26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: No money for you! Higher bills in three flavours! on: 2009 June 28, 00:20:12
Are you saying that since I have some gay Sims in my game now the entire neighborhood is bisexual?  Or are you saying once the entire gay population grows to 10% then everyone becomes bisexual?

I think it means that once you do six player-driven same-sex lovin' actions, your entire hood becomes bisexual.  Since there's no attraction or sexual preference stat, it'll just be first-love, first-serve, I'd guess.
27  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: No money for you! Higher bills in three flavours! on: 2009 June 27, 16:03:01
Hm, interesting and stupid.  I'll axe that, then.

I'm using the 10% bills in my game just to see how it is and it's rather difficult, bills for a fambly just starting out have been around $500, which means they'd be paying somewhere around $60 before.  They've still managed to get a bit of a monetary padding, so I don't know as that it makes them game impossible, just a bit more difficult.

You could use the 10% one and pretend that you're living in the evil clutches of a country that has socialised medicine, or something.
28  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / No money for you! Higher bills in seven exciting flavours! on: 2009 June 27, 07:04:56
I don't think this has already been done yet, my haphazard perusal of current pudding factory topics did not indicate anything about taxes, but I am totally open to being redundant and useless.

Current household wealth billed twice weekly is 1.3%  This will not do!

This mod comes in seven flavours, twice-weekly bills of 2.6% (2xbills), twice-weekly bills of 5% (5%bills), and twice-weekly bills of 10% (10%bills).  I have made the lump sum variety mod which comes in four exciting flavours - values are double what they would have been otherwise, so "regular" is a single bill each Friday of 2.6%, double is 5.2%, quadbills are 10%, octobills are 20%.

You cannot haz lumps and regular bills in the same folder.  Choose carefully, for you hold your very lives in your hands.  Either die in the vacuum of space, or... choose the variety of billing you'd like the most.  For those who just wanted considerably higher bills without sad times and poverty, I'd recommend using the 5% biweekly/10% Friday bills.

I'm also uploading my mod to increase the chances of homosexual couples and single parents arriving on the "move in" story mode event.

These, as always, go into the ..\Mods\Packages folder.  They shouldn't conflict with Awesomeware, but if they do, Awesome > not Awesome.
29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Tuning mods - in testing on: 2009 June 21, 21:04:50
I was just wondering, could you make this one with another flavor? Perhaps a 10 day instead of 2.

Just wondering, thanks.

I hope it's not too forward of me, but I went ahead and modded it myself.
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Socialsed Energy! Some beds are more equal than others! on: 2009 June 21, 16:45:00
Gawrsh, it's been practically a year since I've posted here.

I've updated this mod. I found that it didn't work too well with Ambitions as-is, and slow-sleep tents and beds really ruined my shit.

Install to wherever you use. Same energy deltas as before (1.5). Compatible with HELS, WA, AMB, and storeshit beds. Can't get any storeshit beds to work on my second installation of the game, so I'm only assuming that what was true a year ago will still be true now.

For anyone that used my billing mod (lump-sum payments and increases), that still works without any changes.
31  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Things you DO like... on: 2009 June 21, 15:54:53
Pudding-looks (when they are less incredibly pudding), the fact that trees and bushes sway in the breeze, the somewhat improved lighting, the way better skybox, and the prettier water.  I guess opportunities are nice too, as are some of the skill challenges.

I do not like how effortless it is to get promoted in some professions, if you lack the raw skill in your current field as a surgeon you should not become an even more complicated surgeon.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Traits Cheat Sheet - Work in Progress on: 2009 June 20, 19:29:31
I never want to see a "blog about..." Wish again.

Jesus Jones, fo' serious.  I did not realise the folly of installing a "hobby enthusiasm doesn't decay" hack until one sim had nothing but blogging wishes.  Chained.  Did you blog about one of your six hobbies?  Great, you want to blog about it again!  Did you blog about everything, are your fingers a little sore?  Okay, take a break, you want to eat hamburgers.

Did you eat the hamburgers?  Now you want to blog!  Blogs are the meat of the internet, like hamburgers are the meat of the world.
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Novels - A Guide on: 2009 June 20, 19:26:48
It may grant the wish, but it doesn't up your permanent stat, just checked.  Under your writing skill tab you will see the stat for the amount of "unique" books you have read.  The good news is that every unique book read makes your reading that much fast for the next one.

Wait, so reading moar unique books makes you read faster?  Does this apply to reading skill books too?  Do we have any inkling as to what rate it increasificates at?
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Story Mode: A Random @Toading: Congratulations to Draklixa! on: 2009 June 20, 18:31:22
(GetJob-related banter)

Moar "came with the box" puddings need to have jobs, and I don't want to have to manually attach them.  That is what TS3's shoddy programming was supposed to do.

