101  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Breeding results in huge eyebags... ALWAYS - no matter what. on: 2009 July 29, 04:55:00
If, in fact, it was absolutely a CC issue (my game is alergic, whatever) would having only that one piece of makeup in my Downloads folder to prove streching truly affect anything? If so, then I'm willing to upload the package so you can show me.

If the only piece of CC you are using is "one piece of makeup" then why aren't your sims in Maxis skins?  Non-Maxis skins are CC too.

In the Maxis skin image in the first post there isn't a problem that anyone here can see.  There's no denying that the problem is readily apparent when the sims are in non-Maxis skins.  This is why we think the problem is CC (i.e. non-Maxis skins).  If the problem isn't CC (as you claim) then it should be just as obvious when your sims are using Maxis skins.

Oi - another one.  Where do they come from?

* Kyna misses the days when the only link to MATY that was given out led to the front page of the site.  None of this direct linking to the forums business.
103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: An Interesting Glitch on: 2009 July 25, 14:51:13
i also have noticed another glitch having to do with custom groundcovers in the game. I made several with the HomeCrafter, imported them into the game, used them on various lots and for some reason, I kept getting girl babies, like for every family, all they would have would be girls. I did a bit of research and found out it had to do with the custom groundcovers, but I was wondering if there's a way around this cuz I would really like to use my own groundcovers.

I thought I'd heard all the TS2 myths over the years, but I hadn't heard that one before.

There was a glitch with the base game & early EPs with custom groundcovers.  At the time using custom groundcovers was a VBT, but that glitch had nothing to do with gender of babies, and it was fixed in an EP or patch somewhere along the way.

The gender of babies in TS2 is completely random, and the random roll for gender happens when the baby is born.  If you want a baby to be a particular gender your only option is to save your game before the mother goes into labour, then keep reloading the game if the baby is the wrong gender.

I'm curious: where did you hear that custom groundcovers affected the gender of babies in the game?
104  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Important notice from the GRAMMAR POLICE. Plz read. This means you. on: 2009 July 25, 13:43:47
as long as it is clearly understandable.

That's the critical part of your post.  Personally, I find posts where people have taken the trouble to use appropriate punctuation and correct spelling to be much clearer and much more understandable than posts that lack those attributes.
105  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Spore GA review on: 2009 July 25, 13:35:03
Have you tried lowering the resolution. I had trouble playing on highest resolution even if I lowered all graphical settings.

With the second highest, I can maximize all graphical settings.

My suggestion is to lower the resolution until the lag disappears.

Wow, deja vu.

I'm SURE I've read your response twice before Parrot, on two separate days, yet it was posted only 2 hours ago.  I assume you're deleting it and then reposting it for some obscure reason.  Stop doing that, it's irritating to keep coming into a thread that is listed on "show new topics" only to find nothing new has been said.
106  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New peggy hairs. They doesn't replace anything on: 2009 July 24, 13:22:34
Peggy's content is not only shown in the exchange, even creators from modthesims (which is the best sims website ever) use them for their models.
There's a difference between hair that looks good in still shots if you are careful to use just the right angle, and hair that looks good when you're playing the game.

Quote
It's not a big deal, they just want their sims to look good, and for the moment, we should all admit that we don't have much custom content for the sims 3, so that's why we're all stuck with peggy's hair, and that's why we all talk about her, and you're still visiting her website even if you don't like it.
Nope, I haven't been to Peggy's website in a long time.  I don't want to be blinded by all the blinkies & sparklies on her website (assuming she still has those).  Nor have I ever downloaded any of her hair, whether from the booty or from links people have posted here.  Over the years I've seen enough horror pics from other people's games to convince me that I don't want any Peggy hair in my game.

Quote
It's normal, as we players are sick of EA hair, to prefer peggy's one, no?
No, it's not normal to prefer hair that is even crappier than EA hair.  Why would any normal person want hair with gaps, that is stiff and unmoving, and looks even more unnatural than EA's selection?  At least with TS3 Peggy no longer needs to learn what colour red hair really is.

