Best sadorandom townie name ever? Kacper London.

Seriously, Maxis, Kacper? I want to put him in a story just to make fun of it.

I have Kacper Bear in my game-he is a downtownie teen Cheesy

I don't know if it is still true but all of the townies and downtownies were named after maxis employees (I think they now sadorandom the first and last names)  so some poor schmuck at maxis has the forename Kacper (and I always pronounced the c as soft like an *s)

It doesn't hurt to install two tills outright, during the construction time of the business, since having a backup cash register never hurts

We have been looking for somewhere to host stories as we are having trouble with our current host.  This looks ideal  Grin

being from the UK where almost 100% of the population has blue eyes.

I dispute this - being from the UK too - I have green eyes and my daughter has brown eyes.  My sister has brown eyes, most of my neighbours have brown eyes  - it is blue eyes that are  in short supply around here!
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Requests and such on: 2006 July 12, 14:33:41
why don't you contact a designer directly whose creations you admire (possibly one who does similar stuff) and ask them if they would take a request?

I almost agree with JM (OMG! Did I say that out loud?)

The pix on the Thai site were for PS2, the E3 *screencaps* were clearly not and the Glamour Life pix were anything but.

Why they are stopping people from discussing future EPs I have no idea - what else do the sheep have to talk about now they believe their baa's of *wee wont ptz* have been heard (or is that herd? geddit?)

so have you solved the probs you had in the game?

I've only read the thread too and it reads as though Motoki made the fix for Uni as well as OFB - but it replaces the original file
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Proposal Mood Requirements? on: 2006 July 06, 00:12:27
I had a strange thing happened to my sims not long after the original game came out.  All the guests were waiting for the happy couple to take their wedding vows when a commotion at the other side of the lot caught my eye as the guests flocked to see what was happening.  One of the guests - a townie who had a crush on the groom - had collapsed and died (presumably with a broken heart) and grimmie was standing over her wearing a lei with the hula zombies by his side.
I remember it so clearly because it looked like grimmie was dressed for the occasion!

Like the one they had in *Friends* when they poked the ugly naked guy 'cos they thought he was dead?  That was a lot of small sticks (looked like chopsticks) joined together

You can d/l it from the official site now - horror of horrors

well i bought ffs a few days ago (why?! agh) and thought everything was going to be all great because i could have a jellyfish lamp. well it wasnt. why? because all my walls were blinking red and black (it looked really cool actually but when i uninstalled i lost the video of it Undecided) and most of my objects were pitch black. since ive uninstalled it, now my lots from n. view are blue with a blinking red outline (once in the lot its fine). anyone know what could have caused this mass blinking problem, is there a way i can have my dreams of jellyfish lamps again?

translation:

I bought a copy of the Family Fun Pack because the jellyfish lamp looked like an object I would like in my game.
After installation the walls flashed red and black so I uninstalled it and the lots in the neighbourhood view are now blue with a red outline.
Does anyone know what could have caused this potential BFBVFS and is there any way I can reinstall the FFP without losing my game?

jafhsdf
Did you completely uninstall the Sims2 because if you just uninstall FFP (which behaves like an expansion pack) it removes some items from the game.
Did you make a back up of your game before installing FFP? If not then you will lose everything and have to install it from scratch.

ETA - Jorenne's translation is probably more accurate lol

Only 3gb cwieberdink?  Try cough5gbcough (not that I'm a serious download whore or owt)

Sims2Pack Clean Installer is a great help in sorting your cc.  It doesn't always show the GUID (the long number) but names the item and usually has a picture of the mesh or recolour so you can tell what it is.
45  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CD HOT - screen frozen on: 2006 June 27, 15:11:27
No.  The program files are on the C:\ drive.

While I was waiting for you to thunk, I had another go at running the sims 2 and in my impatience, I didn't replace the side cover of the CPU, and the game loaded perfectly.  I did testingcheatsenabled and got no error screen, so fook knows what it was.

Perhaps it was your magic touch, lol.

Can you diagnose my cat from a distance too?  There is a woman on tv here who will communicate with your pet telepathically, if you send her a photo.
46  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CD HOT - screen frozen on: 2006 June 27, 10:16:41
I tried SC4 and that worked ok - I might try reloading the sims to see if that works - and my daughter has Evolution GT installed which has no probs (most of her games are on her laptop)
47  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CD HOT - screen frozen on: 2006 June 27, 09:42:35
Wattage of the computer's power supply unit - 350w total output

When I had the extra hdd installed I made a program files folder on the F:\ drive but windoze created another folder on the C:\ drive for D&S.  I wanted the download files on the F:\ drive because it had a larger capacity and ended up with duplicate folders.  In my searches (and discussions with BlueSoup) I thought that the duplicated folders could be the problem so I uninstalled Sims2 completely and reinstalled on the C:\ drive so Windoze could create the D&S folders on the F:\ drive.

I started the game having moved all cc to the desktop and managed to get past the neighbourhood selection screen.  I chose PV because the other hoods aren't complete but as soon as the pop-up asking about linking uni/downtown/shopping districts appeared the screen froze, the mouse and keyboard were disabled so I had to turn off the power supply to exit.
With cc enabled I was only able to get as far as the neighbourhood selection screen.
I have tried each maxis hood and even tried the custom hood but it doesn't get past the selection screen or very soon after loading the neighbourhood.
The same thing happens in Bodyshop - and we really want to see the cc we downloaded last week!

There is a buffet table at Paladin's Place http://www.simwardrobe.com/ that you can charge sims per plate
50  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / CD HOT - screen frozen on: 2006 June 26, 21:27:22
I think a few of you know that I have had probs loading the game since having a new hard drive.
I've tried every which way and it won't get past the neighbourhood screen.
I removed all cc (literally the other night after one too many smirnoff ice and a very tired and swollen finger which pressed *Y* instead of *N* - feel free to point and laugh at this point as I accidentally overwrote the saved games and lost the backup - don't ask how Roll Eyes)
We had spent 3 days solid downloading 000's of lovely items and *poof* all gone - well I know they were retrievable and I managed to get them all back but that isn't the problem.  (I know I'm rambling but after the week I've had and today just topped it but that's another story Cry )
I have looked at previous similar threads but none of the solutions work

OK - I have a AMD Duron processor 1.3ghz and 512mb RAM

ATI Radeon 9600 and updated drivers version 6.14
C:\30GB  Windows XP Pro installed and all programme files
                   F:\160GB My Documents only
All EP's and packs are installed and I have patched OFB and FFP.

I have tested display and sound with dxdiag and everything is ok
I have run the hack conflict and it reported 7 possibles - rpshack.package and comm-skilling.package so I don't think it is there.

I am worried that the CD gets very hot quickly - I thought at first it was the fan not working but I had it tested and the temp was within the normal range.

I tested running the game in both CD drives and the same thing happens.  SC4 is ok in either though Bodyshop freezes too

I think that is all so if anyone has any other ideas what it could be....

I miss my simmies  *sobs*
