Title: "Walk to lot" results in missing sim in Bon Voyage
Post by: kutto on 2007 October 06, 19:10:36
Trying out the new interaction "Walk to Lot," I've run into a big problem. The lot loads, but the sim never shows up. I can X out the interaction, I can line up things behind it, but nothing I've done seems to work. I don't have a Lot Debugger to retrieve the sim on the hotel yet(that was dumb). There are no errors pooping up. I updated all of my awesome hacks this very day, so I can't be oldversioned. Any idea what would cause this?

I'd double check your hacks folder. I had a lot of problems with the walk to... functionality at first, either arriving with no sims or losing all control while departing. It turned out that one or two of my hacks weren't BV compatible. It's been working fine since I updated the out of date hacks and removed a dubious non-awesome one.

No non-awesome for me, though I still have some TwoJeffs. Is he half-awesome now or what's the situation? I certainly do not have any kind of pet killer.

The eevilcat scenario posted above is especially possible if you simply overwrote your hacks folder, rather than deleting it first and then loading updated hacks - you may have an old incompatible hack that went un-updated or even a duplicate.

With Twojeffs hacks, you need to make sure that they are BV compatible, and compatible with Awesome(TM) hacks.  There are some TJ hacks that specify that they are not compatible with some things in JM's director's cut.  Make sure you read the RTFM files for your TJ hacks and make decisions accordingly.

I haven't added anything from TwoJeffs since he left, but I'm headed to his site now to figure out if one of his is causing the problem.

I know someone else here had problems with the TJ visitor controller and the 'walk to..' thing. I do not know if it has since been updated.

I believe he has. VC and ARC are in their own subforum in TJ's main forum.

All of TJs hacks have been updated or certified for BV -- you need to update any of his you have.

I had this same problem with TJs hack folder in my game.  I need to go get updates.  If you remove TJs hacks, the sims will mysteriously reappear on their "home" lot.

It was either the VC or Marhis' walkby tweak. I removed both of them, and now my problem is fixed. I looked at the TJ's area, and it seemed like I have to register to get the BV version, I guess because it's still in beta. No biggie, really. I only used it on one lot.

Damn.  I like the painting version of the VC, so have never made the switch to the beta version.  I have my favourite community lots binned, with paintings included, ready to put in any new 'hood I make.  It's simpler than updating each community lot the first time I go there.

Now I have to update to the beta version (since I have this glitch too), as TJ is no longer updating the painting version.

/me presses the thanks button, as she was wondering what was causing this glitch in her game.
