76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More bullshit from Massive Shithead on: 2007 November 26, 18:57:29
I used to deal with people like Mutant Bunny for a living. It was my desk that the whiners, the folk who swore no one handled the complaint correctly, the folk threatening legal action , these were my bread and butter.

I enjoyed first explaining in no uncertain terms that the contract states thus, you signed that contract. (ISP) I have gone over your case and either..

Yes your complaint has some merit, let me try this fix.
No, your complaint has no merit, this is a fault of an entity that is out of our hands. (usually the telco) No screaming at them will not aid you and often will hurt you. My job "sir/ma'm" is to speak to that entity on your behalf. The legal contract does not allow me to have you talk to them directly. I do apologize ..yadda

The minute the word legal action is mentioned we were told to hang up. I usually gave a warning. "If you threaten legal action the only response I have is to direct you to our legal department. At that point it is no longer a matter of getting it fixed but a court issue and will be handled by lawyers accordingly. (Boy did they hush up)

My father loves to pull the "this is my problem , give me an answer or I get irate" game. This is the same man who if he yells at me for how I fix his computer I walk out.

I don't care what the "corp" did to piss you off. I am sure some other "corp" did it to me as well. Even , and often in the process of helping the very screaming customer that is so upset at me.
Making someone else's day hell just to feel like you have done something gets you no where. You talk to me civil, and I will give you straight facts (often to the consternation of the "quality listeners" on my calls). If you do not like the facts you are free to take your money and leave. (Though often that entailed a 100 dollar early termination fee)

My method when I get screwed by a corporation. I make friendly with whatever rep I am able to net. I ask them precise questions and give them an understanding that I am looking for answers. If they can provide me with the next step in the chain fine. If they balk I wait.
Screaming makes one look like a tard.

Having removed all hacks, I find that the plants are all in a reset state (not so when I exited.). What I mean is they are all first sprouts. The child does not have interaction to talk to them , but the gold badge is there. If I remember right , children cannot garden without an adult that has a badge under normal circumstances?

This is a bit annoying as at least one of these plants was going to finish it's growth cycle.
-glares at her game-

This is the only thing I have had trouble with!

-goes back to fiddling-

Alright so having macroed a bunch of my kids to the level of gardening gods, I ran into a problem.

If the child talks to a plant, it resets to a neutral state, unseeded, and the child itself does the jump. I do have an error log of that occurring.

On the theory that I have something in the game causing issues, I removed most of my hacks. If this is a hack issue please do let me know.
I being the curious and rather insane type, decided to test if it was just my children suffering from this talk issue. I gold badged an adult, and sent him off to jabber at the plants. No jump, normal incrementing health of plant.

I am not sure when this appeared due to not playing with gardening since installing BV.
81  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Need Help - BV will not start on: 2007 September 12, 07:48:57
Just an odd question, how long are you waiting before you cancel it from its "load lock"?

I ask this because of my own waiting issue on my system. I often have no idea that the game is loading, then eventually it comes up with the black screen, then some time after that I get the ea crap. Then all is smooth.

Here is other possibly unhelpful advice if my situation sounds similar?
Defrag
scan for spyware (adware, spybot)
kill other tasks (possibly even disabling the internet wile you play)

Again, just random thoughts about your situation, not sure if any of that might be helpful but worth a mention.

I didn't even look to see if he had been removed from my friends panel after the poofing. I was just grateful that I didn't have to remove him from the lot via other methods.

Now, can we figure out how to get the fire dancer to work on home lots? I don't care if he sticks around or not, Just long enough to teach the dance. I have horrid load screen times, going to community lots breaks up my "play". I have a hard enough time remembering what the heck I am doing between 4 or more households, add a community or vacation to that and I am insane. (I skip college.)
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage satisfaction on: 2007 September 12, 04:04:57
I enjoy the new interactions. I now can have a shrine on my "cult" lot. I adore the tea set. Being able to swim in the ocean, tan so on is a blast. Hula for everyone!

I did not expect this one to be a hit with me, I only got it for the extra turn on/offs. I am presently surprised.
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 12, 03:57:49
I cheated for the dragon legend. I spawned him off the mailbox at home. He hung around the house for 4 days, generally playing chess. The sim that learned the legend was his most frequent chess partner. Good thing is he has no regular "sim" needs, and after he taught the lesson he poofed like a ninja.

It seems to me, one must be of a reasonable relationship with him to get him to tell you the story. This is just a guess.
85  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: BV: No primping on: 2007 September 10, 17:05:38
heck I never patched seasons, still had primpfix in. Thus primping is still going on in my neighborhoods.
86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 September 10, 16:50:22
Drat , well I will hold on to allinone as long as it causes no further issues. The hotel food sucks anyway. Best to use boolprop dormspecifictoolsdisabled false , that at the least gives me the buy menu. Plop down a grill and I am set for food needs. Though to be honest, with macrotastics, one can caffinate up and get off the hotel lot much easier than it is to meander to your room and eat (even eating hotdogs).

