701  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default Replacement Skins on: 2006 February 04, 17:38:39
I've done some looking around at realistic nude skintones and I still like Allan Akbars the best, they can be found here
http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=905

It's in the adult section so you will need to be registered and have adult access (PM Kathy for it)

Something I keep forgetting, which is funny since I requested it in the first place, is SimPE has made it extremely easy to make any skintone a default skintone (replacing the skintone of your choice) including Alien, Zombie and Vampire

scan folder/pick custom skintone/select it and then go down to the bottom, one of the tabs has the spot where you can choose which skintone to have it replace, select which one, a window will popup for you to give it a name, save and within moments (depending on your computer) you will have a new default skintone  Grin

I took one of my tattooed skins (based on Allan Akbars) and made it my new alien default, worked great! but a few mins later when I was going thru my "pre-Uni" folder (boy am I glad I didn't just delete it) I happened to come across all my copys of Allan Akbars skintones and stuff (from his site when he still had it) including his very dark african one (which was the base for the tattooed skin I had just made into a default alien) so I decided to make that one my default alien skintone for now (while I decide if I want to do a special tattooed one)

I think after I get some sleep I will be updating my memory on his skintones, I used to love his ones with tanlines so I may make one of them a default  Grin

Excellent - thanks.  Would you mind if I posted this on another newsgroup?

I didn't say dog's I said complete.

maxon, you wrote complete bollocks.
We all saw you do it.  Don't try to wriggle out of it now  Wink

My dog doesn't have complete bollocks - what are you saying?

Is this physically possible?
704  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: But it seemed like such a good idea at the time! on: 2006 February 03, 10:58:44
What would actually happen if stuff was removed from the catalog that was in use in lots? Would they revert back to the original (or in the case of new meshes-what they were based on)
I have a bunch of recolours/new meshed stuff that I am going to try to get rid of-but because of my kids, I don't know if they are in use. I'm not going to go through their neighbourhoods, my youngest daughter has about 30 occupied lots! Shocked I'm too darned lazy...

Yes, basically - though the adult females always seem to default to that horrid burgundy shirt/tan trousers combo when you delete skins.  I removed Numenor's windows last week for some reason or other - oh to speed up loading because I wanted to look at something quickly - and when I went into a lot where I'd used them, they'd been replaced by the shop windows.  I exited without saving, put the windows back and they were there again when I went back.

No no no no, no.
When will people get this?
It's the "Dogs Bollocks", or the "Cats Whiskers".
Not the Kittens Bollocks.

I didn't say dog's I said complete.
706  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: University! At last! on: 2006 February 03, 10:42:58
That's why I just put in Inteen. Now they can have the babies at Uni - works for me.

I still think Maxis did a poor job (and it wasn't a great idea to start with). Uni removes a bunch of the things one can do with their sims (and there isn't enough to start with - the standard daily life of sims gets boring and one hasta do things to make it fun again) and didn't add near enough to take their place (not objects, interactions and scenarios). If it's supposed to be the "party" side of college, why are there no games or sports or clubs and the like? There's so few of the things kids do with their time. It also lacks student politics and the greek houses are... minimal. No real rush and no dances etc. One is stuck "out-of-world" - which I think is just plain a Bad Idea<tm> anyways.

Not being able to have grad students and profs that live on campus (and don't leave) or adult students return etc. also really limits roleplay. But Inteen is taking care of that Smiley and with NL the social aspects at least improved, so it's rather fun now. The way Maxis intended it tho - bleh.

Yeah I agree - I would really like grad students and mature students - being both myself I suppose.  And things like clubs and politics would have been great - there's a mod in the making maybe?  As an idea, it has lots of potential but I think you're right, Maxis did fudge it somewhat.  I too use Inteenimator but the only pregnancy I had there was when I forgot to switch on the birth control (how real is that?).  Oops.  Anyway, it worked fine and mother and baby are back in the main neighbourhood and have now (had to) move in with his parents till he graduates.
707  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Idiot Teen Refusing to Go To School on: 2006 February 02, 15:13:18
Everytime somebody installs the Inteenimator, God kills a kitten. How does it feel to know you just caused the death of an innocent kitten, you murderer?

Think of the poor kittens!

Complete bollocks - go on rip me

pfft
708  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: University! At last! on: 2006 February 02, 15:04:01
Eh, well, some people get a major kick out of uni. But eventually, the novelty wears off.

Like in real life, maybe it was fun the first time, but eventually it becomes quite the drag. Just ask yourself if you were as excited about it senior year as you were as a freshman.

