Title: Return of the jump bug w/ Seasons?
Post by: MoodyMoondoogle on 2007 March 01, 09:01:58
I never had the infamous jump bug before, so I don't know if this is even the same problem. Since installing Seasons, my sims won't move (some of them. I haven't checked all families). They'll act like they're about to do something, but it seems that their actions are being blocked. They'll stop and just stand there. They stand around at home. They stand around at businesses, the stand around community lots. Free will is on.
Has anyone else had this problem yet? If so, what did you do?
I like Seasons and all, but I won't think twice about ripping it from the guts of my computer if this problem continues....

Edit: Upon actually reading other things, I've discovered that this isn't exactly a jump bug persay (they can interact with each other), but  they just don't have the free will they're supposed to have. Seems more like a hack conflict, but I'm pretty sure I'm not running any hacks...that I'm aware of anyway.

I was going to say, it sounds like you've left an incompatible hack in.  People talk about the jump bug as though it was a specific thing caused by one thing only but the jumping is really the sign of an error.  You can try a couple of things to get started.

1. Run the game without Downloads in - if it's still there, it's not custom content causing the problem
2. Run the game in Debug Mode and see what the error message and log say - this should give you some idea of what is causing the problem.

Thanks, maxon.
I'm gonna try entering in debug mode and see what pops up.
I have an overwhelming number of CC in my game, but no hacks that I'm aware of.
I know it's possible that something could've slipped in, but without simpe I have no idea how to check.
Thanks again.

You can use Sims2Pack Clean Installer from MTS2 to identify hacks. They should show up in red when you scan all of your files. The link to install it is here: http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/ (http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/)

Ah, thank you KellyQ.
I'm gonna install this right now.

...and that, ladies and gentlemen (You too Pescado), is why I come here.
I get answers and I get them quick. Seasons is back in working order again thanks to the deletion of something I never use anyway.
So, thanks again.

Glad you got it worked out although I am slightly *green* with envy. My copy of Seasons isn't due to arrive until either Mar. 2nd or 5th according to Amazon. >:(

Mind if you can be a bit more forthcoming and actually name whatever it was that caused your problems?

That way... other simmers may benefit? Just a thought. :P

Right behind you, Ste.  I lost my free will too after I put back most of my CC's and MATY's updated hacks.  Oh, I did manage to get an error log.  Hang on...
Any one care to guess what's wrong with my game?  Thanks!

Never mind...  I think I found the culprit.  It was Crammyboy's OutdoorBath fix.  Oh well.

Suberspunk, I'd be happy to be more forthcoming with what caused my problem.
When I opened clean installer, I found something highlighted in red and I deleted it.
I hope this helps.

Shouldn't that be Superspunk?

Do you happen to remember what it was you deleted by any chance?

Superspunk? heh.
Cwykes, y'know, I really have no idea what I deleted. There are several thousand downloads in my folder. I just whipped through and deleted the red. I did notice that I got rid of the Urbz game shelf, but I don't think that's what was causing my problem.

Edited: I suspect this photography backdrop http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=98268 to be the culprit, but you have to understand I'm a bit of an idiot, so...

Red means hacks. Doesn't mean any conflicts, just that they are hacks of some kind. Pink means a double of a file. If you want to see a hack conflict, use the hack scanner.

I have a photo studio in my game and I was using that backdrop and camera. Alas, it does cause problems and was nixed!
