626  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 15, 15:28:38
Just discovered that the most expensive dining chair (The Banquet something or other) has managed to lose its menu ... it still behaves as a chair but sims can no longer be made to sit on it.

New version of my Pet Interactions Enabler for Forgotten Objects fixes this bug.

Of all the crazy crap in creation this has to qualify as an "I can't believe that even Maxis managed to fucked this one up."

My thought exactly. After 3 EPs, EAxis finally updated GLS dining chair to be usable by pets. However, they botched it royally by disabling human interaction for it. This is a new low for EAxian sloppiness. How could they possibly fuck up almost every time they try to update past stuff pack objects?
627  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / GLS Preorder TV and Coke Fridge updated to FreeTime (Updated 2008-09-08) on: 2008 March 15, 04:47:41
I updated Glamour Life Stuff preorders and Coke Exclusive items to FreeTime.
If you have AL, download updated AL version of GLS stuffeth from this thread.

Television_Luxury.bundle: GLS preorder TV.

  • All functions up to FreeTime are now enabled. Sims can watch movies and tinker TV. Pets can watch TV to gain fun.
  • Following Argon's example, I grouped main file and separate MMAT file into one bundled package. (Why in the hell did EAxis split it up in the first place?)
  • Elders can watch TV while lounging on sofas.

Repair/tinker animation of Luxury TV is a bit off, due to EAxis's short-sightness. You need this global mod to fix it.
Repair Animation Fix for 2-tiled Floor TVs - Sims hold the screwdriver correctly

Painting_GoldRecord, Painting_Luxury: Two GLS preorder paintings. Now recolorable. GoldRecord painting gives Music & Dance Enthusiasm in FT.

Fridge_Special: Finland Coke Exclusive fridge.

  • All functions up to FreeTime are enabled. (Make/Make Many, Leftover/Stock, Serve Platter)
  • Food unit was raised to 350 to match FT modern fridge. 400 to match K&B Stylish fridge.
  • Changed noisy cheap fridge sound to quieter one for expensive fridge.
  • Annoying live mode tooltip was removed.
  • Now recolorable.

Pinball_Machine - Special: Coke pinball machine (Seasons version - Thanks Numenor). Now recolorable.

Coca-Cola Tee: Custom star was removed from thumbnails.

Updated GLS TV may not work for pre-FT games.
Coke Fridge is only for Pets or later. Coke Pinball Machine is only for Seasons or later.
Redundant identical images like TV commercial screen or shadow were removed to reduce size. Compressed with jfade's compressorizer.

Coke Exclusive items were uploaded to MediaFire due to file size limit.

628  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New bug? Some NPC's missing from PhoneBook on: 2008 March 15, 00:54:27
One of BV bugs was that non-interactable NPCs like Fire Dancer or Witch Doctor appear in the phonebook for Sims who gained OFB perk "Head for Numbers". If Sims try to call them, the game will crash. I guess that EAxis went overboard and removed ALL NPCs from phonebook, interactable or not. Yay for Romance and Popularity Sims with woohoo/friends with NPCs wants.  Roll Eyes WTF?

SimWardrobe fix works, though be careful not to accidentally click on non-interactable NPCs like Fire Dancer or Bus Driver.
629  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Inge's Backless Showertub - Updated to FreeTime on: 2008 March 14, 14:37:31
By croiduire's request, I updated Inge's Backless Showertub to the FreeTime. All functions up to FreeTime (Wash dogs, Tinkering) are now enabled, comfort and hygiene were raised to match Colonial Showertub. Recolorable. It has the same GUID and modelname as Inge's original version, so existing recolors for the original version are still usable.

I linked texture for unrecolorable metallic parts (showerhead and faucet) to the Maxis cheap showertub. In Inge's original version, it was linked to dirty state texture for the backless showertub. (See the picture below.) You'll notice the subtle difference.

Thanks to Inge for creating such a nice and versatile showertub.

Edit: amythestfenix made a bunch of nice recolors for this tub at The Laden Swallow. Matching curtains and tiles are also available.
Piggi of Piggi's Sims did some excellent recolors to be found here.
630  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: OMSPs for Usable Kitchen Counter and End Table cloned from the actual end ta on: 2008 March 13, 21:00:25
So, since these new OMSPs are actually cloned from the end table, does that mean I can use them to put objects on end tables by beds without preventing my Sims from getting into or out of bed?

Yes. In fact, I removed footprint from them entirely, so that they don't block passage or interfere with other objects. Sims will just walk right through them as if there is nothing. It makes more sense, as OMSPs are intended to be used together with other objects in the first place. Get the fixed OMSPs from the third post as well.
631  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 13, 16:23:17
Could time be saved by just going ahead and replacing those 8 resources and skip the comparing step? Most of the objects I need to update are all pre seasons objects anyways, so could I not just assume all 8 would need replacing anyways?

