51  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Error on hungry kitten - hack conflict? on: 2006 October 23, 20:12:10
have you tried taking the insimenator out?

Yes, I started from it, since it's said it won't work properly. Smiley But with most of the hacks out and Insimenator in, everything works fine. I also ruled out most of Squinge hacks, now I'm adding other non-awesome ones one by one. Well, now I have only 100 files to go.  Tongue

Something is messing my game and I'm trying to track it down. Maybe someone who understands error logs better than me could give me a clue?

The error occurs with a hungry kitten, somewhere around a first "Hungry!" thought bubble should appear. I'm not able to reset it, I can only delete it. It looks like a hack conflict, since when all hacks are removed, I'm not able to reproduce it. But I'm not 100 percent sure, because the lot resets while lacking some hacks and I have to lower the hunger bar manually.

I've ruled out most of the non-awesome hacks and I'm still working on it, but maybe someone can make sth out of the error log. I can provide list of my hacks if necessary. I'm already tired of constantly reloading the game, help!

(I guess the error log is no longer necessary.)

Thanks, Syberspunk, that's the reassuring I needed.  Grin
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Toddlers' throw up fear on: 2006 October 22, 12:46:36
It buggered me from the start, but I've just seen little Kiara puking after eating from a dog bowl and I have enough.

My toddlers often roll a fear of throwing up, but it never gets fulfilled! What's a point of preventing them to drink from spoiled bottles if there's no penalty? Did someone noticed that or is it only my game? It's not a hack conflict, 'cause the same is happening (or rather not happening) with all mods removed. It was in base game and every EP installed.

Could someone do a fix to that? Pleeaaase...

I don't have OFB so I use BaseGame-to-NL Insim version and it seems to work fine - no problems by far. Maybe I didn't notice anything yet.  Tongue
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Pets without OFB hacks question on: 2006 October 22, 11:04:06
I've just installed Pets (I was going to wait for the Inteen update, but the addiction is helpless, I guess Smiley), but I don't have OFB and I'm not going to buy it. Now I update hacks that need to be updated. So far, everything seems to work correctly, but I'm a bit afraid that some of them will have OFB-specific code and will screw up. Is there a danger like that, or EP4 supplies all necessary code even if EP3 is missing?

BTW, Twojeffs gave a clear list of his hacks to update, but I'm not sure about J.M.Pescado mods. I just went into pets/hacks/ directory and updated everything that had October time stamp. Is it all right?
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird Social Worker Apperance (sshack installed) on: 2006 May 01, 12:29:43
Well, E was not a typo, it was just my bad guess... In my language version of the game there are numbers, not letters, for grades. I was trying to translate it and failed. Well, let's try again: the highest grade is 6+, so it equals to A+, the default grade before first day in school is 4, which I believe is C, and Martha had 2, so it must be F. I'm very sorry, it's just my poor knowledge about foreign grades system...  Smiley

Syberspunk, your hardergrades works just fine, I love it because I was tired of constant A+ (6+ Smiley) for everyone. It's invisible to me (other hacks change some things in my game to English, this one doesn't), and I really doubt there are any bugs. What puzzled me was that Social Worker appeared while she should not, and that she didn't do anything. And this has to do rather with sshack, so I thought maybe J.M.Pescado would be interested. It's not a complaint, it was terribly funny, and it's my fault of being regardless to possible conflict hacks. And, after all, a tiny suggestion: maybe she really could come only to scold? Warning messages are far less impressive.  Smiley

I think I'll always be only a lurker here, but a weird thing happened yesterday in one of the families in my testing neighbourhood and I thought I'd share it with you...

My testing family - Evan (dad), Valerie (mum) ald two children, Trevor and Martha, all CAS-made - were played for a game week. I didn't manage to make parents help Martha with homework until Friday, so her grade (with a little help from hardergrades hack  Smiley) fell to F. On Friday she has finished all her piled-up homework and had all weekend to gain her logic skill, her brother had C and I had sshack installed, so constant warning messages didn't bother me.

On Sunday afternoon Valerie took kids to community lot. Taxi arrived and three of them got into it, when suddenly a blue car arrived and lady in black emerged from it. I thought "Why?? Doesn't sshack prevent children from Social Worker abduction, if only one child has a bad grade?"

