1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Trailer trash/ Chav names on: 2008 February 05, 02:11:06
See now, I like McKenzie, I'd probably never name my child that, but I like it as a name. As for Madison, are they trying to ensure that their child will grow to be a stripper?
Or a mermaid.
2  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Bathroom Controller: In Soviet Russia, Bathroom Uses You! on: 2008 January 30, 02:48:29
Free will off- power idle. Macro>power idle, sims used the bathroom automatically. No crash.
Free will off- no power idle. I directed the sims to use the bathroom by directly clicking on the controller (for one sim) and macro>use bathroom on the other sim. No crash.
Free will on-power idle. Used bathroom automatically and also when directed by clicking on the controller. No crash.
Free will on-no power idle. Crashed immediately.

What Emma said.

Then I spawned a tombstone of L&D and it crashed after several seconds. (No actions except clicking on it and generating a pie menu.) No idea if THAT crash was related to BUY as I don't think I've spawned one since I installed NL.

You've convinced me I need OFB, though.

I'm afraid I'm having problems like the ones way earlier in this thread, like this reply.  I have Uni and NL installed only.  I tried multiple times, with the same way to reproduce the problem:

1. New lot (on empty neighborhood or Pleasantville)
2. Move in family (pre-built or build one)
3. Make one room
4. Put Toilet, Shower (combined with tub or not, doesn't matter)
5. Put door into room.
5a. Unpause here and waste a bit of time if you like, but you can skip this.
6. Put BUY into bathroom.
7. Unpause.

3-5 seconds later, I hear the ding! of a windows error, and alt-tab out to the dialog saying the program has crashed.  I have logs if you would like them.

I've gone so far as to uninstall and reinstall clean everything, but nothing seems to work. Sad  My sims should be used by the bathroom, darnit!

I'm having exactly the same problem, with Uni and NL only, the version I downloaded tonight from http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ffs/nl/hacks/ dated 2008-Jan-13 18:08:57.

I'm back to Simming after being without a capable computer for nearly a year. I may have forgotten some things, but I know BUY was working perfectly with Uni only last January. I have only Awesome hacks.
4  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2007 January 09, 17:51:36
Thanks, I'll just roll a virtual die -- and the number of times I click is going to be limited by my physical ability to do it.

But am I correct that there is only one version of the debugger? Do I have to break down and install Nightlife to take advantage of all the features? (I don't get the option to refresh thumbnails either.)
5  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2007 January 09, 02:23:29
Well, I thought I'd read everything in this thread pretty much as it was posted (for sure I'm not going to read all 12 pages now), but can anyone tell me if the December 7 edition works with Uni only? I can't seem to get "rerandomize Sim generator" to work.

Sim ElfPuddle just had an identical second child and Sim Jelenedra and Sim Pescado are about to deliver their second. I really need this to run correctly!
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Looking for sims on: 2007 January 05, 03:31:30
A little OT, but I thought I'd give someone a plug for doing some really good work.

I've mostly been hugely disappointed by the "celebrities and real people" sims at MTS2. The only one I've kept in my game is paperbackwriter's "John Locke": http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=187640

I've played with this one for a couple of months and it's amazing how much he looks like Terry O'Quinn. He throws pretty decent-looking kids, too.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Grief, woe, despair and hideous black screens on: 2006 November 24, 22:24:19
I am running on a laptop with an ATI card. It ran fine for almost a year, then started intermittently slowing down--badly. After a trip to a hot climate, during which I couldn't play at all, the slowdown was so bad, I realized it was a temperature problem. (Duh! It took over six months for me to figure out it was my graphics card causing the problem.) I actually DO deep-freeze it -- when I play TS2, I set it on top of a brick of "blue ice." It works -- no slowdowns while frozen.

