Title: Pets patch - all CC borked!
Post by: Inge on 2011 October 17, 20:18:02
As title.  Any CC that sims interact with or players place things into slots of (including chairs round tables) is now non-functioning.  Or, it's functioning in some very amusing ways.

There are a couple of threads of interest on the topic over at MTS apparently anything made with or using _RIG is borked.
I came here wondering if we'd have to re-upload/download all the store stuff because there was a patch to make them compatible that the store released but obviously that applies differently here considering the method in which we obtain the materials. Apparently custom hairs/clothes/make-up/etc aren't effected. Also there has been speculation that statues/decorative objects aren't effected. Or at least that's how I understand it but I'm not a modder.

Deco items are affected technically, but it won't show in play much because you tend not to interact with their slots.  It could show up when sims "view" them tho.

Unfortunately, it appears so. I just tested some store chairs and tables obtained here in a .package file (the Faire Fine Dining set) and they are borked. So is the new super special magic toilet. Looks like these are going to have to be redone.

That release is a fake, FLT is the official scene release.

flt is real. Reloaded on TPB is actually Fifa.

I'm downloading FLT release from newsgroups now.

The_Sims_3_Pets-FLT is good. Just finished installing it.

Twallans nocd works perfectly with it.

What's this rumor about a store patch that isn't anywhere?

From the thread over at sims3.com: http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/TS3_1.26.89.0130xx_update.exe
Though I thought it was 1.26 for mac and 1.27 for windows? It's actually the other way around.

Apparently the patch fixes the camera bug (I myself posted about here not too long ago) and the escavation bug. It also breaks the spiral staircases and some reported that it introduces a bug to the Generations lifespan sliders. Sims can now eat pet food at the Bistro or cook a pet gourmet meal at home if their cooking skill is high enough. As expected the collection folders are there with all the SP and EP stuff already in their own folders and also the vacation worlds each have their own pre-made folders.

@Pescado: or did you mean this one?

Store content patch V 1.0
POSTED ON 09/12/11 04:54 PM
To install this update, please start your game and use the "Downloads" tab in your Launcher.

This Store update includes the following changes:

Faire Ceiling Lamp:  The ceiling lights will fade away when zooming in.
Mysterious Deep Space Pods:   The ceiling lights will fade away when zooming in.
Too Literal Tea Ceiling Light: The ceiling lights will fade away when zooming in.

I also kept getting a promtp for a 1.25 patch some time ago I think it's the Store patch quoted above but I may be wrong.

The prompt to download the Store patch shows up if you boot up the launcher, Pescado.  It's independent from the regular game patches, and doesn't show up on MTS's patcher program.

I got a prompt to patch via the launcher when I installed Hidden Springs. I figured it was a Hidden Springs things... My game version is 9.0.73.012001  I don't know if it changed the game version or not. I do know that it hasn't affected use of Awesome Mod nor any other custom content.

I have not installed the Pets Patch nor the Pets EP and don't know that I will any time soon.

I was notified about the Store patch when I launched the game a few weeks ago and told it I didn't want it. I now have a new file sat in My Documents> Electronic Arts> Content Patch called DontBugMeUNtilNextPatch which has no file extension. I've not been asked again though. Is this Store patch actually needed if we're all using decrapped stuff?

I'm steering well clear of Pets and its patch until more info is known on the issue.

Yeah, like that's gonna happen. Thing is firmly banned from the Internet. One of you tards fetch it for me. Otherwise you don't get an AwesomeMod update because I can't launch.

I have all of the free store items and one set i bought installed vie launcher. In the store patch file are only TXTC and MODL resource. Nothing with RIG. In the MODL recource is fade / not fade flag from 1 to 3 changed. This is only this thing EA has made with store patch. I have deleted the patch files, I was allways happy, the store ceilinglamps are not fade out.

Title: Re: Pets patch - all CC borked!
Post by: TinyBear on 2011 October 18, 17:44:07
I heard there were two store patches but I was only prompted to install one. Like Heli said the only thing that was changed in mine was MODL. I know it's not MATY sanctioned but I use the launcher almost everytime I boot up the game so if there really were two store patches I think I would have seen them both.

The .part file was in Electronic Arts/Sims 3/ Content Patch/Download folder. I think for one patch is one .part file. You can open the .part file with S3pe too.

I don't think the patch is really needed though? I think Pes could just grab the patch that installs from his SKU version to the most reason and tadaa, right?

This is the first patch, which worked fine with decrapped sims3packs, at least for me. From what I read at MTS it sounded like there is another store patch that fixed the store content from the Pets patch, there isn't one listed on the Sims website so I'm gonna have to go with L & P on this one. Besides, this first patch only did one thing, make three lights fade out out when you zoomed out.

I was going through my CC & fixing everything, and it appears to be working. However now my Sim just went to bed in a generations Sim bed & the sheets are all scrunched up like the broken objects, I can't remember the name of the bed but it was one of the loft beds that are wooden.  Is anyone else getting regular sim items with animation errors? I am fully patched, no mods, just some test CC I was fixing. How the heck am I supposed to fix the objects that come with the game?