Quote
It's just a matter of time, but in few weeks I'm sure other creators will release lot of original and beautiful hair
Yes, it will be nice when we finally get some original and beautiful hair for the game that doesn't have gaps, is animated, and looks like a hairstyle a real person might have.  Hopefully that day will come soon.
107  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New peggy hairs. They doesn't replace anything on: 2009 July 24, 07:33:51
After spending the past week culling hairs from my cc folder, I don't have a lot of positive things left to say about Peggy. But... I do think she is artistically talented.

Isn't Peggy one of those "creators" who chooses to rip off third party meshes and adapt them to the Sims?  If she is, then it's not her artistic talent that you're praising, it's the talent of whoever created the mesh in the first place.

My apologies if I'm mixing Peggy up with another paysite creator.
108  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Manual or Help Text? Anyone? on: 2009 July 24, 05:17:10
There are moderators here, besides Pescado. I figured one of them could do it. I've never updated a wiki before, and am not even sure how to go about doing so, to be perfectly honest. Also, although I've been lurking here for ages, my post count says otherwise. It just seems disrespectful for an apparent noob to go messing with the MATYwikka. I'll do so once I have permission from someone More Awesome Than Me.

There is ONE moderator here besides Pescado.  I think BastDawn has enough on her plate, with all the tard-herding she has to do.  She doesn't need extra work.

FYI, senator is a meaningless position in terms of "the management" of MATY.  The senate was established to mock of the power structure on other boards.  The senate's main purpose is MOAR FIGHT and senators do not have any mod abilities or admin functions.

Leaving it up to "the management" defeats the purpose of a wiki.  Besides, what's the worst that can happen to you if you get it wrong?
109  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Manual or Help Text? Anyone? on: 2009 July 24, 04:09:55
The MATYwikka and RTFM don't list all of the console commands available through Awesomemod, nor do they go into detail regarding Supreme Commander functions. A thread detailing these things would still be helpful, unless you happen to be psychic.

I didn't say the MATYwikka already had the information.  I said it would "ideal for such a project".  There's no reason people can't go and add their notes to the wiki to help build up a comprehensive page on AwesomeMod.

The problem with a thread for a project like this is that it wouldn't take long before it became another 32-page monstrosity that was impossible to navigate.  Wasn't that one of the problems specified in the OP that this project is supposed to solve?
110  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Manual or Help Text? Anyone? on: 2009 July 24, 03:38:47
If only we had a wiki which had a page on AwesomeMod.  That would be ideal for such a project.
111  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New peggy hairs. They doesn't replace anything on: 2009 July 24, 02:52:46
Ok I haven't read the whole discussion, nor do I understand what it is really about. I don't actually get all those "game policies, copyrights" things...
And, you must be right, Peggy may be a bad person who steal other people's tool...

BUT, what is the point saying the HAIR ITSELF is ugly?

I'm sorry, but however wrong she is, I still think she creates beautiful stuff. And you might not agree with me, but it seems millions of other players in the world do, just have a look at the exchange.

However, this is just my point. I'm not defending the creator herself, and I'm absolutely not supporting her wrong methods, I'm just supporting CREATIONS which doesn't deserve the names "shit" or "ugly".

Lol.  The exchange?  I didn't think anyone put anything decent there.  It's a cesspit of bad stories (take a look at the More Awful Than You threads that deal with stories to see what I mean) and bad taste.

The sheeple (particularly those too young to have credit cards) think that Peggy is cool and that her stuff is TEH AWESOEM because it is pay and therefore out of their reach.  The braver sheeple eventually find their way to the booty over at PMBD and head straight for the Peggy stuff.  They put it in their games and quickly discover just how crappy it really is.  Then the smarter ones delete it.  Sadly, there are some pitiful individuals who keep it for their stories because they think that showing a bunch of strangers on the internet that they have this uber-crappy payshit for a game will make them seem cool.

