526  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing eye color, is this possible? on: 2005 November 21, 21:03:28
It does? I *have* edited default replacement eyes with this method before, and they all work perfectly. Tho' I have an ATI card...

Just to clarify, when I said graphical corruption, I didn't mean corruption of the file itself, but rather of the image quality. And it definitely corrupts the image quality. In game, it's not as noticeable unless you look at the object relatively up close. But if you compare an image pre-importation to the image post-importation, you can definitely see the quality difference. And since I have a pretty good graphics card and play w/ all settings maxed, it's particularly noticeable for me ingame when the image quality goes down a bit, esp. if I'm editing skins and the like, when the images are large and corruption is much more noticeable...you should see the mess it makes of perfectly good skins.

The DDS utilities work for both ATI and Nvidia. I myself have an ATI card. The company is really irrelevant.

A picture:
Left is the normal img. Right is the muckier one. Definitely not going to be too noticeable, b/c eyes are generally small...but you def. run into problems w/ larger img files.
527  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing eye color, is this possible? on: 2005 November 21, 18:38:08
Then, open the remaining ones in SimPE, and import a new eyecolor over the old one. Save, and put those edited files back into your normal downloads, overwriting the old ones. Thus, the game would find new graphics in the files it's using now. That should affect all current sims that have them, and all their offspring.

Importing via SimPE causes major graphical corruption. If you do decide to edit the file, make sure to d/l Nvidia DDS utilities first, and then open SimPE, and in the preferences part, put in the location of the DDS utilities (it doesn't automatically recognize the installation in my comp...don't know about others). Then all you have to do is, instead of doing "import", simply choose "Build DXT". Make sure to commit & save, and you're done.
528  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird. My sim spazzes when his parents kiss. on: 2005 November 21, 06:37:06
The original spaz reaction is simply a great mystery. The Romance Mod's jealousy-tweaks generally clear up the illogical behaviors sometimes seen, but it's sorta incomplete. If you just can't take it anymore, you can use the one in the test directory that's being worked on for NL. It's not quite complete yet, doesn't include checks for object-assisted behaviors.

Is it up now? OMG!!! The romance mod trumps the phone hack in my game. W/out it, I was forced to completely give up dating b/c of the utter lack of logic in Sims romance. Totally ridiculous. Will definitely test this one out.
529  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Weird. My sim spazzes when his parents kiss. on: 2005 November 21, 05:15:18
I went to playing the Lothario family today, after a bit of a hiatus, and Don and Dina were canoodling like they always used to do. Their son Derek goes to eat in the same room, and he springs up "Have a fit" in his queue. His relationship w/ both his parents plummet, and he goes from 100/100 to -20/96 w/ Don in a matter of seconds. This is majorly strange, b/c both Don and Dina are his biological parents, so he has absolutely NO cause to behave like this. Also, this has never happened b4. He's been behaving normally up to today. His sisters are unaffected, and the ol' lovebirds can still act affectionate in front of them. It's just Derek. Very strange.

So...does anyone know what might be going on? Bugging me majorly, b/c Don & Dina's family are very close, and I don't want them torn apart b/c of something completely stupid and utterly illogical.
530  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Anyone have Dylan's Default Vampire Skin? on: 2005 November 20, 22:12:18
I accidentally corrupted my vampire file while editing it. I went to Dylan's site to try to d/l it, but it seems his/her site is down at the moment. Could someone be so kind as to send me a copy of the vampire skin?

This is the skin I'm referring to: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=1156.0
531  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I need some clothing-Can you help me? on: 2005 November 20, 06:12:44
I have about 1.3 Gigs of clothing alone. Shocked lol. But out of ALL the stuff I've downloaded, my abs. faves are peggysims2, simply styling and all about style. Alicefashion would be a fave, except they don't update too often. And pronup sims definitely wins the award for best wedding gowns.

Of course, my tastes tend to lean towards Vogue-type fashions. Very chic & accessory-laden and always feminine. So if that caters to your tastes, those sites are definite MUSTS. If only I could afford this stuff in RL...*sigh*
532  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lol, how to marry Don to Cassandra...:) on: 2005 November 20, 06:00:10
Don knocked up Nina in all of their canoodling and married her. They have a daughter named Serena and twin sons named Nick and Jared. Don also has a daughter Adele, by Dina. He came over to "comfort" Dina in her time of grief an hour or so after Mortimer died and the result was Adele. So far no one realizes that Adele isn't a true Goth the way her brother Martin is, I'm still working out that angle of the story. It's strange though to have Serena and Adele get together, they're almost identical twins. They both have black hair and green eyes and similar facial features but Serena's face is thinner and Adele has a softer, rounder face.

