76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who's getting the x-mas pack? on: 2005 November 18, 18:53:29
I don't believe the cornucopia is exclusive; it has been offered on the main site as a free download from Maxis since last fall. Undecided
Are those legal, then? I seem to remember a big fuss about them being posted on some fansite a few months back. You know, the awful giant cat and the hideous ghosts-in-the-cauldon rubbish?

I'm actually almost sorry I've got the holiday pack because now I've got to look at them - I wish there was a way you could go through the friggin' game and BIN whatever you like, even if it IS made by maxis. I think I'm gonna overwrite their GUIDs with better stuff.

Hooray for SimPE!  Cheesy
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who's getting the x-mas pack? on: 2005 November 18, 18:46:00
I just downloaded a house off TSR that had the cornocopia prominently displayed on the dining room table.

Very nice and all, but isn't it exclusive content? Tsk, tsk. How are you supposed to remember every crappy object Maxis have released as a freebie (or, er, not-so-freebie-after-all) so you know not to include it in lots? Jesus.

Edit: Cross-posted with Myrddin - does this mean they've done the l337 wrangling skillz to break these things if you're being naughty after all? How clever!

I'm sure not all of us bought it.

Wink
79  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change townie's clothes in nightlife? on: 2005 November 18, 16:00:55
Sorry giuys, forgot to check this thread.

The Outfit and appearance changer is part of his woohoo npc pack - but you can bin the NPCs themselves if you don't want them. The filename is obj_COA or something like that.

He doesn't show up in your relationships panel at all - he's like the social bunny, except everybody can see him at the same time, and he's got less social interactions. I think you can chat to him and hug him and that's it. There's a third pie menu option, but I forget what it is.

The first time Skinny Santa interacted with each member in my test household, they suddenly became Best Friends. Nothing in the relationship panel, just the spinning bauble atop their heads. I just checked in SimPe for invisible memories, and it turns out there are some not-so-invisible ones - "Met Unknown","Made Best Friends with Unknown", "Had Two Best Friends", an invisible for the other person in house doing the same. I don't know if it's Unknown because SimPe doesn't recognize it or Unknown because Santa is inherently glitchy, but it's making me a little antsy.

You're right - I saw the best friends spinny bauble as well - I didn't think anything of it since I had two sims talking to each other right behind santa and his interactor, so I assumed it was from the other two. That *is* a bit worrying.

I can't help wondering if he can be bitten by a vampire, or what happens if you set fire to him. Amusing as it would undoubtedly be, I'm not sure I want to find out.

Seems cheap enough to purchase for a laugh. Hell, I'd love to do twisted things to Santa Claus like, make him furious with members of the household.  Grin

I don't think you can. It doesn't seem like you can interact with him much. You can neglect to leave him any cookies and he'll give you coal though. Tongue

Well, I got it.

Santa sat down to eat a cookie, put it down abruptly, sort of did a slide-jump thing out of his seat to go "ho-ho-ho", then did a slide-jump thing back into a sitting position. Repeat process ad nauseum. Just eat the goddamn cookie, beardy. No, don't go and get another one!  Angry Eat the one you've got!

I only played it for about five minutes and found a bug already for god's sake.
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It's begun... on: 2005 November 16, 10:39:58
I doubt the Santa will be doing all those things shown in the clip, actaully, I very much doubt there will be a Santa npc. I mean hwo would that work? You'd have to call Santa to your house? Rather I think that a sim could dress up as Santa or something.

Me loves the fireworks tho... Grin

There was a santa in TS1, though - you'd light a fire, stick a tree next to it, leave some cookies on a table nearby and go to bed - santa would come in the night and leave random stuff.
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Those Magic (Pause) Moments on: 2005 November 15, 08:33:02
What the hell dad?

Pfft. I had an adult holding her toddler while it transitioned into a child. Some strange broken arm action going on here, then one of those creepy "grown-up-holding-seven-year-old-like-a-three-year-old" things, then she dumped the kid on the floor where it sat like a toddler.

No lasting effects, luckily.

Danny's Change Outfit and Appearance tool has been updated for nightlife, lets you change their turn ons/offs as well. His site is DMA sims, I think the url is valdea.com - his own npcs have turned into a right muckabout to get changed, though. You used to be able to do them with Merola's mirror, but not anymore.
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Those Magic (Pause) Moments on: 2005 November 13, 17:48:47
Oh that's smart milk is it?  I've never used all those things so I hadn't seen it before!

Wtf, inge!  Cheesy

87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Lots with ghosts - BFBVFS? on: 2005 November 11, 18:52:48
I've noticed a few houses being uploaded to various sites that contain ready-made ghosts. I'm wondering if this would cause problems, particularly with Nightlife's moveable graves thing. I mean, ghosts have their character files, right? Otherwise they wouldn't be able to be resurrected. Isn't downloading a lot with a family of ghosts just like downloading a lot with a family of alives?

Apols if already covered here.

