Stop all that infernal hugging
« on: 2006 December 11, 01:54:26 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Since I have been playing Pets I have found my sims are constantly hugging each other.  It's to the point of where they will all stand grouped together and take turns hugging each other incessantly.

Does anyone know of a hack that would help with this problem?   Huh  I have looked but have not found anything.

Have you installed hacks to remove all their other socials or something? You realize when you remove one annoying behavior, they'll substitute another, right?

That's why I don't understand why you tried to ban the bad poetry.

You are not a sim, Rohina.

They have done this from the get go, prior to installing any hacks.  The only behavior hacks I use are yours and TJ's.  If they are not hugging they are congratulating one another.  It's sickening.

Turn free will off, dammit!  Let the only socialising that takes place be under the direction of macros...  no more problems!

I still wish I'd gotten a screenshot of the time a teenage son congratulated his father on woohoo after his baby sister was born. I snorted pepsi through my nose at that point.

Not just no, but hell no.  I'm not into micro manging sims, especially when I have a full lot.  I'm not that much of a control freak, thanks.

It's so much funnier and glitchier with free will on. How else do you get sims with omelettes on their heads?

Macros eliminate the need to micromanage your sims...  you should at least try them before you dismiss them.

I have used them and it's boring.  You miss a lot of stuff going on by doing this.  Why play if you are just going set macros and then sit there with your arms crossed watching them do the macros?

While there may be a few annoyances the funny things they do out weighs the stupid stuff they do.

I'm with theisz on this one..
Is there any point in even playing if you have so many hacks and mods and macros, (whatever the hell they are) that everything is done for you?!
Free-will on and let them go for it.

Counter-argument: Is there a point to playing at all if you don't do anything anyway? I'm the one giving the orders here! That's the IMPORTANT thing.

Without free will you do miss the spontaneous hilarity.  Like this: in the middle of their shop one of my sims turned to his wife and congratulated her on the fact that he still found her attractive.  I wasn't quick enough to get a good picture, but that's what he's doing.

He's one of my favourite ever NPC move-ins, even though he had some bugs at first.  Normally I get sick of sims eventually, but even now he's most of the way through elder he's still finding new strange things to do and want.

Eh, if I want to see that, I just choose "Congratulate". I have it as a manual command. Tongue

Just because you use macros to take out the tedium of having to send a sim to the bathroom or whatever doesn't mean that you completely miss out on all that stuff.

The fun and hilarity still takes place on comm lots, and I quite often set sims on macros to go do something while I focus on one or two others.

I guess everyone plays their own way - I get very, very, very bored very quickly if I have to go through all of the clicking myself...  perhaps it's also the arthritis I have that tends to make my fingers and wrist ache with constant mouse use...  I'm much happier being able to send a sim to the bathroom without having to click on use toilet, flush toilet, wash hands, shower, etc...  Or to clean the house and then click on every single plate or piece of rubbish.  It's not about sitting back and never doing anything.  For me, macros are about having the boring, fiddly clicking dealt with so I can have my fun with the sims I want to focus on at that particular time.

I agree completely.  I always play with free will on, but I can't imagine playing without macrotastics, BUY, autoyak, autosoc, and the baby controller.  Why should I spend all that time micromanaging the routine stuff when I might miss something significant or hilarious that's going on in another part of the lot at the time?

I use Macrotastics, don't get me wrong.  I just don't use it all the time every time.  It varies how I play and I like having variety.   Besides, sometimes I load the game up, play for five minutes and then pause and walk away totally forgetting about it.  I get bored easily as well.  Tongue
