BV problem - That hood's not supposed to be there!
Ness:
DVDs would be helpful... if my computer had a DVD drive. :(
I got to 21 disk changes with base game and EPs only - no stuff packs yet.
ZephyrZodiac:
Well. we can't get cd's over here now, except, I think for stuff packs. Presumably the shipping cost of packs with only 1 dvd instead of 2 cds is cheaper - or the powers that be just think everyone in Europe is able to afford to upgrade whenever necessary! Anyway, that's why I got caught up with using the Link, but now I have a dvd drive in the main computer, that's going to be a thing of the past! DVDs are a godsend, though, when you have to do a complete reinstall, and I've done quite a few in the past 12 months....
Invisigoth:
I am posting this here because it's semi-related in that it is a hood issue caused by BV. I am not terribly concerned by it, but I thought it would be worth reporting because it's just weird. I renamed my TS2 folder and installed. A new TS2 folder was created. I looked in the new TS2 folder and instead of N001 I had N001 -bak. I've never seen a new EP install spawn a -bak hood. Obviously all I have to do is rename the folder to N001, but I thought that it was strange. Not that I was going to keep that version anyway, I just yanked all of the respawned Maxoid hoods and put my saved copies from my renamed TS2 folder in a few minutes ago. I guess I am just a curious person. Has anyone seen or heard of this happening before?
ZephyrZodiac:
If it were all the hoods, I'd say it was just the way the game sets about finding the originals, but since it's only one, it's definitely odd. Have you searched your computer for any other N001.bak file that SimPE, for example, might have created?

No, I haven't run simPE since BEFORE I yanked my old sims 2 folder out of my documents/ea games. There is no possible way that simPE could have done this. When I installed BV it created a new folder there (which is supposed to happen) with the default Maxis hoods (Strangetown, Riverblossom Hills, Veronaville, and Pleasantview). The first three had normal folders, Pleasantview had N001-bak, so of course it didn't show up in the select neighborhood menu (also normal). It seems that the BV install itself created the N001-bak folder instead of a N001 folder. But it doesn't seem like that has happened to anyone else with BV. No matter, it was an easy fix.