That is quite strange, b/c in my game, Mortimer keeps knocking out clones. I traced it down to Mort b/c his kids w/ both Dina and Bella Goth look exactly the same, down to a T. I put the exact same makeup, hair, everything, put all of them side by side, and every single facial feature is identical. And on top of that, they're all girls. I generated extras w/ Insimenator, just to check, and every last one of them was a clone. Dina's kids w/ Don, however, do have variations, and actually come out different genders. So I'm figuring it's an issue w/ Morty. I'm wondering if it's just an issue w/ my game, cuz I haven't heard of other pple getting Mortimer Goth clones...

Cassandra is beyond dull. But recently I've FINALLY managed to make her look pretty. Turns out sideswept bangs are really her thing. W/her new hair & fantastic makeup from Helaene, I can honestly say that she's pretty now. This from a girl who exhausted every single one of my CC hairs, and still ended up looking butt-ugly. I'm amazed.
533  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Blue Screen of Death? on: 2005 November 18, 03:39:18
I know it's a driver error but I have attempted to reinstall whatever driver I can think of.

Have you tried installing new drivers?
534  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change townie's clothes in nightlife? on: 2005 November 18, 02:14:11
Just going to bump this, cuz this issue is really bothering me...

So...does anyone have a NL compatible method to do this?
535  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I am trying to give you money on: 2005 November 17, 16:39:11
Well, the girl's basically offering him free money. If I were him, I'd just take it. lol.
536  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Movies (the game) on: 2005 November 17, 04:03:36
Wow, it's finally out. I remember back when I was impatiently waiting for the first Sims 2 game, and this was supposed to be coming out around the same time as TS2. What a long delay, eh?

It def. sounds interesting. I might pick it up, if I get all my work and papers and all the other myriad school junk done with....
537  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change townie's clothes in nightlife? on: 2005 November 15, 23:06:45
Danny's Change Outfit and Appearance tool has been updated for nightlife, lets you change their turn ons/offs as well. His site is DMA sims, I think the url is valdea.com - his own npcs have turned into a right muckabout to get changed, though. You used to be able to do them with Merola's mirror, but not anymore.

Where is this outfit/appearance tool? I've looked all over the site, and I can't find anything to that effect.
538  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to change townie's clothes in nightlife? on: 2005 November 15, 03:21:00
Is there any way to un-hose this? I can paste across old copies of the character files, or even an entire old version of Neighbourhood.package, but would rather keep the rest of it if possible...

Usually I find replacing either the lot or the character files, or both, quite helpful. Sometimes its a screwup w/the sim, sometimes its with the lot. Replacing both should keep your bases covered.
539  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who Are They? (A Guessing Game!) on: 2005 November 13, 17:12:12
But isn't Skip dead? Maybe he is Skip, cuz I don't recognize him at all, and since I haven't resurrected much of the dead sims, that would be why.
540  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who Are They? (A Guessing Game!) on: 2005 November 13, 17:01:54
The other 2 are Brandi and Don, I'll bet...and the blond one...the only naturally blond premade I can think of is actually Morty Goth....but since Morty's an elder, if he's had a hair color change I would go for Daniel Pleasant.
541  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Mercyville -- My New Neighborhood -- Pics! on: 2005 November 11, 00:26:17
That waterfall you have in your screens, for some reason the waterfall isn't working for me. I put it in the neighborhood, and all I see is the rock. No animation. The river works fine. But for some reason the waterfall just doesn't. Is there something you have to do to get the waterfall to pour water?
542  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does this make sense? on: 2005 November 11, 00:11:31
I think Carrigon did the ashtray. Pretty sure.
I have the pirate ship as well, and had to put it behind Inge's lockable gate to keep the flood of adults off of it!

I actually thought the pirate thing was interesting, and downloaded it, only to open it up in SimPE and find that it had about 10,000 faces! Are so many faces necessary for a bunch of boards? I mean, really.
543  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Please, come visit my TS2 Hall of Fame (Interview with Pescado already there on: 2005 November 10, 19:00:54
Inge, really, I understand your point of view and as I said, I respect your dissicion (argh! how do you spell that?! Roll Eyes). Still I think it would be a shame to miss you amongst the others and only because of the past incidents. Of course I don't know what you had to put up with, in all these years you've been in the community.

