101  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: "Buy debug" Plants Aren't Working Properly on: 2009 November 25, 13:04:14
So then it is just a bug with my game only that fruit dissapears from the inventory upon returning from vacation?
Note: Well, I decided i've reinstalled the games 4 times already why not 5? This time, after reinstalling WA, I did *not* patch to 2.2 ran the game, fruits no longer disappear from my inventory. Im going to assume the patch caused this glitch for me.

Also, The buydebug plants work for me now finally as well. A clean reinstall, and not patching to 2.2 seemed to do the trick. instead of showing up as mounds of dirt you cant do anything with, They show up like all the other plants do, and are placed full grown.
102  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: It Are A Trap - what affects your chances of success? on: 2009 November 25, 12:52:22
Traps are more of an obstacle than a threat. If you don't have the skills to pass them, all you can do is skill up and come back. I would say it is based on athletic whether you can "attempt to cross" or not. And kawaiimiyo, failing at the attempt means you still haven't gotten passed the trap, so it's still in the way, harmless or not. The sim is too stupid to just get wet and keep going.

Okay, I should have been more specific or used different wording. My apologies. When I said "Get soaked and move on" I didn't mean to imply that by failing to cross, they would still somehow have managed to go across.
I meant, that if they "Failed to cross" no harm is really done, they are only a bit wet, and are free to "Move on" to either attempt to cross a 2nd time, or to find a different way to get to their destination. Basically, it isnt gonna cause any harm to try to use the "Attempt to cross" option.
103  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I killed two games tonight. I must be speshul! on: 2009 November 25, 12:43:02
I agree it definitely sounds like a hardware problem! For what it's worth, I too was playing with a horrible video card, didnt even meet minimum specs, or even come close to it. I still played TS2 and TS3, but just had everything set to lowest settings, turned on square pixels, things like that. I have to say my computer never did anything like that. It would freeze/lag on large lots but thats about it.

And I cant help but ask, you mention you were going back to TS2 because your video card wasnt good enough for TS3? o.O Is there really that much of a difference? Like I mentioned I had an awful card as well. Even on TS2 had to have square pixels and lowest graphics. Yet I couldnt resist trying out TS3, so installed it anyways, but I noticed there wasnt so much of a difference, and it was still playable as long as I kept the graphics down low. My computer was pretty good, only the video card bad, so maybe that had something to do with it.  The only thing that seemed hard to deal with on TS3 with my old video card, was waiting for the cas textures to load.
104  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: So is World Adventures worth it? on: 2009 November 25, 11:28:07
Okay, now that I've had a chance to get my game working long enough to actually play awhile, I'll go ahead and give my two cents worth. ^_^

Well, let me start off by saying, I love it! Sure it was buggy at first, buggy still, and will be buggy for awhile longer. But, for now it still seems well worth it. The countries are look wonderful, and its just so nice to see a change of atmosphere for the sims! I for once am impressed with EA's job at world creation and decor. Before now I always thought they just kinda "Dropped" a few trees here and there, threw stuff together, but it actually looks like they put in some effort! Usually its the player-created maps that always looked best to me. But after going through an egyptian tomb, looking at an underground desert oasis. I was like "Wow" I dont think I could replicate that if I tried...  (Though I've never been good at that sort of thing to begin with of course) And besides this, even the interior decor of some sims houses looks like an improvement. One house I visited in egypt, I remember my first thought upon scoping out the rooms, "Wow! The colors actually go together! It actually matches!" And perhaps its just me, but it seems EA put more time into sim-creation as well, the sims in WA dont look so much like they were hit with the "Random-ugly-generate" button.

