101  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: John Mole: Seriously Borked? on: 2008 March 29, 23:49:41
John got a red memory when he got engaged in my game, so before he married I turned off his secondary aspiration (reset it with the aspiration reward) and he married just fine with a nice green memory. Then I reset his secondary (knowledge) again and he seems fine. Rolls wants for both aspirations, uses the aspiration rewards without a problem, gets 'great week' popups. Probably he'll age up badly or something. I don't have TwoJeffs fix in yet - still playing a test hood.

The only problem I see with this is that, if you take antiredundancy out, you start spawning tour guides again (unless you installed the patch, presumeably).  I know I have a charlatan in my game who has shown up once even with antiredundancy loaded.

As long as you don't visit the vacation areas after removing the hack (i.e., wait for the charletan on a regular community lot), you won't get any more tour guides. Even if you did wait for him on a vacation community lot, you'd only have one unless you went to more than one lot.

I dunno what the deal is with anti-redundancy and the pickpocket - not being awesome and such... only know if you aren't getting them and take it out, one wil show up. Perhaps one needed to spawn before you put the hack in the game or maybe the game needs one for each vacation area and one for community lots (as the vacation ones are actual part of the 'local' group with the proper clothes and all) or something. Not sure.

But taking it out long enough to get one and putting it back in doesn't look like it'll blow up a game. Just make sure to put the hack back in.

What does the pickpocket look like? I've played all the lots for two rl days and have yet to see him.
He looks like Snidely Whiplash. Take anti-redundancy out, wait until you see him, put it back in again.

There doesn't appear to be any reward for getting all the vacation memories. I guess it's just something to do.
104  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Memory leak? on: 2007 September 20, 16:55:05
Not allowing the game to connect to the net, putting in anti-redundancy, and putting in a 'no water balloons' hack (essential for me, that was causing all kinds of problems) - that fixed most lag problems for me. I can play for long periods without issues, but haven't been playing that many vacations that long - so if there's still a memory leak, it'd have to be vacation lot specific I think. Is that even possible?

I still haven't figured out my issue with the witch dr's hut (which was totally unplayable) but I haven't been back there so dunno if the above helped.

Oh and  I also have to remember to generate all at once or not allow strays and stupid pet furs/collars to generate or I lag out while the game tries to make them. Worse'n the change appearance wait...
105  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing Pet Names on: 2007 July 27, 02:51:57
There's an option to change a pet's name when you take him/her to the mirror.
106  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Microclimates in Uni? on: 2007 July 18, 21:53:48
I really enjoy your Riverhaven. You do a great job with telling it and switching main characters too. This way seems like even more fun. Sometimes I just like to play one family and keep playing them too. When I'm switching off, about the time I get interested again, it's time to change.

Hungry dogs not specifically trained on pet food will either knock over the trash can and eat the garbage, or will eat the flowers. It doesn't harm the flowers as far as I can tell, and it satisfies hunger.

I was rather surprised recently to see one of my dogs cue up an "ask owner to fill the pet food dish" action. I'd not seen that before.
108  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Will real parties ever be possible? on: 2007 July 16, 22:29:53
So far as I know, none of the drinks (juice or champagne) that came with the game do anything except what's obvious - decrease bladder, increase fun or whatever.

I have some hacks that allow me to serve beer, wine, wine coolers and the like, instead but I don't think any of them really do anything either - just change the mesh to something besides juice. Sorry but if I'm gonna have an alkie in the game (and some of my sims are just that way), I want it not to be on the same thing their kids drink.

There is this beer keg that has drunk actions and animations, if you aren't already aware of it:

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=200435

That's the only one I know about though, and it's only good for some places.

<chant>must resist. no new downloads. must resist. no more downloads. </chant>

ha! ya'll aren't getting me!

isn't that just an adorable maternity outfit. and you have that hack. you need clothes that work, right? and look at that really cute pants suit. and wouldn't the modest clothes be perfect for contrast with the 'post-modern' stuff - who says clothes will move toward 3/4s nekkie in the future?

wellll... maybe just one or two. or a few. or so.

(I love Besen's clothes.)

I would love grape vines. I missed Makin' Magic for the sims1 so I really hope they do it for sims2. I voted for it on that poll awhile back... but seemed about even, people who like it and don't. I love the really odd stuff that's harder to simulate in hacks/cc.
111  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Corrupted Skin File on: 2007 July 16, 16:32:20
Not the  patch - assuming my issue is the same as other peoples. I haven't patched.

Ah the Matrix is so bad. Hopefully it's a Harry Potter bad wizard or a Borne Conspiracy thing or something.
112  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Corrupted Skin File on: 2007 July 16, 10:37:34
It is interesting. I've never had it happen before. But then, my computer is acting up and I was getting a lot of crashes anyway. I took out all my cc, played for a long while without saving, crashed to the desktop, and when I opened the house I was playing, the sim's skin was corrupt.

What I thought was odd (and probably isn't - I've never had it happen before and don't know), I expected the corrupt file to have a different date and time stamp than the one on disk, or a different size, or different something as it'd been written to. But it didn't - it was exactly the same as the one on the disk, but still corrupt. That's why I thought I was trying to change the wrong one or something.
113  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Modest/Religious clothing for female sims? on: 2007 July 16, 10:24:52
Those dark project clothes are beautiful in game. I have some of them in my game and it's really nice to do a close-up and see that much detail in the clothing textures.
114  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Corrupted Skin File on: 2007 July 15, 20:26:37
My game crashed and now I've got a corrupted skin file (instead of looking right, it has the little numbers all over). It's the s2 skin for adult males, if that matters. I think I can replace it from the disk, but I'm not sure what I need to replace, what disk it should be on, and where I need to put it. I'd rather replace it than reinstall, so would very much appreciate the info Smiley

</help> nevermind, figured it out.