She went straight into the garden, apparently intending to scold Dad, but Evan was too busy with his telescope to even notice her. Social Worker waited a bit and resigned. Meanwhile Valerie and children got out of the taxi, which went away. I was sure that Social Worker will scold Valerie, but she went straight to her car and drove off... Martha and Trevor were spared. Valerie called another taxi and three of them went downtown as if nothing had happened.

I suspect it's a hack conflict somewhere, since I have loads of hack from different sources installed and never even made a proper list of them. Or maybe it's a feature unknown to me? I like the idea of SW giving parents only a warning.  Wink I regret I was too petrified at that time to take screenshots.

"This hack makes the Social Worker behave more reasonably." Yeah, sure.

[Corrected this E to F. Reasons in my post below.]
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Tombstones spawning - anyone seen this glitch? on: 2006 March 11, 22:31:36
Hello, here's another lurker revealing herself...

Alice Ratmill is the only deceased Sim in my neighbourhood (I'm a VERY slow player). She was a CAS Elder, made in order to raise Chandler Platz and Marsha Bruenig, whom I wanted to grow up. She married Victor Ratmill, and recently moved with him, Marsha and Marsha's husband to a new lot, where she died from old age. Her tombstone stayed on the lot because the widower desperately wants to see a ghost. Smiley

At that time I had original game + Holiday Pack. I didn't play this family a lot after Alice's death, and then I installed NL. When I entered the lot to check them and tweak their Turn Ons and Turn Offs, I saw two additional tombstones on the sidewalk near the mailbox, and two puddles - one chocolate and one urine (I'm using the Yellowpee hack from MTS, maybe I should switch to FFS one?...) The proper Alice's tombstone was where I'd put it, and all three of them showed Alice as owner. As far as I remember I didn't do anything with it, just saved this lot deciding to deal with it later.

Since then I didn't play the whole neighbourhood - because it was terribly slow - until this week, when I upgraded the PC and installed Uni almost at the same time. I played several families and everything was just fine, until I entered the Ratmill lot.

The tombstones and the puddles were still on the sidewalk, but there was no "proper" tombstone where I'd put it. I took one of the strangely spawned tombstones and placed it on the grave (the ground slightly raised and soil coloured to look as a fresh grave  Cool), and moved the other one into the house as an urn, just in case. Marsha The Neatfreak quickly mopped the puddles.

I played them a bit, then quit and entered another lot. And I saw two tombstones and two puddles... Tombstones were marked with "Here lies Alice Ratmill". I deleted them along with the puddles (needed moveobjects on here). Another lot - the same problem. I kept deleting them on every lot I entered. I got really pissed off, when Jan Tellerman (Chandler's ex-wife btw), went on a date to a restaurant (built in base neighbourhood) and found two tombstones near the phone. No way to delete them in live mode on community lot. Jan gathered them into her inventory and a helpful waiter came and mopped the puddles. Jan returned home and sold the tombstones from her inventory along with... yeah, you guessed it, along with another ones freshly spawned near her mailbox. Oh, and the puddles.

It was really annoying, and worse, it was cheating - each tombstone gives free 150$...

I quit the game, rebooted the PC and started game again. I went to Jan's lot - luckily no tombstones this time. No tombstones on every other lot. But I didn't have a nerve to go to Ratmill lot. I'll test it tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure that the tombstones would start spawning again...

Have anyone encountered a glitch like this? Does that mean that Alice's file is corrupted and Victor will never see her ghost? And why the puddles? Why chocolate and urine? (well, I recall that someone wrote the chocolate puddles look like... erm... something else  Wink)

Well, in fact the whole neighbourhood has to be glitchy after all my experiments: many Sims deleted (I didn't know at that time it was a bad thing), townies giving birth, etc. I have also tons of hacks and other downloads. I guess it's happily running towards BFBVFS, but I didn't encountered any serious glitches yet. And I'm going to play it until it explodes - and then I'll load the backup and play it again.  Smiley

[Forgive me any grammar mistakes and feel free to correct me if you like - I guess my English really needs refreshing...]
