Title: Is "setQuarterTilePlacement on" incompatible with a userstartup?
Post by: WandersFar on 2009 April 05, 06:54:56
These are the contents of my userStartup.cheat file, located in my Config folder:

boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true
setQuarterTilePlacement on
faceBlendLimits off
floatProp tvVolume 0.1
boolProp petActionCancel true
bugJarTimeDecay off

All of those cheats work fine without my having to retype them in-game, except setQuarterTilePlacement. I cannot just hit Ctrl+F, and then start using quarter tiles. I have to bring up the cheat console first, type in "setQuarterTilePlacement on", exit, hit Ctrl+F, and then move my objects. This is tedious, and I don't understand why it's not working, so HALP PLZ?

Edit: Obviously, I have Mansion & Garden, as well as all the other SP's/EP's.

It doesn't work for me too :(
What I did is put this in my userstartup.cheat file

alias q "setQuarterTilePlacement on"

This way in game I only need to type q in cheat console, and then Ctrl+F
Though cheat is still not working on its own, it's certainly easier to use.

Yeah, I think I'll set up an alias for it, too. But it's kind of annoying that it doesn't just work outright. :(

It doesn't work for my game either. I remember having the same problem with the 45dregree cheat a while ago, too  That one fixed itself with Freetime or BV I think - anyway, it works these days. Maybe we need another EP to tweak it into shape.

Strange, it works for me. I still have to press ctrl+f though to activate it.

Can you post your userstartup.cheat file? Maybe it's the order that matters  ???

boolprop ShowCatalogePFlags true
boolprop allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true
boolprop ControlPets on
boolprop PetActionCancel true
boolprop dormSpecificToolsDisabled false
boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
boolprop snapobjectstogrid false
setQuarterTilePlacement on
moveobjects on

I just noticed that moveobjects on now doesn't work though. It did work but maybe one of the EP broke it. ???

Earlier in the thread I saw someone had the 'bug decay off' somewhere in the startup file. That particular cheat makes everything after it not work. If that's in the troublesome startup, you could try removing it.

boolprop ShowCatalogePFlags true
(....)
setQuarterTilePlacement on
moveobjects on

I can confirm that cheats and aliases after setQuarterTilePlacement on do not work. Use an alias for it.

I got it to work, I made my alias

Alias qtile "setQuarterTilePlacement on"

I had to place it as the very last alias in the userStartup.cheat file.  Make sure you hit Shift+F, then select your item to move.  Sometimes I have to hit it twice, but it usually loads on second combo of Shift+F key.

The alias can be anywhere in the userstartup cheat file, it does not need to come last. It is putting the actual cheat in which prevents the cheats listed after it from working.

Does the bug jar timer work as the very last cheat in the file? I took it out because going through my userstartup.cheat with a fine-toothed comb led me to believe it was the cause of some stuff not working, but I did also notice that the order affected things.