Speak for yourself - some of us are still there.

OOOHHHH, a census! What fun! I can't wait to go home and try it out!! Sigh, another night of not grading homework for me.

oooo - Snap - I'm not grading a pile an inch thick.
711  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Idiot Teen Refusing to Go To School on: 2006 February 02, 01:35:40
Yes, thanks Sagana.  I just thought of that and came back to say so to find you'd all been talking about it.  I've been having a clear out recently and I have problems with nervous twitching (it's a neurological thing) - it's not at all unlikely that I grabbed the file while looking at the Inteen folder and moved it by accident.  I installed Inteen a really long time ago and although I did read the documentation then, I can't remember even a quarter of what it said (memory problems are also neurological thing!!).  I'll either have to try and find out where I moved the file to or dig out the original zipped download and reinstall it.  I love inteen - it's a cracking hack.

Yup - I've just checked the original Inteen documentation and looked in my folders and indeed the noadultteens pack is missing.  So I've put it back and problem solved.  I knew if I asked here someone would be able to point me in the right direction.  Thanks everyone for your help.
712  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Idiot Teen Refusing to Go To School on: 2006 February 02, 01:04:53
Could you maybe have removed or moved the flavor pack that makes them act just like Maxis teens? The flavor packs need to be in the same folder with inteen to work properly - maybe it just got moved out or something, or deleted by accident?

713  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Idiot Teen Refusing to Go To School on: 2006 February 02, 00:15:57
Yep - read the Inteen documentation. At the late teen stage, they can skip school. If you don't like this and want them to continue going to school, there is a flavor pack you can install.

That's odd - I installed Inteen absolutely ages ago and only noticed this effect in the last week.  I've been having teenagers go to school right up until they left for college until now.

Thanks for all replies.  You're probably right but how it came about I don't know.  Blast.
714  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Idiot Teen Refusing to Go To School on: 2006 February 02, 00:00:52
OK here's the problem:

I had a teenager who stopped having the option to go to school (public).  When the bus came (for her younger brother - a child), she didn't get prompted to get on it and when I selected her a tried to click on it, I got the 'no actions possible' message.  I thought she was just bugged and as it was a Thursday and she was due to go to college at the weekend, she just stayed home for a couple of days and then went off.  Her A+ rating didn't drop.

That was fine.  As I said, I thought it was just a bug for that sim.  BUT I then went on to play another household with three teenagers and the problem repeated itself but with only one teenager - the oldest.  The other two went off to school just fine.  I have been trying to work out why.

I checked with SimPE (again because I did that with the girl too) and yes, he is coded as a teenager - he's shown as a teenager in game and has all the normal teenage options and information, wants and all the rest - he has an A+ rating for his (private) school and a teen-elder job.

I wondered whether it might be a hack or a conflict between hacks.  I admit I have several hacks in my game - well, alright quite a lot of hacks (though I bet not as many as some of you).  Or is this a known bug that in all my avid reading I have simply not come across?  I pulled out all the most recent hacks I had installed but it made no difference.  I have been all over this site (and others) to see if there is anything I missed in the hack descriptions but I can't see anything that is related (except maybe Inteenimator conflicting with something?  If a female sim becomes pregnant, her schooling is suspended till the baby comes).  I did think about Inge Jones' school hacks, which can affect the school bus, but haven't yet installed them in my game.

I have made some progress though.  Noting that this teenager was the oldest of three (he had 7 days to go till he aged - I normally run my teenagers for their full time) - and that it was just before she went to college that I noticed the other teenager stopped school, I changed his age with SimPE making him a day younger.  Bingo - off he went.  So it's something related to age.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?  Or have I missed something?  It was a lot of effort getting him in to private school and, as far as I'm concerned, he's damn well going to go.  Thanks for any help.
715  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Crumplebottom Fix on: 2006 February 01, 22:56:22
I agree Mrs C is cool but is there any way to let your sims have interactions with her - like pranks or pokes?  Those are often the only options I get when I click on her but the instruction falls out of the queue.
716  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Taking a census on: 2006 January 31, 00:05:07
So I take it nobody is interested in quickie in-game census reports, then?

I would love in game census reports.
717  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Harder finances hack? on: 2006 January 30, 23:49:48
There's a banking computer by Monique over at MTS2 that lets you get mortgages for your sims (adds to the bills), the sims can invest money and donate to charity.  Combined with JMP's no 20KHandout hack - I find I can keep the sim poorer for longer.
718  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: But it seemed like such a good idea at the time! on: 2006 January 29, 14:46:38
Why do we do this to ourselves?  Why is it we end up downloading so much stuff that our games will barely chug along, then have to get rid of 90% of it to play?  AARRGGHHH!!!  I've been at this for something like five hours now, and there's no use saying a word here at home because no one would understand.

