Title: Patch 1.11/2.6/3.2
Post by: DigiGekko on 2010 March 24, 21:35:31
Is now out. Or, has been for several hours now anyway.

http://www.thesims3.com/community/news.html?selMonth=2&selYear=2010#1933964469

    * Base Game: Fixes an issue where Sims continuously perform the "Be Invited Inside" interaction on other Sims' lots.

    * Base Game: Fixes an issue that causes Sims to get stuck in the "Grab a Slice" interaction on pizza.

    * World Adventures: Fixes an issue that causes the game to freeze when attempting to save a household on a base camp.

    * High End Loft Stuff: Fixes an issue where the family inventory loses functionality after using the Create a Style tool on an object.

    * High End Loft Stuff: Fixes an issue that prevents the fulfillment of the "Buy a Video Game System" wish when buying the "GUGA JoyToy 3" and "Console 7" video game systems.

    * High End Loft Stuff: Fixes and issue that prevents the "Presenting the Perfect Private Aquarium" Life Time Wish from counting fish in fish aquariums.

    * Shop Mode Update: Fixes problems caused by the font and updates the In Game Store to the latest EA Webkit version.

Someone go bork hunting.

Apparently there's also a CAW update to coincide with this.

I wonder what EAxis has broken in its attempt to fix those bugs/glitches.

By the time they are done with this series of expansion/stuff packs, we'll need a DVD just to store all the bloody patches on.

Basegame: 1.11.7.00500x

SP1: 3.2.8.00500x

WA didn't patch for me; does anyone have the skuversion for that?

CAW is 1.6.72.005037 from 1.5.126.002037 if anyone's interested.

Simsample,

Try version 2.6.11.00500x for World Adventures!  It downloaded for me, but I haven't attempted to install it yet!

Since I have this masochistic habit of patching my game almost immediately after patches come out, I did so again -- of course, after copying my Mods and Saves folders, and putting my TS3.exe file back the way it was.

For what it's worth, both WA and the base game updated just fine.  (I do not have HELS.)  Cringing, I started the game -- and incredibly, everything seems to work.  I haven't noticed any broken CC (not that I use very much), not even the nointro hack (a particular favorite of mine), the same no-CD crack works, my Sim and the others in his household seemed the same as always, and his trip to China and back came off without a hitch.

While I'm sure I'm glad that my toons can now eat pizza correctly, I could only wish the endless stream of patches would actually fix some of the things we've all known about for a long time -- disappearing items (Pangu's Axe, Eyes of Horus, pizzas, etc.), broken fridges, random crashes that can only (usually) be stopped by regularly decrapifying, work/school-push issues, and the whole rest of the list that you all know so well.

Thanks PajamaRick, I have it now- it just downloaded. Maybe there was a hold on one particular region, someone on another forum couldn't get WA to patch at first either. I could download all other patches but that one direct from server, and the launcher didn't pull it down, either.

I'm assuming from the lack of posts on this thread about various problems is a sign that this patch is harmless. I've expected this to be at least 3 pages by now.

Editing to ask a question: has anyone tried ALT-TAB'ing out of the game to see if it still crashes?
It appears at this early stage that ALT-TAB'ing doesn't crash the game anymore.

I installed this new patch on my game and my youngest daughter's game.  No problems.  It's EA's bigger patches you have to worry about.  I guess they are releasing smaller patches instead of a big one that will create more bugs.

Well, my game is now broken since updating to the latest patch via the launcher. I kept getting an error saying the base game is incompatible with the latest expansion pack, and that I should update through the launcher which of course if that worked I wouldn't be typing this. So I manually downloaded the correct patch to update the base game and kept getting an error message saying file not found and the patcher ends without finishing. I've been through everything I know to make sure all CC has been removed and that would include altered files and still can't find a solution even though i've searched for answers in several forums. Any help on this, anyone?

Noenmity- it sounds as though you have a basegame system file which has been changed or deleted. For example, have you removed the Family Sims/ lots from the family bin or modified any files? If so, restore them and patch again. If you can't find the problem file, you could search %temp% for the latest rtpatch.log file and check in there to see where it failed. Otherwise, reinstall the basegame.

Yeah I noticed that. I thought it was just a mod conflict or something.

But I don't have that glitch. May just be an anomaly.

