may be cuz its a bakery (retail type business) and not a pay-to-spend-time business?....
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why sell cheap stuffs if you can sell plasma TV's and Expensive hot tubs? on: 2006 March 08, 14:12:48
npc employees are pretty good, at least the 2 i hired are doing fine.
the only and pretty serious problem they have is that they use "Sell at cheap" etc alot which really screw up my profit margin. (no sell cheap hack possible ? Grin Grin Grin)
and i would also be much happier if they can spend more time on the customers who are buying more expensive stuffs, right now they just pick a random customer and do sales action, which isnt that bad once your buisness is on track.
Hopefully Pescado can make some kind of "efficient sales hack"
Overall I think you should have at least one npc, and you can have your own sim help to do it more efficiently
but the whole point of a successful business should be that it can run autonomously without much of your interference and still generate a good profits, and to do that you have to have npc sales.

I am pretty sure you cannot sleep on a community lot as the game arrived out of the Maxis box.  There is something about it in the guide, with respect to a furniture store, but I can't find it right now.

Found it!  "...you can place previously unavailable home-only items (such as beds) on community lots for actual use, but they'll have only limited interactions (for example, Sims can Relax or WooHoo on a bed but can't sleep on it)."

In other words, you can run a brothel, but no hotels!  I'm sure someone will fix that sooner or later.

thats NOT what i mean, the title of my post is "HOME business....", i know you CAN make a hotel on community lot because there is a community SLEEP hack on MTS2. the hack re-enables sleep options on community lot beds and people will sleep there.
What i want to know is if customers will sleep in a HOME business hotel. cuz somehow i suspect that they behave the same on a residential lot as they do on a community lot.

im about to build a new house for the family im playing and i want it to be carefully planned and not a abomination piece-of-crap like my current house. and my current house is so tiny i barely have space move around my own family members, will be a disaster if i would to start home business now and test it heh

no one knows?
81  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why sell cheap stuffs if you can sell plasma TV's and Expensive hot tubs? on: 2006 March 08, 13:03:53
There is a perk that helps all your sales interactions go more smoothly, I forget what it's called but it's in the second column from the left.
i think thats the 4th level perception perk, it gives 30% to the effectiveness of your sales interaction, but its only for your business owner, and if you hire npc sales to do your selling (like i do) then its worthless
82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / home business Hotel, is it possible? on: 2006 March 08, 10:25:52
will customer actually stay and sleep in your home business lot? or its a wasting of time
i know there is a community sleep hack but thats for community businesss
thanks

Business rank means nothing

correct me if im wrong, but it seems like the buy bars goes up on its own and the higher your business rank the fast it climbs (on its own) sometimes my customers buy plasma tv without my sales employee helping at all (they were too buy helping other customers)
also I noticed that hard sell doesn't decrease customer loyalty but increases it. and it adds a large amount to the buy bar , not as much as dazzle does but it doesnt drain energy
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why sell cheap stuffs if you can sell plasma TV's and Expensive hot tubs? on: 2006 March 08, 00:02:49
Rally Forth is overpowered! My servo got it (from home business that he owns, but can be used anywhere)
since servo only has 3 needs, and rally forth  does NOT drain power (does drain energy but NOT power), i went to my community business with him only and kept rally forth rally forth rally forth in where my employees are, and then find someone to play kicky balls to quickly replenish social and use macro-kick stuffs to fix fun, i keep doing for like 4 whole days now and all my employees are green mood. i only need to stop once for a looooong time to recharge under the sun (its quick)
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why sell cheap stuffs if you can sell plasma TV's and Expensive hot tubs? on: 2006 March 07, 20:02:24
AHHHHH the mood!!!!!!!!!
that must be it!!! the snapdragon strikes again! LOL
those magic flowers keeps the customers happy and that is why my dazzle succeed more often than my home business (with no snapdragon)

Snapdragons are.. way too good.

