1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Objects I miss on: 2009 June 11, 11:32:36
I really miss Cooperative games, Shelves, Half-walls, cheap coffeemaker, genetics, Hot Tub, seasons, ...

Sims making food and then actually eat it (for some reason they create something to eat when they are hungry, but at the last minute they decide to do something more important then eating like... reading a book...)

I also hate how every baby seems to be born with cell phone in their hands. (Why can't cell phones just be optional...)

Lot's of custom clothes, make-up and hair...
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 29, 13:07:52
So, if I'm figuring correctly, it would cost $80 ($79.75) to buy everything up on the Sims 3 Store right now.  For the cost of 2 regular Sims 2 EP's you get 142 items, 16 outfits and 11 hairs and 0 new features. Fuck EA.
<snip>
First we get bugs, and only half of the game. And now they expect us to pay ransom for the second half of the game?  How stupid do they think we are?  Angry

But I suppose there are some who will miss medieval themed furniture and some others.
You mean there is no more medieval stuff? You mean nothing, not even clothes?
* curses *

I was so hoping for 1 big medieval village... I guess I need lots of custom content then. (And more RAM, but I'll be getting that one on saturday)
(I didn't acquire the game yet, I'm waiting a little to see what everone has to say about it  Cheesy)

4  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: L&P Spore (expansion) announced on: 2008 October 16, 11:11:11
I did read about the 2 expansions... and http://cinemablend.com/games/Wait-There-s-TWO-Spore-Expansions-On-the-Way-12769.html said this about the ep "The unnamed expansion, due in Spring 2009, will allow players' creatures to beam down to new planets to explore and complete missions. Players will also get a new Adventure Creator so they can create missions of their own and share them with friends."
(edit: or maybe creatures can get out of the space ship and do stuff on a planet?)

I wonder what they mean with 'new planets', are they making the galaxy bigger or something? Maybe they've done that so, it will take longer to get to the 'center'... (because they don't know, how to make the game more difficult)

5  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Anyone using the "no cd" for spore? on: 2008 October 07, 08:59:47
Is there a crack exe for the patched game yet?

Yes, but I've only seen it on pirates bay. However, with the problems that the patch seems to have introduced, you may want to wait until EAxis gets the next patch out.

Really? I think I saw a new 'no-cd'-crack thing at gamecopyworld. (They have removed the exe containing the trojan and a new one was uploaded by someone else. I think it was Reloaded...)

Anyhow, I'm still unpatched, so I can be wrong...

... I can't find the download button? The little...

The download button is on the bottom right, where it says: 'Save file to your PC: click here'. Click on the 'click here' to download the file.
7  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Bored on: 2008 September 26, 11:22:38
While reading through this thread, I had to think at an interview I once read about spore. They basicly said that spore is currently at 1% of what they wanted to do. (Anyone want to guess how many EP's there will be coming?) I think they mentioned something about planning a complete underwater world. (Although, I'm wondering how that wil work for space...). However, I lost my link to the article...
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Extracted Xbox files. (Now with actual files!) on: 2008 September 22, 15:37:45
About the .arc files. According to http://www.file-extensions.org an arc file is a 'Compressed file archive' or a 'UGS I-DEAS Native' (wathever that means).

I know that alzip supports the '.arc' file format. (alzip is a compression utility found at: http://www.altools.com/ALTools/ALZip.aspx)

Did you try unzipping an '.arc'-file (it probably will not work, but well...)

9  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Anyone using the "no cd" for spore? on: 2008 September 21, 09:53:30
Now that the latest no-cd contains a trojan, I suddenly had to think of something EA games said:
"..., if you’re concerned with a virus on your computer, the chances of that are infinitely higher when you’re downloading off of a hacked version than it would be downloading the authentic game..."
(quote from: http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/09/16/spore-drm-update-ea-loosening-one-restriction/)

Maybe, EA-games is behind the Trojan?  Grin

Well... I made my own version of this house (without any custom content). It's far from perfect, but this is the best I could do, without custom content. (This would have been much easier with custom content, lol).

I know that I also fail at taking pics, sorry about that...

Build with all EP and SP installed. Don't really know how much it costs but the last time I looked at the price it was around 128.000 simdollars...

11  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: Lest we forget: SPORE on: 2008 September 11, 07:40:36
Did anyone notice a space ship in the second stage? I mean, I was playing the second stage and I was busy fighting an enemy and only had 2 more to go, when suddenly the shadow of an (alien)-space ship was visible on the ground. It shot (or abduct...) 1 enemy (and it got killed). The ship a few more minutes and then left. Next thing I did was kill the last 1 of the enemy, but the game still seems to think there is 1 more enemy (the message top left said somthing simular to: 'destroy 1 more of the xxxxx  to get ??dna points'), but the map shows them as extinguished Undecided.