Or you could just lose Rentechd, and then you'd probably get Inge's participation.

I don't see what Rentechd has done anyway that's been so important, really, as I didn't even know who she was b4 this whole fiasco, and I've actually been in the sims 2 community since b4 the game even came out.

If made to choose between Inge and Rentechd, I would think Inge would be the more logical choice, no?
544  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 10, 02:18:33
Well, I'm leaning towards DatGen, cuz for some reason SimPE takes ages to navigate. It takes a couple of seconds each time it loads a set of data, and the seconds can really add up. That's the only reason I don't like SimPE - cuz it takes too long to use.

The best thing to do is load only the red package in Datgen, drag all of the parts of it except the grey to red, save, load the black, drag all the parts except the black onto black, save etc.

Hmm. When I clicked and dragged a file to the color folder, the elder hair ended up in the color bin as well. Do you know if its okay to leave it that way? Or must I individually drag each age's hair file into the color bin and exclude the elder?
545  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 10, 01:48:56
I didn't even really read through the whole thing, I just dragged the hair entries over and dropped them to the proper color and saved.

So no need to change the families at all? Cuz the tutorial had a whole big section about families, and I really didn't know what to set to what.
546  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Who the hell do you think you are? on: 2005 November 10, 01:14:54
I had a baby in one of my houses with a soiled diaper the sim parent went to change the Bay and couldnt because the guest wouldnt put the baby in its crib and move. meanwhile  flies started buzzing around the baby. I finally had the sim who was dumb enough to bring this guest home  say goodbye so my sim parent could care for the baby.

I find that the "shoo" option works very well in terms of getting uncontrollable sims to stop doing most things. And also, if they're holding a baby, if you interact w/ the uncontrollable sim instead of queueing up an action w/ the baby, they'll drop the baby to interact w/ you, whereupon you can cancel the interaction and focus on the baby.

But yes, a more intelligent hack for this would be awesome.
547  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 10, 01:08:46
Datgen is completely confusing to me.  That's why I did it with SimPe, and it's extremely easy.  Link is in my post above for family numbers and hairtones.

Well, I read your post, and that was a bit ambiguous as well. First it says: Click on each Property Set and find the line that says "Family". Change the value to "b52b9d28-7b62-4f41-bd88-fb382721db82".

But then it says:
One of the property sets of each hairstyle will be grey for the elders. You'll know which Property Set is for the elders because the line "name (dtString)" will list the colour as "grey", instead of the actual colour. When you find the elder Property Set for each style, just enter the code for grey instead of the regular colour.

So is there a different family value for the grey hair?
548  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 09, 23:56:40
Okay. I just tried changing hair colours, and I am incredibly confused. Mostly I'm confused about the families. What families do we have to set the hairs to? Are there different families for different hair colours? And do elder hairs have a separate family? Or is it the same family for all colours through elder?

I looked at the DatGen tutorial, and my head was spinning. Doesn't explain very well at all.
549  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bodyshop hangs upon closing when I delete too much content on: 2005 November 09, 23:02:40
This is slightly Off-topic, but since we're on the subject of Bodyshop....I've been doing a deep cleansing of my downloads folder...and suddenly realized that Bodyshop is recognizing clothing and all other files in subfolders....Is this something new that has been addressed in the patch? I know that never happened before in my game...

I think this is a new NL feature. Which I wish they'd have implemented MUCH sooner, cuz my non-object CC folder is already a mess, and pretty much impossible to clean up by now.
550  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any Decent Custom Hair? on: 2005 November 09, 23:00:28
It makes my life much simpler, and I get townies/downtownies/children spawning with these hairs.  The downside to that is occasionally I get a nanny spawned with what I consider "young adult" hair. Tongue

Hmm. I was always kind of confused about this. CC hair that shows up in the genetics bin gets recognized as genetic hair color? So w/ NL, if I had a sim who was turned on by blondes, and I had a CC hair in the blond bin, then that sim would be attracted to the person wearing that particular CC hair?

A huge problem I have w/ the CC hairs at the moment is that I pretty much have to make all my male sims attracted to CC hair, and since everyone pretty much uses CC hair, my sims are attracted to practically every single sim out there. If this would fix the problem, I'd be very pleased.