Conclusion: flower-arranging is THE first talent you should learn for any successful business

86  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why sell cheap stuffs if you can sell plasma TV's and Expensive hot tubs? on: 2006 March 07, 19:49:58
then may be it has something to do with customer loyalty?
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why sell cheap stuffs if you can sell plasma TV's and Expensive hot tubs? on: 2006 March 07, 19:47:32
im not saying i didnt succeed at low ranking, but i didnt succeed very often, but it almost always work now
and i dont have any kind of relationship with most of my customers if at all.
and the only time i failed the customer had like 30 daily with me (compare to 0 daily of most others)
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why sell cheap stuffs if you can sell plasma TV's and Expensive hot tubs? on: 2006 March 07, 19:37:18
Yea it is pretty unrealistic, cuz in rl, shops like wal-mart or mcdonalds that sells alot of cheap things makes more money than say any car-dealership.

Can anyone with a prima guide tell me whats the exact formula to determine if a Dazzle interaction succeed or fail?
It looks like there is something to do with business ranking, cuz when i first got gold sales at my home business i used it on customers and failed a LOT. so i was afraid to use it and now i tried again on my level 10 electronic store and i succeed everytime except once and i checked using mind-control mirror, the customer was in a negative mood.
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Why sell cheap stuffs if you can sell plasma TV's and Expensive hot tubs? on: 2006 March 07, 19:29:14
It seems like when your business ranking gets higher and you get more loyal customers, it will be just as easy to sell a plasma tv (11000 simoleon at regular price tag) as selling a book on a shelf (69 simoleons)
So say, why would anyone who wanna make big $ open a food/flower store and not a Plasma tv store or hot tub store?

My community business lot generated 230k in ONE session (the session was about 30 hours or so) and i was mainly selling computers (the expensive one), and a few plasma tv, im curious what kind of money ill make if i only sell plasma tv or hot tubs.
FYI, the business ranking is 10, 5 employees (gold sales x 2, silver restockerx1, gold registerx1, and a manager who i assigned to be register) my own family (1 human and 2 servos) helped but the whole thing was relatively autonomous
the snapdragon really helped tho, i place those all over the place to keep my customers and employees in better mood (only one or two in one spot so energy wont drain too fast)
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Malfunctioning Robot Insanity!! on: 2006 March 07, 19:00:16
Servo cannot be turned off when it goes crazy but you CAN turn off the other robots
just turn it off it will return to the pad and u can repair it
i wish they tune down the chance of gone crazy for the non-servo robots cuz they break way too often
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Managers, have anyone successfully trained a townie/NPC manager yet? on: 2006 March 07, 12:41:14
From the guide:  (with a bunch of useless words deleted as I'm typing on my laptop)

The amount of income the owner recieves each day is based on the hourly average income from the lot over the last five sessions as shown in the Cash Tracker.

The daily decay can be reduced by two-thirds if the owner calls into the business each day.  Even in the owner calls diligently however the business stops producing daily income after nine days.

Your Sim needs to check in each day for each business.  When Sims call to check in, a progress bar marking the process of the call appears above their head.  The higher a Rank the business has, the shorter amount of time this consumes.

The first day of remote running, the base income is automatically reduced by 20%.  Also, the first day and each day after owners allow a business to run without them, the amount of income decreases by 30%.

To restore remote income to full (if it hasn't completely decayed away) or restart it, the owner must travel to the store and run it for at least four hours.  The next day, the new income will be based on a new hourly average and decay starts over from there.