I wouldn't care so much if they were randomly assigned automatically (I'm guessing unplayed puddings are too stupid to do things like write novels or paint for a living), as long as care was paid to any puddings with a lifetime wish of Being an Astromat, Massive Corporate Whore, or 5-Stair Chief.

Though, if the option were available, puddings given to writing or painting (Artistic/Bookworm traits?) doing their thing for a living would be nice.

Addendum: oh right, and could promotions actually ever happen?  My sims can get promoted in their sleep.  Why the hell can't puddings do the same?
35  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Novels - A Guide on: 2009 June 20, 18:25:30
Three tests are hardly conclusive.  I thought I read in one of the XML's that the library gave some percent increase in the chance of hits and best sellers, so I searched through all the GameplayData.package XML's and found this;

Well, I was honestly hoping more for a bonus in writing speed.  I guess it could just be the RNG and the library actually does give some mysterious invisible bonus to hit/best seller chance, but since most of my experiences with library seemed to make reading, skilling, etc. faster I'd assumed it would have some effect on novel writing rate.

Also, I think rereading books count.  My partner's selfsim regularly got wishes to read many, many books, and rereading books prompted the wishgranting.  Of course my eyes could deceive me, but that's what I recall.
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to trigger gardening opportunity? Is there a mod to improve the chance? on: 2009 June 20, 18:18:16
Get the AwesomeMod, CTRL-SHIFT click your sim, More.../Opportunities/Trigger opportunity now, or something like that.  If you don't want to "cheat", keep gardening, labourer.

I would recommend strongly against going under ../Opportunities/Skills/Gardening and picking one of the SpecialFood (or whatever they were) ones, as those reset your gardening skill to the minimum required.  I thought I'd be real clever-like and speed up a sim's getting of the omniplant opportunity and wound up needing to bring in perfect steaks with no way to plant steaks.  Top shelf.
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Novels - A Guide on: 2009 June 20, 00:21:19
Maaagical Library Aura Test, RE: Writin'
Subject sim: specialist in science fiction, Speed Writer perk.

Procedure: three sci-fi novels at home, three in the library, testing for PPM (time spent writing) and quality.

Results:
Home tests:
Book 1 (04:50-08:50), hit
Book 2 (09:23-13:23), best seller
Book 3 (14:10-18:10), best seller

Library tests:
Book 1 (19:08-23:08), hit
Book 2 (23:25-03:26), hit
Book 3 (03:50-07:50), best seller

Conclusion: hells of disappointing.  I was hoping the library'd at least do something, I guess its effect is either a LIE or is limited to skilling.  I'll test that next.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hidden/missing traits? on: 2009 June 19, 20:56:35
Chiming in here to say that being vain or materialistic is not the same as being a snob, really.  It's a bit crap that they just lumped them together without bothering to think through the differences between them.

Shy and Stubborn would be nice, Loner's not bad as it is but it's certainly not all that great.  I'm a loner, but I don't feel like shit if I'm around three other people.  That's more in the territory of "Avoidant" than "Loner".
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't finish Omniplant Opportunity on: 2009 June 16, 19:52:05
Some questions about stocking, are you limited to ten catches of all the given stocked fish?  Or does it essentially become an infinite well of whatever fish you stock it with?
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Lot sizes! on: 2009 June 16, 09:02:33
Oh, and the lack of a neighbourhood editor in the first place. TS3 is a step back to TS1 in this aspect.

I knew about this before, but it really struck me today (I hadn't really bothered with it before, every fambly was so throwaway I lost interest rather fast).  I made a simulacrum of my ex and wanted to put her near my selfsim's house, and unless I wanted to bother with parasitically stealing neighbouring houses, lots cannot be moved, extra blank lots cannot be put down.

It's just odd and stupid that so many things are a step backward, and so many steps forward weren't taken.  Like why in the hell is everybody still the same gott verdammt height?  I don't care if it's hard EAxis, you're a giant stupid company, you delayed an already overhyped game for hype, you could have made a nice change and not ruined it in other respects.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Traits Cheat Sheet - Work in Progress on: 2009 June 16, 08:37:16
I was a bit confused on this measure, I'd figured it wouldn't revive plants past their prime, but it revives death flowers after you harvest them, so I figured something was messed.

Can't green thumbs NOT kill plants to begin with?  Or am I forgetting something?
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Novels - A Guide on: 2009 June 16, 03:12:04
I had fun with the book titles - Children's books such as "Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie" and "The Noodle Incident," or a Romance novel titled "Do Androids Watch Electric Porn?"

My partner had fun naming her childrens' books "Mommy and Daddy's Littlest Buzzkill", "Mommy and Daddy Yell Because They Don't Love You", "Why Mommy and Daddy Hang You Upside-Down", and a bunch of others I can't recall.  She just spammed childrens' books to get a 25-book wish.