But moving onto the gameplay, Im hooked on tomb exploration. ^_^ Honestly, when I downloaded WA, my only reason was for new items, new tools and new interactions. The tomb thing didnt look that interesting to me, (Except for the idea of making an underground torture chamber lol) I mean... it's the sims! If I wanted a dungeon adventure, I'd play something else. I don't play the sims because I wanna deal with puzzles and traps, and have "Levels to beat" But it turns out not at all what I thought.
My favorite thing in TS3 was the "Item collecting" feature. I loved collecting gems and whatnot to display in my house. There's a *huge* amount of things to collect! And the fact you have to go through tombs and traps to get the best of them, makes it much more rewarding when you do complete a collection. I mean before, it seemed kinda lame before, my sim walking around town, "Oh a diamond!" (A lil' tune plays) "Oh! an emerald!" (Tune plays again) And for those who want your collections the easy way. There's always the relic shop to purchase vases and treasures without the effort.
And of course, the other thing I loved, was collecting "Fragments" of special items, such as divewells, or sarcophagus where once you collect all the pieces you can "Re-construct" to have one to use in your own sim home! I have a basement where I store all of my treasures and love the way these look in there. And one last thing with the items, those "Treasure chests" that your sim hunts down in ancient tombs, they can be bought from a merchant in town. They work as "Item storage"!  I always hated having my sim-inventory full, having to scroll through rows and rows of items just to find a book i wanted my sim to read. But I didnt have the space to just "Display" everything before. Now I can drag pretty much everything to store inside my treasure chest for safekeeping.

One more thing. That new "buydebug" cheat. It is a godsend in itself. I can place tomb objects in my very own sim home, and have access to other hidden objects. Before WA I downloaded bug/gem/seed spawners, (Forgot who they were from) but the one problem I had, was that once I placed them, because they had to be invisible, I couldnt remove them. With buydebug, I have access to all the spawners. While in buy/build mode, they show up as large white blocks. When I go into live mode, they're invisible. I can buy fully grown plants and place them wherever I like, to have a community lot garden, I no longer have to have a sim manually plant everything. I can even set up a community garden to be filled with full grown omni plants.

Sorry this was so long. But if those bugs could be fixed, I'd definitely be willing to pay for WA. And plan on doing so.
105  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: It Are A Trap - what affects your chances of success? on: 2009 November 25, 00:05:47

Hmm this causes a problem then, because it was the steam vents in the floor trap, not one of the stone ones you step on and there were no switches, panels or statues nearby and no way to go around it.

And if there are no switches panels or statues... Then try "Attempt to cross" I've had to do that whenever I've hit advanced tech. traps. I've never noticed it fail. And if it does... o.O Its water, your sims will just "Get soaked" and move on...

106  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: "Buy debug" Plants Aren't Working Properly on: 2009 November 24, 23:54:58
They appear to be disabled on home lots... with the other plants I noticed that when placing, they appear already "Full grown" whereas these are just those mounds of dirt.  I havent been able to get the WA Seed spawners to work either.  Not to mention, My sim's WA Fruit dissapears from her inventory the moment she returns home from vacation.

I dont know if its a bug, or intentional. I have heard some people being able to plant WA fruits on home lots... I dont know how on earth they do it, But I'd sure like to know.
107  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Tombs do not reset on: 2009 November 24, 08:06:11
The idea that treasure RESETS when you leave a tomb is STUPID. THe entire point of tomb-robbing is that it is first-come, first-serve. You cannot simply go back to a tomb you just looted and expect to find more treasure! If they had really wanted to make the gameplay renewable like that, they should have procedurally generated, random tombs. Full of demons. That you hack up with your sword. And stuff.

o.O But then it wouldnt be the sims?

Im actually okay with treasure resetting. I mean arent what those treasure chests spawning random? (At least I thought they were. Correct me if I'm wrong) I mean, isnt there a chance of your sims going in and finding a ton of fossilized watermelon instead of some ancient vase? it'd kinda suck to go through everything, not find anything good, just to realize "Oh crap this is it. guess I'll just have to "Buy" a vase " but that takes away half the fun. Even if I'm wrong and the items stay the same and they arent randomized. arent the values at least random? So long as the treasures reset, then you wont run out of things to do , you can at least try to go back for "Bigger and better"
I only want the traps to respawn. Its no fun "exploring" when you just waltz in to a cave, and go straight to the treasure, time and time again.