Well, that would be ok, except that some objects contains a helluva lot of BHAVs. For example, changing tables have 3 BCONs, 38 BHAVs, 10 STR#s. And you really should not just blindly replace all STR#s anyway, that could result in flashing blue objects.
So far as I know, Interaction Table ID of OBJDs need to be changed only for computers, bookcases and gates. In most cases it's not necessary.
632  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 13, 15:14:35
Put something like a potted plant in the corner so that Sims get out of the chair the other side.
633  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 13, 02:06:38
Take a look at one of the BHAV files for changing table.

42484156-00000000-FFFFFFFF-0000100C.simpe

The boldened part indicates the instance number. Select Behaviour Function (BHAV) in the Resource Tree, find and replace the matching resource in the Resource List window with the same instance number. If you select the "instance" tab in the Resource List window, you can sort resources by the instance number.

For TTAB and TTAs, there is only one resource for each, so there wiill be no room for confusion.
634  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Updated Resources for Baby Changing Tables on: 2008 March 12, 13:28:26
Updated resources for AL are now available here.

======================================================

I noticed today for the first time that none of my custom changing tables have the outerwear option, not sure why I never noticed this before but now it's bugging me. Is there an easy way to update them?

Custom baby changing tables were missing Outerwear option ever since Seasons came out. Just replacing pie menus are not enough for changing tables, as BHAVs were updated/added. You have to replace some BHAVs, TTAB, TTAs, and some STR#. I've attached required files below. Find and replace all of them. You can find the correct resources by the last group of numbers in their filenames. One BHAV for Outerwear needs to be added, as it does not exist in pre-Seasons changing tables.

Most of custom objects can be updated by this way.

1. In one SimPE window, make a fresh clone of the object that your custom object is based on. (Check Set Defaults)
If the creator changed OBJD arbitrarily, you can use "open by GUID" button in the Object Workshop with Fallback GUID.
2. Open another SimPE, and load outdated custom object in there.
3. Compare these resources one by one.

BCON
BHAV
OBJD -> RAW Data -> Resource cross-refs -> Interaction Table ID
OBJf
TTAB
TTAs
SLOT
STR#

4. Extract updated resources from fresh clone, replace/add them to the custom object.

Once you extract updated resources and organize them by folder, you can reuse them for other custom objects based on the same Maxis object. Keep it mind that sometimes you can't reuse them for other similar objects. For example, you can't reuse pie menus of sofa for park bench.

Edit: The above tutorial is only a general guideline. There are exceptions, especially complicated objects with lots of animations. Some objects require editing of CRES, and other values in OBJD.
635  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: A couple of No Autonomous mods for FreeTime on: 2008 March 12, 01:44:50
Reuploaded bingo mod to fix the bug. Please redownload.
636  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can I delete a university in game? on: 2008 March 11, 16:37:07
When you evict/graduate last playables from dorms, the game does not erase dorm key tokens from dormies' memories. So even if the old dorm is gone, the game thinks that old dormies are still assigned to dorm rooms. So they will not show up to claim rooms in a new dorm.

To reuse old dormies in a new dorm, open Neighborhood/Memory in SimPE, and remove [invisible] Token - Door Key from their memories.

Edited for typo.
637  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Abandonated Mods Needing Updates for Free Time on: 2008 March 11, 13:25:45
I remade a couple of Squinge's non-autonomous mods for FreeTime.

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,11385.0.html

No Autonomous Bingo / Bowling / Karaoke
No Autonomous TV Channel Change
638  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / A couple of No Autonomous mods for FreeTime on: 2008 March 11, 13:19:39
I was using several Squinge's non-autonomous mods for a long time, most of which are now outdated in FT. In most cases, they block building Enthusiasm for hobby activities.

So I remade a couple of non-autonomous mods that I don't want to be parted with.

LdDarcy_NoAutonomousBingo_FT : Blocks autonomous playing MYSHUNO (bingo game) everywhere, because MYSHUNO is EVIL.
LdDarcy_NoAutonomousBowlingAllLot_FT : Blocks autonomous bowling everywhere.
LdDarcy_NoAutonomousBowlingAtHome_FT : Blocks autonomous bowling only in livable lots (including Greek houses and frats). Doesn't block in community lots.
LdDarcy_NoAutonomousKaraokeAllLot_FT
LdDarcy_NoAutonomousKaraokeAtHome_FT
LdDarcy_NoAutonomousTVChannelChange_FT : Blocks only autonomous TV channel changing. Doesn't block autonomous turning on/off TVs.

Bowling and karaoke hacks are compatible with all EPs up to FreeTime. Bingo is only for Pets or later. Not sure about TVChannelChange, as it contains new codes for FreeTime Movies.

