I couldn't tell if the original awesome.package file should remain in the same Packages folder WITH the aweconf.package file, or if I was supposed to replace it. But I tried it both ways, with both being present, and with just the aweconf.package file. Neither work.

Did you try it with the config in both locations at once? That's how mine is. I have two sets of everything.

Elders don't magically die when their lifespan bar fills up, that's only when they start to run the risk of dying. The nature of random numbers means that an elder can live indefinitely, as they are no more likely to die on any given day than they were the previous day.

On the extended lifespan I had a guy live 320 days (the bar runs out at 192 or so). I finally killed him myself. I sort of regret that now because I wonder how long he would have gone. He outlived everyone in his own generation and the next. I was appalled when he became a boyfriend to the great-great-granddaughter of one of his peers (that I had made at the same time I made him). He had achieved all of the athletic challenges, so that contributed.

Read the FAQ.

No, no, LVRugger, I think he already did. Because it sure looks like he made a Herculean effort to break EVERY FUCKING RULE in it.

That might be one of the causes of lesser-quality deathflowers, yes.
In addition, all those who claimed to have three revives for the death plant have misjudged your number of revives. As an experiment, I planted and harvested 120 separate death plants using life fruit fertiliser and constant watering using sprinkler, and NOT ONE of them produced more than 2 death flowers.
If you bother looking into game data, it is obvious the death plant produces a max of 2 flowers before going barren.

I thought we'd figured out that the more-than-2 revives was a bug.

I noticed that the AwesomeMod update includes a fix to romance advancement check. I was wondering what this actually did. I would assume that it checks things for romance advancement (being the bright person I am), however I was wondering what the checks are. I have noticed a lot of my married sims in the neighborhood keep going out for romantic interactions with sims other than their spouse. One was family oriented, but routinely was cheating on his wife, which was kinda funny.

I'm curious about this too, since from my understanding the latest AM slows down the development of romantic relationships, and at the moment I don't seem to have any npcs hooking up. I have no babies being born outside the fambly I'm playing and no parthenogenesis, despite having it turned on in my configuration. I have been assuming the latter was due to EA's patch turning it off. Anyway, I guess it doesn't really make a difference for me if AM does slow down romance now since it's nonexistent, but I guess what I need is the opposite... some kind of Sim love potion that affects the whole neighborhood. I'm trying to stick with one fambly and not switch houses but I find that impossible if I want there to be any babies at all.
I dislike installing mods and make AM the one exception, but I am considering trying out a mirror I read about in the dls section that allows you to manage births, I think it was. I'd be happier if there was an AM fix to this, though (hint hint).

One thing I haven't determined yet -- if bubble baths will alleviate the "sore muscle" or "aching back" moodlet you get from exercising or pregnancy.  I suspect it does.

In my experience baths do zilch for sore muscles and aching backs... which is a pity since many of my sims are too poor to go to the spa.
107  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Gardening and fertilizing on: 2009 August 01, 14:04:12
Pescado, you might want to inform my game about that then, because I've had one of my sims revive one twice and had the option to revive it a third time, but I just deleted it because he had already harvested quite enough death flowers for each member of the household. Not that they really needed it or anything though, since you really have to try to get an 'accidental' death, thus making death flowers overall pretty useless.

You might have an xml hack that modified the number of harvest for death plant, probably, or your game is bugged.

I can't speak for Aaroc but the only cc in my game (and I mean ONLY) is Awesomemod, and I had the chance to revive a 4th time (but didn't--same reason as Aaroc). I understand that the wise ones who know programming are saying that's not possible, so... probably it's a bug?  Undecided

What does this do? Is it like the Installer Monkey? I assume the monkey doesn't work on macs?

Erm. Define "this".
The tutorial? 7z? rar? Decompression tool?

"a free 7z, rar, etc. general (de)compression tool"
- the above sounded like it referred to one specific thing. I thought maybe it was an installer of some sort. However, as I don't know what 7z is, and have a tenuous grasp of the rest of the phrase, I thought I might be totally off-base.

Other question: does the link in the OP go to the most current version of Awesomemod? I only ask because there are now two links on the Awesomemod page (Mirror 1 and Mirror 2)--any reason I might need to dl one of these specifically?
109  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: How to install "awesome" mod on a mac (lots of images, yay!... slow loading...) on: 2009 July 19, 20:28:18
I just switched from PC to mac yesterday and this tutorial was invaluable--it only took 2 attempts to get it up and running.  Wink

Semi-related... can any mac people recommend a free 7z, rar, etc. general (de)compression tool?

What does this do? Is it like the Installer Monkey? I assume the monkey doesn't work on macs?
110  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Gardening and fertilizing on: 2009 July 08, 12:31:27
Back to topic: Crosspollination...yeah right!! I believe that "gardening badass" rather forgot, what he planted where.

