Use RestrictBuildBuyInBuildings False and just build and buy outside of your apartment.

152  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 EPs on External Hard Drive? on: 2010 November 01, 00:17:46
For crying out loud...

In Vista/7 on an elevated CMD:
Quote
C:\Users\Patrick>mklink /J X:\SimsFiles "C:\Users\Patrick\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\"
or so.

I wasn't asking again, I was clarifying what I meant.
153  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Please help me figure out how the heck bridgeport manages its weather. on: 2010 November 01, 00:15:26
The world file itself has a few INIs relating to fog, but only fox. I can find nothing that relates to weather as a whole or the sun. There is one file that involves the sun, but it doesn't change it on a weather-by-weather basis, only on an overall level, and it mentions "cycling weather" and lets you change how many hours it takes before the game chooses a new weather type.

I assume each of the fog INIs (there are 5 that give fog information) is supposed to apply to a weather type, but I can't find any weather types anywhere. The expansion doesn't have its own non-packaged ini files like the base game does, either.

I'm sick of the weather in bridgeport, it's always cloudy and foggy. I know *how* to make a package file that replaces the weather, I'm the one who wrote a tutorial on it. But the files I need in order to do so just aren't there. Am I looking in the wrong places?
154  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 31, 23:51:59
The buildings aren't that bad, and they have low detail modes, AND they're not affecting your performance when they aren't visibly being rendered, and the jerkiness is persisting for people no matter where they are on the map or what they are looking at.
155  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 31, 23:03:17
It cleared around 500 for me, and there was a performance improvement, but I still get jerkiness with pretty much no cause. Just ran process monitor and found nothing being loaded excessively, either.
156  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 EPs on External Hard Drive? on: 2010 October 31, 21:14:01
I meant "The game folder, located in mydocuments" not "the mydocuments folder itself". I only used "mydocuments' to clarify I meant the non-install folder.

Someone apparently has completed a mod that adds a "Drink to Kill" option.
158  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Vampires on: 2010 October 31, 19:13:59
I'd also like to see a trait that makes sims obsess about the vampires. Or maybe apply it to, say, eccentric. Just make them autonomously ask for autographs (even for non-celeb vampires) and ask to be turned and stuff.
159  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 EPs on External Hard Drive? on: 2010 October 31, 18:54:19
If you are worried about installing the game on there, you could look at your my documents folder and think about moving that.  Mine is huge so I moved it to my external hd a year ago and it gave me so much space to install stuff.  All my cc is in there and I see no slowdown vs. having both on the same drive.

How did you change the location of the MyDocuments folder and keep it connected to the game? I would like to move it somewhere other than MyDocuments but as far as I know, just moving it makes the game make a new one.
160  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Finding the mesh for the juice box-o-blood on: 2010 October 31, 18:51:39
Doesn't it share the mesh with the regular juice box? Can you change them individually if they share a mesh?
161  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 31, 18:50:49
Mine wasn't jerky, but it slowly started to be. According to people on MTS it's just clutter and is solved with Nraas' Overwatch.

Apparently the game generates a lot of Taxis (Some of which may even just be there for ambiance purposes) and forgets to get rid of them, or gets rid of them but they're still "there", leading to hundreds or THOUSANDS of cars being left invisible in the world.

Someone else suggested it's the wall speakers all being on at once. There's already settings with Nraas' stuff to shut off TVs and stereos, since they aren't actively being used unless you're on the lot, so that may also be a problem.
162  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Vampires on: 2010 October 31, 18:49:24
With that, Read Mind should also have a "motives" option, so you can check to be sure (with a little math on your end) that you will or won't kill whoever you're going to drink from.

Other than that, I like it.
163  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Vampires on: 2010 October 31, 16:00:54
I was under the impression that big cities had 24 hour bars. There are a bunch in Los Angeles, London, New York, Seattle, etc.

Although my 6AM comment was more on a personal playstyle level, my sims may be kicked out at 4, but the other patrons tend to hang out outside after that, mine included.
164  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Bridgeport With Cribs (And Ceilings) on: 2010 October 31, 04:53:40
I would not be surprised if the game wants Bridgeport to spawn adults regularly and have as few kids as possible. I've yet to see a kid who didn't live in a proper house, so maybe the NPC-Door apartments can't even spawn kids.
165  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Bridgeport With Cribs (And Ceilings) on: 2010 October 31, 04:44:36
The ceilings took way longer than the cribs, there's a surprisingly small amount of actual homes in Bridgeport, something you don't really notice until you do something like adding cribs. One of the apartments doesn't even have an actual apartment in it, it only has NPC rooms.
166  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Vampires on: 2010 October 31, 04:34:58
There also needs to be a benefit to the ones from the hospital. Maybe a separate object with different "stats" altogether. Can't you just go to the fridge, get a juice, cancel the action, and add it to your inventory? It's the same thing. And if you immediately refrigerate the ones from the hospital, you get the same effect as just taking one from the fridge.

Is it supposed to be for emergencies? Are sims ever really that far from home that they wouldn't get home in 24 hours to get a juice from the fridge?
167  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Bridgeport With Cribs (And Ceilings) on: 2010 October 31, 04:25:58
This is Bridgeport, but with cribs. There's a crib in the bigger apartment buildings and at least one (sometimes two) in each celebrity home, and one in most of the generic residential homes.