I have not cleaned out my hack folder, cept for those mentioned to cause serious crashes. I even have obj Insim going. I only use it to change turn on/offs.

-is bummed over the semi breakage of allinone-
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 September 09, 09:08:43
Question-
is the standard buyable a multi language? or is US still getting a different dvd/cd manufacture.
If above is the case, than I can understand why the nocd hacks are giving issue.

Otherwise I am stumped. I knew I should have taken up code hacking as a hobby.
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 September 09, 06:24:54
You guys are using the crack that came with the torrent correct?

There was a release of a second cracked exe about 12 hrs or more after that original "rip" was released. There seems to be a undercurrent in the hacking community that if you can "get it done" with d-tools and that hiding program, a half assed crack is fine for "release".

So then an alternative cracking group wrangles the nocd ,beating into submission.

Last count there were at least 3 different nocd hacks. Primary being the one that was released with the original torrent rip (fairlight). There was a second released by posedon/netshow. Possibly associated with the clone cd torrent verses the original fairlight release.

There is an additional non labeled (by a hack group) exe that is downloadable both within the 8g+ multi sims2 mega pack (recently released on demenoid) and as a separate download.

However , in the interest of curiosity. I am running XP. Are those having the additional error running Vista?

89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 September 09, 03:59:45
the no cd crack acquired from demenoid works without any added programs running
(listed as ep6.torrent)
I still have said file, if someone wants me to put it somewhere

skandelouslala-
Something about that doesn't sound right. Please check and see if your computer is attempting to do this connection even when not playing sims. (sitting idle might work)
400+ attempts at connection is more like viral activity, not unheard of with half assed attempts by companies to "phone home" but still , the shear amount is worrying.
91  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Seasons: Plant Growth Study on: 2007 June 02, 03:28:55
What this is saying to me is something I was already noticing. Either stagger your garden for harvesting purposes , or plant similar duration items together. (Preference)

For some reason in my game, planting 3 orchard trees (one of each kind) nets me twice as many oranges as lemons/apples. Example if I start a lot at last day of spring, planting the trees. I get two harvests of oranges and one harvest of lemons/apples before dormancy. If my trees were indoors I suspect the second day of winter would give me the apples/lemons again. Just a odd pattern I noticed.
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Compatibility Issue? on: 2007 May 29, 04:59:59
-cusses at directx-

Right so basically your system isn't accepting the reinstall of direct x. You can try many things at this point. First .. do you have any other game on this system? If so .. does it load?

If no game.. I am stumped for options that do not involve lots of nasty things with reinstalling.
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Compatibility Issue? on: 2007 May 28, 06:30:07
I get that error often if I do not give my system enough time to go from SWG to Sims2.

It means something is attached to your graphics in some way. It may not even be something that is obvious. It is just blocking Lifestories from finding it's way to the graphics port.

my gut says to make sure you have the current version of graphics drivers downloaded, then uninstall the graphics, reboot, reinstall graphics and RUN the directx  install again.

It could also be that directx9c didnt download entire , as the web install is bad bad.

both of these links are the same file , one is direct link to MS.
Good luck!

(edited to change Sims2 to lifestories, though I have had this error in many games for many reasons)
94  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / A real sim drug on: 2007 May 28, 05:26:53
First I have a legitimate reason for asking for this.

I am fiddling with a Dune like neighborhood. I need something that if not taken everyday will kill sims. I suppose I could do this with food, but there are folk I do not want to have access to it. I have tried various potions and so on. I remember a "simdrug" that existed as a first hacked object in the original sims. (some college class that created it) It was rather amusing to watch, I put it on a community lot. When that lot loaded the whole game went to this object first before doing anything else. I would not want the attractiveness of the drug to be so much that it is the "only" fun object. I suspect it might need to be anti fun, thus only those that "have" to have it would use it. Shoot I don't know if this has even been done (been searching content lists). I figure if not used in three sim days death occurs?

If anyone else has a good idea for a substitute for melange , by all means direct me there.
95  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anti-BFBVFS Request on: 2007 March 03, 21:29:08
I second this sticky suggestion. My memory works like sand through a screen. By the time I have found the information for one cause, I have forgotten why I was looking for it in the first place. Nor do I remember what my neighborhood was doing to cause me to research.

-laughing, rolling on the floor, gasping for air-

What were people thinking? Back in the Sim's day I had a collection of odds and ends just to amuse me. If I did that with sims 2 I would have no space left on my computer.

Click on the fireflies, option comes up to catch if the sim can.