High poly, but they're pretty.

I love you.

Vector, I did the code for those mobiles to add the body points and stuff  Smiley  Ren did the mesh though.

Hah! One of yours, is it? That'll be why I like it, then.

vector,

90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I have Simpotence on: 2005 November 10, 16:57:30
It's the same with every game you play a lot, I suppose. I've usually got about three on the go, so I switch around as the mood takes me.

Playing TS2 has always been very samey for me, mainly because I just play to waste time. I'm not usually interested in making exciting stories, just want to load the thing up, make a couple of houses, have them drop some sprogs and get rich.

I recently started to build some starter homes, moving families into them to depreciate the lot value and then killing them off, and that's where things started to get interesting. Because I don't CARE about these sims, I can molest and torment them to my black little heart's content. I didn't know until now, for instance, that if a sim really hates somebody who then dies, if you try and tell them to "mourn" said sim, they'll actually roar with laughter instead (see picture of Jan Tellerman "mourning" ex-husband Remington).

I don't know that retchead woman but why is she jeoulous of JM?   She don't make any mods, does she?   I have never downloaded anything by her.   Roll Eyes

I use her crib mobiles to build body skill for toddlers and babies. One of my favourite mods, actually.

She's still as mad as a sack of ferrets, though.
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Game generating crap NPCs, avoidable problem or precursor to a firey etc... on: 2005 November 09, 17:55:08
Does this fix do anything about those "call in sick" npcs that seem to be generated every goddamn time I have a sim call in sick to work?

I had one call in sick just as the carpool turned up, game lags away while it churns out another useless npc to take the call. I got over-excited about something and pressed the cancel button when prompted "do you want to phone in sick". Duh. Sim spins to change into work clothes, goes to run out to the carpool. No! Cancel action, return to phone, phone in sick, dammit. Chug-chug-chug. Game generates another npc to deal with the second call. Gah!
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: If EA releases another party pack what would it have to have for you to buy on: 2005 October 26, 09:04:59
Open SimPE, go to Tools, then Scan Folders.

*snip*

Motoki, you totally rock.
94  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hey, you just got here? on: 2005 October 25, 22:25:34
I only recently discovered that a sim can float on his back in the pool. Stumbled upon it while looking in simpe. How do you do that?

Click on a sim while they're swimming about. Wink
95  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hey, you just got here? on: 2005 October 25, 21:16:56
I've had this happen at 22:00 when a teen brought another teen home from work. Told controllable sim to go pee, and friend-from-work freaks out right away and goes home. But you knew what the time was, why did you agree to come home with the damn sim in the first place? Wtf?
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dorm Question on: 2005 October 25, 21:12:09
If I don't use any Myne doors, I always get the "egads! There's not enough room for everybody in this dorm!" message. But making a Super Sekrit area of the dorm that nasty dormies can't get into using Inge's lockable doors is a grand idea, and one I shall be utilizing asap.
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims' Haunted Mansion--er, at least the bedroom on: 2005 October 25, 21:05:21
On a semi-related note, how long are vampires supposed to last in the sun? I moved in Calista the gardener and used the sim modder to make her a vamp. She didn't have a house or anything to hide in, so crept about doing the "agh it burns! it burns!" thing for a long time. Her needs tanked, as they should, but she didn't actually DIE like I wanted her to. Her hunger motive just hung with enough fill to stop her dropping dead. Bug? Strange artifact? Luck? (Not all that lucky, since she died by flies for her stubbornness, but still)
98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More turn ons/offs on: 2005 October 24, 17:24:47
Come Christmas, people are going to start making Santa skins, and unless there's a decent custom mesh involved, he's going to be a skinny-but-pregnant Santa.

And it's going to be stupid.
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: http://Link Blocked By Linked Site/ on: 2005 October 24, 11:53:20
I don't think she edited any individual posts, I think she did something so that the entire site blocks any mention of the domain name here retroactively on all messages both public and private.

S' easy. I'm running the same forum software as Rennie is, and I banned the words "the" and "and" using the censor settings a few weeks ago. It affects every instance of your censored word, past and present, both on the main forum and via PM. You can even substitute your chosen censored word with another, more suitable word of your choice, perhaps like, ooh I dunno... maybe substitute "http://link blocked by linked site/" for every instance of "http://moreawesomethanyou.com/".

Additionally, it's perfectly possible to not add the "edited by" line. There's a checkbox to tick when you edit a post. I mean, duh.

I have to say, I didn't really mind Rennie in times past. I remember the squabble over that avatar of two sims making out or some such nonsense, and I agreed with Rennie at the time that it's up to the admins what's acceptable for posting on their website and what isn't. It all seemed very reasonable at the time. Now, though, it's just become bizarre beyond words. Really goddamn weird.
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: lacking elder downtownies... on: 2005 October 21, 15:24:20
Weird - I don't have any elders downtown either. Just assumed it was like the base game, where you'd only really get adults.

 Huh
