101  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I'm going to admit it: I have no idea how to do this... on: 2006 January 11, 09:09:10
That is exactly like the University short messy hair, is it not?  I can see no difference in the mesh, Emma. Wait... the sides are a bit longer, aren't they?

Although, they have some really cute hair there... so Thanks for the link! Cheesy

Yeah, Charliene, I tryed the 10/19 version.  It didn't crash, but it didn't really work right for me either.  I guess it was too simple for me to figure out?  Anyhow I think datgen is a cool tool for those folks who are scared by all the numbers in simPE.

I believe the mesh is hidden somewhere inside one of the sims##.packages found at Program Files/EAGames/Sims2/TSData/Res/Sims3D....  However, I have no idea which one it is hidden in or even if it can have different colors assigned to it.

Plus, once you find it you'll have to make a package file for it, I think... But maybe not...  As it's a mesh already in the game, you might just be able to assign the shape data to the recolor file.  Would you like me to see if I can find it?

I believe the file you want is scattered among several package files under the name "AFhairFried" and carries the instance number 0xff5c60d0.

I'm currently looking for the texture file that goes with this mesh to check that it is infact the mesh you are looking for.

Well, Here's what I've found:
there's a set of raw extracted files, and the textures... How to get these working as a hair, I couldn't tell you.  If you want to try please do so. Bugger...  it's too big, well if you want it drop me an email.

Numenor's stairs just override the maxis stairs of the same type, recolors are accessed using the design tool.
Brasstex's modular stairs are new meshes and need the special text file edit.

The stair rails are recolored as part of the stair.  If the maker of the new color didn't alter that section of the graphic then you would indeed still have black rails.  Have you tryed my "trashed" metal stair recolors?  The rails are all shades of rusted.

The metal and rail match and you can do the glass as a contrasting color.  The oinly rail that is black is the one with the black step.

Well, datagen sounds nifty... but I cannot get the tool to run correctly for me.  I'm just destined to be a simPE user.
The main problems with using datagen is that the elder hair ends up having 4 of each style, unless you go back in with simpe and delete the extra ones from three colors.
107  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any one have problems placing lots? on: 2006 January 08, 18:14:18
I found that often if I moved a lot after I placed a family into it I could get the lots right next to each other where I had gaps before.

I'm sorry about the mix up in my linked post.
The numbers used for face hair and head hair are reversed for Blond and Red. I must have put the info for the face hair down there.  It's been corrected now.  Again, I'm very sorry about the misinformation there.

Best thing to do is sort into correct color folders, load that folder and the meshes, delete what you find flaws with, and catagorize what you have left.
But that's just my opnion...
109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help please with frickin downloads on: 2006 January 05, 18:10:52
In general, it seems that the net has been slow over the last few days.  I've had problems with megaupload too (the 2nd versoin of Byrnne's sim was a royal pain to download).  I usually wait and try at off peak hours (after 10pm).

Oh, yeah!... now I can make sim me short like she should be!  LOL

I wondered if it was possible, and I do remember seeing the location in the sim files.
111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How Do I Make Better Quality Snapshots? on: 2006 January 03, 18:07:38
I use the PrtScn button and the following program: YAFScreen.

You can download it here: http://www.marian-aldenhoevel.de/YAFSScreen/

It's a free program that saves images into a folder of your choice in a format of your choice.
I don't know how I ever managed without it.

Ah, yes... you wanted a crappy, rusted, trashed recolor?  How is this?
Yes, this roll of TP has been hiding under the trailer in an old cardboard box... And it's the last roll on the lot!  So into the old rusty holder it goes.  eeww... wonder how many dogs peed on that box?

You have a sink?
I remember having this same problem... And I'm trying to remember why.  It was something really stupid.  Like needing a floor, or a sink.  I just cannot remember at the moment what it was...
115  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Everybody probably knows this, but I didn't *feels dumb* on: 2005 December 31, 17:07:15
Sadly, no....
116  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Everybody probably knows this, but I didn't *feels dumb* on: 2005 December 31, 16:19:40
you know for me it's the "realism" thing of it.  I know it taxes the system, but my sims love looking out the windows, and with the option off it looks to me like they are staring at nothing.  So, I keep it on.

 Grin
Thank you for sharing those!

Ah, so the bar can be colored...  Okay I'll do a "trashy" rusted bar....
118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can anyone identify this hack? on: 2005 December 30, 00:48:18
Ah okay. cool.
119  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can anyone identify this hack? on: 2005 December 29, 23:31:46
That creates a dome over the lot that shows in the neighborhood screen also.  It's a cool idea but my game didn't like it.  Plus it doesn't work with the EP's I believe.

Totally up tp you, Oh Awesome One...

But looking at altering the liquid it seems that a clone is infact the only way to do it.  I can (and have) cloned the elxir and managed to change the color, but I lose the original option in the process.  The base however can be recolored...
121  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Lot Sync Timer: All BlueSoups Suck Edition on: 2005 December 29, 00:37:07
I actually think it's a cool idea.  I know (after looking it up) how to change the color of the liquid inside the thing. I just don't know if I added the second Material Defination to the package correctly.   So the big thing is: How is this linked to the original item and is the original item color enabled?
122  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Lot Sync Timer: All BlueSoups Suck Edition on: 2005 December 28, 21:26:55
I was wondering though, if someone could possibly make a recolour of it and turn the green liquid to clear, so as to more simulate a bottled water setup, then I can place it in the kitchen.

Any takers?

I took a look at this item.  The hack references the model in the game. I cannot create a recolor package for it alone because it has no Material Defination files to alter.  I made a recolor of the aspiration reward instead but this item comes up as "non-designable"  I will test to see if my recolor works at all as SimPE only pulls the reference to the outside of the object, not the liquid.  *sigh*...

My God!  I was wondering when someone would fix that.  Thank you sooo much.
I'll test this and make sure it plays nicely with my other hacks.

On the DVD player:  Have you checked the cables?  (most likely you have, but then again...)
125  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Glitches driving me buggy on: 2005 December 26, 23:24:49
IgnorantBliss, you are likely right.  My drivers are old.  71.(something).  I intend to keep them there as I've had no problems with them.
