Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Squinge's Grilled Cheese and Date Counter - Repository ver. (Updated 2008/01/30)
|
on: 2008 January 12, 09:52:33
|
This is modified version of Squinge's AteGrilledCheese and DateCounter hack. Repository technique is applied, so they will share recolors with the original Maxis painting they are based on. ("Grilled Cheese" poster for AteGrilledCheese, "The Lady On Red" painting for DateCounter.) I can't play Cheese/Pleasure Sims without these two counters, but I can't stand the ugly original pic of date counter. Thanks to Squinge for the original objects and for allowing modification of his mods... Update: Apparently there was a problem in Cheese counter, as someone reported that it's not recolorable in her game. Which is odd, as I was using it for several months without a problem... Anyway, I redid Cheese counter and reuploaded the new file. Tested with AnyGameStarter. It should work fine now. Update (2008-01-30): Fixed "Count Simultaneous Lovers" option to count only loves, not crushes. Thanks to Alexx for information.

Primp interaction will be broken again, that's a given.
Pulling a binocular from ass for bird watching will cause a massive lag a la water balloon fight in Seasons.
Sims will be stuck in limbo between home and new "secret lots".
Crafted cars will not work as well as buyable cars. If Sims go to work/school in crafted cars, Sims will be MIA.
New food (if there is any) cannot be cooked from the fresh food.

Darcy and Jelenedra: I'm confused, is the autonomy for those actions disabled, or just the pie menu options? And can I modify/play with them here? I didn't disable anything in the updated Supafridge, as it was intended to act like a full-featured fridge. If you want to make a nursery-only separate clone version of Supafridge with its own GUID (like SaraMK did), go ahead. Targa allows modification of his/her creations as long as they stay on the free sites.

That aside, yeah, my sims do spend quite a bit of time just standing there, and they will twitch a bit from side to side. I've noticed that too. It's definitely a post-BV behaviour. In one occasion, I used "Unfreeze Visitor Motives" of lot debugger, and it seemed to release twitching visitors from the spell. They went on doing their usual stupid things.

I've updated Targa's Supafridge some time ago. http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=252826It shares custom recolors with Maxis mini fridge. I also fixed the routing bug, which made it impossible to put something on the Supafridge. Now it can double as counter just like Maxis mini fridge. You don't need an extra counter for Smart Milk. It's not Nursery-Only, so you have to change pie menu and/or GUID yourself.

Wha? You mean your sims don't turn the stereos on their own selves and start smustling? I'm using Pescado's stereohack to stop turning on stereos autonomously. I'm sure that my Sims will act the same as yours without the hack. It's one of the essential hacks that I can't live without. I can't remove stereos altogether, as I still need them for parties and for refreshing wants panel. Thanks, I'll give it a try. Do you know if there is a similar hack for bloody slap dancing as well?

The endless smustling seems to be the fault of BV.
Not quite. I had endless smustle marathon as far as I remember since OFB. The only difference in BV is that Sims who have mastered new BV dance seem to prefer them over smustle. Especially slap dance, which is equally annoying. I don't mind autonomous hula at all, at least they don't make that stupid slapping noise. I practically gave up turning on stereos ingame and resorted to using an external MP3 player.

Fruitbowl is especially useful when you want to transfer large quantity of harvest to another sim. You don't have to click every single fruit in inventory window for a gazillion time, as you can store up to 500 fruits in a single fruitbowl and simply give the bowl away to another sim just in one click. Even if you have a hacked juicer, you would find it quite useful. I only wish Pescado would make a similar object for fish as well, like fish pantry. I have SimWardrobe's fish packing station, but it's not quite the same.

No wonder your hood is exploding, as you've already done 2 Very Bad Things to your hood. I sent one of my sims on a vacation to Twikki Island and got him flirting with the Witch Doctor If you can't do the flirting with NPCs in 'normal' way (not the one that was introduced by later EP), you are not supposed to move in/marry them. EA test new EPs only with Base Game, so some EP-specific features are often glitched. (Like OFB perk "Head for Numbers", which made the game crash when you try to call vacation NPCs.) AFAIR, Feed a Bite was introduced in NL, so it's not surprising that the interaction is glitched with BV NPCs. I moved the family with the witch doctor in it to another 'hood via the move occupied house thing figuring I'll start anew in this neighborhood This is a well-known VBT. NEVER move occupied lots into lot bin. NEVER move occupied lots between the hoods. You'll irrevocably corrupt your new hood. DO NOT delete family in the Sim bin. Search the forum for more information, and read around the forum MOAR, especially this War Room and various stickies. If you don't even know such basic things, you're not supposed to try this tutorial in the first place.

