101  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: How To Get AwesomeMOD work with High-End Loft on: 2010 February 07, 12:15:10
So the new test AM stays in WA Mods\Packages?
But the framework files get copied - not cut - into HELS Game\Bin?

In this case I'm getting "no disc found"
I'm even getting this after uninstalling HELS and just using a WA AM as before.

Playing this game gets more obscure by the day...
102  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.9/2.4 Issues on: 2010 February 04, 19:45:54
go here C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp, then sort by date, look for the newest folder created by date and time you patched, you should find rtpatch.txt inside the folder, scroll to the end of the txt, you will find the problem file.
Okay thanks, it says the problem is Game\Bin\Resource.cfg
I don't even know if thats supposed to be in there, but it stops the update whether its in or not.
103  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.9/2.4 Issues on: 2010 February 04, 15:27:19
Bah, neither patch will work.
I've tried removing and replacing all the usual suspect files with no joy.
The failed update moves too fast - I can't see which file is the culprit, I even tried recording this bit with fraps, but it won't record anything unless an application is running.
How else can I find which one is the problem file?
104  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Got High End Loft Stuff two days early . . . for all the good it does me. on: 2010 February 03, 17:21:09

107  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2010 January 27, 13:52:12
I've only  got 2gb of RAM and on 32 bit Vista but I'm trying this CFF Explorer method anyway. Will report back.

EDIT: ...and it crashed twice in 30 minutes. It may not be connected to that, but I'll revert to the normal method until I have over 2gb RAM.
108  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: ZOMFG customisable lights! Is that an AM feature or a 1.7/1.8 feature? on: 2010 January 18, 15:02:29
I'm pretty sure thats a 1.7 feature.
109  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 January 07, 23:14:05

1.  Anything available in sims3pack files I have been installing with the launcher, so I only merged my package files.  That should be fine, correct?
Yes because the merged packaged files are now doing what the launcher was doing all along: large single files with multiple stuff inside them.
Your sims3packs were already done the "right way".
110  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 January 06, 18:53:55
Okay, thanks Anach.
All my stuff was in .package anyway, the only thing in my .dbc is a Riverview with text string errors everywhere, so I didn't bother with that.
But as you said, loading, framerate, menus, they are probably about 25% better now. I thought the game was incapable of this, but its breezing it.
The merged package sizes are larger than I thought they would be, but the trade off is undoubtably worth it.
111  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 January 06, 05:31:41
Tried it and it works lovely.
Are there any advantages to 'reject' rather than 'replace'?
And the 'compress' option: have you lot been using that?
Nice one.
112  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: World Adventures - Family Vanishes While on Vacation - Any Fixes? on: 2010 January 03, 20:13:43
Just a suggestion, but if you have Twallan's Supercomputer, you could try "Recover missing Sims".
No, didn't work. He's not technically missing, he's still walking around.
113  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Colonization 212 - A New World on: 2010 January 03, 01:45:25
This is rather good. Would be nice for a vacation hood particularly.
I'll keep an eye on this. Although the crater texture would look better than the honeycomb one.
114  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: World Adventures - Family Vanishes While on Vacation - Any Fixes? on: 2010 January 02, 15:59:09
I've got the same problem. I've got an earlier save where the sim 'head bust' does indeed show while in the hood (Egypt), but when I try to return home via the phone, the loading bar appears, only to load Egypt again.
I tried to edit town in the home hood and change the active family, but its greyed out because they are not currently in the home hood.
How can I get this sim home again?
115  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 Released - CAW Out on: 2009 December 16, 22:40:50
You have to patch twice.
Whats up with that then? Run the same patch twice, or two different ones?  Tongue
116  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 Released - CAW Out on: 2009 December 16, 22:14:57
An interesting point mentioned:

Long suspected, but never actually proven. Hurrah.
117  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Pudding Pups to pee and dig holes in your Play d'Eau 'hoods? on: 2009 December 12, 14:37:36
does it really matter what order they come out in?
With an average six month gaps inbetween each EP, I would give a full-blooded YES to that.
If they have the dimwittedness to give us pets before businesses, then new levels of corporate blindness have been reached.

Dunno if anyones seen this but heres a list of all error meanings. Although it can be vague.
Notice how error 16 didn't exist when the article was written.

119  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Well, well, THIS is a surprise... on: 2009 November 26, 08:09:07
Look again. Release date is 5/2/2010. That's MAY, not February.
Thats quite clearly february old dude. Going senile perchance?
120  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2009 November 25, 19:40:28

Where is this?
Someone from customsims3forums got a dutch EA reply. Thats the translation.
Can't find the original post but its there somewhere.
121  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Well, well, THIS is a surprise... on: 2009 November 25, 19:16:22
The question is surely would they have the audacity to release a 'loft pack' without spiral stairs and ladders?
Common sense says no, but past experience says yes.
122  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2009 November 24, 16:14:38
Update: This error 12 was quite different from the others. Easy to detect, and easy to save afterwards.
By simply bulldozing one of the 34x42 lots next to the main temple in china, and replacing with the lot below, the game threw an error 12 every time out of like 7 tries. By bulldozing the suspected lot, saving was possible.
An older version of the lot worked no problem. Strange.

===============================
Update: This is apparently a translation of the official word of what error 12 is:

Code 12
This device can not find enough free resources that it can use. If you're using them, you must disable one of the other devices on this system.

(Code 12)

Cause

This error can occur when two devices that are installed on your computer the same I / O ports, the same break, or the same Direct Memory Access channel (either by the BIOS, operating system, or both) have been allocated. This error message can also appear if the BIOS is not enough resources allocated to the device.

Recommended solution

You can Troubleshooting Wizard in Device Manager to determine where the conflict is, and then disable the conflicting device.

Disable the conflicting device

1. In the Properties dialog on the General tab.
2. Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooting wizard. The wizard asks you some simple questions and provides a solution to your problem based on the answers you give.
3. Follow the steps through the wizard offered to the problem

Just got an error 12 while attempting to save in China. Tongue
Just installed awesomemod beta, maybe that triggered it somehow...
124  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: So is World Adventures worth it? on: 2009 November 22, 01:24:28
Basically, it would appear that a cap of about 300 mb of cc is called for with this EP, perhaps less.
Its an absolute pain the ass in that regard, but the scenery, the interactive objects, and the ability to have 4 hoods in one savegame means that in the end, I suppose, it is worth it.

Where did you read that? Does that include EA Store crap (I don't know if that even counts as CC) or just other cc? Because I've got over 500 MB for EA Store crap and I haven't noticed anything missing. Other cc I have 50 MB of so I don't know if it'll stop me at 300 or not.

To the OP, I like the EP more than the base game itself. Though that might only last for a month, since when I got the base game I obsessively played for about a month and then got bored. So we'll see how long I obsess over the EP. So far I like it a lot and I haven't had any problems that other people have been having.
Yes I meant you will have to limit yourself in terms of CC cause the EP and CC do not appear to mix.
Although over at MTS there has been suggestion that .package files are the problem, and that having the Launcher install the CC to \Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCCache seems to not slow the EP down much at all.
I dont have much laucher-installed stuff, perhaps you could check that out for us claudiasharon?
