Title: Mac patch request : "Registrar -" Fix
Post by: Simsbaby on 2006 February 09, 04:38:58

This is happening on two computers, one with no custom content, and the other with over four gigs both have more awesome then me hacks, but this seems to be a mac issue. as you can see in the screenshots, when calling college or choosing on it on the computer registrar - shows up in front of the choice. Can someone put out a fix so that the text is right? Please and thank you! :)

Just out of curiosity, would it even be possible for these guys to make a fix for a Mac system  ???

They should be able to, I can use all of the fixes that are here.
I think that this could be fixed by making a hack that would override the text for these options.

Huh? I don't get it. Isn't that how it's supposed to be? I'm pretty sure that's what shows up in my game, and I'm on a PC.

I think he's talking about the fuzziness.

The fuzziness is Image Shack, not the game.

I personally don't see any error or anything in those pictures.  Also i still can't believe some people actually use macs.

I don't see the error. That appears in the PC version also, there's normally "Registrar - Change Major". This appears to be normal and is not a bug.

Yes, people do still use the better computers.

It does not look right, could you explain why it says Registrar? Seems like more sloppy coding.

Because the Registrar is the college department you tend to call for these things? Either way, it's not a Mac thing.

Registrar is a real word.

Yeah...better computers so that's what they call them these days eh?  I just wouldn't have thought so since next to nothing is ported to mac except games like the sims where the companies want to rip as much money out of people as possible.  Either way it's probably best not to get a mac vs pc debate going.  Unless anybody actually wants one?

Er... do keep in mind there are a great many people who use their computers for things other than playing video games, and that is why they have a Mac. (Gee, what a concept, doing something with a computer OTHER than playing video games or surfing teh intarwebs!)

I think in many cases people use Macs because others in theire chosen filed also use them.  At least, my niece told me she uses a Mac because in the photography and film business, most of her contacts use Macs.  I think they're used a lot less in the UK as they are VERY expensive.

But to return to the point, the Registrar is someone who registers things, whether births, deaths or marriages, house/land ownership, or college students grades, majors, etc.  However, the Registrar is a person, the office they work in is a Registrar's Office, and The actual department would be the Registry.

They are not as expensive as they were before, the Mac mini is only $500 us dollars, and that is a very nice computer compared to what you would get in a windows computer at that price.

Thanks for that, I did not know such a word existed.

Well, the price of Macs in the UK is not comparable to the price in the US!  In fact, everything in the UK costs about double or more what you pay over there, which is why a lot of people have their computers built individually or build them themselves, as that way it works out a lot cheaper.

It's just one of those stupid things about the UK which make me wonder why people still CHOOSE to live here!  (You can buy a car in Europe exactly the same as a car in the UK, even have it as Right-Hand Drive, and it will cost you little more than half the UK price, but if you try to get it back here chances are Customs and Excise will make it so it actually cost you more than the UK price if you add on the transport costs!  There are ways round it, but they're chancy, sometimes they work, sometimes not.  Same thing with buying stuff on the net from a US website. If you're lucky, it gets through and you pay far less than UK prices, but if Customs happen to investigate your parcel, you would get charged the tax on the UK list price, so it would end up cheaper to have got it from somewhere cut price in the UK.)

And we don't have decent weather either!

Well, I think the UK is great for a visit, but living here can get you down in the winter!