Yeah... I think he's full of fertilizer.

So... I was wandering around Riverview and my sim was hungry, so I had her harvest what I thought was an apple tree on the McDermott farm. Strangely, when I checked her inventory, she also had limes. I hovered over the tree and it said it was a lime tree. But she did get apples from it.

I am going to try to duplicate this as I am starting to think maybe he's not so full of fertilizer after all... Huh
111  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: How to install "awesome" mod on a mac (lots of images, yay!... slow loading. on: 2009 July 08, 11:31:29
It should run fine if you don't pump the graphics up to max, keep them on low or medium and it'll be okay. My MBP with 4 gigs of ram can have a hard time and it has a better graphics card if I pump them all to max. Anyways if you don't already have a program called "SMC fan control" then I suggest getting it. It'll let you set your fan speeds in your computer, just pump them up to nearly max and it should help keep your computer cool. Small laptops tend to have issues with heating up while playing TS3 because its so graphics intensive.

I did notice it was getting very hot, so I appreciate this advice. Is the installation of SMC fan control easier than installing the mod (I hope)? Again, no risk to the computer, right? I wouldn't be so anal about it but as I mentioned, the mac's not mine.
Would you please direct me to any existing guide to installing it on a mac? Thank you so much for your help!
112  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: How to install "awesome" mod on a mac (lots of images, yay!... slow loading...) on: 2009 July 07, 22:07:27
Don't worry Mac's are built to be a bit different then a Windows computer, if anything fucks up you simply delete the Sims folder out of your applications and documents. At that point there is almost no trace of the program left, however you don't need to worry because as far as I've seen there are no real issues with it at all. If you want to post the system specs of his machine I can tell you more accurately if its up to par to run the game or not, the only thing you should really be worried about is if the graphics card won't be able to handle it but even then if it can't you just restart the computer and delete the game.

Thanks for your quick response!
The specs:
13.3" MacBook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, SuperDrive - Aluminum unibody (MB466LL/A)
I copied that off a site so I don't know if that last parenthetical is useful, but I figured I better include it in case.
113  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: How to install "awesome" mod on a mac (lots of images, yay!... slow loading...) on: 2009 July 07, 18:52:56
Before you get started you'll need to download these files,
The awesome mod itself: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/base/awesome.zip
and the framework for the mod: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/base/framework.zip
If you want to make life easy on yourself so you can copy me step by step then save them into a folder called "downloads"

Hi... for several wordy boring reasons I won't trouble you with I have used awesomemod and love it but never on a mac, and now I've got TS3 on my bf's macbook.  Anyway, my question is, is there any chance that installing awesomemod on this macbook could screw up the macbook outside of the game itself? I'm not very computer savvy and what I do know pertains to pcs, not macs. I don't mind messing up my own computer so much but it would REALLY suck to screw up my bf's.
I don't use supreme commander or any of the functions that Pescado warns are experimental.
I played for a while on the macbook yesterday, and it's so nice because it is such a better system (my pc's graphics card is not really up to par), but I MISS awesomemod.
114  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch released. on: 2009 June 29, 17:34:29
One other, kinda serious thing that went wrong when I had the latest Awesomemod w/o the patch was the game would freeze on the load screen when I tried to use the mirror [sim name] cheat, and I think the dresser cheat too.

Could you clarify, please? You're getting the Old Car CTD issue because your use the mirror/dresser cheats? How do you know they are connected? (I'm really interested as I have been getting those crashes and use those cheats more than any other--fugly townies give me hives.)
115  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: please post your voodoo on: 2009 June 28, 09:04:41
You are running from the launcher? There is your problem, right there.

Find this file in your C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3.exe. Right-click, send to desktop, create shortcut. Use that to launch game.

Or: Use the 3booter to launch.

Emma, I could hug you, while simultaneously kicking myself in the ass. Your advice *did* work, I'd forgotten to delete the cache files before trying to start the game bypassing the launcher.
116  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: please post your voodoo on: 2009 June 28, 08:25:42
Found the file, started the game bypassing the launcher, CTD at the usual point.  Cry

Shall I try enablescripterror.package, perhaps? or uninstalling Awesomemod and reinstalling it?
117  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: please post your voodoo on: 2009 June 28, 08:11:26
What's the latest on whether the enablescripterror.package is a good thing to install or not?
118  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: please post your voodoo on: 2009 June 28, 07:58:46
Which folder have you got awesomemod installed to? Do you have any other mods? I was having the crash problems when I had another mod loose in the same folder as Awesomemod (pre-patch, last version before patch)

Awesomemod is here: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
Other mod(s) are here: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\Hacks

No other mods... I'm paranoid about mods and hacks as a general rule.
I used the monkey to install it and its where you said. I checked the hacks file just-in-case, but it's empty.

