1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Crash to desktop on: 2009 December 29, 23:42:15
Don't know if his helps anyone, but I was crashing right as the first loading screen finished.  Tried everything in this thread (and a number of others) and nothing worked...then I realized I had a tad of confusion that might be affecting others who find this thread.

On the http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15185.0.html page, there are two versions, "1.7.9/1.7.11/2.2.8 VERSION" and "1.8/2.3 TEST VERSION."  These version numbers are not (as I had previously thought) the version numbers of awesomemod.  They are the version of the Sims 3 game (I never noticed or cared what version of Sims I was running before).  So, possibly check the TS3 launcher and in the bottom corner of it, it says which version of the Sims is installed and download the appropriate awesomemod version.  (After all, why would anyone give a single download 3 different version numbers?)

That was exactly my problem! Thank you so much!

Any word on a camera hack yet?

Aikea_guinea posted a camera config in the GOS Sim3 picture thread. All that does is take away some of the drift when using cameraman mod though.

Thanks, I'll check it out. So nothing comparable to gunmod's hack yet, then. I didn't realize how essential that was! *waits patiently*

It would be amazing to see light changes, just no color changes.

Screw that. I want a camera hack. The camera movements are fucking shit and I despises them.  Angry

Aw, I actually came here looking for a camera hack and this thread is what the search came up with. I guess that answers my question, then. :/
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Razor1911 release vs. Reloaded release on: 2009 June 04, 02:45:11
I downloaded the Reloaded version when it first came out and wasn't impressed enough to keep playing, but now that all this content from the store is coming out and I'm seeing everyone's pretty legacies and stuff, I want to try again. Can I just stick with the Reloaded version, or should I upgrade to the Razor1911 version for the sake of installing the store stuff, etc?

Well, logically, if the store stuff got you interested again (among other things), you'd want the version that can use the store stuff, yes?

Ah, sorry, I didn't know - I thought I read most of the 11 pages and just saw that the patching didn't work, but I guess I must have skipped over that part. I started dl'ing the Razor version, anyway - should be done in just under 2 hours. Gotta love those private trackers. Thanks for the reply!

Wow, I played this for about 20 minutes before promptly switching back to Sims 2. It's so laughably bad and ADD that I'm not even disappointed, just amused, really.
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: One Sim's Face Appears Distorted on: 2009 May 07, 14:48:15
Have you tried changing her clothes?

It looks like her chin is in her shirt collar.

Oh, sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that yes, the problem is there regardless of what she is wearing. Thanks for the quick reply!

Teeth outside of mouth issue could be related to use of custom skins.  Also, check your graphics settings and ensure that they are set to high (many custom skins require this).

See this thread: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,11633.0.html

Well, I am using custom skins, so I suppose that could be it, though this is the first time I've seen it after months of playing with those skins. My graphics are already set to high, so hopefully it's just a one-time thing that won't start affecting my other Sims, I guess. Thanks!
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / One Sim's Face Appears Distorted on: 2009 May 07, 14:17:00
Hi,
I have one particular Sim whose face, particularly her teeth/mouth, looks distorted. This has never happened on any of my other Sims. It started about halfway through her "child" stage, and I hoped it might go away once she aged up, but it didn't. I tried changing her hairstyle in case that might have something to do with it, as well as changing any make-up and not using any make-up. Regardless, she always ends up looking strange, even though the rest of my Sims look completely normal. She generally looks something like this, until the camera is positioned at eeeeexactly the right angle, and even then it's not much better:

Is there any way to fix this?

Thank you so much!
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 October 01, 16:46:53
Yeah, I don't see the point, either. I'll definitely try the Business Runs You hack - I never paid attention before because I never really play businesses, but it sounds like that bugger off feature might be pretty useful. Thanks!
11  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Unofficial AL Patch - Assorted Fixes on: 2008 October 01, 16:42:46
Thanks for the reply, JM! I knew nohobbyspam wasn't *no* decay, which seems more realistic, but for some reason I thought it stopped the pop-ups entirely.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 October 01, 16:31:50
Hahah, you're right, I really shouldn't take it too seriously. It's just a nuisance to have it pop up pretty much every night/morning. (Also, I'm not sure if it leads to any relationship decay? I keep forgetting to look.)
13  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Unofficial AL Patch - Assorted Fixes on: 2008 October 01, 16:15:35
Sim Wardrobe's Hack Conflict Detector has identified two possible conflicts with this patch:

*** POSSIBLE CONFLICT DETECTED ***
File Type: BHAV
Procedure Name: Sub - Process
Group ID: 0x7FBE051B
Instance ID: 0x0000201F
Packages Containing This Procedure:
\downloads\Global Mods\Simbology Two Jeffs\School bus - bring friend dialog.package
\downloads\Patches & Fixes\MATY\alfixes.package

*** POSSIBLE CONFLICT DETECTED ***
File Type: BHAV
Procedure Name: EP13 - Enthusiasm Decay
Group ID: 0x7F84511C
Instance ID: 0x00001008
Packages Containing This Procedure:
\downloads\Global Mods\Sims2Workshop\Carrigon_NoEnthusiasmDecayAL.package
\downloads\Patches & Fixes\MATY\alfixes.package

Are these important conflicts?