And does anyone besides me have something like 40 different bathroom sets, but never in the right price range?  Like the cheap sink, expensive toilet, expensive shower match, but there's no cheap toilet or cheap sink or even a tub, and there's no expensive sink for later upgrades.

I really thought at first it was going to be so much easier keeping track of objects with the way they're set up in TS2.  I've found it's a lot harder for me.  In TS1 I could find everything I was seeking at a glance.  In TS2 I have to dig and dig and dig to find the matching objects and even making categories don't always work because it would take something like 100 of them in order to get things right.

Here's an irritatingly smug suggestion.  I test anything I put in the game without all my other Downloads in.  If I DL a set of something (and like a lot of people I don't DL much nowadays), I make a collection of the set while I'm testing it.  That way I can find the parts of the set easily when I want them again.
719  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife and Twins on: 2006 January 29, 14:42:02
Oooohhhh! Can i have them, please?Huh? Grin I would treat them real nice in my game!:D Grin

oooh - I've only just read this thread.  If you still have them Issy, can I have them too?
720  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis Message on: 2006 January 17, 13:07:51
The message you got was one of a set a player gets when the last sim on the lot dies. Not all of them are that hostile; that one seems to be directed towards the players who kill their sims on purpose, but since they come up in a random order, it doesn't differentiate between whether they died of old age or malicious intent.

Whaaaaaaat?  Damn - I didn't get anything like that when I killed the 8 Jack Thompsons.

I want to be admonished.
721  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Zombies on: 2006 January 15, 21:37:08
Question: so can zombies die again?

Yes, but not from old age, since they don't age.

And then you can ressurect them again - if you pay enough they will come back as normal sim beings.

My one and only zombie is called Jack Thompson.
722  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Major imbalance of boys vs girls being born on: 2006 January 15, 17:05:59
I've thought about the baby gender problem for a while, and I've come up with two different ideas, both of which are unappealing.

2. Twins Effect: Make every birth a twins birth and discard the unwanted gender.  Rather draconian and leads to BFBVFS.

Does this assume that all twins births are fraternal twins of different genders?  I have only ever had one set of brother and sister twins.  I've not had many twins (I don't use a hack) but of the six I have had (and can remember) all except that one were boy-boy or girl-girl.  Three of these pairs were identical.  I know they aren't identical in game terms but I have to dress them differently to tell them apart.
723  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Squiggly Lines of Doom!! on: 2006 January 15, 16:46:37
Thanks for everyone's advice about the tokens and other stuff in sim memories.  I just thought I'd pop back and mention one real oddity with this though.  I've just started a new sim in my neighbourhood called Bob Newbury (yes, that one).  I made him a janitor of a block of flats.  I've literally played him for three sim days and that's not long to get a lot of memories.  He has one token in there with this description:

Token - Misc Skill (owned by Therapist)

I really can't think what that is about.  He hasn't bottomed out with his aspiration (yet) BTW.  In fact, he's been quite happy and pretty social too (he's just met Betty).
724  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Squiggly Lines of Doom!! on: 2006 January 13, 19:47:44
Can I ask something(s) here while we're on the subject of the contents of the neighbourhood memory?

I have been deleting memories that don't belong to anyone - I figured that if no-one is owning up to them, they can't be that important.  And then I have also been deleting memories without a subject for a similar reason - can't be that memorable.  And then there are those memories that belong to the sim I am looking at but are an invisible copy of a memory they already have - I'm assuming they have had that passed back to them by some other sim.

But what about all those tokens for 'foods cooked well' and 'foods eaten'.  Can I get rid of those?  And also various other oddities.  I get the pregnancy modifier token now and the attraction markers and the furious and furious reverse stuff, but what about the Tokens for Misc Skills and why do they all seem to have the Gastronomique Podium Marker in the memories - sometimes more than once?  And what's the personal wealth one for?  Sorry - I probably shouldn't ask in someone else's thread but my fingers are itching to delete some of this.  Please tell me I can.
725  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does anyone know if this is a bug, feature or hack conflict? on: 2006 January 03, 02:30:40
I think this is an unintended feature.  I have not noticed this on Community lots, but I have heard of it being available on Secret Society Lots.

Yes if you put a phone on a community lot (not a pay phone AFAIK), the option is available.