I'm not sure about the patcher not finishing bit, Noenmity, but I'm pretty sure that the first bit is addressed on the actual Sims3 website forum.  The advice given is to delete the Version.tag.  Some folks say it doesn't work though, in which case others reply that an uninstall of EADM (and reinstall, I suppose) makes it work.   Perhaps this info will help you.

I've installed the patch for the game, but when I try to install the patch for CAW I get a "Update Error: File not found" message. Anyone experiencing this?

Update: OK found the solution. If you get this error just uninstall the CAW Tool and reinstall it, then the patch will work. BUT BEFORE you do that, make sure you back up any world files that you have and\or are working on.

Post by: jwaas on 2010 April 12, 04:21:37
After a frustrating few hours, I think I've finally managed to un-break my game, which was showing a bug with the sound that I had never seen before, nor could find mentioned here or elsewhere.  I'm running the base game only with the latest patch, after uninstalling WA due to that annoying issue that there can be no two Pangu's Axes or sets of Eyes of Horus in the same game.  On top of it, either the Axe or the Eyes or both would disappear on me at the slightest provocation.  I do not run the AwesomeMod, although I admire JMP's work and lurk on this website quite a bit.  I do not own HELS and will not buy any SP that does not come with a hot tub or a diving board.

The bug I had involved the sound:  suddenly there were absolutely no game sounds whatever, apart from an endlessly looping version of ambient/street noise.  No Sim speech, no sound effects from any equipment or items used (although the animations would keep going), not even any game-related sounds from clicking on items or the like.  Going to Build Mode or Edit Town did nothing, nor did exiting to the main menu.  I could save the game without getting a .bad file, but then could not quit without using the Task Manager.  (And no, I do not have a Dell, though probably I might as well have one.)  I couldn't play the game for more than a few minutes, it seemed, without this bug coming up.

I cleared every cache multiple times, deactivated any possible CC culprit (not too hard since I run a pretty lean game), rebooted my computer, made sure my sound card driver was up to date, decrapified until there was absolutely no crap to be found within a 50-mile radius of my computer, and finally ran the AwesomeMod just long enough to enter "fixall."  The latter did a world of good, I'm sure, but didn't solve the problem.  I would never have figured out what was the problem until by sheer luck I noticed what happened:  the bug began when one of my Sims got on his bicycle to go somewhere.

Bicycle?  Yes, I had traded in my Sims' car for bikes for the whole family, not out of an urgent desire to make them go green, but because the cars would also cause sound issues.  Apparently changing to bicycles doesn't make it any better.  So as to whether this is due simply to my particular h4xx0rz cocktail (which hasn't changed much in recent weeks), or to the patch, I cannot say -- but I suspect the patch.  I had never noticed this bug before this latest patch.

So I guess, along with teddy bears (see Fernweather's post above), I can add vehicles of any kind to the list of items I must not give my Sims to use.  So it's the carpool, public transportation, or travelling on foot for my toons -- until another patch comes out that solves this problem but breaks three other things that had always worked until then.

Not that I'm bitter or anything.  :P

My launcher recently went kaboom for no reason so I'm forced to install this patch from the .exe files you kind people provided. However, went I try to install them, I get "This setup has detected that the installed game region for this update is incorrect. This update requires a different game region in order to be installed." What does it mean by "game region"?

I'm sure the solution is blatantly obvious so feel free to yell and scream at me.

Edit: I think my game region is 001 but I'm not positive. So I'm guessing I need a patch that works with region 001?

Post by: wizard_merlin on 2010 April 12, 11:38:18
This is getting tired.  Why EAxis made the game with different regions, I don't know, but they did.  If your launcher has packed it in, and you're running windows, try downloading the EA downloader, a Google search will give you plenty of options, and re-install it.  When the launcher dies, it is usually because the EADM didn't patch properly, re-installing will usually get the launcher working again.

In the meantime, you can get different patches from here http://www.simprograms.com/the-sims-3-patches/

Either by looking at the launcher, or by using Delphy's dashboard, available at MTS, you can check the full version number.  The last few numbers give you the region code you need.

Speaking of patches, the only major issue I experience with the game that I find worth complaining about is the lights.

Lights. Do. Not. Spread. Off. Lots.

That frustrates me to absolutely no end. They will light objects off lots (rocks), lots will be lit by off-lot lights (street lamps), but lights on lots will not spread past the edge. Apparently this was possible in the base base base base game, but an early patch nerfed it.

