126  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Loading Game Stallout - help please on: 2010 July 21, 17:07:33
So, thank you for the info.  I can do some troubleshooting with that.

That should have been what you did first prior to posting.

Nothing I mentioned was any big revelation. A patch may break stuff. Check for updates. Also if you are going to post on the Awesomemod forum suggesting that Awesomemod is a problem for you, have some empirical data to backup your claim. Are you getting a problem with only Awesomemod running and not other custom content that you don't get when you take Awesomemod out? Don't know? Try it.

Oh yes and let's not forget search is your friend and since your question may have (it was) asked before you can possibly alleviate the need to post by doing a search first.

re: Rant of righteous indignation to deflect blame for your own laziness and Speshul Snowflake behavior that somehow warranted a new thread.

 Roll Eyes

My game worked before I went on holiday last week, and when I came back from holiday all I did was download the new version of Awesomemod and suddenly it sits on the loading screen.

And before you ask, yes I do have the most recent versions of all other mods I use, and yes I have checked that those mods are compatible with the current EPs/SPs I have installed and with each other/Awesomemod.  I have only updated Awesomemod, and now my game sits on the loading screen.  Take Awesomemod out, and it doesn't do that.  Pretty sure that indicates that the loading screen thing - for me, at least - is a problem with Awesomemod.

Did you patch to 1.14/2.9/3.5/4.2? This was the patch released on July 7th.
127  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: New Tool for TS3: S3CE on: 2010 July 21, 03:06:06
I should've been more clear, that's not what I meant. All houses I have downloaded always only have one package because I only download no cc houses, what I meant though, the lot names in game are often missing. So when you go in game and look at the houses bin, some of them don't have any name, like  "Das Winzig Haus" or "Hagrid's Hut". Some lots I have extracted retained their in game names but the others are nameless. Hope that makes sense.

That happens to me even when I install lots in sims3packs with the launcher. I don't think the package extractor is doing that.
128  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Loading Game Stallout - help please on: 2010 July 20, 19:14:29
Been talked about many times. It's not Awesomemod and patching is not a mistake. It's one of your other mods and/or pieces of custom content. Check your other mods first for updated versions. Many of Twallan's mods have been updated for the patch and in particular the old non-updated version of his computer causes this very issue so if you have it, go get the new version.

Somehow Awesomemod gets blamed every time there is a new patch and every other Tom, Dick and Harry's mods or content need to be updated. I don't understand this. I also don't understand why people don't go looking for updates to all their mods when they patch and why they don't use a process of elimination to actually, you know, check if Awesomemod is really causing a problem before posting on the Awesomemod forum. It's not like it's hard to yank everything else out and try testing the game with only Awesomemod.

I guess most people would rather post without searching and have someone else give them the answer.  Roll Eyes
129  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: New Tool for TS3: S3CE on: 2010 July 20, 18:42:54
I'd consider using this if you add a feature to automatically rename package files like Delphy's. His tool works fine actually, but sometimes extracted houses (I like to extract them and put the resulting package files in Library folder) don't have any lot name. No idea why only some lots are affected though.

It says right in the thread where you download the muti extractor:

http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=364038
Quote from: Delphy
Added back in Clean Names, but with disclaimer - it only works on Sims 3 Packs with one package in them

Basically what that feature does is that if there is only one package file in the sims3pack it will name the extracted package with the same name as the original sims3pack BUT if there are multiple packages inside (furniture, creepy TSR dolls, other random crap the uploader either intended to pack with it or just didn't clean their file) then it can't rename them all the same name so it just leaves the original hashed up name the game gave those packages.

If you want the file to be autorenamed every time with the multi extractor then clean it with Delphy's CUSTARD tool first, yanking out all the extraneous stuff that isn't a lot file, save it, and then extract it, or just don't get lots from people who pack up everything but the kitchen sink with their damned lots.

You don't get what? Life? In which case I'm afraid you'll need more help than anyone here can provide.

There is a definite lack of LULZ worthy Pudding story blogs. Almost all the others are Legacy shit which makes me want to yawn, gag or both.
133  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 17, 21:07:01
In theory custom content shouldn't be causing the mismatched core version error, but I have seen custom content do things it shouldn't before.

Still, double check that you have the latest Awesomemod (a new version was just uploaded so just re-download it anyway) and that your game is patched up to the latest patch.

If you do that and everything is current then check to see if there aren't stray old files lurking in Programs Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods and its subdirectories. Actually, you can just delete the Mods directory under Programs Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 since the new way has it moved to My Documents now.

If you do all that and then test by yanking Awesomemod and all other mods out and are still getting the error then it has to be custom content somewhere.
134  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Why am I still getting the Update warning? on: 2010 July 17, 17:36:16
You tards needed to start a new thread for this? Pescado just said that it's normal and it's just an about to expire message and he just now updated the mod so re-download it.

