551  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bodyshop hangs upon closing when I delete too much content on: 2005 November 09, 22:08:01
AH, okay...Glad to know it isn't just me, though I wouldn't wish the evil hang upon anyone. Smiley
As for the question as to whether Bodyshop deletion is faster than in game, I'd say absolutely YES...Even though Bodyshop is a pain to deal with, the process of deleting custom content is loads faster than the game.  I can't stomach deleting even one item in game as, for me, it seems to take forever.

I've counted, and whereas ingame it takes at least 5 seconds to delete an item, w/ bodyshop it takes about 1 second, at most 2. Now, 3-4 seconds doesn't seem like a lot, but when you've got tons of stuff to delete, it all adds up. And on top of that, it just sucks waiting for the thing to delete.
552  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 09, 21:23:57
Some sims just look so much better if you change their hair colour!  I always change the youngest Broke brother to blond so he looks like his father and brothers, and he always looks better, I think!  When he grows up to adult he usually gets the Maxis custom hair with the lilac streak!  (And the goth eyeshadow.....)

In my game he still has his black hair color, albeit a custom hairstyle, and he's still pretty hot, if I do say so myself. It gives him a dark & mysterious vibe. Tongue

The longer bodyshop is open, the longer it takes to close. I think its just the way bodyshop is written, and I'm pretty sure its an universal issue, and has been an issue since bodyshop from b4 the game came out. I usually just force quit. I haven't had any problems as of yet.
554  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Twojeffs PC Meltdown on: 2005 November 08, 22:42:35
A pox on ye, twojeffs' computer!

Hopefully not, cuz goodness knows we all need his computer up and running as soon as possible, and to stay that way.
555  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does this make sense? on: 2005 November 06, 19:45:56
Wow. I don't normally follow all the nonsense that goes on w/ that site. But the fact that the siteowner has managed to piss off practically everyone in the sims community is just ridiculous. At this point, it'll only be a matter of time before her hypocritical, immoral ass sinks into complete irrelevance. Especially w/ 2jeffs gone, there's pretty much nothing holding her site up.

If only her ship'll sink quicker, cuz we definitely don't need this much drama in a game community.
556  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Mysterious case of the Silhouetted Sim on: 2005 November 04, 18:15:56
I think NL did something to townies and their clothing. I used to be able to make a townie selectable, then direct him over to a dresser to change clothes. Now, after NL, whenever I do direct them to dressers, nothing ever shows up in the selection bin. So nowadays all my townies are stuck w/ their atrocious outfits. I really hope someone *hint hint* can mod it so that townies can change clothes again. Cuz it really is driving me nuts.
557  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome, TwoJeffs! on: 2005 November 01, 00:24:17
Yay! *Does happy dance*

Now I don't have to schlep around for my mods, cuz they'll all be in 1 place. Woop-dee-do!!!!!
558  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where do you get your custom content? on: 2005 October 28, 22:26:18
I actually don't have a membership at TSR not only because I have issues with them (the boards and the 'management' not the creators) but also I think I would go nuts and spend way too much time and download too much junk if I did.

I so agree. Whenever I'm tempted to pay for a TSR membership, I remind myself of the exponential rate at which my downloads folder will grow as a result of such a membership, and then the temptation is effectively squelched.

2jeffs has a mod that gives them to any sim. So you could go check there. I believe it's called something like - personal electronics adjuster... or something to that effect.

...and their brother/cousin, Cam (Bradley's son with Monica. Cam doesn't know Monica is his real mother, so shhhhh. Dayna adopted him.):

Wow. He looks very cute. The rest of them remind me a lot of Don Lothario's boys in my game. But this one is a hottie.
561  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 3 or 4 lightening bolts on: 2005 October 27, 01:23:47
I was actually thinking Paris Hilton myself, but then again it's pretty much the same thing.  Wink

Nah. Paris Hilton ain't as pretty.
562  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: If EA releases another party pack what would it have to have for you to buy on: 2005 October 27, 01:22:23
I would like to see more body types besides just slightly chunky, thin and skinny.

There's not even a skinny. All they've got is chunky and thin. I definitely agree on the more body types thing. 2 types is just way too few. But I hope they can execute it properly. The current system doesn't work too well. When sims change body shapes, their faces remain the same. So chubby sims turned thin end up looking like lollipops. And thin sims that gain weight also end up looking really weird. Next time they do bodyshapes, they should take the face into consideration too. So that they gain weight along w/ the rest of their body. Otherwise it just doesn't look right.
563  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 3 or 4 lightening bolts on: 2005 October 27, 01:04:56
Alexander ain't that bad once you get used to his ugliness. I've given him a lovely fiancee to mate with. It'll be interesting on which side of the attractiveness spectrum their kids will turn out to be.
564  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another deleted goodbye on: 2005 October 26, 23:59:41
Wow. I never would have guessed. I just figured most pple were young on account of this being a game site and all. Except for JMP of course...I always knew he was old.
565  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: If EA releases another party pack what would it have to have for you to buy on: 2005 October 26, 05:47:40
I use TJ's college adjuster to randomly select aspirations for my sims.  It adds interest to the game if I don't select aspirations suited to the sim's personality.  An in-game ability to select a 'random' aspiration at teen trans and at the end of sophomore year at uni would be neat - then again, given how the in-game randomiser works for personalities, maybe I'll stick with the college adjuster.