To problem is that I forgot to take pictures, but I found a (bad) youtube video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVRwzGVdmpY
12  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: MASSIVE SECURITY HAZARD in Spore! on: 2008 September 10, 07:34:22
Seriously, it isn't a big deal.
You do know about the 3 install limits in spore and the activation procedure in spore, do you?  EA made certain that after 3 installs the game will not work any longer. So if you buy a new computer, or format your current computer, you loose an install. If EA takes the activation servers offline (knowing EA they will do that the moment spore2 comes out) you can no longer activate (and play) spore, since spore wants to 'activate', on install and everytime you go online.

No big deal? Are you certain about that?

If Spore's copy protection fucked up your computer it was a shitty computer to start with.
I tried the first ep of the sims that had securom (without a no-cd), nero didn't work as it should an my dvd-burner (that I use for BACK-UPS) didn't work as it should either. And allthough all problems are solved now (and I'm using a no-cd), it shouldn't have happend with a 1-year old computer in the first place. MY computer to be exact. I never gave permission to install securom and there wasn't a  single notice about securom, so that makes it basicly spyware. And no-one wants spyware on his/her system, so most people go for the free 'spyware'-free version of the game that doesn't break their system.

Edit to fix spelling mistakes...
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 09, 12:42:12
The sim that dies should just become an urn inside their current apartment.
Agreed!

It took ages to find out that my now death sims grave was on the... 'secret society' lot from the university...  Angry
The sim that died had only 1 family member and that was his son. His son was in college when he died, but wasn't even close to getting allowed into the 'secret society'...

Is it possible that the game tries to put the tombstones at the lot were some family lives, but fails big time at finding where they actually live?
14  Serious Business / Spore Discussions / Re: MASSIVE SECURITY HAZARD in Spore! on: 2008 September 09, 09:06:22
I only had to activate it the once online, it's when you first load the game. You can play sans internets otherwise. I do have the EA downloader copy though. Not a real one or an arr'd one, though I still got it for free.
Thanks... I finallly got my copy yesterday... And it indeed looks like it only activates when you run it for the first time (or at least if you use the original exe-file, and I don't....).

I noticed it also checks your drivers, since it came complaining with a message simular to "you're drivers are out of date. Please update them." I could still play the game though...
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 07, 07:15:08
....
When Faith's stone appears on the sidewalk, Herb's magically disappeared:

And this message pops up, saying the stones have been moved to P.U.R.E, a downtown nightclub, no less:   Roll Eyes
<image snipped>
Then after Grimmy finds some relief in their vacant apartment...
<image snipped>
...I noticed that both stones were gone from the lot.  The game warned me the stones would only appear on the community lot as indicated if I saved, so I did.  After Grimmy left, I went into the Patel's apartment to see what the Goodie's apartment looked like at this point, and their door said "Vacant":
<image snipped>
Then I went to P.U.R.E and there were no stones anywhere on the lot. I've also checked out several other lots, both in Downtown and in Belladonna, but no sign of the missing stones.  I can't figure why P.U.R.E was picked by the game as a destination for the tombstones in the first place -- has this now just become a random thing?   Huh   Herb & Faith had never visited there;  the only DT lot they'd been to was the SugarCube Bowling Alley. None of my Belladonna residents had ever been to P.U.R.E   Besides the DT hood, I had attached no other districts or subhoods to this hood.

I have the feeling their stones have just vanished altogether - a bug we had before (which EP? I can't remember), which I'm not certain was ever properly fixed.  I'd be interested in comparing stories about this issue because this is pretty messy.  I'll post at BBS once I know for certain it's not Pescado's tombstonemovefix that has caused this.  I highly doubt it did, actually, because this kind of randomness would perhaps explain why some players are seeing Olivia Riley's tombstone at the Art Gallery and others are not.
Well, I got the same thing happening, just 2 days ago. I had a elder (male) sim living in the appartment, when he died the game said his tombestone was moved to 'university road 124'. The problem is that I can't even find that lot... I visited all lots in all neighbourhouds by now and I haven't found the tombstone...

Does anyone have any idea, when game tries to do an 'online activation'? I mean does it 'activate' when the game is intalling or does it 'activate' the first time you play the game? (I want to prevent it from activating, since the computer I use for gaming is not connected to the internet...at all. The internet is on another computer).

So if it activates when you first start the game, I have no problem (see gamecopyworld  Wink ), otherwise...
(Yes, I want a copy I can legally hold in my hand)

Gah, I hope the sparkles don't disappear because the bar is full. That would be sad. I'll try make my witch neutral, then work my way up, to see if the sparkles stay, and if so, how long they stay.
I don't think so, since the sparkles did disappear for me also, while the bar isn't full yet...
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 02, 14:13:08
Do you know if your witch had her alignment bar at full?...
She doesn't, but she's almost there...
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 02, 13:53:29
Really, you got the sparkles back? Do you remember what you did when they showed up again?
....
Well... Let me think... I was playing in the new hood with 1 of the premade maxis sims in a maxis made home. I send her off to work with sparkles and she came back without them. Made her go and put on the default witch clothes again, (since she was wearing her clothes for work and I hate those). I used maxmotives, made her make study her spellbook (she is a good witch...). Used maxmotives. Allowed her to cast some of the spell. . I don't remember what spell I used; but I remember using the spell to summon that cat 3 times since the cat was to lazy to come the first 2 times. (I guess something is broken there too, since I did the spell 3 times and it's only the 3th time the cat came and I left around 30 sim minutes between each 'cat summon spell' Undecided ...). Used maxmotives. Saved Played around with the kitty. Left them alone for a bit and then I did a 'Save and quit'.

