okay, I got the new simPe up and running.
How do I edit relationships?
127  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I break up an engagement without making them hate each other. on: 2007 December 21, 01:47:58
I do have all the expansion packs.  What about a hack that is BV compatible?

I don't want Cassandra and don engaged, but I want don to still be in love with her.

In regards to telemarketing:

1)  I've done it before.  The managers/business isn't very nice to the people who actually do the work (the telemarketers who are on the phones)

2)  We have a telemarketing block on our phone provided by the phone company.  You call our number and hear this message that we don't take unsolicited called and you are told to press 1 plus the #.  Since most telemarketers face a computer wearing a headset with no controls to the phone they can't get through.  Our phone company offers that for an extra $2 a month.  But we pay for a "global communication package" which includes all the special phone features + dsl for one low price!

I just ran regedit.  There is so much in there.  Is there a program (either free or cheap) that you recommend to use, to clean that up; so that only what I really need is in there?
131  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage Woohoo Memories on: 2007 October 27, 15:01:26
Personally, I don't think my Sims can Woohoo in enough places.  What about "WooHoo in the Shower?"  I think everybody has been waiting breathlessly for that one.  I tried to make a Shower Woohoo mod once, but failed catastrophically because I know next to nothing about Slot resources.  The two Sims could get in and shower in the same stall, but when the first one exited, the game crashed.

Basically all that needs to be done (I think) is change the Slotting so that two Sims can use the shower at the same time.  Then activate the Make-Out animation or the Changing Booth animation and you're done.  Seems easy, but what do I know.

I also think there are other Woohoos we need.  We need "Woohoo on the Grave of Mine Enemy."  Who hasn't wanted to do that before?  This should be really big with Romance Sims with few nice points.  Also Woohoo on Dining Table, Woohoo on Desk, Woohoo while Bent Over Balcony, Woohoo on Toy Oven, Woohoo Dressed Like Clowns, Woohoo in Orchard Tree (Seasons EP required).

What if you convert a changing booth to a shower?

[ (ffslotdebugger is quite useful for clearing out memory garbage and fixing stuck things, for example).

what is that and what does it do and where do I get it?
133  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Some needed files were corrupted during installation. Please reinstall this on: 2007 October 22, 19:04:46
no. It doesn't say which files.

But I'll try that uninstall, reinstall idea.  I see I can just uninstall bon voyage, without uninstalling everything.

So I saved my sims2 file to my desktop, and uninstalled just bon voyage.   It's in the process of reinstalling.  Then I remove securom, and put in the the awesome non spawning hack and the no cd crack and I should be okay?

Edit:
Thanks for the advice.  I had been playing the unholy hybrid since the patch came out, but maybe that's too much for my game.

I see that the patch isn't recommended by this site anyway.
134  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Some needed files were corrupted during installation. Please reinstall this app on: 2007 October 22, 18:04:44
I just played the game yesterday.  And it was fine, now today I'm getting this error message when I'm trying to load bon Voyage.  I am running the "unholy hybrid"  Do I need to reinstall or is there another fix?   And if I have to reinstall, do I have to reinstall everything or just bon voyage?   I tried restarting my computer.  I tried deleting the accessories.cash and the groups.cash, but I keep getting that same error message.

Any advice?
135  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a fix for the blue screen of death? on: 2007 October 14, 18:56:59
Thanks.  I've tried 3 different nvidia drivers.  I'll try that one now Smiley
136  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Blue Screen of Doom on: 2007 October 14, 12:48:05
Sweet, thanks for the link.  Silly me, not checking for driver updates every fracking day.  Roll Eyes

Seriously though, nVidia has had to bend over backwards to fix a problem that isn't their fault in the first place.  What's up with that?

I tried that new driver, and my game still crashed.

maybe they don't get much rain in CA?
138  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a fix for the blue screen of death? on: 2007 October 13, 18:11:54
Thanks for the help; I don't like that cheat as it ruins my awesome graphics, but I guess that's better than the game randomly crashing (sometimes right after a promotion) and me loosing everything because I forget to save.

I guess I'll go over there to the "you broke it thread" and read what's there.
139  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Is there a fix for the blue screen of death? on: 2007 October 13, 14:49:45
I have all the expansion packs, and all the stuff packs.  I have removed securom from my system and am using the no-cd crack to load the game.

