26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone take the lastest survey on the Sims 2 web page? on: 2008 June 20, 17:52:55
Maxis used to give us a freebie once a week, once upon a time; it's sad to see that EAxis corporate greed has so far eroded the goodwill built from that time.

I find it really sad that we should look back on that as how it should be... Maxis used to update most weeks... usually on the day they said... their freebies were usually information or pictures... the item downloads were few and far between and then included in the next EP anyway.

they lie??? odd... but their relationship was maxed out... I just know that the last time I had a sim marry a townie they came with stuff and $ and I didn't have anything in the game as I hadn't grabbed the new versions for the FT yet. I think I will play a house I don't care about and do some tests with things the way I like just to make sure it's the NPC thing and not something I can fix by taking out something.

Thanks for pointing me in a direction that sounds helpful.

Okay, thanks.

I am not so concerned with this guy's money, but I was concerned that it might be an issue with all move-ins/marriages.

I am assuming that I have a hack that does more than advertised (or I noticed)

I have a sim who wanted to marry a rich sim, so I had her ask her current boyfriend (garden club, old guy) how much money he had and he came up with the $$$ sign, which I took to mean there was a good shot he'd fufill the want, yet he ended up having only $1 which I know I had seen before, but hadn't thought anything of it really, I just thought it was a broke townie...

I have pretty thorough lists of what each hack I have installed does, and none of them say it does that... and most don't have anything to do with the money. The only hacks I have that directly affect the money come from here (or maybe TwoJeffs) and I know that there are a bunch here that make the game harder by reducing money in various ways... Does anyone know which it is/might be?

meh, I hate fudging with the program files if I don't have to (mostly as it makes re-installing back-ups a total bitch)
I plunked it into My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\TSData\Catalog and it seem to run fine, w/o making the said items deletable so unless I am informed it's a really bad idea for whatever reason, there they will stay.
31  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Townies and NPCs can generate with Glasses/Facial Hair on: 2008 March 19, 16:14:01
Well the first post said program files, so that's where I went.
If it's supposed to be My Documents that would explain my confusion.
*edit* no, actually it wouldn't. My question stands.
32  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Townies and NPCs can generate with Glasses/Facial Hair on: 2008 March 19, 15:16:27
probably completely dumb question, but I like this idea, and I hate breaking my game, so I will ask anyway...

you said to install in Program Files\EA Games\[latest Sims 2 EP installed]\TSData\Catalog

that is not an existing folder for me, the TSData folders have Control, Res, and Sys folders, are we supposed to create it or is it supposed to go somewhere beyond? TSData\Res\Catalog has more folders... bins, scripts, patterns & a few more...

well that answered about 1/3 of my questions...

new one though... (and yes it may sound stupid, but if I'm wrong I haven't used it in any hood that I care about not screwing up anyway) I was fairly sure it was over-riding and not just replacing things so I opened it in PE and deleted the ones that I preferred to show up as they do w/o this and it seems to work. Cycling through the wants on various sims makes it show about as often as I figure it ought to.

Aside from massive overpopulation from eventually filling large family wants is that file now going to cause problems or will it be fine?

TotalNeighborhoodLinkedPopulation = only playables or...
TotalNeighborhoodLinkedPopulation = all character files (including npc's, townies)
?
I should probably enlarge those numbers, since they were originally made back in Uni with all the BFBVFS potential still set at around 1000.

Did you actually change that, and if so what is the new number? I am still only rolling golden anniversary and graduate 3 kids from college for my family sim, and neither of those is what I was trying for her LTW to show up as... and if I wanted her LTW to be career related I wouldn't have made her a family sim to begin with...

would it be horrible to remove this, cycle her LTW and then quit and plunk it back? It shouldn't mess with pre-existing LTWs right?

hmm, well I thought that it was maybe just because it's where the offness started originally, that perhaps that one didn't get fixed.
36  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Pets - All the FFS and TwoJeffs RTFMs in two easy-to-swallow ZIP files! on: 2007 March 06, 17:53:17
I just downloaded this and it seems that the commlightson rtfm still has the com-skilling information. I actually do know what it does so I don't need that manual, but I thought from the previoous posts that you had straightened that out.

bah, I didn't have much of a paypal balance, but I sent what very little I could... Figure it's the least I could do as it had been mysteriously saved from going into the hands of the money grubbers recently...
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does a 2nd XP user account give you a clean downloads folder on: 2007 January 13, 23:08:19
yes it does. which is good because I don't have to listen to everyone else complain about how long my downloads make the game take to load anymore
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just wondering befor I do it on: 2007 January 13, 23:07:09
Do not delete sims in the family bin. The Lot Sync Timer provides a method of simply fastforwarding through the lives of boring families while retaining sync, so you don't actually have to play them to elapse a given day on that lot.
At all? or is it okay to delete the ones that haven't been used yet?