That actually sounds interesting. By TJ I assume you mean twojeffs?

But I think there just aint enough aspirations out there. There are only 5 distinct aspirations, w/ pleasure being just a mish-mash of 2 of the 5, and 5 asps spread out among 100s of sims, even if it were an even distribution, means dozens of sims w/ the same exact asp. So its kind of hard to have variety w/ that.
566  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: If EA releases another party pack what would it have to have for you to buy on: 2005 October 26, 02:54:41
I'm sorry, but I am sick to death of 99.99999999% of custom pants hanging all the way down off a sims ass (and thereby not lining up with a good portion of shirts available). And this do this for mean as well as women. I'm not 15, I know what a belt is and I know how to use it.  Tongue Sorry, all those low riders is just a pet peeve of mine.

High waists are back, you know. So what w/ Maxis' fascination w/ trends (bad in a game, which isn't as temporal as fashion - just look at the Uggs! they went out of fashion ages ago, but they're still stuck in the darn game), maybe you'll get your high waists after all.
567  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where do you get your custom content? on: 2005 October 26, 02:22:24
Anyway, I'll edit the post the take out the obscure part.  Tongue

It's no big deal really. I hope you don't think I meant anything by it. Just noting that some of those sites are pretty popular. Which on the one hand is to be expected if they have good stuff, but on the other hand is a huge drag b/c it takes 9 billion yrs to surf the site and d/l everything you want to.

But I guess its a good way to curb download-aholic-ism (yea, that's not a word. I know), b/c my d/ls folder is getting WAY too big. Just a few months ago, I had 2.5 gigs of d/ls. This month, I open up my d/l folder and check the numbers, and all of a sudden I find I've got 3.5 gigs of CC. Not a good growth rate...WAY too fast.
568  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where do you get your custom content? on: 2005 October 26, 02:08:37
You know what's kinda sad, and an indication of just how much of a download-aholic I am, is that I recognize, and have pretty much been to every single one of the sites pple have listed. Even the "obscure" ones, some of which aren't that obscure - SimsTV has had major bandwith problems of late, which kinda sux, b/c they have GREAT stuff.

Simshowcase is pretty much *the* best resource for d/l surfing, b/c they give you updates from practically every site out there. It's the main reason why I know all these sites. So if you're looking for new sites, you can pretty much just go there. It's like one-stop shopping for the sims.
569  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: If EA releases another party pack what would it have to have for you to buy on: 2005 October 25, 16:42:11
I'd like to see things that the modding community can't do, at least not currently, and probably not for a while, like new animations, interactions, ltw, turn-on/offs, etc.

Custom content I can get anywhere, and it's stuff that Maxis always gets wrong anyways. So that I'm not too kneen on that. I definitely think Maxis should capitalize on things that aren't available elsewhere, in better forms, but rather things that as of now only Maxis can provide.
570  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Do money sims ever get 'earn $100,000' want? on: 2005 October 21, 21:20:28
It seems the "Business Tycoon" career just doesn't pay enough, however the University specific careers seem to pay out ridiculous amounts of cash.

I so agree. Especially for the business tycoon level. I mean, do you really think pple like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet make a measly $2,000 a day? Heck no!

That's why I went ahead and overrode the Business career salaries to give a more "realistic" salary curve. W/ this, my fortune sims can achieve perma-plat in about 5 working days. And I so don't consider it cheating, b/c in real life, there are business tycoons who make WAY more. I only kept the salary at the level I did b/c I didn't want the game to be too easy.
571  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 19, 19:18:20
Briefly, I also had the HSFT lot crashing on me, and these were caused by downloaded objects conflicting with Maxis made ones although this problem didn't seem to exist prior to installing Nighlife.  The resolution was to check the log file and removing the conflicting objects from the Downloads folder.  I'd be curious to know if this is/isn't a symptom of the same problem.

I also had a problem with a house crashing on me everytime I tried to go in. I tried looking into the log folder, but there were dozens of logs in my log folder, and I wasn't sure which log I should be looking in. I told the comp. to arrange the logs by date modified, but even then, there were a whole bunch of logs that were modified at the same time.

So...which log should I be looking in?

What is this database?
573  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bodyshop issue on: 2005 October 19, 05:05:08
Aren't those just names for the different layers??
574  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 19, 02:41:14
W/ university, I had the same problem w/ lots that wouldn't load. It turned out to be an object file that wasn't even on the lot - the lot was a clean Maxis one. Maybe this is the same problem? If you try loading a clean game, and it works, that might be what it is.

In my case, the obj was called vssofamod from vitasims...I haven't downloaded an object from there since.  Undecided
575  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Blank memory? on: 2005 October 18, 21:11:51
No, it doesn't just affect wants. It affects memories too. Replacing the objects.package should do it. You could also make the file read only so that it doesn't get screwed up in the future.