Demons? bah =p  Just throw in more traps, and make them deadlier.  Pfft, when my sim walks into a hidden fire trap, she shouldnt just shake herself off, disarm the thing and move on. She was just set on fire! I want a small chance of her turning into a pile of ashes! Give me suspense! and those steam traps? <.< Yeah, similar to a sprinkler... next time i'll have her take her swimsuit.
And not to mention those wall switches... When my sim takes her hand out to shake off 100 ancient bugs and beetles. Thats not natural! She shouldnt shake em off just like a fly or a ladybug. These are not little harmless modern bugs, these should be deadly fierce and poisonous! MOAR DANGER!

I admit, I've turned sadist. I was thrilled seeing WA was filled with fire traps and hidden switches, suspense, danger and risk! thats what I want. Heck, if my sim can come back from exploring the "Catacombs" looking like she's just come back from hell, singed from head-to-toe. I should at least be able to expect the same from a deadly firetrap in an ancient tomb right?

108  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bugs in WA on: 2009 November 23, 23:00:50
I was hoping there would be a "General bug" thread for WA.

Bugs I've noticed in my game: (With no CC and fresh re-install by the way)

---I still receive crashes on saving, even after upgrading to 2.2 and while there is no error code, if I dont use "Save as (new name)" it will hang on the saving screen forever, and have to ctrl-alt-delete it. (Edit: Actually this one was a 2.2 patch for me as well)

---Cherries, pomegranates, other WA fruit dissapears from my inventory upon returning from vacation. (Edit: Bug only with 2.2 patch)

---"Win tournament" wish will not be fulfilled, regardless of how many tournaments I've won.

---The graphical bugs I've mentioned on a previous thread where lots turn black, or the sidewalks/roads get blurred (Edit: Just learned it was an issue with my new ATI video card)
109  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Installation verification failure? (also one graphical problem) for WA on: 2009 November 22, 20:10:33
On the contrary, I notice very little lag at all in WA. My computer surpasses minimum and required specs. Not to mention, I had just bought a brand new video card especially for this game.  Waiting awhile, or zooming out to town and coming back do nothing. The only thing that seems to affect it, is going on vacation. It is leaving on vacation, where the grass goes black, and then turns into a green blur. And it is coming back from vacation that appears to either set the road/sidewalk to blurred or un-blurred.

And forgive the ellipses... ^_~ I admit I easily get carried away with those. Criticism accepted.

Edit: Problem solved! It turns out it *was* a video card problem! See, I had just bought a new video card, ATI Radeon HD 4670 It had 1gb ddr3 ram, and assumed it would be fine. I'm not very high-tech, and don't know much about video cards. But after spending the past week searching, I learned in the past ATI has had fixes for graphic corruption in TS3, and when I just saw a new driver update, thought I'd hurry and try it, tweaked a few settings, and all works fine now.
110  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Installation verification failure? (also one graphical problem) for WA on: 2009 November 21, 23:26:12
Hello...

So, I had done a complete un-install/re-install of the sims3, along with world adventures, I have *no* CC whatsoever in my game right now. I played it yesterday, and earlier today just fine... however, after trying to load up the game again, I now get this new "Installation verification failure" message. at the main menu. It says something about the installation being "Incomplete" and to "Reinstall and try again".

Edit: after un-installing and re-installing it fixed the problem, but then The error happened again, and had to reinstall. I'm not sure what triggered this. Although, it first started happening after downloading an EA tool, while i was reporting a bug, (It was supposed to be like a compatibility report or something, in which i was supposed to send it back to them) not sure if that was coincidence?

Also while I'm at it, to save space, i have on more issue I thought I'd ask. Again, I have *no* CC at all in my game. But since installing world adventures, after travelling on vacation for the first time, there was a loss of all base-grass textures. (Where grass was supposed to be, it appeared black, and after zooming out, and in again, it showed up as a flat solid green blurry type of thing.)  still had that problem when my sim arrived back home again. (The grass detail was there before travelling) Graphics are on the highest settings. And since there is no CC, not sure what this could be.

Edit: Now the problem has spread to roads and sidewalks being completely blurred. I uninstalled/reinstalled, didnt help.