Edit: Bingo mod was reuploaded to fix the bug.
639  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Updated Resources for Fridges on: 2008 March 11, 12:49:07
Fridges need to be updated as well for new FT function of "Serve Platter", which becomes available only for Sims with enough enthusiasm in Cuisine hobby. Just replacing TTAB and TTAs will do the trick. Attached required files.

Edit: Added missing 2 resources for fridges. They are not really vital, so you don't really have to reapply them to already updated fridges.
640  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / OMSPs by ariffrazalin and JohnBrehaut1 (sans outdoor shadow and footprint) on: 2008 March 10, 12:11:31
Uh, the whole point of OMSP is putting on useless clutters and decorative stuff, isn't it? Cheesy

To remove annoying outdoor shadow from OMSP, go to Geometric Data Container and find out the name of OMSP mesh. Go to Geometric Node, select tsNoShadow from the blocklist, and select the item for OMSP mesh. Set the value from 0 to 1. Commit and save.

I removed outdoor shadow and footprint from the entire set of OMSPs by ariffrazalin and JohnBrehaut1. If you're interested, I'll post it on Mediafire.

Edit: Turned out the size of archive is small enough to attach here.

2008-10-08: Fixed the tabletop sound and OBJD version bit in a couple of OMSPs.
641  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: Community Wedding Fix for Celebration Wedding Arch on: 2008 March 10, 11:55:04
You didn't say anything about Program Files folder. Did you uninstall the Celebration stuff pack and delete your Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Celebration! Stuff folder completely? Or did you just make a new clean game in testing account, without uninstalling anything?

Because this fix is not supposed to go into Downloads folder in the first place. It should go to Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Celebration! Stuff\TSData\Res\StuffPack\Objects, not the usual My Documents\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\Downloads. Your separate testing account will run the game from the same location as your main account. It just saves game in the different folder. Taking out your Downloads folder from your main account and making a vanilla game from your testing account will not remove this fix. You must go to the CS folder under the Program Files and manually delete it.

It certainly wasn't updated in MY game. When I disabled the fix, CS wedding arch lost the option. I looked at the CS wedding arch code after installing both BV patch and FT. The bug is still there, and the CS wedding arch is included neither in BV Overrides nor in FT Overrides.
642  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: Community Wedding Fix for Celebration Wedding Arch on: 2008 March 10, 04:33:57
No, FT didn't fix this bug. This fix is not automatically uninstalled by CS uninstaller. You have to manually delete it. If you did a complete uninstall and reinstall, most likely this fix remained where it had been all along.

New EPs often don't even fix the objects from previous EPs, let alone from previous SPs. Unless EA releases a specific patch for Stuff Packs (like Family Fun Stuff Pack patch), you can safely assume that SP objects are not fixed by new EPs. The only stuff pack objects that FT updated are several Teen Style Stuff objects like computer and bookcases, on which they did such a sloppy job that I had to make an additional fix for it too.

643  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Orangeade doesn't increase new FT badges for sewing and pottery on: 2008 March 10, 01:09:21
Not convinced it's harder to grind sewing/pottery than other badges yet, though. Have you tried using the macro-grinder for it?

Do you mean skillinate - sewing/pottery? I haven't tried it. I find it somewhat inconsistent that a Sim with no badge either in sewing or in pottery can make silver-badge pots straight from the start, but cannot make anything other than basic potholders for sewing. I'm not sure if it's a feature or a bug though. If Sims can make high-level items with no badge, it would feel cheaty for me.

UPDATE: Have a prototype fix. Man was that code ever a mess. No wonder they never updated it. Awaiting testers and Fat Gwilly People.

Gwill, please?
644  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / OMSPs for Usable Kitchen Counter & Real End Table (Updated 2008/10/08) on: 2008 March 10, 00:09:35
I love OMSPs (One More Slot Packages) set available at MTS2, it's a must-have for realistic cluttered look.

But JohnBrehaut1's Counter OMSP is cloned from coffee table, so you can't put small appliances like coffee makers and juicers on it. As for the end table, both OMSPs by ariffrazalin and JohnBrehaut1 have problems. Ariffrazalin's version reverts back to original color whenever you enter the lot. is based on the dining table, so Sims will put plates and college assignments on it, and it will spawn redundant servers on restaurant lot. JohnBrehaut1's version is cloned not from the actual end table, but from the coffee table, so animations for small electronics will be at incorrect height. (See the picture below.)

So I created two OMSPs for my own use.

LdDarcy_OMSP_Counter_Usable: Cloned from Numenor's counter template, this OMSP functions just like regular counters. You can put small appliances like juicers or microwaves which can be placed only on the counters. Sims can cook food and put plates on top of this OMSP. Food prep time and quality were adjusted to match expensive counters. Numenor's SEP (Slot Enable Package) was incorporated so that Sims can correctly use the objects placed on it when it's used at the corners.