Thanks for asking about the school bus one and thanks to whoever answered; I was wondering about that one as well when I ran the HCD. I find the enthusiasm decay one interesting because I use nohobbyspam and over the past few days I've noticed some "losing enthusiasm in _______"s slipping through - though not nearly as many as before I installed nohobbyspam. The new things I've put in over the past few days are the updated alfixes, LordDarcy's More Decorative Slots, Squinge's No Auto Relax, Sit on Floor to Watch TV, and Witch More Often, and No Over-watering from MTS2. The hobby spam I'm getting isn't enough to really bother me, but it was just interesting the you mentioned it.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 October 01, 15:31:17
And the new problems:

1.  This has happened several times.  An NPC who comes home from work with my Sim, will (as they often do) spend the night in the hot tub or at the chess board or whatever.  A dialog box comes up the next morning where the NPC angrily says, "You invited me to spend the night, and didn't even let me get any sleep!  I'm leaving!"  This in spite of the fact that (a) I thought being invited to spend the night, and then the other party not letting you get any sleep, was considered by many people to be a good thing? (b) My Sim did not, in fact, ask the NPC to spend the night; and (c) There is always a perfectly serviceable sofa, or even the other half of a double bed, in any of my Sims' houses, where the NPC could have slept if he/she really wanted to.

This error is driving me absolutely nuts! Anyone know if there's a fix for it anywhere?

Hahaha, animal incest, that's hilarious! I'm trying to use minimal cheats this time around, but when I return to my cheating old ways (which I'm sure I will) I'll definitely use that. Thanks!

lesspetwarfare? Did I ever release that? If it's not in the Director's Cut, ask Fat Gwilly People.

*facepalm* I knew it seemed like something you'd have a hack for, and I searched, I really did! Thanks, J.M., I found it and will give it a try. (Now if only I didn't have to work in the morning. Gah.)

Have your sim direct them to interact, once they've done the interaction, IMMEDIATELY praise/scold depending on the outcome.  The praising/scolding window of opportunity is quite short.  Having the pets confined in a smaller space, so they can't wander off, also helps.

Hmmm, I don't seem to have that option available to me when I click on the cat. (Unless I'm more blonde than I thought and that option is really somewhere else. Sorry. It's late.) Thanks for your help!

Also, no, two pets can't sleep in the same bed/house.  The only time two pets can share a house is if they are trying for puppies/kittens.  And you should make sure that each pet has a its own food bowl and probably toys too to avoid conflicts.  One strategy I've seen is to lock them in a room together w/ 2 beds and 2 dishes but no toys so that when their fun motive gets low they will be forced to play with each other.

Hahah, okay, I guess I'll have to buy back that second bed! Thanks for letting me know, and that's a good idea about locking them in together. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks!
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can't Get Pets to Like Each Other Enough to Breed on: 2008 August 15, 04:27:45
This is my first time playing with pets. I have two cats, both of whom are friendly, but they're constantly having negative interactions with each other, so I can't get their relationship score high enough to breed. I read that the Sims can scold pets for not getting along and praise them for getting along, but it seems these options are never available to me. I also read that if they only have one place to sleep (bed/house), they will be forced to cuddle together, but I find that only one sleeps at a time this way and the other just waits their turn. Any suggestions on how I can get them to like each other better?

Thanks so much - I really appreciate it!

I forgot to lock that want, so it's gone now, but I'll play around with both of your suggestions the next time it comes up. Thanks so much!
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Going to Community Lot Causes Warped Graphics on: 2008 August 14, 19:29:48
Gah, how did that slip my mind? No, I did not. Let me do that now...

Okay, so, here's what happened: I removed all my CC, had one of my Sims go to a lot and then go back home, and the graphics were fine all the way through. I exited, and put all my downloads back except for the default replacement skins I have. (http://www.digitalperversion.net/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=1942.0) I went to a lot and the graphics were find, which made me happy, except that I really like those templates. However, when I went home, the stretched-out thing happened again. Hahah, oh, man, I hate the trial and error of finding out what's wrong. Anyway, thanks so much for the reply!
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Pet "Joining Household" Does't Fulfill "Get a Pet" Want on: 2008 August 14, 17:46:04
Hi there!
One of my little Sims wanted to get a pet, but I wasn't too thrilled with anything the adoption service had to offer. Instead, I went out to CAS and made a cat to my liking, then had him join the household. However, this never fulfilled her desire to get a pet, and I don't see why it shouldn't. Is there any way around this, at least for future pets I may make?

Thanks so much!
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Going to Community Lot Causes Warped Graphics on: 2008 August 14, 17:40:16
Hi there!
Whenever I go to a community lot, the Sims that I am playing get all stretched out and warped - their bodies separate from their heads, etc, like here:

Upon turning to the Sim's home, the graphics are still like this, even though they were perfect before going to the lot. The same thing happened last night when I exited a lot, went to CAS, and then went back to the lot. I have all the EPs and patches, and I have an ATI Radeon x1250 graphics card, 2 gigs of ram, and an AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4000+, and I'm running XP. (Not sure if any of that's relevant besides the graphics card, but I figured I'd stick it in anyway.) Any idea why this might be happening/how to fix it? (Aside from not visiting community lots, that is. Smiley )

Thanks so much!
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 May 23, 06:47:45
Simslice has crap objects. I've actually dissected them. Most of them are simply random collections of marginally modified Maxis codes, complete with their errors and idiosyncracies. Definitely not worth any money.

Reeeeally? Good to know. I was so enthralled with the whole weather machine object that I had the sudden urge to pay up. Thankfully my broke college ass brought me back down to Earth.

When the Sims 2 first came out, I subscribed to TSR and WDS.  Haven't subscribed to anything since probably November or December '04.