When I entered the Sims today, U was tikd my ANm wiyks expire - very kool to alert us to haooenins!

Do people not read what they are typing?  How could anyone type that and fail to notice that their right hand had moved off the home keys?

And yet, apparently she did notice because part of the phrase was then typed correctly (apart from the spelling of cool), before she somehow went askew again for only 2 letters in the word that is presumably meant to be "happenings".
113  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Question: garden wants on: 2009 July 23, 05:30:20
My sims are always rolling the 'grow [quality] [type of plant]' want but I can't for the life of me tell what it means.  At what point in the plant's life is it considered 'grown?'  It doesn't seem to get fulfilled, but I almost always delete it because I can't seem to fulfill it, and it usually rolls right after I have just harvested the very same plant.

In my game I've noticed this type of wish is usually satisfied when the plant reaches maturity.  Since I typically plant 2 of each plant what often happens in my game is that one plant will mature, the wish to repeat the feat will roll up, then the second plant will mature a second or two later and satisfy the wish.  Like the similar fishing wish, the quality doesn't have to be an exact match, as long as the quality of the plant is equal to or better than the quality requested in the wish  (so a perfect tomato plant will satisfy the wish to grow an excellent tomato plant, in much the same way that a perfect anchovy satisfies the wish to catch an excellent anchovy).

Sometimes satisfying this wish will trigger a wish to grow the fruit of the plant - i.e. satisfying the wish to grow a life plant might be followed by a wish to grow a life fruit.  This one's easy to satisfy, lock it in and then wait a day or so until the plant fruits.
114  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Story Progression, Lies and Propaganda from EA on: 2009 July 23, 04:16:58
I was bemused by the EAxoid's declaration that story progression doesn't evict from the town sims who are in a "relationship" with the player's sims.

The problem is that their definition of "the player's sims" doesn't match ours.  Their definition is "the currently selected family".  We mean "every sim we've added to the neighbourhood plus every premade family we've decided we want to play".

If the currently played family doesn't have a relationship with every other household that we're interested in, then we're liable to lose sims we want to keep.  This becomes an issue whenever we add a new family to the neighbourhood (because they haven't had the opportunity to meet someone from every wanted household yet), and also when we want to simulate a normal town, where family A knows families B & C, but family B doesn't know family C - whenever we play family B we're at risk of losing family C and vice versa.

Also, I wonder what their definition of relationship is?  "Have met" doesn't seem to be enough as pre-AM I had sims disappear from the relationship panel when the family was moved out of town.  Does this mean they have to be friends or that the relationship level must reach some magic number?  What about enemies we want to keep in the game, will they be lost because they have a negative relationship (and therefore the relationship level is below that magic number)?
115  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Maxing University Contest on: 2009 July 21, 17:31:51
Sounds pretty much like normal gameplay to me, except that I don't usually take advantage of the off-campus endless time or bother with the silly popularity/romance LTWs.

Since this challenge forces the player to do so anyway (i.e. going on vacation or running businesses), if I was playing this challenge I would definitely take advantage of the time thing.  I'd set up a business lot as an entertainment lot with a ticket collector that basically runs itself + a caffeine station to keep my sim awake, and go after all the possible LTWs without time passing on the campus lot.
116  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 21, 07:59:37
how do you uninstall this?

cause i cant download the new patch, and i think it's because of Awesomod

It is not because of AwesomeMod.  A lot of people (myself included) had no problems downloading and installing the patch with AwesomeMod installed.

The main reason you might run into problems when installing a patch is if your core game files have been edited in some way - but AwesomeMod does not edit the game files themselves.  Since you state that your problem is downloading, not installing, that couldn't be your problem anyway.