As for getting constant messages while inside the game I don't know what the hell that is all about but it's not your regular awesomemod is about to expire message that's for sure. Your neighborhood might be about to blow up in a BFVFS. Good luck.
135  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 17, 15:53:35
I swear you guys make my head hurt.

Delete any stray resource.cfg files you may have in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/ and any of it's subfolders. Basically do a recursive search if you know what that is.

Then get this and run it. It will setup your game with the proper directory locations and the correct resource.cfg in the correct place. Additionally, the Custom Launcher from granthes will also check for the correct framework setup and install it if necessary.

Now if you get a message about an incorrect version or a core mismatch it does not mean you should go moving your resource.cfg around. Tongue If you get that message your resource.cfg is fine. It means you either need to patch your games or you need to get updated versions of mods you are using (Awesomemod, Twallan's etc) to work with your updated version of the game.

If you don't know if you are patched or not and would rather not mess with the craptastic EA launcher get this patch downloader utility from Mod the Sims. It automatically finds the correct patches for your version and region of the game and its expansions and then prompts you to download and install them. It's basically idiot proof.

Also be aware any time there is a patch that you will need to patch if you want to continue using Awesomemod. You will also need to update Awesomemod and really should be doing so on a fairly regular basis since it gets updated a lot.

Be aware that many of Twallan's mods have been updated for the patch and that those updates, like the one for Awesomemod, are not optional if you want the game to continue functioning correctly with those mods.

And lastly, it bears repeating that custom content can cause problems too even if it hasn't in the past. Don't always point the finger at mods. Yes your 120 slight variations on the same emo hairstyle from Peggy, Rose and Raon can potentially fuck up your game if EA patches something and it leaves them with old references.
136  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 July 17, 15:32:55
I think there are ten new Dr. Pepper items in total. The gown, two shirts, the hair, a theatre chair, popcorn, two trophies, two wall hanging things.

There's 3 wall hangings actually. The Golden Record, the Prized Jersey and the Starlet's Autograph, so there's 11 items total that are new for July.

So far they've all been posted except for the male and female versions of the shirt. pkmx and Drakron posted 7 of the items above and then I posted the dress and the hair.

I'm kind of meh on the shirt so I used my last two codes on the hair and dress instead, but if no one gets around to posting the shirts I will see if I can grab a couple more Dr. Pepper's with codes eventually.

BTW, Claeric, I'm enjoying your very cool picture set (Persona4Paintings_Claeric) -- genuine thanks.

I went to look this up, but was disappointed to find it was of paintings of the game Persona 4 made by Claeric.

I was expecting 4 paintings inspired by Claerics persona, of voles in various shouty poses.
138  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Ambitions Shelf - Homage to MATY or Declaration of War? on: 2010 July 16, 16:55:49
2) the complete lack of parallel structure between the concept of a "modest" shelf and one that is awesome -- I still can't figure out the point they are trying to make; and

It's EA. Their logic is unfathomable. I'm still trying to figure out how seeing a 'familiar' person or couple in the past results in a sometimes gender swapped parthenogenic clone of yourself returning back with you to the present.

So far even using quantum mechanics I am unable to come up with a logical explanation.
139  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 16, 16:13:49
I installed the new patch and now I can't even play the game. It opens fine, goes to map view, but when I pick a family to play the "play this family" button greys out. I tried it with almost all of my households and I couldn't open even a single one of them.

Folks at thesims3.com said it could be Awesomemod. I don't know... What should I do?

Okay let's see. In a situation where one wants to figure out if a particular mod is causing a problem is it better to:

A) Use the process of elimination by simply removing the mod temporarily and testing if you still have the problem.
B) Listen to rumors from some random ill informed yahoos on the Exchange.

Gee I don't know.  Roll Eyes

In all seriousness, if you don't know the problem is Awesomemod, and it's pathetically easy to make that determination (see A above), then you really shouldn't be wasting your time and that of everyone else here.

Did you update awesomemod to go with the new patch, or did you assume it would somehow evolve on its own?

*GASP* You mean it doesn't? *

* Actually, I use the autoupdater so mine sort of does. Wink

Could anybody upload just the dresses from the romanza wedding set?

You already asked this. If no one responds that means no.

It's not exactly the easiest thing in the world to separate out parts of files that are all shoved together in one big package and make sure you have all the proper parts and references for only certain specific items while being sure you omit the rest. There's little motivation for someone to go to all this trouble for something that they don't need and would only be of interest to one person who can't figure her problems out.

Quote
My computer can't handle adding the build/buy items in a .package file

This makes no sense. There is no factual basis for this. You just think it is so and have convinced yourself of it like a superstition. I checked through you posts and apparently you have a tendency to do this, like the time a year ago when you were absolutely convinced that you could only install sims3packs when you took the completely unrelated mods folder out.

