Title: Cleaning up after broken foodbot
Post by: Karen on 2007 September 23, 11:56:30
When a foodbot malfunctions, it leaves plates all over the lot which cannot be cleaned up by my Sims as the plates are not clickable.  I have to Force Error...Delete or use the yellow box to nuke them.   I have had this happen twice now in the last couple of days and it's really getting annoying.  Does anybody know of a fix for this, or a hack to prevent it?

It's been a while since I employed foodbots, but I had no problem cleaning up the crap it spread around when it broke.

Have you got macrotastics installed?  If so, you can try macro-clean, and hopefully your sims will be able to clean up the mess!  Also worth checking that the plates are not being masked by an object that uses a lot of invisible space, and makes anything within that space unclickable.

I always play with Macrotastics installed, so that was the first thing I tried.  Macro->Clean would be the ideal solution, but unfortunately it doesn't touch these particular plates.  You can't direct any Sim to clean them up (for what it's worth, the cleanbot won't touch them either).  If you try to click on them, you get "no actiions available".

I'm wondering if this problem was just introduced with BV, because I don't recall having any trouble with this before.

This looks like a job for the stuckobjectremover.

Well, it is, and that *does* work, but my point is that it shouldn't be necessary in the first place.

Does sound like it's another of those great EAxis "features"!  (I think I'd get rid of the food-bots for now and wait until the patch to see if a)they are aware of this issue and b) if the patch fixes it.)

That happened to me once. I traced it back to one of those mods that stop community plate clearing. Do you have anything like that?

I used to...but this is a brand new reinstall and I didn't include anything like that when putting back my hacks.

Oh well.  It's a minor annoyance.  I think I'll just trash the bots and be done with them.