Since I'm slightly less bored with TS3 right now, I'll try actually testing the library effect.  3x the same genre in home with specialty vs. 3x the same genre in library with specialty should hopefully be enough.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hidden Items on: 2009 June 16, 03:05:02
Three, Socializing is easy in TS3.

I never said it wasn't.  I was just commenting on how lame and empty it is, and I was never saying it was a particularly good thing or had any worthwhile awards.  I'd honestly rather have the ability to "have" a job a sim never does and do stuff on the side (rockstar billionaire bikini supermodel epic novelist), but that's me, and I am definitely not you.

Also, the reward for being Emperor of Evil is an aura of haet!1.  That red glow you see?  Each pulse makes your friends and family haet!1 you.  Parents, teachers, friends - they are all against you.

Also this seems to have looped into career perks.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambrosia on: 2009 June 16, 02:27:21
You can transition him back to adult (or YA) using shift-click "Edit in CAS" in awesomemod.

In my experience the only downside to this is that if you have more than the normal amount of traits, you'll have to add them all back again since it won't accept anything above the typical age cap.  I've abused it to turn old people young again several times to no ill effect.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Maids and bed-making on: 2009 June 14, 22:11:48
So they have the maid service. One of them will be there until 4 pm, just dicking around and eating cans of soup, which he tends to drop on the floor when he's done cleaning. He does the same thing over at House #2, where nothing is self-cleaning.

Yeah, this new feature of "sometimes the people you hire to do a job will just not fucking bother" is so great.  I could understand missing some things, or not "cleaning until pristine".  That would be modestly realistic.  I've encountered a couple cleaners at other peoples' homes before, and they tended to do the jobs they were hired to do.

An option to cancel the newspaper subscription and get news online would be lovely, at the very least, the first would be.
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Singing in the shower on: 2009 June 14, 22:07:12
I've had this happen with guitar playing. All in-game sounds were muted, but my speakers were on so I could listen to iTunes, and sometimes--but not always--the guitar would be audible anyhow. Weird.

This and the fact that some guitar songs are really loud compared to the brunt of the rest of them.  Way to go, EAxis, volume balance: you fail it.  Even when I had the sound on (albiet low) the stupid thing was still cranking out notes like it was cranked to 11 every other song or so.
47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Novels - A Guide on: 2009 June 14, 22:04:12
I wonder if we'll eventually get a SimPE-like took that will let us add additional markers.  Since, for example, you can't write Pregnancy books, there are only 2 in the game, and Sims constantly roll Wishes to read them when having kids, even if they've already read both.

Well, you know, since puddings have no memories it's like a brand new experience for them!  Though obviously there's SOME marker indicating what they've done before (ergo "reread Broken Rubber: A love story"), just no way of going back and seeing what the hell happened.

So all the proposed virtues of having no memories, is it just a readily visible record that helped cause VBTs or existence at all?  Since there are obviously memoryoid toggles somewhere.

Also, would the fun rates of books be something more akin to script or XML?  With all the dandyriffic things extracted from the XML, maybe the answer to "does it fucking matter what book you read?" lies in there.
48  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hidden Items on: 2009 June 14, 05:48:22
So there is a "reward" (performances now giving money) but it also comes with the loss of the salary and the loss of working hours.

Bawww, your sim doesn't have to piss away countless hours to go to work and can now instead piss away countless hours doing empty romance and friendship parties!  Woo!

Kind of a pisser, honestly, it would've been a nice reward in TS2, but puddingsville is so... dead-feeling.  Not even uncanny valley, that would be fun sometimes, just dead and void.

As an addendum I was also expecting the master thief statue to be a gigantic golden fox and was sorely disappointed to see that it was nobbut a tinyfox.  You'd think a master thief could have stolen something a bit larger, considering the title, or at least something a bit more impressive.

I was honestly more disappointed in the fact that master thieves can't steal other sims' things.  What the hell is the point of being a thief then?  Fie on "perks", the boring things.
49  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Singing in the shower on: 2009 June 14, 05:44:21
That's happened to me too, but honestly the music playing when I've muted the gott verdammt music and clashing with what I have on which I actually want to listen to is a bit of a pisser for me.
50  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Tuning XML Data - (Traits, Rewards, Plants, etc.) on: 2009 June 14, 05:32:46
Wonderful, thank you for the data.  I can confirm effectively what the bits about skill points are saying with the plants, I'd copied a neighbourhood with a previous fambly that had a life fruit orchard and, by chance, parked the second iteration of mine and my partner's selfsims next to it.  I realised quickly that gardening levels hilariously fast with an eternal and massive source of life fruit.

How difficult is it to extract and mod these?  I've tooled around a bit with GCFScape and some Valve games, but I'd like to change that 1% chance for same sex households for certain neighbourhoods, if possible and without breaking compatibility with Awesomeware.