LdDarcy_OMSP_EndTable: Cloned from Here and There Thing end table, this OMSP functions just like regular end tables. Animations for small electronics like phones and clocks will be at correct height. Sims will not put plates or college assignments on it, and it won't spawn redundant servers on restaurant lot. Footprint was removed so that it can be used without moveobjects cheat on.

Both OMSPs don't cast outdoor shadow even at the highest shadow setting. Footprint was removed from them, so that they won't interfere other objects or block passage.

A note for counter OMSP: Sims will complain if you push it too closer to the back trim of counters. Tiled floors will be handy when you place it over the counters.
You must apply invisible recolor for both recolorable parts (countertop and counterfinish) to make it completely invisible.

For the decorative objects that Sims cannot interact with, I suggest that you continue to use JohnBrehaut1's version based on the coffee table, especially near the corners.

I used JohnBrehaut1's mesh for both OMSPs. I sent a PM for permission about a month ago, but apparently he's taking a break or retired from Sims modding, and hasn't been active since January.

OMSPs by ariffrazalin and JohnBrehaut1 without footprint and outdoor shadow are posted in Reply #2.

AmberDiceless made a repository version to reduce file size.

2008-10-08: Updated End Table OMSP to add the missing tabletop sound. Also fixed the tabletop sound and OBJD version bit in a couple of OMSPs by ariffrazalin and JohnBrehaut1. (Attached in Reply #2.)
645  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Orangeade doesn't increase new FT badges for sewing and pottery on: 2008 March 09, 15:47:23
Orangeade from Seasons doesn't seem to increase badge point for sewing and pottery. The enthusiasm icon for cuisine appears above Sim's head, but badge point icon does not. It is possible that they gain badge point silently without displaying icon, but I don't think so.

I'm not at all surprised, it is expected that features introduced in one EP will not work for another EP. But I'm annoyed, as it takes ridiculously longer time to earn even bronze badge for sewing and pottery. (And I thought cashier badge took too long time Roll Eyes ) They made it deliberately harder so that we players are forced to get Sims into Zone.

Unlike TS1, I feel that EPs for TS2 are not fully integrated into a whole game. Back when TS1 days, Makin' Magic had a spell only unlockable for players who had SuperStar as well. Instant Fame spell required black rose, which can be only gained from Obsessive Fan for superstar. Some cake and spell recipes in MM required ingredients from Unleashed. Now, it would be "unfair" for new EP to include a feature that required previous EPs, so EAxis denied juicer for FT badges, suppressed Uni career LTWs, and so on. Stupid, and bad marketing decision as well.
646  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Loading screen and neighbourhood music on: 2008 March 09, 12:11:50
I've got my own classical tracks in everywhere - dancing to Tallis or Palestrina looks weird though and music files takes up too much disk space.

I've done the same thing, filling every station with my own classical tracks. I'll try using FreeTime's new custom station.

Another reason I use blank MP3s is that I want to build in silence without turning music off altogether. I want stereo only in Live Mode, not in Buy/Build Mode. But for some unknown reason, even when I turn off all tracks in build/buy/neighborhood, the game insists on playing something from random radio station. Turning off music every time I enter Build Mode is unrealistic option. With one blank MP3 file constantly playing in build/buy/neighborhood, the game would not insist on playing other stations anymore.
647  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 08, 23:44:16
Make a blank throwaway lot, put several Maxis tables and put all your custom computers on them. Leave the lot, package your lot into Sims2Pack file. All your custom computers and recolors are now packed into a single Sims2Pack file. Use CleanInstaller to unpack computer files in a convenient folder.
648  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Updating CC for FT on: 2008 March 08, 15:23:02
Does changing the interaction table number on computers and bookcases mean that your sims will now gain hobby enthusiasm on them as well?

Yes.
649  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Loading screen and neighbourhood music on: 2008 March 08, 15:19:15
Carrigon has FreeTime Silent Startup at Sims2Workshop.

As for neighbourhood music, you can toggle off the ones you don't want in Audio Options.

Personally, I hate every single tune included in the game except Classical channel, so I use blank MP3s (also from Carrigon).
650  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Community Lot Skilling and Enthusiasm on: 2008 March 08, 11:54:15
Do my eyes deceive me or did I read in this thread that in the game as it left EA, when I take my predestined sport Sim to the sports park, she doesn't actually build enthusiasm for sport while she's using the stuff there???

Oh dear, what's the point of having "special" hobby lot then, if Sims can't even build enthusiasm in it? *Headdesk* It's about as useless as runway lots for H&M.
Comm-skilling should really have been integrated into the core game.
