Yep same problem for me.  Every sim is stuck in the last interactions and there's no way to get them to stop.  I even tried resetting them.  I downloaded the new AM this morning, and I DO know how to decompress the file.

Apparently typing backtowork into the cheat bar as soon as they've given birth works. I had (I've gone back to the sims 2) the awesome mod though and this command didn't work for me.

I type this as soon as they have the first baby bump.  No reason why they can't work while pregnant.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How can ghosts be forced to eat Ambrosia? on: 2009 July 19, 22:42:24
I remember reading somewhere that no it does not go bad. I personally have had a number of servings in the fridge for a LOOOONG time. Have also had them sitting around in a sim's inventory without going bad.

Yes, but then you have to watch your sims like a hawk.  Mine always seem to pull it out and eat it when I'm not looking.  I only realize when I see their happiness for 7 days AND their life reset.

There's always the option of having the party at the park.  No cleanup afterward.
5  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Story Mode on: 2009 July 17, 17:35:55
I'm really not finding the 1:00 moving around that everyone talks about.  At most, every night I get maybe 4 or 5 events. Most of those are "befriend" or "antagonize".  I started in an empty town and deleted all characters.  Then I created my Legacy Sim and am on the 6th generation.  I still only get a couple of move ins or family creations a week.  I never get marriages, and the births they announce at 1:00 are sims that I can't find.

Also, sims I send out into the wild never do anything again.  No promotions, births, marriages...nothing.

Side note:  Just last night, I had the announcement of a birth baby named with only Stars again, and I have the absolute latest awesomemod installed every time I start the game.
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Showering is Inappropriate Behavior! on: 2009 July 15, 22:08:24
Whenever my sims have an overnight visit, I find it's acceptable for them to shower anytime after they are granted permission to stay over until the visit ends - if I have a sim wake up at 6 am and shower, for example, that is usually fine. I have had some issues with the hosting sim evidently deciding my sim has overstayed his welcome rather early in the morning, and I was wondering if it had anything to do with the time the host is due at work. The game might be "ending the visit" without bothering to notify you in order to give the host ample time to shower, etc before heading off to work.

I find my guests will excuse themselves whenever they have to go to work or my sims have to go to work.  I've had overnight guests that didn't have to work on a given day, and my sims that didn't have to work, so the overnight guest stayed until midnight the next night.

No. Apparently, when I was messing around with the spreadsheet, I not only duplicated rows, but I failed at alphabetizing. That was during a bad insomnia streak. I'm really, truly, not usually that stupid.

And here we all were hoping you had found a hidden one...like the grilled cheese aspiration in Sims 2.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Legacy Challenge for TS3 on: 2009 July 10, 18:31:51
I try to ignore that fishbowl one; it just seems unbelievably tedious. You're probably right. I've changed it to 13, at least for now.

I've found it not to be tedious if you have a few generations of fishers.  When one of my sims finally rolled that one, we already had perfect fish in inventory from previous generations and they were able to get that one rather quickly.  If I remember correctly, the sim didn't have to catch the perfect fish himself.  I just gave them to him and he put them in the bowls.  Then we sold the bowls and used the fish for fertilizer.  Cheesy
9  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 10, 14:22:43
I'm not sure whether the difference is because of play-style (he's playing a super social sim who's friends with half the neighbourhood; I'm not) or town (he's in Riverview, I'm in the default one whose name escapes me right now) or whether there was a code change in there during that time.

Um...seriously?  There have been about 48 Billion changes to awesomemod over the past "couple of weeks."
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Legacy Challenge for TS3 on: 2009 July 09, 14:37:21
I don't know why people are rushing off and getting their sims jobs, anyway. There are so many easier ways of surviving in this game. I gave my founder the "raise 5 children" LTW, her spouse had the "earn royalties writing books" one, my 2nd gen heir rolled "max writing and painting" and his spouse had the "13 perfect fish". If they roll wants for careers, I tend to let my sims get jobs only when they are well on their way to achieving their LTWs. Because they have more skills by then, they get promotions much faster which makes it more worthwhile.

I'm with you on this.  My Legacy family has over 1M simoleans in the bank.  The house has enough of what they need.  The money trees net $20k a day, so I've stopped planting more.  They don't NEED a job and the jobs take too much of their day away that they can be fulfilling their LTW.  Unless sims have a LTW that is job related, they aren't going to work any more.
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Where are all the townies? on: 2009 July 08, 15:49:13
Thanks for the help, I'd seen the destroyallnpcs but have been worried about using it, but I've a feeling this 'Npc' family is starting to bork the game world anyway. One of my sims has just befriended an npc and any interaction with this npc grinds the system down, with a message that can't fully display, but looks to be full of ... ... ...'s - I get the impression it's trying to display all his family members.

The "star people" are a bug that happened several versions of awesomemod ago.  I just got rid of one yesterday.  They have nothing to do with NPC's specifically.  Mine was a townie.  If you look in another thread for "Baby Name from Hell" (I can't remember where it is off the top of my head), you'll see talk about it.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Baby name from Hell on: 2009 July 08, 10:02:35
I kept calling the offending child till my sim had a high enough relationship that she could invite her over.  I added her to the household, changed her name, then kicked her out.

