THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Has anyone else got problems with the new phones in free time?

I was able to use one no problems in an already furnished house, but each time I try to buy one, it disappears as soon as I go back to live mode.  This happens with both the wall phone and the other phone.  The other phones work fine.

Can't say I've seen anything like that. Death to all Nesses.

It appears to be the CEP.

I decided to test, and ripped out the entire downloads folder - phone still disappears.  I uninstalled the CEP, phone stays.

do you have the new cep or the old one?   i took out the cep and put it back and phones stayed this time with cep installed.  i did remove the cep extra folder that came with the latest update  it is found in the sims 2 folder so that might have been it

i tested several houses.

I have the new one.

I suspect it might be tied to the extra phones package, but I got sick of loading and reloading and haven't checked it without that package yet.

Related question -- does the zCEP-EXTRA folder stay under The Sims 2, or do you have to move the ones you want to the Downloads directory?  Numenor's documentation isn't very clear on that.

Yes leave that where it installs to. You don't have to move anything to the downloads folder.

Take the phone package out of C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\zCEP-EXTRA . That will fix it.

How can this be called doing a Ness?  I had one file, in the right place.  The file was borked by the person who made it - not me!

Surely, by definition, anything done by a Ness can be called "doing a Ness", even if it's only having someone else's broken file on your disk?