Edit to add: Well it is tight pants...did not realize a bad file crapped up reg sim game files. So off to find offending file to loosen my pants.

I'd prefer Grant's tool, but it does not handle sims3packs. I'm not too keen on putting TSR's program on my system, either.

Turns out it was a leftover.  Brand new hot tubs work, the one I had from a pre-Pets save was broken no matter what I did with my mods.

TSR has a tool called Rigfix that is supposed to fix the CC broken by Pets.  I don't have pets yet, but I thought that I would try it, so I backed up my game on a flash drive, downloaded Rigfix following their directions carefully, did all they said to do, and then finally tried my game.  I tried to make a sim.  All that it would make is a male, no skin sliders, two other sliders that would not work, and very little else.  Long story short, I unloaded Rigfix, unloaded all my Sims game, reloaded everything, cleared my cache files, loaded my saved game from the backup, redownloaded AM, and tried to launch.  Now it is telling me that AM is out of date.  This is the AM that is for my eps, the pre-pets one you supplied for till the pets snafu is done.  I think I need some help in trying to figure out how this Rigfix broke things.  I know you hate TSR.  Would you be willing to help?

Well not only are you in the wrong thread but you're also at the wrong website. Others have said they've used the tool, so the answer may be as simple as you're doing it wrong.

For anyone with stuff already installed sims 3 packs, Grant's tool linked above can also fix up your .dbc files from your DCCache folder. I've run mine with my arr'd store content through (since I'm not letting the launcher get so much as a whiff of the internet) and it's working. It also creates backup files when you run it through.

I used the TSR file (yes, silly, I know) but I haven't really gotten into my game yet.  I have very little CC in because I had a problem with getting Hidden Springs to show up; I think I rather re-download fixed stuff.

So what are you supposed to fix anyway: objects yes, dbc yes, cas no need, but lots, patterns, saves, worlds, hacks?
The rigfix refused nothing, except for some objects it wouldn't fix. The tsr one refused patterns, but did simspacks and dbcs.

The only specifically known borked thing was RIGgen. "Fixing" anything else through any fixer simply resulted in nothing happening.

Just tried both... the only CC i ever have is store content and awesomemod, plus some of buzzlers things.  Ran all the store packages through Grant's.. didn't seem to fix anything, though it said it did.  Cats still teleport across the world, chairs still clip..  dunno.  So I restored originals and tried TSR. Same thing.

I guess until they put out an official release I'll be putting the game on the shelf yet again. So glad I don't pay for this shit, lol.

If you're waiting for EA to completely fix user-created content, you'll be waiting forever, "lol."  They fixed their Store Content on the site, but someone would have to redownload and redistribute it for us to get the fixed content, "lol."  As it is, Grant's tool fixes the slots, but some beds have to be manually fixed to work properly, "lol."  Moryrie has already done this for her packages, "lol."  There is no cure as of yet for the cat-eating bathtubs, but there is a hack to keep cats from autonomously playing in them, "lol."

At least EA actually makes the effort with TS3 to patch prior installments when a new EP comes out.  Anyone else remember how features introduced in new TS2 EPs wouldn't affect the Stuff Packs?  Lord Darcy had an entire line of mods making SP items compatible with the EPs.

I haven't thought about the store stuff needs to be downloaded again. I've been busy with the booty lately, so much work to do. Sorry, but that will be slow going, especially TSR junk.

I wonder if I need to get with Witch and figure out what to do with the old upload of store stuff. Maybe I don't need to worry about old uploads and just name the new ones with a "pets upd" suffix.

The "lol" is hilarious, Jeromycraig.

That's a lot of time and expense to ask of anyone.  If someone wants to go to that trouble, I won't stand in their way, but I personally think the Store stuff should remain a "moving forward" thing.  Let people use Moryrie's packages or learn to RIG fix their own stuff, and use an anti-autonomy hack to avoid cat-eating bathtubs.

Title: Re: Pets patch - all CC borked!
Post by: kissing_toast on 2011 November 23, 14:43:55
Let me say that my decrapped sims3packed CC works just fine in my game. i just double checked just to make sure, I checked table/chair animations, hottubs, fridges and beds, those were the main problems yes? So I don't believe anything needs to be redownloaded in order for it to work with pets. Maybe the "fixes" for the store stuff isn't in the sims3packs themselves but in a patch or in pets.

Title: Re: Pets patch - all CC borked!
Post by: Seacret on 2011 November 23, 16:06:08
Store bath tubs seem to be my only problem and it seems like a lot of effort just to get a few working bath tubs. I'm too lazy to RIG so I just don't use store tubs in houses with cats *shrugs*. Doesn't seem like a huge deal to me. I certainly wouldn't oppose anyone uploading the re-downloaded fixed packs, they are a more patient person than I.

Is there anything wrong with the tubs other than teleporting cat syndrome? To me that's a very minor "bug" as CTRL click teleport easily gets your cat back. I had a cat teleport into the middle of the ocean once, it walked it"s happy ass all the way home.

I don't think you can wash dogs in them either but my memory might be wrong. I'll go check.

ETA: Yup, you can't bathe dogs in the store tubs. They go up to the dog, they get a relationship boost and then nothing.