I don't recall when she got her sparkels back, but I do remember seeing them again at some point. But I also remember when I did quit the sparkles were gone again...

EDIT: She went to work again after finally getting that stupid cat, she then got a promotion and after coming home I put her back in to her witch clothes again... (but that shouldn't have anything to with it...)

Fun game: spot the sparkles! (I forgot to disable free will so the sim keep disappearing out of camera view) They are most visible at the end when I zoom in.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fyk6rTkXAJ8
Nice, looks more like she's just stepped out of a hot spring on a cold night. Light waft of steam but not much sparkle action going on there.
Yeah, at first I didn't notice it at all, I just thought they were gone. I wonder why this happens - I don't even know what to call this phenomenon. I wouldn't mind it so much if the sparkles came back after a while on their own, but I have to exit and reenter the lot to get the sparkles back. I haven't tried changing alignment, then changing back, possible that would do it aswell.

Is this a graphic card issue, or a buggy gameplay issue? I don't even know where to start looking for a fix to this one.

Now you mention it... I have around the same thing happening... When my witch came home from work the sparkles were gone... After playing a little longer she suddenly had her sparkles back, but were gone again a little later. I don't really know how that happened though, I do remember changing her clothes a few times but I think that's not making a difference...

Anyway, I currently only use a few hacks of the DC and I'm at the point of placing an updated 'triplets & quads' hack back in... I have a lot of recolers of custom objects though (not certain if that has to do something with it...)
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 01, 13:24:59
I'm having a more or less, stupid glitch... I was playing the newly added neighourhoud and decided to start playing with Jessica. At first everyting seemed to work... but then I noticed a problem with 1 of the sims living in the apartment

So basicly a townie living in an apartment seems to be 'stuck' in his own apartment-room. Nothing is visible in his apartment except the 'stuck' sim himself.
The weird part is:
- He isn't going to work, he isn't eating, he doesn't do something. He basicly just stands and keeps repeating the animation that he can't reach an object. The bubble above his head, is the same icon as the icon sims have when they are 'checking out the apartment'... (I hope I translated that option correctly  Undecided...)
- Other sims can talk (and gossip) with him just fine, but that's the only thing he want's to do...

---

Oh, anyone any idea if a roommate can get skill points and get actual promotion on their work?

23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2008 June 09, 14:08:38
Simprograms has posted a tool to remove everything SecuROM installs which came from SecuROM them self.
Its here towards the middle of the page-
http://www.simprograms.com/?page_id=39
I wonder if it's the same thing as the one Sam posted back then. Huh

I don't think so since The above link has 1 remove tool to do all the work. EAgames has a tool for each single sims2 EP/SP...
(see: http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=341)
I Don't know what the difference could be, though....

EDIT: Am I blind or Is freetime not in that list?
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Freetime Patch is out on: 2008 June 02, 11:41:23
So they 'fixed' 84 items and they claim they 'test' their own game to see if there are bugs?

Maybe someone should tell them that the 'testing' is done so they can fix the bugs before shipping the game.
Because, seen on the amount of 'bugs' they fixed, they just test it so they can say they tested it. They don't realise yet that the next step is not shipping the game, but to actually fix the bugs...

Now let's just hope that they've grown some brains somewhere that tell them that they should start building the next EP from the 'patched' engine. Who knows home many bugs will be in there otherwise? (My estimate is around 160...)

Anyway, I'm not patching unless I've found my 'patched no-dvd'... I don't want the 'securom' junk to update instal itself...
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 31, 11:20:33
I have found a glitch wich can be FT related.
I was building a house with a pool.
When I moved the fountain from OFB somewhere else.
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k45/X-filesJagVoy/The%20sims%202/snapshot_54f40a40_d4f40a41.jpg
This happens:
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k45/X-filesJagVoy/The%20sims%202/snapshot_54f40a40_d4f40a4e.jpg
The spot were the fountain was, is unusable. I can still place furniture, but no pool.

I exited the house without saving I went back. The spot in the link above was some how fine again. So I placed the fountain somewhere else. Then by accident I pressed the Live mode. Went back to build mode and guess what the second spot were
fountain stood is unusable.
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k45/X-filesJagVoy/snapshot_b4f4ec86_b4f4ec88.jpg

I tried the Object Stuck remover it did not work.

Okay, I'm having a simular problem, but I had it with that 'toddler table'-thing... The  toddler table wasn't in use, when I noticed the problem. I wanted to make a sim play with the 'toddler table' When I noticed that I couldn't click on it. So I went to buy mode deleted it (MoveObjects was on at that time)  and got another 'toddler table' and placed it somewhere else. A few minutes later, when I wanted to buy something else, I noticed that I couldn't place anything there (not even furniture)....

(No, the problem is not in my downloads folder)

Anyone an idea on what is causing it? And how to prevent something from happening again?