I may eventually get a desktop that can handle TS2, but I like to play with my feet up.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Irritation with how retirement's handled... on: 2006 November 24, 22:14:07
I'm with Arkali. Maybe it's my many years of working in a civil service job, but a Sim with 10 or 15 vacation days EARNED them and deserves the pay for them. Not all of my families have tons of Simoleons by the time they turn elder. And if I recall correctly, somewhere (perhaps the Prima Guide?) I read that they would be paid for them. Doesn't happen, though.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Adopted kids losing grades on day of adoption on: 2006 November 23, 07:47:43
You can adopt on weekends (call Friday or Saturday) to avoid this. As for toddler to child age transitions, if you wait until after noon, you're generally OK. Although I only have University . . . it seems to me I read somewhere it changed with one of the later EPs. Pescado probably knows when it's safe.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do you kill pets? on: 2006 November 13, 01:46:27
If Terry Pratchett can have a Death of Rats, I want a Death of Dogs/Cats!

I believe Death of Rats takes care of most animals on Discworld. But I do think Pratchett's Grim Reaper is more interesting than EA's. He rides a pale horse named Binky!
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do YOU Pleasantview? on: 2006 November 08, 23:15:30
I've reloaded Pleasantview a few times, but I've been playing this version on and off for about a year. Yes, I am also a SLOW player. In a previous version, Don had alien twins thanks to TwoJeffs' telescope hack. That was hilarious!

I recreated my favorite family from TS1, Frankie and Sylvia Marie Mashuga. They live in a lavender octagonal house (much larger than the TS1 original) with their three children, Chelsea, Clinton and Hillary. Frankie's made it to the top of the Business career and is now working on becoming a criminal mastermind. Sylvia Marie is a police psychic.

Cassandra and Don never got married but Don did move in and they had a daughter named Belladonna. Mortimer married Dina and they had a son named Vlad. Dina and Don had an affair, which produced twins Lucrezia and Cesare. Cassandra caught Don and Dina in flagrante and kicked Don out. Dina moved out with the twins, leaving Mortimer with toddler Vlad. Cassandra married Darren and he moved into the Goth mansion. They have had two sons, Duane and Dartagnan. Mortimer rolled up a LTW to be Chief of Staff. Thanks to NoAgeDiscrimination, he's nearly there. Meanwhile, he has consumed several vats of elixir of life. He is still married to Dina and still in love with her. He's totally clueless about her relationship to Don.

Dina moved back in with Nina, and thanks to the Tombstone of L&D, became pregnant with the ghost of Michael Bachelor. This produced twins Tango and Mambo. Nina couldn't take it and moved out on her own, where she has had babies with Daniel Pleasant and Alexander Goth. Don moved in with Dina and has actually turned out to be a halfway decent father to the two sets of twins. He confines his extracurricular activities to other lots.

I let Mary-Sue catch Daniel with Kaylynn, so she kicked him out. Herb and Coral moved in and worked with Angela and Lilith so they at least weren't enemies. Both of the twins are at University. Mary-Sue met Don and got pregnant with a baby she named Adriana. She also adopted a baby named Jessie. Herb died in platinum and Coral almost immediately married the repairman Waylon Fairchild.

Daniel lives alone in one of the cheap houses near the Lothario and Caliente lots. He spends his time seducing any woman who walks by. So far he's had children with Kaylynn and Nina.

In this incarnation of Pleasantview, I resurrected Skip Broke and remarried him to Brandi. In addition to the baby Brandi was originally pregnant with (Bobby), they have had another child, Betsy. Dustin and Beau are at Sim State. Skip made it to the top of the Business career, then switched over to acting. Brandi has a torrid affair with Nina going on the side.

John and Jennifer Burb have had one additional child, Leopold. Totally boring couple.

Before he went off to University, Dirk Dreamer resurrected Darleen. Darleen came back with all her characteristics maxed (she's a pain in the butt) and married a townie named Randy Patch. They have a baby named Adam.

Kaylynn lives in the cabin by the water tower with her son by Daniel (Louis) and her daughter by Don (Laura).