There's also tons of formulas in the text that makes this even more confusing.  Smiley

OK, my business is making something like 15k a day on average, so one day i was home and decided to check in, after short while of talking (my ranking is 8 ) the manager told me everything is fine and thats it!!!!! No money nothing at all
tried a few more times and all the same what is the problem??
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB=Great because it is the end of Nannies! on: 2006 March 06, 20:15:55
OMG thanks for this info
i was thinking if flowers arranging is a totally worthless talent
luckily both my servo couple have gold badge in that lol
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Managers, have anyone successfully trained a townie/NPC manager yet? on: 2006 March 06, 20:13:04
I have a couple townie managers but the check in on business thing doesn't work that great for me anyways so there isn't a huge advantage to me  anyways.  You can call every night after midnight to get a new random selection of employees to hire.  Every once in a while you'll get lucky and they'll be somebody in there  with a few silver/gold badges.
what does the check in actually do?
94  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Servo "Do Chores" on: 2006 March 06, 20:05:45
COMPATIBILITY:
This hack is fully compatible with all FFS hacks. Tested for TS2NL v1.0.

So this hack is for nightlife and not open for business? i dont get it...
ok... i assume thats a typo but may be it's worth pointing out
and THANKS!
95  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Managers, have anyone successfully trained a townie/NPC manager yet? on: 2006 March 06, 20:02:40
see, that's the problem
when i use phone option to hire employee, it always only list that 4-5 guys
i met a lot of new townies/npc in the shopping town and made alot of frineds but they are not shown on the hire list
the only way i can know what skill/badges they have is by calling them and pause then use the mindcontrol mirror to check their stats, which is a pain in the butt
96  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Managers, have anyone successfully trained a townie/NPC manager yet? on: 2006 March 06, 19:53:44
It seem like if you can get a manager to watch your community lot business, you can make money by just calling in?(right/wrong?)
how are you gonna do that? since npc employees usually have low skills (means much slower to get badges), and they wont last as long since they are not very good at handling their needs efficiently when they are taking a break...
it could be forever (literally) to get an npc to have 5 badges
Just wondering if anyone have succesffully done it and is it worth it?
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request: Talent Badge training progress bar .... Please? :) on: 2006 March 06, 19:31:30
apparently servos don't mind hot tubs, showers, puddles, hand washing, or water baloons, but they don't like pools!
i dont know about your servo, but my servo was devasted when he tried using the jacuzzi or bathtub (didnt try shower)

98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request: Talent Badge training progress bar .... Please? :) on: 2006 March 05, 18:16:40
They can also become vampires and zombies or vampire zombies, or so says the prima guide. A vampire servo would be rather difficult to play though as they need sunlight to recharge so you can see the difficulties there.

On one hand, I think it's interesting that we can control the servos and they are the 'oddball sim' type of this expansion pack just like aliens, zombies and vampires were for the ones before it, but on the other they don't function too well as maid/butler etc. Christinalov's npc works a hell of a lot better. Servo doesn't answer the door or the phone, cleans only when he wants and tends to fool around a lot. Plus he does dumb stuff like make Christmas cookies.  Roll Eyes

Their kind of like the nannies without the pissing and all the moaning and complaining, which as far as I am concerned were the only things that made the nannies tolerable.

As a playable sim, servos are an interesting alternative. I currently have one in love with my elderly vampire former lunch lady turned cosmotologist sim lmao so that's one odd couple.

But as far as being a service npc, they um, leave a bit to be desired imo. There should be ways to set what things you want them to do and what you don't. Or at least they should run better. I have to say even though you couldn't control him, the servo in TS1 worked a lot better.

I agree, they are not good service sims. but then they are really good normal sims, require much less attention than human, very good employees, and godly crafters
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request: Talent Badge training progress bar .... Please? :) on: 2006 March 05, 08:24:22
My Diva made a Servo in quite a short time (she has a gold robotics badge).  It took her a couple of sessions and she did it in one evening.  Now I am stuck with a robot who keeps stuffing himself with food nobody else wants and I have to keep sending him to work-out.  I'd certainly like a progress bar though, I have no idea what level any of mine are on.

Yea, the servo do chores is getting really annoying now. they kept doing trivial things instead doing their real job, like sell items to the customers etc
oh and their do chores action override the no-autonomous fridge by Inge, which is really annoying.
So NO do chores hack is the next thing i want Smiley