Every single floor of every single lot also has a proper ceiling now instead of the generic default cream color that completely throws off the room. What the hell is the point of putting together a house, a style, and an entire room of matching furniture if you're going to ignore the ceiling? No problem, because I was aggrivated by it enough to go fix it.

Save is at 8:02 AM on the first day. Absolutely nothing was changed or allowed to change but the cribs and ceiling tiles.

If the download isn't there, give it a minute. It'll be uploaded soon.
168  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 30, 21:51:18
Apparently someone is working on getting the high-rises buyable, which is good because they're the only things forcing us to use Bridgeport.

RE: Mixology, I can't figure out how to moonlight at a bar. The mixologist on duty is in the way, clicking the bar only gives me options to talk to them or order a drink...So that's 2 of 3 new careers that are worthless (no gigs given for bands, mixologists can't be mixologists).
169  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Vampires on: 2010 October 30, 20:26:40
It takes ~4 hours of sunlight to get "Too Much Sun", at which point you lose 17 Hunger an hour. With a full bar of 200 hunger, that would take just under 12 hours to die.

12 hours or so of daylight in a day - 4 hours of free time with no "Too Much Sun" moodlet = 8 hours of sunlight during which you can die, at the MOST = complete impossibility of death from sunlight with full hunger.

Even with half your hunger, 8 hours is still only -136 health, meaning a sim with just over a full Thirst bar would still live. You need to be halfway thirsty at the time you get the Too Much Sun moodlet to die from being in the sun for the entire fucking day. That's ridiculous. You pretty much have to TRY to die in the sunlight.

You can easily change the Too Much Sun moodlet to cause more hunger loss (150 per hour seemed to work nicely), but that doesn't fix that it takes 4 hours for it to even show up. It should show up immediately and drop at a rate of, say, 75 thirst per hour.

Stuck at a bar when 6AM rolls around? Have fun hanging out in the lobby all day, lest you die on the way home. Stuff like that.
170  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night on: 2010 October 30, 19:27:00
It's pretty asinine to imply that adding other households to the building would just be "a couple more lines of code". The game is not set up, in any respect, for lots to function as anything but one household locations. Lots themselves are an object. Two families on one lot, as separate, loadable save files would be pretty complicated. It would split that one object into two. It's really unlikely the reason there's only one household per lot is due to laziness.

As apartments are right now, that whole apartment is still "owned" by your sim, but the markers use fancy tricks to make it look like it's a separate area that they're a small part of. The markers are what makes your apartment the only thing you pay for when moving in, the markers are what keeps the rest of it black and invisible, the markers are what makes NPCs move in and out of the doors- it's not as simple as "The lot itself is the apartment", because that's untrue. The whole lot is still the whole lot. And splitting one lot into two is probably a huge deal coding-wise. It goes against how the game is built at a basic level.
171  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Vampires on: 2010 October 30, 17:21:21
"Hunted" is implied to literally only be there so that you can tell there's a vampire in the room.

And I believe "Plasma" was chosen in place of "Blood" because the "meat" of the blood, blood cells, is only found in blood plasma (which is 55% of the blood), and even then 91% of blood plasma is water. So it makes more sense to drink plasma than blood, because you benefit more from it for the same amount of liquid.

So they compensate for the fact that it isn't fresh from a kill by making it plasma instead of whole blood, I guess.

Though the fact that it's stored in the fridge and not microwaved or anything is silly. You'd think they'd prefer it warm. That alone is reason enough for it to give a negative moodlet.
172  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 30, 16:29:36
If you can't get tips, try the subway for a while. The subway tips are, obviously, different, since the sims arent visible or actually even *there* to tip. You get pretty much a constant stream of tips.
173  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Vampires on: 2010 October 30, 06:51:26
I also think that, during the daytime, they should have to be asleep or in a room with no windows, with an accelerated rate of burn otherwise. They will burn outside, but it takes a long time to even START. They're a little overpowered when there's little to no downside to being awake during the day. I also think their motives should be static when sleeping during the day, but not at night.

I remember getting a Sims 2 vampire for the first time and finding it a real challenge to keep them away from windows if they happened to be up in the day. The problem there was that they had no real benefits. Sure, they had no motive decay at night, but that just meant that when they were sleeping during the day, all their motives were going down and they'd have to deal with them anyway. I don't know, it was stupid.

174  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 30, 05:28:42
Late Night and the Patch added hair for babies. Maybe they also added deformations.

Big annoyance, possibly a bug- My band gets absolutely no gigs, ever. They got one when starting out. They are now level 10, and now a full group of 4 instead of 2, and they have never gotten another gig. The only way they make money is tips in the subway (Which are ridiculously excessive). Is there a mod out there that lets you force opportunities? At this point, I'm willing to just force one every few days, because I really missed out on the whole band experience when my only gig was at level 1 and now everyone is maxed out.
175  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night - can't load any neighbourhood on: 2010 October 30, 03:18:29
Awesomemod is not compatible with Late Night. The patch version is technically still in testing, too.