Here's a screenshot of how it looks in game, highest graphic settings. (oh, in this pic. you see grass detail because I used terrain paints. The actual "Base" grass detail is gone, as you can see around the edges. (Again, texture detail is at highest setting)

111  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: World Adventures Mods folder setup, and What works and what does not on: 2009 November 20, 21:51:50
I tried having Lemon candy's and babayaga's clutter in my game.... Aside from that I had hair conversions from MTS, and also some of XM's hair in my game , and I put back my old "Saved sims" into the according folder. I never got any "Blue lots" (Though I hadnt done a full re-load of the game until I removed the items)

The problem I had, and am still having , is A loss of all texture detail on grass and sidewalks. Despite the graphics being on the highest settings.... I Removed  the objects, most of the hair, and started a new save game.... but the problem is still there...    All thats left in my game, is hair, saved sims, and households...  Has anyone had any problems with those 3 things? and/or had that "Blurry map texture" Show up in their game?

Even after removing the files, im not sure how to fix it, other than to re-install the game...
112  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 13:16:10
Wait a second, what does the link here have to do with the people who can't live without AM? It's not as if this patch is any more compatible.

I was wondering the same thing, I was still at 1.4 for reasons that have nothing to do with AM, but EA. I saw all the fuss about 1.6 errors so thought I'd wait for something more...  Would have waited further but got too impatient. I love awesome mod, but I'm willing to do without for a short time if it comes between that or not playing the game at all. Besides, if I may end up having to take out CC and re-create certain things anyways, I dont want to let myself stay too comfy with my current save games.
113  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 12:47:50
The only way I know how to check what version you have, is through the launcher...Bottom-left corner... I'd think there would be another way, but don't have a clue myself...

I use the launcher to install TS3 store downloads only, I just make sure its blocked by my firewall, or I'll d/c the internet first. No explosions or sirens yet ^_~  But I usually avoid making a habit of using it too much.

I think the main "Bad thing" about it was the potential to wave flags at EA, in case you had Pirated content.
114  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 11:12:58
Excellent! Thank you.  Now if you will forgive me for asking one more question...  Do I want to install the patch, before or after installing World Adventures?

-----Edit: Nm, ^_^ Looks like I had to patch both before and after. Had issues with direct links, even after changing SKU #s, so just used EADM for the patches... and just got rid of it afterwards.
115  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 10:28:48
Roll Eyes Would someone be able to give a link to this newest patch?
116  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: World Adventures Hits the Interwebs on: 2009 November 19, 10:20:44
While it's true EA has their many many faults, when you get right down to it all, I think this whole "Great period" of previous games/expansions is just an illusion... In my opinion at least... I mean, their have always been complaints, since the days of TS1... whenever a new expansion pack came out, people complained about how they could have done more of something, and how something in the expansion pack was dissapointing.... but give it some time, and a few more expansions... and whatever people once complained about, soon becomes these "Great days of Sims"
I'd like to see those people go back to playing TS1, or TS2 without those expansion packs that hadnt come out until recently.... Despite all those complaints, I'm sure there will be something they cant do without, that was featured in something newer.

As far as completing those checklists and following those weird tasks etc... It's not the first time they've had something like that entirely, I hated in Bon Voyage, how long it took me to unlock certain interactions, and their were tasks/goals there as well... If you dont like that sort of thing, thats what mods are for. And there will be plenty of them to take care of those "Extra nuisances"
117  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch released. on: 2009 July 07, 17:40:29
I too, am stuck at 81% at the launcher...... T.T moved out mods,  un-installed & re-installed a bajillion times, have store bought game, right version #'s etc...  about to try the gasoline and matches next on this thing ...

Mr. Pescado, I blame you and your awesome mod for all o this T.T it's just too awesome to just do without, and leave the game unpatched...

^_^ Okay, just wanted to say I got it working!!! *yay* , i had tried un-installing like 8 times, never worked, thought I had cleared out mods etc, but for some reason still got hungup at the launcher part.... So, wandering back to the EA troubleshooting site expecting useless info, found their manual un-install intructions, http://easims.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/easims.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=22226 tried that, and it worked fine =)

so yeah... just wanted to mention it..... lol T.T Now I'll have fun starting over as I didnt backup any of my save data... ah well