116  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims Keep Stealing my Dog's Food! on: 2007 July 11, 22:04:59
Feed them treats. Keeps their hunger up enough they won't get taken away or refuse to learn while you're training them. And doesn't mess with the training.
117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: taking toddlers to community lots? on: 2007 July 11, 14:01:25
All of the things I mentioned exist. Echo made the toddler pools ages ago and I have several from others since then. Echo also did sand pits, there are also some on TSR and some on the sims mod board. The sand buckets are at TSR.

You can use 'em in the house. I think Echo's stuff isn't normally set for community use, but that doesn't stop anyone from putting them on community lots if'n they wanna. Either use a one of the buy hacks or start with the zoning residential and switch it - either will allow you to put anything on a community lot, including cribs if you wanna. And teleporting in whatever sim you want to be there is easy.
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: taking toddlers to community lots? on: 2007 July 11, 11:05:53
<blink> Baby pools at the swimming pool, sandlots in parks, sand pails at the beach are fun. As is the sim that runs a daycare because she lost her own child in a fire and went kind of crazy. It doesn't matter if there's no 'game' advantage from it. The sims don't know the difference between a shack and a house or an expensive spa on community lot and one with just a hot tub on it either, but I do so that's what makes it fun to do.

Once upon a time there was a hack that would teleport in toddlers at whatever specific time you set it at, but I didn't use it and don't know where it is, so that's not much help...
119  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: MATY HOOD CONTEST on: 2007 July 08, 14:55:10
I don't see any reason why time would have to be consecutive. I also wouldn't bother deciding what kind of things could be built - anything goes. The point being to see what's the most elaborate/neatest/coolest stuff you can do in the time period (or who can build the most/best, or whatever).

But... I'd say whatever you decide to build, you hafta go ahead and try and finish that - so don't start something you don't think you can finish in 2 hours (or you'll have a partially done masterpiece, and the cartoons don't usually come out looking finished). But no - "ok, I can build a mansion, no I can't let's make it a 1-bedroom shack instead" (not that the shack is really easier to build *well*). Since there's a vote on who cheated - a 1 br shack on a 5x5 lot, people would probably think someone dumped an idea in the middle Wink

Also I'd allow custom content. These aren't for an awesome contest afterall, and Pescado probably wouldn't like them anyway Wink They also don't have to be put up for download at all anyway, just nice if the good builders want to. Time spent looking for custom content doesn't count against you though (lots of people will already have things anyway) - so count that in with planning time.
120  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Seasons Error Message on: 2007 July 08, 14:44:33
Not much help if your video card really won't run seasons at all, but do make sure you have enough ram and hard drive space available. My game'll crash with that message in right about that spot if my kids load a buncha stuff and take up all the available space (the computer isn't very big, nor very good). It might be that your laptop can run it (tho probably not well) but all the expansions and downloads and backups and whatever else is on there (music?) is taking up all the room. Anyway, it's worth a try before you sell the disk.
121  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: MATY HOOD CONTEST on: 2007 July 07, 23:07:46
Hm, why not start a 2 hour lot contest (30 min. would make a bad contest I think)? Rules are, you can plan out how you're going to build in your head but not on paper - no graph paper before starting. Start timer, start building - wherever you are when 2 hours is up, stop. Post pics. Everyone gets to vote on whether they think you cheated or not :p
122  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I need strays. Looking for scruffy looking animals! on: 2007 July 05, 09:59:33
I haven't seen a pigeon but there are some pretty nice bird recolors, even a little dragon, and an invisible cage so maybe there is or will be something that'll work. The homeless guy with the caged pigeon friends on the roof would be cute.

I dunno why nobody's making rabbits from the caged animals instead of cats and dogs that look and act stupid.

All of the pets in TS1 annoyed the living crap out of me. I actually like the TS2 ones better, just wish there were more options. Then, I installed pets and seasons at the same time, so I was never trying to make it feel like a whole EP all its own.
123  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I need strays. Looking for scruffy looking animals! on: 2007 July 04, 15:06:26
Did you find a good raccoon? I haven't found one I like yet.

I've got a lemur but am not all too fond of him. Can't find a monkey Sad I love the fox - he's a great pet for my gypsy camp, most of his actions seem totally appropriate and he looks wonderful hunting wildlife in the woods. (5th pic down, click to make it bigger).

http://miscisims.blogspot.com/

(yes, the caravan flies, and yes the landscape is concrete. the world is sorta post-apocalyptic and the gypsies are the only ones that have green growing stuffes. and a bunch of other disclaimers.)
124  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: NPC don't ring a bell on: 2007 July 04, 14:47:23
I'll add my 2cents to the 'wanting default behavior auto with the VC'. I love the mod, but I want it to start normal and then I change it the way I want it. Starting different confuses me and I forget.
125  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Odd problems when taking a specific sim to a community lot on: 2007 July 04, 14:21:12
cool. I don't report stuff at MTS2 anymore (not directly to mods there I mean). Didn't care for the way they dealt with the broken clothing, as in didn't deal with it because they liked the modder that made them <eyeroll>

Well probably 3 of the downloaders is me (I end up redownloading stuff all the time) and 1 is you and 3 are other people that know it's broke on the thread and I've told some people and probably you have too and all. So let's say 14,950 downloaders to go or so.
