Broken game wants.

I got a fortune sim and she wanted to buy a game costing at least §3000. There is no game for that so I usually just buy the bowling alley. Did not satisfy the want. I ignored the want until another the 'buy a game costing §5500 rolled up. Bought the bowling alley-didn't satisfy the want. The only thing that satisfied the want was Gwill's painting of the bowling alley.
Has anyone else noticed that these wants are broken? If not, then it is something in my game that isn't working right. :-\

Buy wants in the post-NL era are just a form of cash-check anyway, as absolutely nothing prevents you from simply buying the offending item, stuffing it into the sim's inventory, and immediately junking it for your money back while keeping all the ASP. Just CRTL-CLICK on the malfunctioning want to satisfy it and receive the ASP, it's the same result that would happen if you actually went through all the aforementioned rigamarole: You get ASP, don't gain the item, and don't spend any money on the item. Buy wants are your friend!

Any idea what's causing it? I'm assuming it's an outdated hack.
