Title: Eight bedroom monster - may be useful for challenges
Post by: witch on 2008 August 16, 04:12:18
Nekonai was looking for a large lot on one floor for her MATY challenge. This is one I had and thought might be suitable. I built it for a very large family.  :D

The lot has eight double bedrooms, four bathrooms and two toilets. It costs §237,378.

ETA: There's a pile of dirty dishes on the right front corner I wasn't allowed to delete, it needs the stuck object remover treatment.

View of the lounge area. Please note, there is one of R Giles' transparent tiles in view, remember to untick it in clean pack installer if you don't want it. Also note the outdoor/inner courtyard with hot pool.

Four car underground parking. Plenty of room for reward or skilling objects. If you want to keep the light filled garages, delete the bit of wall where the yellow cross is. You'll have to put a bit of wall there if you want to change the flooring up above.

What a clever design!  It would work nicely as a real house too :)

Ha! Like most of my houses it would probably work just as well as a dorm or as a hotel.  :D

Thanks Inge.

Wow, it looks great! I especially like the hot tub in the courtyard. Gotta snag this one. ;)

Well, I sent the first college student through correspondence school because I couldn't be assed to download lots for it. I'm building as little as possible for Coggeshall, since I build everything for the other two, which aren't abandoned. No. Really.  :-\

Zowee, Witch!  I was wondering how to deal with the difficulty of having 14 houses in play in Matysdoorp.  I can combine a bunch of families/households in here and have massive fights and lulz.  This may be the answer!  My game needs moar Witch in it anyway.  ;D

Hee. All games need MOAR witches.

Just a wee sidetrack here - does anyone else wonder why Microsoft and other software vendors only make Wizards and never Witches? Huh? Huh?

Because Microsoft are Anti-Witch, ever since they cursed Vista

Microsoft is offensive to Wiccans.

I love the house. You must teach me your Jedi Mind Tricks that allow for natural lighting in the underground. I can has bunker?

I'm not the Jedi here, it was Aggie's suggestion in the August House of Phail thread. As long as there's a channel to the outside, through the foundation, the cellar thinks it's outside. That's why you have to remove one bit of wall to get the light and put it back if you want to change the floor covers above.

Microsoft is offensive to Wiccans.

Indeed.  ;D

I've exploited that in Castle Awesomesauce to both create light where I wish there to be light and darkness where I wish there to be darkness.

Is there a downloadable Castle Awesomesauce? Or pictures at least?

We should have a good witch/bad witch castle competition, once the torrent's up.

No, because in its packaged state, it will CTD without full Awesomeware, including the Unreleasable Shinies.

That is a BEAST of a house. Love it. Really would make a great dorm.

It makes for a lovely boarding house style apartment building too. Kitchens in the common area don't work for serving meals, you either have to make many and use macro->eat or put a kitchenette in each bedroom. I also don't know if there's a way to refill the fridge if a playable sim uses make many to empty the fridge in the common area.

I haven't tried it with this lot (although that's an interesting idea, I've also been considering using witch's Lucy in the Sky lot as a trailer park), but I did build a retirement home with a communal kitchen.  If you "make many" in a shared kitchen you get charged at the fridge for the food you use, so you don't need to worry about restocking the fridge.  I use macro/eat and FEY, so it doesn't matter to me if I can't move the platter from the sim's inventory to the kitchen counter or table.

The landlord cleans the shared kitchen and the shared bathrooms as part of his cleaning duties.  Each unit in my retirement home has its own bathroom, but I also added some bathrooms in the community area.
