Title: Dizzy2's Hacks Checked with hackdiff
Post by: jfade on 2006 March 04, 04:43:20
Hi everyone. :) I saw someone say that they were curious about Dizzy2's hacks and whether or not they worked with OfB, so I ran them through Pescado's new hackdiff tool (which, might I say, is an awesome tool. :D ) and here's the results:

Hey, jfade, that's awesome.  Thanks for doing that.  :)

Thanks.  I am not surprised though.  I thought there might be a problem with the Sitter and the Smart Serve.  I am glad the homework hack is good.  But I hope he comes back and updates his hacks soon, or maybe someone else would be awesome enough to step in an update if he's AWOL.  I've been using his Breakfast at midnight hack for ages, since the base game.  It was quite possibly one of the first "hacks" I ever used, and I don't know what I'd do without it!  My sims are used to eating whatever they want anytime of the day.

Guess we'll just have to test the uncertain ones and keep our fingers crossed.  Thanks again jfade!

Breakfast at midnight does not require an update: All it does is always say "Yes", regardless of any other factors relating to time, so it doesn't matter that Maxis changed the time availability options, the answer is always supposed to be "Yes" and Dizzy basically gutted everything and made it always return true. Brute-force hacks like that tend to not care about whether they're dirty or not because they essentially stomp all the Maxis behaviors blindly.

That is good to hear.  So what about the other two, the Sitter and the Homework hack?

I took Smart Serve out to be on the safe side, but I miss it terribly.  I notice there are these new options for food, serving group meals, but I can't see any difference between them and normal serving.  With Dizzy's mod, I would have had 10 meals cooked in the house I played yesterday (as there were 10 hungry Sims), but choosing the new group meals option only got me the usual 6.

crammyboy got the game on Friday, and he was active on the site as recently as yesterday.  I haven't checked to see if he's been on today, but I think he'll probably do his own updates.

You may want to do a rescan in the new Really Working This Time  Edition.

Having been able to check back some old chat logs that cover Dizzy's last few chat visits to the Sims community when the other people asked why he hadn't been into chat lately he had said he was getting heavily into Ubuntu linux and would play Sims again when or if it ever worked with Wine.  I believe this comment shows an intention to leave the Sims community rather than the unexpected accident some of us had been speculating about.

Well, hopefully someone will pick up the ball with his hacks, because I'll really miss them when I install OFB.  At least most of my other favorite hacks seem to be up-to-date now.  I really liked his food mod and TJ took his down because it wasn't working like he wanted it to.  Maybe he and some others can fill in the gap.  I miss Dizzy.  He was fun to talk to.

I redid it and got the same results, except for these two:

free-bob.package: may require possible updates:
    P 0x7F4C04B9 0x0081 name unsupported
    p 0x7F4C04B9 0x0081 name unsupported
free-bob3g.package: may require possible updates:
    B 0x7F4C04B9 0x1000 Function - Main
    P 0x7F4C04B9 0x0081 name unsupported
    p 0x7F4C04B9 0x0081 name unsupported

Just the added "p 0x7F4C04B9 0x0081 name unsupported" line is the only difference. :)