In a futile attempt to get some attention for this issue from EA I sent a ticket thingy about it and got "pete" (real name something foreign, probably) who suggested clearing my caches and making the game generate a new save file.

*sigh*

Post by: saraswati on 2010 April 12, 20:48:49
Ok, that's just stupid. That type of issue is clearly due to graphics and coding and is unlikely to be anything to do with the settings on your individual pc.

Title: Re: Patch 1.11/2.6/3.2
Post by: uknortherner on 2010 April 12, 21:47:53
I don't think the lighting issue will ever get fixed. I have vague memories of outdoor lights casting light on walls several stories high (rather than just the ground floor like we have now), and none of that glowing shit either. In fact, the borked lights came in at the same time EA introduced that shiny bloom-effect crap on light sources.

It will never get fixed. I've tried looking around different packages (especially those delta packages that the patches create), .ini files and whatever else I can look at in s3pe or notepad and I can't find a thing. I'll bet it's just a hard-coded parameter that's doing this but EA continue to demonstrate that they still don't know their arse from their elbow.

Supposedly it'd be managed by shader files, wherever those are, but we dont know how to change those.

I wish that Gunmod guy was still around, or that some experienced modders out there would dedicate time to it, because it's just so frustrating :(

I actually considered reinstalling simply to find out WHICH file may have been altered, to see if copying it from the disc and replacing would explode the game or not. But...I am happy with the current stability of my installation and really would rather not uninstall it and reinstall it. Not that I could do much with the information anyway, as since it's a lighting functionality property it's likely a shader issue which nobody knows how to deal with yet. :(

I bought a custom built gaming pc and installed the game and patched in the correct order as advised.  I then replaced all of my saved files, mods etc...
The thing is, it's not set up to the internet just yet so I got the cumulative patches from thesims3.com.  I saved them to my USB and transferred them to my new pc.
Everything was fine until I tried to check my sims3pack downloads, which had been done through the launcher.
I needed to find a file that was cataogued incorrectly and was appearing on my baby and child sims thus making them deformed.
None of the items had the pictures and not everything that had been installed was listed. They were showing up fine in the game though.
As soon as I found one of the files I needed to get rid of, I uninstalled it. But, all of the lots I had downloaded showed in the list but nothing else.
Is it possible that it's the patch to blame?
It was working fine on my laptop until I got this new patch.

As soon as I found one of the files I needed to get rid of, I uninstalled it. But, all of the lots I had downloaded showed in the list but nothing else.
Is it possible that it's the patch to blame?
It was working fine on my laptop until I got this new patch.

If you just copy and pasted the bad item to the new computer, rather than installing it through the launcher, it will not show up in the launcher.  Are you certain it was not copied over from your USB.  It could be possible that it was installed both ways and you have 2 copies.

No.  I just copied everything from my documents/electronic arts/the sims 3,  but I didn't have the new patch on my laptop.
That's the only different thing that my game would've had.

Would this stop CAW from patching?

TS3 v1.11.7.5002
WA v2.6.11.5002
HELS v3.2.8.5001

I've got those patches but I don't have CAW.

Since I uploaded my game to 1.11/2.6/3.2, the launcher won't install TSR files...
It says files are succesfully installed but there isn't the icon showing that they're installed ... :s

What could I do to prevent this ?

Pescado is the arch-nemesis of TSR, do you REALLY think you're going to find your answer here?

Another thing, PMBD (http://paysites.mustbedestroyed.org/) is your friend.

I've installed the patch for the game, but when I try to install the patch for CAW I get a "Update Error: File not found" message. Anyone experiencing this?

(http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/5323/cawerror.th.png) (http://img691.imageshack.us/i/cawerror.png/)

Update: OK found the solution. If you get this error just uninstall the CAW Tool and reinstall it, then the patch will work. BUT BEFORE you do that, make sure you back up any world files that you have and\or are working on.

Well now I'm experiencing this, but I never had the CAW Tool installed. It would be nice if the damn thing could say what file is not found!

Since I've never experienced this particular set of bugs before patch 1.11, I thought it was better to post here than to start my own thread.

Somewhere in one of my recent saves of a game that I've somehow managed to keep going for over six Sim months, it stopped notifying me an hour ahead of carpools and school buses.  I have read about problems with work/school pushing, and that is not a problem in my game -- once the bus or car comes, my Sims get pushed to work or school just fine, and stay there like they're supposed to.  It is more of a nuisance than a problem, but whenever I see any kind of consistent bug, I take notice.