I have tried several different drivers.  It still crashes.  One driver I had stopped the crashing till I got bon voyage.

The game will crash to a blue screen, and sometime stay like that till I ctrl+alt+del. Or some times it crashes shows the blue screen and goes to the desktop.  It has no warning and is totally random; it could crash after a few min of play, or I could play all night and have no crash.  Sometimes I get an error message about my graphics adapter, but now always.  I have to restart the computer to load the game again.

runs sims good. (except for the bsod) Hubby built it for 1/3 to 1/5 the cost of a gaming machine and it keeps up with them pretty well.

My specs:
Shuttle XPC barebones system came with onboard sound, power supply (which we had to upgrade), heat sink

CPU: Pent 3.2 ghz dual core processor -- not a celeron
Memory: 2 sticks of 512 dual channel each = 1 gb memory 4 channels
Vid card: Nvidia Gforce 6600gt; PCI express with 128 vid memory
Dvd RW drive
Hard drives: 150gb 10,000 rpm for programs -- 1/4 full (loads windows in less than a min, used to load sims in less than a min till I filled it with downloads now it takes 3-5 min) 300 gb 74,000 rpm hard drive for storage divided into 4 nearly equal partitions.
Operating system: Windows XP service pack 2

not sure if I'm forgetting anything.

And the game runs fast even when I had a 12 family household. I sometimes have to pause to keep up. All graphics settings are high by default. I see cut scenes. I can invite 8 sims to a party.

good hubby, good hubby. I think I'll keep him

Oh and we  bought a 19" LCD response time: 8ms monitor from ebay for about $200. Sims looks good on it.

If this has already been answered, please don't poke me with sticks, as I haven't found a solution yet  Nevermind.  Use all the sticks you want if you solve my problem.   Smiley

I have a firewall and virus scanner that I keep updated.  ( don't really want to disable those as I have an always on dsl connection and often use the internet while playing)  I run defrag, norton one button check up, virus scanner, and several ad ware/spyware scanners on a regular basis (2-5 times a week -- defrag every couple of weeks, we try not to let it be longer than a month)
140  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV patch is out on: 2007 October 11, 23:53:25
I don't trust it.
I've removed the securom folders and the registry entry, and added the no-cd hack
I installed  the patch then re added the no-cd patch.

Well, you are obviously more trusting than a number of us here who have not installed the patch at all.  You need to read previous posts in this thread re: installing the patch and then running the no-cd crack.  Unless your no-cd download is for this patch, you may or may not end up with a BFBVFS due to the Unholy Hybrid of BV versions.  All the best.

Yeah, I should have went with my first instinct and come here first.  But then I reasoned.  A patch fixes problems right.
Next time I'll be coming here first.

I had to re remove securom because of that patch.  I hope the no-cd crack + patch = unholy hybrid doesn't create that dreaded BFBVFS Undecided

Then on this site (from phyllisp) I heard about a securom file that I missed "Here's something I noticed.  When one hovers the mouse over the CmdLineExt.dll in c:\Windows\system32 folder, it says "Description: SecuROM context menu for Explorer. Company: Sony DADC Austria AG." and the version etc.  Maybe instead of outsourcing, they got that part from the Austrian branch?"

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9924.msg271245.html#msg271245

So I went and found the CmdLineExt.dll file, and noticed that the last time it was modified was today.  I downloaded and installed the patch today.  humm.  I thought of that as I read this post.

I have deleted that file (the CmdLineExt.dll file that is, I don't know about deleting the patch without reinstalling).
But I have told my firewall to deny thesims2 access to the web.
142  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 October 10, 23:48:18
Well for me it wasn't a problem.
I downloaded and installed the patch, which over wrote my no-cd hack
so I reapplied the no-cd patch
And I'm playing  the game as I type.

Are you seeing any performance improvements?  I'd think that overwriting the new .exe would bollux up at least some of the fixes in the Maxis patch, though if some of the changes were to objects.package or other files then you might still get some benefit with an "unholy hybrid" configuration.

not yet.
143  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 October 10, 21:26:04
Yes. The patch would replace or be incompatible with your new noCD, in all likelyhood, so it will no longer function.

So, it would be pointless to go through the process of removing SecuROM if you updated with the patch.

And we'll have to wait for a new hax0red no-cd patched .exe, right?
