but at the end of the day women have to do what is comfortable for them. babies thrive either way
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Good reason for *not* getting FFS (Family Fun Stuff) on: 2006 April 14, 02:35:52
i am quite happy to buy expansion packs
what i am not happy to part with my cash for is a Booster pack containing crap. even worse, crap which can interfere with how my game plays
and agreeing with Nivaya here, i would be ecstatic if maxis would burn the hats, chav (i don't need or want a bunch of ASBOs running round my 'hoods) or otherwise styled, and stupid costumes
trouble is if they did do that who knows what they would put in their place
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's Up With The Fish? on: 2006 April 14, 02:22:12
hmmm...just checked mine and useshaders is on...no fish
but the chocolate pi addition is set to false
i can't remember why this was needed in the lighting mod, maybe for the effects

i'll keep mine as it is then because i have no need of the fish really

but wonder why the problem only occured after OfB? choc pis edition of the lighting system? change in OfB code?
just would be interesting to know

i use the diploma as it gives you all the things if you want them.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ofb's stage on: 2006 April 13, 11:17:41
i haven't had any problems wallpapering the split level fondation but i know others have
there was mention of the problem at MTS2 so you could try a search there
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Squinge found something interesting... on: 2006 April 13, 00:01:25
the point about "if you've never done it, you don't know what you are talking about" was aimed at people that are saying "why don't you just pump?" I think.  Pumping was IMPOSSIBLE for me unless I actually went to the hospital and got pumped by a huge machine like a cow milker.  Pumping is HARD.  They had to do it to get my milk flowing, and I tried to pump later with an electric pump, but my daughter was the only one who could get milk out of me. :p

because generally, ony a baby can stimuate the body to release the hormones to trigger the let- down reflex
some sucker of a pump just isnt going to do it anywhere near as efficiently
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It feels so quiet in here... on: 2006 April 12, 12:52:38
the only way i got in today was by clicking on a link at laverwinkle. the hostfile thing never worked and typing in the IP number dirctly into the browser worked only up to a point

text only though

still, i'm in and can read about the drama first hand. shame i have to go to work today really
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A RUMOUR about the next expansion pack on: 2006 April 06, 21:07:46
well as i was typing, Renatus came along and put it better than i was doing Cheesy

nowt much to add but, well, i don't like Uni much and certainly can live without involving zombies, but i got the EP for some of the other features/objects et al

maxis and EA aren't going to get it right for all of the people all of the time. if they ever brought out a celebrity/showbizzy type EP i doubt very much i would get it, but i know others would leap at it.

so at the risk of developing a wooly coat and a certain tremor to my voice....yeah. i wouldn't mind pets
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Squinge found something interesting... on: 2006 April 06, 20:00:10
commiserations to those on metformin...its a horrible drug but i suppose if it helps with your insulin resistance and PCOS then so be it, but there are alternatives you could ask your docs about

funny this debate about breastfeeding and sim-nipples and so forth. i'll keep out of the former as i am a midwife and a one time breastfeeder of 3 kids (not all at once) so my views will be biased

i don't think the presence or absence of sim-nipples should be an issue. they are not vital to a sim being able to breastfeed, after all the absence of genitalia still enables them to woohoo and give birth

look forward to an awesome version  Grin
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge where are thou? on: 2006 April 06, 19:53:30
sad to see Inge not there. i have lots of her stuff and i think i have some or all of the school stuff as well...i just never had the time to set it all up yet. she was one of the first people i had mods for from TS1

i wish her well and hope to see her around on another forum in the summer (unsim related)
25  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Restocking tags showing in strange places on: 2006 April 05, 06:55:33
well, how weird is that? there was no problem with me re-using the house as a home business. it was a downloaded house though...one of nengis Factory Living series from MTS2

yeah i was somewhat unclear about the function of the trays, thanks

i don't get the impression theres any one item which causes the signs to wander off. i used the debugger and the sunflowers no longer do it but the gnomes still do

shezoe...LOL sorry but thats funny, vehicles in a heap at the back of your lot  Grin  i can't play huge lots so on a 2x2 there isn't much room left for a traffic pileup