I know it isn't a problem with my CC, since I started a new game and the notifications are coming up just fine.  In the other game, I've tried resetSim on all my Sims, the AwesomeMod "fixall" command (I still am not running the AwesomeMod but I do turn the most recent version on from time to time in order to enter that command), and anything that looked remotely useful in the NRaasian Supercomputer, to no avail.

I suspect that this game is just getting long in the tooth and it's time to pitch it before it reaches full-blown BFBVFS status, and in fact I'm shocked I managed to keep it going this long.  It could partly have to do with my style of play, which involves constantly moving Sims in and out of my One Fambly and arranging marriages with the Supercomputer, pollinating Sims at will with Buzzler's mirror, and thus keeping some control remotely over the entire population without ever leaving my One Fambly.  I have also noticed other symptoms that come up whenever I enter "fixall," which I suspect may be because of the patch as most of them I've never seen before.

1.  Whenever I run "fixall," it tells me that every Sim that has ever died has the incorrect dead/alive type.  Apparently they also take on the wrong married status, which the AwesomeMod then also fixes.  I'm guessing that these values then revert when I uninstall the AwesomeMod, which would explain why they then have to be reset again at the next "fixall."  Still, can it really be that in the base game with an unmodded story mode, no Sim ever dies properly anymore?

2.  Speaking of Sims not dying, I occasionally have to go through the population using the Supercomputer, and kill off a bunch of Sims that are really supposed to be dead, as they are well over the normal life span in age, yet somehow still alive.  Often their thumbnails show them as being in some life stage other than elder.  They are never Sims that I have played, nor any relative of theirs.  My guess is that they are former NPC Sims, that for some reason refuse to die like they're supposed to.

In spite of these persistent bugs, I have somehow managed to get all other bugs to go away somehow, until this new one with the buses and carpools.  So if anyone with knowledge of how those work can increase my learnings, and/or suggest a fix, I will be sure to respond appropriately with "thanks, this is grate."  :)  If not, it's no big deal as I really just wanted to see how long I could keep one game going -- and it might be that I've answered that question.

"Search" is your friend, too.  "The launcher won't install items after x patch" has been done to death on this site, and there are multiple solutions.  THERE ARE ANSWERS.  LOOK FOR THEM.

Jesus wept.

You are not supposed to uninstall Awesomemod once the game has been run with it. That has probably caused the majority of your repetitive bugs.

That totally makes sense and I should have thought of that.  I forgot about the Forever Will It Rule Your (Sims') Destiny thing.

On another note, I just looked it up and it seems the next L&P EP comes out in a bit more than a week.  I am hoping that this means we won't be surprised with another patch before then....

There will be... Every EP/SP has been accompanied with a patch so far. Why would EA change it now?

As far as I can tell, the EP is still L&P, and will be until Pescado gets a hold of it.

I expect a patch to appear a few days before the release date, then the game will probably change everything again, then the patch a couple of weeks after that in an attempt to fix everything they bork.  In the meantime Pescado will be busy altering AM to work with the patches and EP, then to fix everything EAxis bork.

At the fan events for the L&P, EA said the patch will be out June 1st, the same way it was with World Adventures. If the same thing happens this time as with last, there will be a second patch out that same week.

That was both funny (EA's stupidity) and annoying (Fixing all the problems).

I recently gathered my courage and turned my attention back to the Sims. I deleted all my mods, went to simprograms and installed the 2.3 - 2.4 mod (region .002). That went fine, and since I'm running Vista Home Premium, EADM decided to work again.  :) So I downloaded the two patches available, the CAW one and the update to 2.6.11.005002.
And now my game won't work at all. I'd abandoned it in the first place because of the 'blue lot syndrome', and the fact that I had no internet at the time and couldn't fix it. But now, whenever I try to boot it up, an error message says,
"Your The Sims 3 Base Game is incompatible with the current Sims 3 Expansion Pack. Please update your game via the game launcher."
Of course, there are no more updates in the launcher. When I first got the WA expansion - which is the only one I have - I had to hack into the SKU in regedit to allow it to play. I've checked, and the SKUs on both the base and expansion are 2.
Help? This is driving me mad!

Try running The Sims 3 Basegame launcher. It's silly but that is what fixed the same problem for me ages ago. If you DID use the basegame launcher to update the game, try the World Adventures launcher instead.