Let's say you stuffed a fridge full of fresh produce. Then you buy another fridge and delete the old one. Is the fresh food gone, or did it get transferred to the new fridge? The Fresh Food point is stored per fridge base. You cannot use point from another fridge in the house. If you buy a new fridge and sell the old one, you'll lose all points. Leftovers are, however, stored in the lot itself. You can take out leftovers from another fridge in the house. You can even save leftovers in the community lot that isn't owned by anyone. I built a "second-home" type community lot with beds and a kitchen. I sent a sim, have her cook a meal and put leftovers in the fridge, and sent her home. When I sent another sim to the same comm lot, he could take out the leftover.

I used to get a constant crash after 30 or 40 minutes of gameplay. Not Blue or Black Screen of Death, just straight crash to the desktop. Turned out that my CPU fan was not properly attached to the CPU. After I reapplied thermal grease and attached the CPU fan securely, the crash went away. It was lucky that I nailed down the culprit quickly, otherwise my CPU would have been burnt to death.

The ex-Uni NPCs are all screwed up in the same way. One of my sim got married to her professor. The ex-professor husband still visits comm lots in his professor outfit, and YAs still get performance bonus by befriending him. I heard that once you move cheerleaders or mascots into your main hood, they'll barge into other people's home and keep on doing their usual annoying behaviours until they die.

It can cause a problem in USB devices as well. The reason MaxoidFucktardSam claims that only about 150 customers contacted EAxis with SecuRom issue is, most average users don't ever imagine their legitimately bought game can fuck up the system in such a malware-like fashion. If their burning software no longer works, they'll go to local repair shop, or contact the manufacturer of DVD burner. Why would they contact the game company? People assume malwares come only from shady source like porn sites. They don't expect to be infected by malwares just by playing Celine Dion CD from computer.

I recognised the kimchi (candy) the first time I fired up the game. THAT was kimchi? I'm a Korean, I eat kimchi almost everyday all my life, and I never recognized it as kimchi. Maybe because I've never seen anyone storing kimchi in a glass jar in Korea. Might be that they sell kimchi in a glass jar at Asian markets outside of Korea, like pickles or preserves. In fact, I thought it was odd that the game had so many Korean references, basegame formal wear, Korean flag and that decorative musical instrument in wall hangings. And the uni scholarship for cleaning skill is named for a Korean too, which sent me toppling off my chair when my first uni teen got it. I was also surprised by how many Korean-themed objects were included in the base game. There are also Ha-hye-tal Mask (red laughing-face) and a foldable fan in wall hangings. As for the scholarship name, since EAxis tends to name townies after their own employees, it might be that one of them was of Korean descent with surname of Kim.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Booking honeymoon in BV is seriously borked
|
on: 2007 December 03, 05:15:23
|
The BV honeymoon is seriously borked. If I don't book honeymoon prior to wedding party, newlyweds don't even get the usual Limo and motive boost. If I book honeymoon, the cab wouldn't arrive at the end of wedding party. Instead, another wedding party starts all over again, resulting in Disastrous Wedding Party memory spam of course. When the second dupe party ends, the game automatically calls nanny, ignoring the fact that another adult is living in the same household to care for baby, THEN the cab arrives to pick up newlyweds, who are crying rivers over botched wedding party. How sweet. Thanks to Lot debugger, I can nuke stuck party controller to prevent memory spam. However, the cab wouldn't arrive. I have to cancel honeymoon and book regular vacation for newlyweds. This makes booking honeymoon completely pointless. What is the point of booking honeymoon in the first place, if I have to book regular vacation eventually? This bug happens even without any hacks in patched game, and is reproducible. I wonder EAxis ever tested honeymoon at all? (Which doesn't surprise me) Could this stupidity be stomped with Awesome fix?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Deleted 2 erases vacation mementos?

Recently I had to Delete 2 about 30+ useless NPCs that were clogging up character files. Immediately after that, I noticed some Sims lost most of their vacation mementos. I didn't edit anything other than Sim Description and Sim Creation Index with SimPE. (BV QA version) Could it be that "Prep Sim for Delete" of Lot Debugger somehow managed to erase mementos as well?

Since BV was installed, I've been unable to purchase the talking table - a $275 EAxis kitchen-type table. It shows up as available and can be highlighted, but that's about it. Sometimes the creator of CC dining table forgets to register all 3 new GUIDs required for 2-tiled dining table. Chances are that one of CC table is cloned from Talking Table, but the creator registered new GUID only for main Object Data, leaving other 2 GUIDs to conflict with the original. Although both CC and Talking Table show up in the catalog, the CC table will override Maxis table.

Yes, the patched BV version is v1.10.0.122. Like morriganrant, I prefer GameCopyWorld to GameBurnWorld. Unlike GBW, GCW clearly lists the release date of NoCD and the name of release group who made the crack. The group name info can come in handy when multiple versions of NoCD are floating around.
