76  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Worthless whore! That's not my baby! on: 2009 June 12, 16:03:03
Okay, so I was playing the Goth family.  When Bella married Mortimer, I had her brother Michael Bachelor move in as well so I could find him a wife without having to switch families.  I found him a wife, he got her pregnant -- or so it seemed, since we got the lullaby and she was puking the next day -- and I moved them back to live with Michael's parents.  A few days later, Bella read in the paper that little Tim Bachelor was born.

When Tim was a toddler, Bella took toddler Cassandra over to visit Grandma & Grandpa Bachelor and Uncle Michael at the Bachelor house.  Bella was interacting with Tim, and I noticed he was listed just as "acquaintance."  I checked the family tree.  Lo and behold, Michael was not listed as Tim's father -- nor was anyone else.

So .. was this because I had parthenogenesis enabled?  Or is it just some funky thing?  I've seen a few complaints of similar things in (apparently) active families as I peruse the TS3 boards, so I'm not sure if parthenogenesis is the problem or not.

Interesting point: When you transition to teen, you lose your A and get dropped down to C and have to build it back up again.

I hate that.  Why should an honor roll genius kid become suddenly average again just because s/he started high school?
78  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD & SCRIPT HACKS: CRASH ISSUES THREAD on: 2009 June 12, 13:54:12
Does the game always crash when you're on the second "ray" of the loading star? That's the "Random Crash". It seems to be fixed simply by randomly kicking the game and is not directly associated with AwesomeMod.

I should know by now to believe you.

I was SO SURE that it was the magic of deleting the caches that fixed things.  However, last night I decided to trust you on this.  The game crashed during load at that same old spot, but instead of deleting caches, I just tried starting again.  Lo and behold, it loaded fine.

You are The Awesome.  I should remember that.
79  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is it only my sims, or they all actually like to flirt with anything that moves? on: 2009 June 11, 17:20:30
Also, I think a part of the problem with my game is that story progression is off.  I will try turning it on and see if some sims actually get down and start something.  My playable is, of course, hopeless.  I gave simjolrei the "heavy sleeper" trait, which was probably a mistake.  Neat is also wrong - he keeps insisting on making beds and washing his hands incessantly.  I will have to modify.  There are other aspects of personality that could better be exaggerated by the game.

I had turned parthenogenesis off (and story progression on) and discovered that my town was rapidly becoming a senior citizens retreat.  Every now and then a couple would autonomously wed and spawn, but it was rare.  I ended up turning parthenogenesis back on.  If I played the other families and saw to their marriage and spawning, it would be one thing, but since I tend to stick to just one or two families, no-parth doesn't work.  I'd rather have one-parent town-spawn than no spawn at all.

I haven't noticed my Sims flirting with anyone other than their partner, except for Bella, who is flirty.  Bella flirted with the ghost of Mortimer's grandfather, tsk!
81  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The whole thing is becoming a big pain in the $%% on: 2009 June 11, 15:57:08
I don't understand what is so hard about it all anyway.  I also have the sims on its own drive, with no internet connection, and I managed to get everything from the store, including Riverview, into my game- all by myself!  I also managed to get the arr version there too.  Download the things on your drive with internet connection(search here and ye shall find!) and then put them on the other drive.  Presto!

Thanks...that was straight and simple!

You couldn't figure that out for yourself?  Ouch!  You are full of fail.
82  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD & SCRIPT HACKS: CRASH ISSUES THREAD on: 2009 June 11, 13:51:10
Did your run Riverview through the Recompressor?

Yes, that seems to have worked.
... I tried launching the game again and it opened fine, Riverview was available in the Start New Game menu and it opened fine. Have not tried to play yet but I'm pretty confident it'll be fine. Thanks again.

Well, it wasn't fine fine. I was able to play, then saved and quit, and the game crashed on the launch screen when I tried to restart it later.
I couldn't remember if I'd been deleting the script cache file everytime I started the game, so I removed it and CTDed on launch again. Next time I went in and took out all four cache files and those xcpt... files that the game generates now (have they always been there, or is that new since I installed riverview?) and the game started up fine.

I'm a computer user, so I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I think my problems with Riverview and Awesomemod (or my inept installation) are related to those xcpt... files. I don't remember even seeing them before I installed Riverview and I certianly didn't delete them during my past successful run with Awesomemod. Two such files get generated each time I launch -- or try to launch -- the game now, and they don't overwrite themselves as I had eight of them stacked up in there during my latest round of monkeying with things.

As always, I'd appreciate an suggestions, explanations or input. Thanks in advance.

I've found that you can actually delete everything but the folders in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.  All the stuff you need regenerates.

Did your run Riverview through the Recompressor?  I'm not sure what happens if you don't, but probably something unawesome.
84  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: A sim of mine wants to become "good friends" with herself... on: 2009 June 10, 00:41:59
If a copy of the Sim exists in the bin, it's possible that there's another "her" walking around.  I haven't experienced it, but my sweetie has.  He said it was quite disconcerting bumping into an elder version of his character when he was out and about.  (I guess his other self aged faster).  I said that at least it didn't cause a rift in the space-time continuum.
85  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / World of Puddings / Re: Sim Tigerlilley TS3 on: 2009 June 09, 15:20:15
Well, make the relevant updates and send in new pix. Chop-chop. And it doesn't need skills of an artist for this. It just needs skills of an oafish barbarian.

