Title: Black screens of no-response and demands to access servers...
Post by: gingersnaps on 2011 December 28, 02:33:32
I was playing my sims3, everything up to generations and town life - non vanilla. When pets came out my game stopped working and when I searched the boards at games4theworld they said to download pets and it would fix itself. That didn't happen and they have been having problems with getting the 'right' game out there ever since. So I went out and bought pets (cloud download) and no matter What I did the game would launch (w/o the launcher ofc.) and then it wouldn't respond at all. Just the start up black screen. I haven't found anything anywhere about that, so I took off all my mods and everything in the DCBbackup and still nothing budged.
Eventually I gave up and installed Win7 (from Vista) - now starting from scratch. I have Base, WA, NL, and Pets all vanilla, w/o gen. or any of the stuff packs installed as of yet (they are not vanilla) and I am still having the same problem. Now all my vanilla games are demanding to talk to their servers to make sure my game is legit.
First off, how do I get it to stfu and leave me alone (my game is legit so far) if I am not plugged into the net the game wont even get me to the black screen.
Second, how do I even get the game to play?
I have tried the 3booter and it didn't help.

My beautiful plans of having less work and less hassle with all vanilla games was of course a inevitable failure with anything EAxis has touched.

Blaming EA is fun and all, but this seems like an irrefutable case of PEBCAK.

Mind explaining which those are?
Everything should be working, I haven't done anything to it other than try and run it. No downloads, no added config files.

You could have just let the person, I dunno, google the phrase.

Yeah, but my expectations of such action weren't high. Consider it my "good deed" for the year, even though doing "good deeds" is distinctly un-MATYian.

Then perhaps you should think of it as your unforgivable transgression of the year. (Kind of a waste, if you ask me.) This is the first time I've wanted to use a smiley on MATY as this post is in no way meant to be mean... Oh, God. The niceitis, it's CONTAGIOUS.
