101  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Updater Revived (v1.6 - Updated 09/07/2010) on: 2010 September 07, 19:21:20
I got error 1 cause I have shit luck. Clearly it is wrong. Maybe it's because I have windows 7? A lot of shit messes up because of that. Which is really fucking annoying.
Your Electronic Arts folder is located at the right place. Does it download AM and start the game? I forgot to add "exit" to the file after it starts the game.
Code:
(...)
cd "%base%"
3booter.exe

:error1
echo Error code 1. The updater couldn't find an Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 folder in your My Documents folder.
echo Read the Readme for details.
(...)
It displays error 1 right after starting 3booter.

Or doesn't it download anything at all and does it display error 1 immediately? Then there's something wrong with the registry check, I think.

I found this. It may be fake (Cancle?). I haven't tried it, and I probably never will. I'll just wait for a Vitality or Reloaded torrent.

v1.6awetest
This Updater version updates your AwesomeMod to its test version instead of the normal version. This is necessary if you patched your game to 1.15/2.10/3.6/4.3.
You have to download a new Updater version when AwesomeMod leaves its test state!
Don't use this when you still have the old 1.14/2.9/3.5/4.2 patch!

Attachment deleted. Use v1.7awetest instead! It's compatible with Fast Lane Stuff!

Updated to v1.6
Fixed bad registry check on x64 systems.
105  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Updater Revived (v1.6 - Updated 08/25/2010) on: 2010 August 25, 12:02:10
No the  "HKLM\Software\Sims\ " path does not exist on my computer at all they are all under HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\Sims (version name ie 3, World Adventures, etc)" path so when I run the tool it says the folder cannot be found but it stilll continues with the rest of the program.  In fact the 'strange' way it seems to be confused me when I was trying to find the codes for my games to reinstall them and they were not where all the help pages I tried looking up said they would be, it was a stroke of luck that I found a reference to the Wow6432 folder.  I am not that computer savvy so I dont know if I would be safe in copying the files and creating a HKLM\Software\Sims file
I didn't know that 64-bit systems store the 32-bit registry values there. I'll add a check for it.

EDIT: It should work now. Please report back.
106  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Updater Revived (v1.5 - Updated 08/18/2010) on: 2010 August 25, 09:34:15
Where it says 'reg query "HKLM\Software\Sims\The Sims 3 World Adventures" etc in the batch files - does this make a differance as my path on my computer seems to be HKLM\Software\Wow6432NOde\Electronic Arts\Sims\
If HKLM\Software\Sims\The Sims 3 World Adventures also exists, it doesn't make a difference and it should work.
If it doesn't exist, post it here and I'll fix it.
107  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Updater Revived (v1.5 - Updated 08/18/2010) on: 2010 August 18, 09:58:36
Updated to v1.5
The updater is hyper-automatic now. It searches for awesome.package and replaces it with the new one.
I had to change the storage folder. It is now: "Documents\AwesomeMod Updater Revived" instead of "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Updater". The updater will delete the old folder before creating the new one.
108  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Updater Revived (v1.4 - Updated 08/16/2010) on: 2010 August 16, 11:53:27
Updated to v1.4
Now automatically checks install location and language.
109  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Updater Revived (v1.3 - Updated 08/08/2010) on: 2010 August 14, 08:28:15
I got an Error code 11 and need to edit the .bat file because I have everything installed on an external drive - G: Program Files (x86)

I  know I need to replace all %ProgramFiles% to point to the directory where I have the base game and extras  installed but I don't know the correct command. I've tried using G: and (G) but it's not working. AM works great and I've never had a problem with it. I just got the *will expire* notice and would like to use the updater.

Any help would be appreciated.
Open the batch file with Notepad, click Edit > Replace and fill in the fields like this:

Click "Replace all" and save the file. Let me know if it works.
110  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Translation Thread on: 2010 August 11, 11:33:09
That would be great.
111  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Translation Thread on: 2010 August 11, 09:10:23
Would it be possible to add a _Female definition to the Sacred trait? I've noticed other traits have a key that allows for the differentiation, and it would be something like this:

<KEY>Gameplay/Excel/Traits/TraitList:ChosenSacred_Female</KEY>

In the same venue, can I add _Female keys to the descriptions and tooltips when necessary? Or should I post a more detailed request, indicating their exact placement within the canonical awestring.xml?
Yes, you can, if your language happens to require it. Keys without them are ones that don't include gendered references in English. If the resulting string is a duplicate anyway, don't bother.
Is this also possible for Supreme Commander Tones/Descriptions?
112  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Updater Revived on: 2010 August 07, 17:21:56
as my awesome.package is stored in Mods/Awesome folder
Yeah, mine is too. I also read about others who store it there. Will be included in v1.3.
113  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / AwesomeMod Updater (v2.8.3 - Updated 2013-10-16) on: 2010 August 07, 11:41:44
AwesomeMod Updater
Slightly based on darkorical's and CaptaiNemo's versions.