You oafish barbarian.  I iz NOT a camarawhore, thankyouverymuch.  Can't speak for the others.  My Sim will remain as is, because she is unacceptable to you anyway since her head is on right.
86  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / World of Puddings / Re: Sim Tigerlilley TS3 on: 2009 June 08, 20:55:20
I know I got closer to my actual blondish-brownish hair with TS3, but it's still not quite right.  It's difficult!  She's very cute, Tigerlilley.
87  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sex on: 2009 June 08, 15:26:26
My absent-mineded Sim once forgot that he was supposed to be going to the bedroom to woo-hoo with wife, and stood there with a question mark over his head, making a sound something like, "Durrr....."  His wife, already on the bed, hollered to him to get over there, which snapped him back into the present; it was great!

@Inge:  The game seems to have embraced the concept of casual sex.  One can woo-hoo and try for baby without having a romantic interest in the other Sim.  In order to get the full range of options, one has to engage in both friendly (get to know) and romantic interactions over a period of time.  Each time together is almost like starting over, except from a higher point in the relationship.  Also, both Sims need to have their need bars pretty full or they won't get in the mood.

After Cornelia Goth died, husband Gunther was heartbroken.  While still in mourning, he met sister-in-law Agnes Crumplebottom on a community lot and cried on her shoulder.  They'd developed a good friendship over the course of Sim years.  Suddenly Gunther got the want to kiss Agnes.  One thing led to another, and they were married the next day.  I think this is a good indicator of how important the length of the friendship is.  I've never seen romance proceed so quickly for any other Sim couple.

89  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / World of Puddings / tasty phyllis pudding snack on: 2009 June 05, 14:50:33
Okay, FOJ will probably find this inadequate since my head is on right, but too bad.  I was also going to include Moody, but it made the attachment size too big, so all y'all will get is his hawt picture, since I'm too lazy to give him his own post -- at least at the moment

That's genius (yeah, yeah, & there was no modest), loner, neuroitc, over-emotional, and virtuoso.

ETA:  After playing my self-Sim, I decided she didn't act enough like me.  I changed over-emotional and virtuoso to couch potato and family oriented.  Much better now.  I also changed the lifetime want to being surrounded by family (raise 5 kids from infant to teen).

The food is dim sum, because they had no pizza!

I love that over-the-shoulder sultry look (middle picture).
91  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 June 03, 22:45:02
My grumpy Sim always gets angry toward the end of her shift at work if I have her hanging with her co-workers.  I always wonder what someone's done to piss her off so badlly.  She also got really mad once when I made her get up in the night to feed one of the babies.  She's not whiny that I've noticed.
92  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Why Does the Launcher Still Say Unauthorized??! on: 2009 June 03, 18:17:34
This appears to solve the problem.  I'm not sure why.
93  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Technical problems with THE HORROR: downloading, installing, and running it on: 2009 June 03, 18:15:45
What an odd fix. What, were they blocking you from playing the game if you visit pirating sites?

No idea.  I thought it odd myself.  I didn't even have any speculations, so maybe you've hit upon it.

@crunk: I'm glad it worked :-)
94  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Technical problems with THE HORROR: downloading, installing, and running it on: 2009 June 03, 17:26:49
Disabling internet completely also gets rid of the message. Something in the authentication process, perhaps? Moar experimentation in the works.

Edit: it must be doing some sort of check at start up for SOMETHING - what that something is I have no idea. Blocking all internet connections when first firing the launcher up results in no "non-final, unauthorized copy" warning.

On the TS3 site, some are saying that cleaning cache and cookies of all internet browsers that you have will fix the problem.
95  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 June 03, 10:59:15
So I went back in game and actually got some pictures that are not too dark.  Tongue

Why in the heck are your screens so dark??

I have no idea - these are all just printscreens.  I think some of them were probably at night, but the picture of the rock drawings definitely wasn't - I took the first one at night and it was so dark I had to refocus my eyes to even make out the drawings.  It doesn't look that dark in-game, honest.

My print-screens of the game are quite dark as well.  I have to go in with a photo editor and lighten them to achieve how they looked in-game.
96  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 June 03, 00:48:33
How did people manage to post on the official forums without a legit serial key, I wonder?

You could sign up without one. I used my Sims 2 account and transferred it (after reserving my SN).

I did that, but it won't let me post until I register a game.  That's the message it gives me, anyway.
97  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 June 02, 16:18:04
I'm curious whether anyone who had arrred either the reloaded or razor version has purchased the real deal.  Just wondering if there are significant differences.
98  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Missing Sim on: 2009 May 31, 12:27:39
Aggie, you should have a back-up save you can use, if you're unsuccessful in retrieving the toddler.  The game apparently keeps the second-to-last one automatically.
99  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Burial Grounds (Dead Girls Don't Say No) on: 2009 May 30, 23:10:35
I've never had a burial grounds option, that I've noticed.  Do you get it by clicking on something (the ground, perhaps), or is it something offered to you when you move into a house?
100  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Important notice from the GRAMMAR POLICE. Plz read. This means you. on: 2009 May 29, 20:13:15
I would like to refer everyone of the original post. The following quote in particular:

Quote
Pescado has strongly suggested that grammatical errors and other behaviour demanding the sharp spork be handled by a barrage of PMs, rather than excessive poking in the thread

I would have posted this earlier yet was afk, so I think all of you should be feeling bad about yourselves in the handling of the new can. It was meant to be handled via PM not sporks in thread, shame on you all.

I thought about that, but I thought maybe he was referring only to threads where the subject was not some sort of ass-hattery or related tardism.  Still, I've sent two PM sporks, and received utterly no reply.  How unsatisfying.
