Title: Dumb question, re: pets' last names
Post by: Merope on 2006 December 30, 03:51:45
Is there any way to remove a pet's last name other than SimPE?  I don't know why, but it bugs me to see cats and dogs with surnames.

Also, are there any mods/hacked objects that help develop pets relationships with each other?  I had two cats I wanted to breed, but they hate each other.  I could edit their relationship in SimPE, but I was just curious if there was another way about it.

pets only receive surnames if they are created in CAS. adopted pets only have first names.I am not aware of any mods currently that alter a pets relationship with another pet.so sorry I can't help you there. removing a sirname is only possible as far as I know in SimPe

To alter pets' relationships, you can just use testingcheats and move the sliders.  I do this for my sims' pets.

The pet last names are stupid and annoying because if you sell a pet, it keeps its original last name, rather than taking on the name of the adopted family. I mean, whose cat has the last name of the cat breeder you bought it from? No one's. Pedigree cats have prefix names, not surnames, anyway. Doh.

Pet last name strings exist, but are empty. Just create your Pets in CAS as a separate family, and do not give them a last name at all. You can always merge them in with some Sims through the neighbourhood screen.

Ah, thank you.  I like to create my own pets and then move them into target families, anyway, so this should be okay.  And using SimPE is always an option, even though it frightens me.

Whose pet has a last name at all?

Although, since some people marry their pets .... I didn't say anything.

3 of my 5 real life cats have last names

Tough Guy McFishybreath (TeeGee)
Clifford Bjornagain (Cliffy B) Was almost The Baron Von Chocoheimer or Fjord but he got lucky
Minnow Paws

We like to give them fun names.

Um, obviously Bucky Katt and his mother, Trixie Woo.  8)

Well, according to our vet's charts, our cats are Princess (our last name), Natasha (our last name), etc. I'm sure they just do that so they know which pet goes with which owner, but it's still kind of funny to see that on their paperwork.

In my family, pets always had last names and middle names too!  It's just like naming a kid:
first name: something you wouldn't feel stupid walking around the block yelling
middle name: something you would feel stupid walking around the block yelling
last name: same name as us kids, since the dogs were treated like children (except for not having chores and getting lots of treats)  Besides, it's fun to have a family member named "Cleveland Cutiepie Lastname" or "Aslan Butterball Lastname".

Gosh, I want a puppy.  If only my husband weren't allergic :(

A friend of mine gives all her cats (she has three at the moment) last names.  Different last names.
Sometimes she enters contests in their names, and as a result she gets credit card offers and other junk mail for them.

Ah yes, that's what my husband calls the Park Test.

My mother-in-law has an INSANE dog with a different last name than hers. When she sends us letters and packages the return address says [Her Last Name] and Snowball. He has a first name too, but around here we refer to him as "Mr. Snowball."

Oh man. I need to do that. My dog has a last name.