At Sim State: Alexander Goth, Angela Pleasant, Lilith Pleasant, Dustin Broke, Beau Broke, Dirk Dreamer, Lucy Burb, Belladonna Goth,  Tango Caliente, Mambo Caliente, Vlad Goth, Lucrezia Lothario, Cesare Lothario. Thanks to Herb's death, Angela and Lilith are both quite rich.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No eating burnt food? on: 2006 November 03, 04:51:13
Yep, if they make lobster thermidor while I'm not looking, they get to eat it regardless of how it turns out.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Grrr to Maxis prudishness on: 2006 October 27, 18:35:39
It would be cool if male cats sprayed on the furniture unless they were neutered though. Wink

It would be cool IRL if neutering would make male cats STOP spraying on the furniture.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Less than a day, already a hack is desperately needed! on: 2006 October 22, 02:32:43
The first time my boyfriend spent the night, Phillip shat upon his pillow.  I thought I would die laughing.  Grin

And he's not your EX-boyfriend? The man's a saint. Keep him.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Less than a day, already a hack is desperately needed! on: 2006 October 18, 20:55:35
If visitors tried pestering my cat, their bodies would never be found.

If someone tried throwing my cat around, I don't think he'd kill them, but he WOULD remove their hand with surgical precision.

Many years ago, one of our cats left a LIVE mouse in my father's work boot. (We kids nearly busted our guts trying not to laugh.)

My daughter's cat left an eviscerated mouse on her windshield the other morning, which she had to clean up before driving to work.

I've "owned" cats for over 50 years, I have a million disgusting stories.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Starbucks with your Sims? on: 2006 September 01, 03:24:02
I think it would be funny if sims got junk mail in their mailboxes. Then someone could make a "no junk mail" hack. Cheesy

Hey, I want that for real life!
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wedding Party goes from *roof-raiser* to disaster in seconds... on: 2006 August 04, 02:18:30
I was marrying Ophelia and Johnny at Olive's house and they were scared by a ghost right as they said "I do". What I didn't realize was that the marriage was never finished, so it turned into a disaster at the last minute. Poor Johnny went into aspiration failure.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Twins have gender identity issues on: 2006 July 31, 07:01:36
Gay -- no problem. Lots of gay people in this particular neighborhood. It was the female heads and male bodies that I was having trouble dealing with. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I want to at least wait until they're teens before I change anything.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Twins have gender identity issues on: 2006 July 31, 06:30:36
I hadn't played this family for months, long before I downloaded and installed the Uni patch (Uni is the only EP I have). I had twin toddlers, children # 8 and 9 for this family (the oldest 5 are at college). They looked like the normal undifferentiated toddlers, and I had named them Alan and Mel, so I'm assuming they were "baby boys" when they were born. However, when they transitioned to children, they looked like girls. When I took them to the mirror for a makeover, they only had girl options. But their clothing options are male, except for the dresses they transitioned in.

I put them both in pirate outfits, including the hats, so you can't really tell what gender they are.

I looked at them in SimPE, and they have the "male" buttons chosen. I suppose it's possible I originally had girls and tried to change their gender in SimPE, but I have no idea why I would even want to do that. When I've wanted a particular gender baby in the past, the old quit without saving and reload has worked just fine. This neighborhood has my Legacy house in it, so I don't usually fiddle with it much.

I have most of the FFS mods and not much else. This particular family has some custom genes (which I copied from someone I can't remember now) causing the infants to have little t-shirts and booties. All the other children have been "normal."

So can anyone help me resolve this identity crisis? Thanks!

Coincidentally, I just read an article about Wieden+Kennedy in today's Oregonian:

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This is the pits on: 2005 December 09, 22:38:09
Yes, but does anyone know how they got into the basement? This happened to me very shortly after I got the base game -- it was a townie caught in a particularly deep foundation, and I didn't notice him until he starved to death and the Grim Reaper came. Walking through walls, dropping through floors?
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what's been fixed in NL on: 2005 September 16, 19:46:02
Piano - as designed

I could understand piano playing not being fun after a while but the piano itself?

Edit: sorry, finally got down to your answer in this L O N G thread!
