Ack! *stabs resolution problem*
(1/1)
straycat:
I have a brand new computer, a beautiful 8800 GTS card (downloaded latest driver), and the game seems to run well. No glitch, no lag, no crash, so far. However, none of the game resolution options fits my monitor's resolution, which is 1680 x 1050. (My monitor is the Samsung SyncMaster 206BW.) Instead, the smallest resolution option in the game is 1280 x 1024.
Everything looks fine on my screen but all my screen captures appear horizontally "squeezed" because they are captured at the game resolution.
Is there a way to force the game to display the 1680 x 1050 resolution? :'(
Captain Swooptie:
I have a 1680x1050 monitor too, and the fix is really quite simple.
I'm just going to link you to the solution at Widescreen Gaming Forum, as I couldn't really explain it any better, and that place is a fantastic resource for getting all manner of games to run widescreen.
Just replace 1920x1200 with 1680x1050.

EDIT: Forgot to add that you should edit the file in your latest EP directory. Also, be sure to back it up.

Because if you don't back it up, you won't have it to restore when you install your next EP. Your EP will not install if you don't change it back.
I think we should add the widescreen instructions, that Jordi wrote, into the MATY FAQ.

Oh that's easy. Find your native resolution (1680 x 1050 for a 20" 16:10 monitor, 1920 x 1080 for a larger 16:9 monitor, or whatever).
Go to the last XP you have (Celebrations trumps Seasons).
Open \TSData\Res\Config\Graphics Rules.sgr in a text editor
Look for the string "option ScreenModeResolution" and change the Setting $High as follows:
setting $High
uintProp maxResWidth 1680
uintProp maxResHeight 1050
uintProp defaultResWidth 1680
uintProp defaultResHeight 1050
Use your native monitor values of course.
Next time you load the game the resolution is available.
Make sure you either have the original CD, or a backup of the file, should EAMaxis come out with a patch.

Thank you very much to both of you! I feel totally drunk with happiness now. :D