Quote
No crashing once I moved the other mod.

User Presets just have stuff you make in such as patterns and outfits, I am quite sure, so deleting it will do nothing. It is in the same folder as the cache files I regularly purge, so where are your cache files that you are deleting?

Mine are in; C:\Users\ME\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

Yes, so are mine. Pescado said the same thing about the userPresets, but I figured voodoo is voodoo.

Quote

Thank you, I have not tried this... It says it's helpful in that it reboots immediately but doesn't solve the problem... grumble.
Thanks for the link, though, I'll probably try it... maybe it's just a matter of trying to launch over and over.
I wonder whether bypassing the launcher helps? I haven't tried. How do I do that?
119  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / please post your voodoo on: 2009 June 28, 07:13:09
Hi... I'm getting the stupid CTD on load every fucking time now. I'm deleting the cache files, which used to work, but doesn't anymore. I'd like to try some other things but don't know what. Please post your brand of voodoo here so I can try it.

Specifically, someone posted somewhere (can't find it now) that they deleted "userPresets" or some such file and that worked. Where is this file located? It's not in the same folder as the cache files.

But really, I'll try anything. I'll delete anything it's safe to delete. How about the worldPresets? That file is with the cache files.

FWIW, I have the last version of Awesomemod before the patch. (I don't understand how to dl the patch on a different computer and transfer it to my gaming pc, which is offline and will stay that way--I would be SOOO grateful for a detailed guide...)
120  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Gardening and fertilizing on: 2009 June 28, 05:57:36
One of my sims who is a green thumb and has the super green thumb, but it not level 10 (he's like, 7, I think), also seems to be able to revive death plants over and over. I haven't tried after the fourth time, though, since I have no use for all these death flowers. Everyone in the fambly has two at least. So I let the plant die and tossed it.
Direct contradiction to ingame XML. Ingame XML, as well as empirical testing, show clearly 2 harvests before barren, so there is NO possibility you could revive the same death plant four times.

Well, the plant kept coming back to life with the green light and everything. Why would I lie?
121  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 June 27, 07:43:42

Yes. What's your region version?
EN_US (00001)
Worldwide (00002)/Razor1911

Um, are these the patches? Is it okay for a peasant to dl these and run them, or am I going to cause my computer to melt down?

Edit:
I just read through the patch thread that chaos recommended I read, and my eyes have melted from my head. Argh. I want to understand all this. I used to build mods for the first Neverwinter so I swear I'm not totally stupid but man this is above my head. How do I learn this???
122  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch released. on: 2009 June 27, 07:41:38
I patched and have awesomemod installed.  I don't have any issues.

The only thing I saw that annoyed me was the babysitter had the baby in his hand then went to leave and jumped out and disappeared and my baby was on the ground outside.  I am glad he left the baby, but would be nice if he stuck it back in the crib.

Mine did this without the patch. Well... I was watching and saw the babysitter start to leave, so I clicked on the baby and chose an interaction... change diaper, I think. Then then the babysitter jumped out, disappeared, leaving the baby on the floor. So maybe my interacting did it, and the patch makes it happen automatically?
And is it just me, or are the babysitters worse than the nannies were in TS2? I had a house with a toddler and two infants and by the time the parents got home from a funeral they were all orange-mood and desperate to be fed. The babysitter, meanwhile, was standing on the porch. Ugh.
123  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 June 26, 23:41:24
Due to the fact that the mods/framework/whatnot system does not write in any file that the game uses, it is not necessary to uninstall anything to patch. However, you should upgrade your AwesomeMod to the latest version which incorporates the patch after patching.

Sorry to be dense... does this mean the newest version of Awesomemod includes the patch?
My game computer is not on the internet so I don't think I can dl the patch.

Also, I am getting CTDs when building... every so often I go to buy some item and bang, I'm staring at my wallpaper. I'm semi-clueless about this sort of thing... would the patch fix this?
124  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: types of gemstones? on: 2009 June 26, 23:30:54
Yeah, my gem-collector became a marathon runner as a result of his searches.
Currently having CTD issues (unrelated to gem-hunting) and taking a break from the game, though.  Angry
125  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: types of gemstones? on: 2009 June 26, 21:18:58
Thanks to all who answered.

There's a pink diamond and a rainbow gem.  I have most luck finding pink diamonds when my sims go dumpster diving, which is used in the law enforcement and journalism careers.

The rainbow one is different from the "luminorious" gem? Or is there yet another gem, because I've collected the luminorious one. Am I even spelling luminorious right? I guess if it's a made up word anyway, it shouldn't matter...