Even though the girl showed she never aged in the relationship panel, when she arrived to visit, she had grown into a teen.  It took me a moment to recognize her, but since my town is deserted, and since she was the only one that showed up at the theater when my sim invited someone over, it didn't take too long to figure out what happened.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Sharing inventory on: 2009 July 07, 20:05:41
I just realized you can set any door to be the front door by clicking on it and choosing said option.  Had my sim not wanted to upgrade her door, I still wouldn't know that. Tongue

I've been driving myself crazy because they all come and ring the bell at the garage door, ala Sims 2.  I was wishing for a "bamboozled" door.  Who knew that you could do that?  We really need a "did you know you could do this..." thread.  There probably is one and I've missed it.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Baby name from Hell on: 2009 July 07, 17:02:39
I have an offending STAR child in my neighborhood, but I don't know how to select her.  Two of my generations have now met her at school, so she is not aging.  I've never seen her walking around the neighborhood.  She is just in their relationship panel and when they meet her it says, "Jane has met ***.***.***(etc) at school today."  Jane can't invite the friend over, so that I can select her and I don't know how to find her.  I'm usually pretty computer savy, but this has me stumped.  Inviting her on the phone causes the game to crash and the only option is to reboot.  Any suggestions on how I can find this child to nuke her?
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Sharing inventory on: 2009 July 07, 13:31:37
I was vastly surprised when I read someone mentioning that a toddler sleeping with a teddybear in their inventory got a buff. I tried it and the teddy showed in the crib and they got a +20 "Cuddle Time" moodlet. So cute. X_X You can also place the teddy directly in the crib but I was too busy stressing over having a gazillion toddlers to check if that gave the same moodlet. So, yeah. I don't know if this is just ME being slow or if it was helpful to anyone. Tongue

I did not know this.  Finally a use for the bear other than "talk through."  I always hated that feature.
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Sharing inventory on: 2009 July 05, 10:39:16

There seems to be a lot of things like this in TS3. My boyfriend refused to decorate things properly because he didn't know that the create-a-style allowed you to drag the entire template (not just the individual patterns) to other objects. (TBH, it took me several days to realize that one on my own.)

Well...actually...I refused to decorate properly because I didn't realize you could drag entire templates onto other objects either.  So much to learn...so little time.

*sigh* No.  I'm always the last to know, and I even did a search before posting.  I suppose this is one of those things everyone else knew, like "eating will fill up the hunger meter."

18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Sharing inventory on: 2009 July 03, 10:40:42
Since I just discovered this, I thought I'd pass it along to those who may also not have discovered it.

In order to pass things from one family member to the next, I had been placing the item out of the inventory and then having the other family member pick it up.  Today I discovered that you can pick something out of one person's inventory (a single item or the whole cluster), and drop them on the thumbnail of the person you'd like to give them to.  It'll go into their inventory.

19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Legacy Challenge for TS3 on: 2009 July 02, 20:22:52
Keep in mind (because I didn't) that in order to get 33 LTW, you need 33 sims. I suppose that could break down as 2 in the first generation, then probably 4 each generation since the legacy ends at the birth of the tenth. I should have kept all five sisters of the second generation in the house and had them reach their LTW, using one of the youngest twins as heir. Instead, my next family-oriented sim gets to be a baby factory. I'm truly tempted to restart the Tests, my Sims 1 & 2 family. They had 11 children in Sims 2.

Also keep in mind that not everyone makes their LTW.  I had a spouse that ended up being near elder when the heir married her (poor planning on my part, but it took him forever to woo her...)  She died at only level 6 of her career.
20  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 01, 19:43:14
I'm with Pes, I have never seen this option in game, and I've had my sims stand there for hours romancing each other.

It seems to take more social foreplay to pop up compared to when it appears in bed, but it's definitely there - if you can get the other Sim to think the active Sim is "extremely irresistible", the options to woo hoo and try for baby should appear shortly afterwards.

I've had this option, but nothing ever comes of it when I choose it.  I assumed they'd go off to the bedroom if I selected it and that it was broken.  Any time I choose "woo hoo" when they are standing and romancing, they stand there without doing anything further.  Hmm....maybe it's telepathic woohoo.
21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Think of the children! (Bad Parenting in the Sims 3) on: 2009 June 30, 20:51:32
Am I missing something in that pic?  Parents woohooing while their kids sleep is parenting fail?

Glad I wasn't the only one.
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Grampa's losing it a little on: 2009 June 30, 20:48:24
Now that I think about it my elder sims keep wishing to have a baby… One of them actually wishes to have a baby and become a grandparent… and he hates children.
I love sim-senility.

Yep, I had an elder wish to have a baby, too.  She was 89.  She died the next day.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: They can autonomously cheat. on: 2009 June 30, 20:24:00
Then after he became an adult he got this want to break up with her!  He didn't appear to be interested in anyone else, and she had not cheated on him in any way.

In the same vein of "wtf?"....in my Legacy, I've had two mothers of children want to see their children marry.  This after the children were already married for years and parents themselves.  Apparently the mom didn't approve of the current spouse.  I'd keep deleting the want, and it kept coming back till the mom died.
24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Gardening and fertilizing on: 2009 June 29, 15:20:09
So they'll just keep yielding produce? Cool! I have quite a few perfect and special plants that i didn't want to lose. Thanks.

Yes, a definite exploit.  I saved a lot full of perfect fruit/veggies/money trees and plop it down as a community lot in non-challenge neighborhoods.  They can go daily and harvest without having to do anything for it.

I'm not sure what you expected to steal out of a restaurant. The napkins?

True.  At least the family gets to use that plate daily.