This batch file automatically updates AwesomeMod (and other MATY TS3 hacks, if in use) when you start your game. That is, when you change your shortcut to point to this batch file.

Features
  • It deletes scriptCache.package if necessary
  • It also updates 3booter, FPS Limiter, RuleOf6, NoGreenHair and StrayGnomeFix and puts them into the right folder
  • It's user friendly. If something goes wrong, it displays the user an error code and error message
  • You can place the file wherever you want
  • It notifies the user when an update is available
  • It automatically determines whether the user needs the stable or test AwesomeMod version
  • It is able to automatically install AwesomeMod if necessary
  • Everything is automated!

Windows only!
Please note it only works with the 'new' (post-Ambitions) way of installing custom content in package format.

What does it do
Step 1: It checks for updates to itself and prompts the user if an update is available.
Step 2: It reads your The Sims 3 directory from the registry.
Step 3: It creates a new folder inside My Documents, called "AwesomeMod Updater". The .zip files will be stored here.
Step 4: It checks if AwesomeMod is compatible with your current game version.
Step 5: It downloads the files if newer versions are available.
Step 6: It searches for awesome.package, ruleof6.package, nogreenhair.package, and straygnomefix.package somewhere in Documents\Electronic Arts\ and replaces them with the newly downloaded ones.
Step 7: It moves 3booter and FPS Limiter to the base game folder.
Step 8: It starts 3booter.

Easy installer
You can use this as an easy installer for 3booter and FPS Limiter. It can also install AwesomeMod if you don't have it yet.
Please note that the updater does not install RuleOf6, NoGreenHair and StrayGnomeFix if you don't already have them in your Mods folder.

Q: Why would I use 3booter and/or FPS Limiter?
A: There's definitely no harm at all in using 3booter or FPS Limiter. In fact:
If the game crashes within 30 seconds of an attempted start, 3booter will kick it in the taco.
and, the most important part:
FAILURE TO DO THIS CAN RESULT IN YOUR VERY EXPENSIVE NEW VIDEO CARD BECOMING A VERY EXPENSIVE LUMP OF FUSED HARDWARE!

Download (v2.8.3.196)

Old versions
Please note that old versions don't include wget.exe and unzip.exe. Get them from the latest version's .zip file.
Old versions might not be compatible with the current way of installing things or even mess things up. Use them at your own risk.

What, exactly, is the difference between "There's nobody home right now" and "Sim is out at the moment"?

Well, that's the weirdness. I've never seen "There's nobody home right now" before. I only see it when using spawnmoreoverlords. It seems like the only data the game knows, is the name of the household and the family thumbnail, nothing more.
115  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 June 23, 13:36:32
The maptags do appear, but the Sims themselves don't. When I click the map tag, the "Visit the Peasant-household"-option has been grayed out and the tooltip says "There's nobody home right now...". In Edit Town, it appears that they just live there, but they don't. When I switch to them via Edit Town, the game loads the household properly. I can't switch to them using the Awesome-way. It just takes a lot of time to switch to every household in town via Edit Town.

Are you sure the sims are actually at home, and not at work/school/walking the neighbourhood?  Sometimes it can be difficult to actually catch sims at home.

Wouldn't the tooltip say something like "Sim is out at the moment" then?
When I type in the babyboom command after spawnmoreoverlords, I can switch to the other households. They only contain a baby and a toddler then, and not the 'overlords'.
Also, when I save the game and load it again, all houses are just empty, with the standard "Nobody lives here"-tooltip and the empty house-icon next to the cursor.

if Testingcheats is not enabled, SpawnMoreOverlords won't do anything. Make sure it's on.

You're WRONG, Claeric, as expected.
You have to enable DebugCommands in AwesomeMod. And I did enable it. But spawnmoreoverlords just doesn't work as I expect. But maybe it just has to work like this?
118  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 June 22, 13:23:11
Is the spawnmoreoverlords-command supposed to work? I know it's a debugging command, but when I use it, all other households get a 'There's nobody home right now...'-tooltip when I try to visit them. I also can't switch to them when CTRL-clicking. I use the command because I want a random town when I start a new game, instead of those stupid premade townies. The only way to make my game work properly is switching to every household via Edit Town. Is this behaviour a bug or is the command working as intended?
119  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Please list all typos and grammatical errors found in Ambitions here. on: 2010 June 05, 19:12:30
I have no idea if the existing programs to change text function with Ambitions yet, but there's no harm in making a list of what needs fixing, right? If they do work I will fix them, once enough are compiled that I can get one reasonably filled fix out.
"Old" text-changing mods don't work with Ambitions apparently. At least in my game.