That being said: to uninstall the mod, first you need to open up the game, load each of your saved games and make sure that none of your sims are running under SuperCommander.  Close the game.  Remove the mod from the package directory.  The mod has now been uninstalled.  I repeat that this will not fix your problem with downloading the patch.

If you do a search (the search button is up near the top of the page, just under your user info) you'll find there's a thread about the patch and problems people have had with it.  You may find your problem has already been solved in that thread.

BTW, please use capitals appropriately when you post here.  I suggest you read our FAQ (found in the Podium section of the board).

Stop posting pokeworthy stuff, and we'll stop poking.

Yes, it really is that simple.  But you'd be surprised how many tards don't get it.

You're not seriously suggesting that Peggy is one of the best, are you?

That is the funniest thing I've read in ages.

That, or sitting back while taking potshots at random kittens crossing the road.

Pescado does not take potshots at kittens.

Who doesn't like kitties? KITTIES! They're cute! They're fuzzy!
120  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Upgrading to better houses on: 2009 July 17, 07:25:06
Rename their lots so that the lot name has the household name in it somewhere (e.g. Goth Manor).  Any families in lots named after them will no longer play musical houses.

BTW search is your friend - this question has been answered many times already.
121  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Moodlets + Six Bars vs. Eight Bars on: 2009 July 09, 16:42:07
The reason they wake up at 6am is because I'm sending them to bed so that they will wake up at 6am.  I like my sims to get up 3 hours before work starts, that gives them time to use the bathroom or to do some skilling if they don't need the bathroom.  The reason I like skilling in the morning is that instead of the sims rushing out to the carpool as soon as it arrives (on the hour) the sim can skill until 30-40 minutes past the hour and still make the carpool.

SupCom seems to think that 2 hours before work starts is a better time to wake up, and will send sims back to bed if they get up 3 hours before work starts - but first it sends them off to the library or gym (depending on which skill was queued), then when they get there it decides to send them back home to bed.
122  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Moodlets + Six Bars vs. Eight Bars on: 2009 July 09, 09:50:39
Actually, the calculation for energy is special. What it's doing is that it is determining the sims's "Wake Up Time", then sending them to sleep at the point where Expected Recharge Time intersects "Time To WakeUp", which should result in the Fully Rested moodlet at full power right before work. The machine is smarter than you are.

My sims are waking up at 6am, heading down to the library to do some skilling before work under SupCom, then when they get to the library they turn around and go home so that they can go back to bed for one more hour.  Then the car pool arrives, and they've wasted that extra hour - they didn't get any skilling done, nor did they make it back home to their bed to charge up the "fully rested" moodlet.

Can you please stop them going back to bed if they just got up and it's only a couple of hours before work time?
123  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Kleptos Only Stealing Light Fixtures on: 2009 July 02, 14:03:05
Well i not seen this posted anywhere else so i thought i let you all know wat i do to get wat i want for FREE lol

I go to edit town and in my first lot i place a floor (No Walls) then load it up with top of the range cars lot comes to just under 1.5 mill lol and in the second lot again just a floor No Walls i place items i need for my house I.E beds, tv, fridges, expensive decor then i return back to the game and each night i send me sims out to steal from these lots and it cost me nowt to decorate my house of course so far none of these items has regenerated so i just place 3 items at a time in the second lot so i get wat i defenly need for my house.

So, basically, you just cheat in a very troublesome way? If I wanted to cheat, I would just do so without lying to myself about it.

Thanks for the translation MissKitty.  I couldn't be bothered attempting to read thedevilsim's post since it doesn't appear to be written in English.  Kudos to you for working your way through it and explaining what it is about (a lengthy, troublesome, and time-consuming way to cheat).

What children?  There aren't supposed to be any children here.

If anyone is young enough to still be shocked that their parents must have had sex at least once, then they're too young for MATY.

There's a pink diamond and a rainbow gem.  I have most luck finding pink diamonds when my sims go dumpster diving, which is used in the law enforcement and journalism careers.