Quote
and I cannot get the files to install via the launcher

That is because you need to decrapify them. Or buy it from EA with Simpoints. Your choice. And no I won't tell you where/how to decrapify them. It's been mentioned umpteenth times. Do a search.

Quote
(and I've given up trying to fix the problem, search has yielded no results whatsoever).

Sounds like a personal problem to me.
142  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stupid Sims 3 patch on: 2010 July 15, 23:58:18
Is there a way that I can patch without getting altered my sims and houses with CC (from the Store, obviously)? I made a stupid mistake and I'll have to uninstall WA, then AMB and then the patch... will I lose my CC? How can I evite it? Backing up before uninstalling and then replacing after installing will help?

I am going to be blunt and say from reading your other posts, your lack of ability to find such information which already exists here and elsewhere coupled with the kind of in depth, For Dummies, simplistic yet detailed hand holding help you seem to require you are probably better suited going elsewhere like Mod the Sims.

Start here: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall

That's the Uninstall section. Read through the part about backing up your files and how to restore them later when you reinstall, then read through the clean uninstall process, then pick the version you will be running (ie which expansions and patch) and read through 'after the uninstall I want to reinstall with expansion packs' section and then finally the installing package files section and subsections.

Yes it's a lot of information so take the time to read through it and clearly understand it. Then make sure you follow all their instructions.

And if you have questions ask someone at Mod the Sims. Tongue They have to be nice to you. Niceness is enforced there even for those who need, shall we say, extra help.
143  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: no cc shown in game on: 2010 July 15, 23:42:56
The launcher has nothing to do with package files whatsoever. Nothing you do with it will make any difference for packages.

If you have sims3packs of store items that aren't showing they probably need to be decrapified. For all other non Sims 3 store sims3pack files corrupt or missing dbc files may be the cause of those items disappearing, in which case reinstalling will help.

Since the OP mentioned custom content disappearing immediately following her moving those files over to the My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/ her problems are completely unrelated to the launcher and in all likelihood an incorrect or improperly located resource.cfg is the culprit.
144  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Ambitions Shelf - Homage to MATY or Declaration of War? on: 2010 July 15, 22:59:54
You're such a monumental twat. Los Pescados, More Romantic Than You, Speshul Snowflake and now a shelf with reference to someone thinking they're "awesome". That's a lot of coincidences - too many. It's a perfectly valid theory to suggest they use references. Maybe if you take your cock out of EA's ass for longer than five minutes you'd be able to think a bit more clearly.

Personally, I've always thought of Claeric as more of a bottom.
145  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions and SURPRISE! - CTDs on: 2010 July 15, 20:50:50
Hi, dears! I recently patched my game and merged my stuffs, but not Awesome, my hacks (Rainbow Brite, Anach and Chaavik hacks)  and the default things. When I'm at the shopping mode my game is crashing - it freezes and nothing makes it works again. I pressed the windows key, the Esc key, prayed for mercy and even did some killing threats, but nada. Anybody has this problem? Sorry if this isn't the right thread, but my problems began after the patch, oh gosh, I hate patches! Thanks in advance.

If it's happening in buy mode it's most likely a bad custom content item that no longer works with Ambitions.

If you truly have zero custom content and only Awesomemod and those few hacks then go back to those sources, check on their compatibility with Ambitions and re-download the newest versions.
146  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 July 15, 20:41:03
nice pic but that does not help me at all  Roll Eyes

I did help you in your other thread about your custom content not showing up which was also another case of you asking for information that was readily available because you are too lazy to search.

Packages do work. You just installed them wrong. You should address that first before attempting to add further items to your game.

Additionally, a method to bypass the checks on the store files and get the launcher to install them does exist. If you had searched and/or read these threads more you would have already known this.

Has anyone been able to get the FREE special set: 2011 Ford Fiesta & Fiesta Urban Streetscape. It was advertised on Simprograms.

You mean like this very post on the page before yours

Again with the laziness. If you had bothered to check you would have seen it and not needed to ask.

See here

Most likely your resource.cfg is wrong or in the wrong place. It should be in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/. If it's there and you are SURE it's the new one and there are no copies of the old one lurking around read through that thread and/or head over to Mod The Sims help section. I have links to it in the thread I linked above.

holy crap, could that live nation stuff be done any lazier? Square photo plastered on a shirt?

Not only that but it's not in Simlish script or pictures of Sims dressed up like those artists, it's just a direct copy and past of some real world poster.

I don't download user made custom content that uses real world pictures and contains English text so I won't be downloading this either.

Really, it looks like the most amateurish custom content in the community. It boggles my mind they think people will want to use their sim points for this.
